  • Hey There
    Haven't been here for awhile.
We were up to our daughters this past weekend. She is 55 today. I find it hard to believe. Where have the years gone? She has started back to school this week. She teaches 3 rd grade. So we had her B/D early.
We had some good rain yesterday and so far this morning. We need all we can get. The ground will be dry soon enough.
Nothing new here. Our G/son's wife is expecting again.
I did some heavy lifting this week when we got back home. Just getting things out of the car.I don't think there is a joint in my body that doesn't hurt.
The hubby can't help anymore. But he still drives the car. He won't give up there.
    Have a good week
    Joanne
  • Well ,we spent Sunday and Monday at the hospital. The hubby had some chest discomfort. They did a lot of tests and found nothing.. Next time I will give him a dose of maalox..
It seems that things around the house get harder to do.. I have a stack of ironing. I will try to get some done today as well as doing the laundry. I hope everybody is well and having a good week.

  • Bad Mima hasn't been around. I turned 73 on Monday and we went to VT for a couple of days. Stayed at a nice B and B, We have a new tenant-lovely lovely girl. A chemist who works nearby.
Waiting to see what Irene will do-Brad bought a generator to run the pump if we lose elec. Breakfast out with my friends this am.
Haven;t been able to go to exercise because I hurt my shoulder, But I will go today. Hope we don;t get too much damage-it depends where it goes. We live in N central Ma. Bye for now Mima
  • Hey There
Mima- I don't think you should get much of Irene by the time it gets up where you are. Living in Fl. I have been through many storms. I am not afraid of them. I don't like to see damage to anyone but we sure could have used the rain. Our part of the county misses out . I live a mile from the Gulf. It rains all around us. Eleni, my sister, two miles away always gets it.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
It must be a time for shoulders to tune up. Mine have been hurting for nearly a week. I have put off going to the Dr. I hate those injections. I couldn't get in today if I wanted to.. If I can't stand it after the weekend I will have no choice.Meanwhile I will just have to do the heat and Tylenol. Have a good weekend everybody.Stay safe.

  • Hello everyone. I've been in a lot of pain. No excuse for not posting sooner, I know, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I haven't really done much of anything lately except read and watch TV. I have about given up on everything else. I do a little housework and some cooking but not much of that either. Hardly ever shop ... just WM for groceries when I have to. Pain and fatigue is really bad. Hope you all are well.
  • Hey There
I can relate to anyone in pain.. My shoulders and arms are hurting so bad I can't do very much. I tried to get into Dr. yesterday and today. Not possible till Friday. So I told them this has been going on for the past week. It is arthritis and I have had it for years. They told me that the message was still in Dr's in box. maybe I will get lucky and they will call me sooner.
Too bad about Irene. So sad that 40 people have lost their lives because of it. What I can't understand is why they were out in it in the first place. I guess they didn't realize that you stay in a safe place during a hurricane.
Hope you all are having a good week.
    Joanne
  • Joanne, my pain has seemed to increased dramatically in the last few months and I can't figure out why. Doesn't make any sense. I'm not really doing anything differently than I had in the past. I can't sleep, can't do a lot of simple household chores that I used to do even. It's just weird. Sorry you're hurting so bad. Hope it gets better soon.
  • I know about pain-one area after the other haunts me. I went back to exercise and that helps some parts. '
Suzanne and lily spent 2 nights here because they had no electricity. What an awful storm althought the fierce wind didn't do any damage. those poor people in NJ and Vt. My brother has a place in Wardsboro and they were the last people to get rescued.
Going to the 3rd calling hours in 2 weeks. This time it's the campground owner's father. But the we are meeting someone for dinner. We are pulling the camper out of there in a few days.
Going to a Fair on Sun with son and wife. Next tues we find out if it's a boy or girl. Gotta make a quilt.
Time to go. Mima Be good
  • Very quiet. Has every body abandoned the thread just when I've come back? Bummer!

Not been having any good days lately. I don't know if it's the weather, the disease getting progressively worse or my diet (or maybe a little of all the above). I'm thinking about going sugar and white flour 'free' and seeing if that will help me out a little. Something's got to give b/c I can't take this pain much longer, it's about to get me down physically and emotionally. I'll have a lot more problems with the flour than I will the sugar. Oh, I know I'll have the jitters and headaches but that will pass, but the flour is in everything. I don't really eat a lot of bread but it's really hard to get flour out of everything you eat. I'm not sure that will even be a possibility for me the way we eat out all the time but I'm sure if I just cut out most of it I'll feel a lot better. I was going to wait until after I go to the Rheumatologist in Nashville next Tues but that's almost a whole week and there's no time like the present so I guess I'll just go ahead and start now. Wish me luck (or should I say 'wish me will power').
  • Meme=try Spelt. Berlin Farms in Ohio has lots of nice products and Udi's in the grocery store is great. Sugar is my downfall-I just bought pumpkin streusel bread from Berlin Farms . The Blackwood Brothers are coming here on Thurs,
Our grandaughter got baptized yesterday along with 9 others. What a church they go to. It's alive!!!!
This summer the grandchildren are getting to know us. Saw Liy last week and I am babysitting on the 24th while they go to a wedding nearby.
Bob and Pam are having a girl. I am making a quilt with farm animals and a John Deere tractor but quilting it in pink. I can only do a little bit a day.
Exercise is helping me because it strengthens my legs.
Bye for now. Hi everyone, mima
  • Hey, have we decided to call it quits on this thread?

Joanne - I hope you have gotten lots of RAIN. Also hope you are feeling not too bad.

Mima - how is baby? Did you get your house rented out, and if so, is this a good renter this time? Won't be long and you will be heading South again.

Meme - try going Wheat free. Google Wheat Belly and read how it affects us. It is really a hard thing to do, but it can be done. There is also a book called Wheat Belly.

I am still struggling to find energy. The clots in the lung are probably responsible for that, but I don't know that for sure. Have had a couple of different tests and all the blood work came back PERFECT, the Dr. said.

Getting ready for my 1/2 day of work this week. Catch you later and I do hope that we can get ourselves going again, after a little summer holiday.
  • Ann, I know how you feel with no energy. It's rough feeling tired all the time.

I'm not doing so good on my 'diet'. Seems like when I tell myself I'm 'dieting' I start craving what I'm not supposed to have! I'd do a lot better if we didn't eat out so much (about 2/3 of the time) but it's a social life style and I'm sure we would miss it. We have lot of friends. I'm trying to find safe things to eat in restaurants besides salads all the time. Then ... there is "night-time eating". OH BOY! That's a killer for me. I love to have some choc. at night while watching TV. I bought some dark choc covered raisins thinking maybe a few of those would satisfy me. Bad move.

    Trial and Error!
  • Hi there Meme. Guess it's just you and me for the moment. How fitting. How many years have we been on this site?

When the fatigue hits, I would almost KILL for carbs - and not good ones. Ones with sugar - lots and lots of sugar lol I rarely crave chocolate, and when I do, I end up with a migraine, so I don't much of that. I can't have cookies around as they are far too easy to grab and eat mindlessly. Hubby has 85% chocolate, and if and when I do have chocolate, I have gotten used to this and find milk chocolate to taste terrible - used to hate dark chocolate.

We eat out once in awhile, but not that often, thank goodness. Have to watch my intake of "greens" now that I am on Warfarin. Not too much vitamin K, as it does clot the blood faster.

Fall is here after our beautiful summer weather of the past couple of weeks. Had temps into the 90's on Sunday. That was a terrific way to end summer.

    Hae a good day.
  • Well, if they are right, it says under our pictures we've been on since 2000. You in Sept and me in Oct so that would be 11 years right about now. WOW ... in some ways it doesn't seem that long but in others it seems even longer. We should have an Anniversary party.
  • When my chronic fatigue
was at it's worse, I was developing fibromyalgia. I finally changed my diet to higher alkalinity (raw fruits, veggies, soaked nuts and seeds) and my PH went from 4.5 (acidic) to now 7.0. I think you can judge how your diet is affecting your fibromyalgia by testing your saliva PH every morning It worked for me to get better, and also lose all my weight.
