Good morning everyone. Thanks for that adorable picture, Mima. Such a cute little girl! we're finally getting back to some sense of normalcy after a terrible week. Hubby made the trip up to R.I. and back in about 24 hours. His flight leaving Orlando was delayed 3 hours going out but was a fast trip coming home on Saturday. After he left on Friday, my neighbor called and I had to dash over to her house to see if we could get her husband up off the floor....he's the neighbor who has cancer and the 3rd round of treatments did not work. He had his family drive down from New Jersey on Saturday morning and he passed yesterday at 3 pm. It was wonderful that his 3 boys, wife, BIL and sister got to be here for him. (I swear he waited until he knew his closest people were around before he could go.) My hubby got a chance to go over a few times this past weekend when he got back and say his "goodbyes"....they were good buddies and spent a lot of time sitting out in their garages together. So, my hubby has lost two people close to him in a matter of 10 days. I know what you mean about parents losing their children before their time, Mima. My mother lost her son, my brother Douglas, before her death in 1998. She really never did get over it.....and I think of them both every day. My sister, Diane, is not in that great of health so I worry about her too.
My next worry is a very large varicose vein in my left leg. I am going to guess it runs the entire length of my leg and wraps around from the front groin area to the back, bottom of my calf. It is huge and I think it might be that "main-vein" of the leg. Since I have been having some unusual discomfort lately in that leg, I am thinking it might have something to do with that vein. Guess I will have to see a vascular doctor and find out what should be done. I am not so much concerned that it looks terrible but I certainly don't want to have any health issues because of it. Well, it's good to see Tammy post!! How is everything Tammy?? The heat index here in Florida is brutal......no rain at all for the past few weeks and our lawns are looking the worse for it. I sure would like a big thunder and rain storm right about now! I hope everyone is doing well.....it seems we are all having some FM issues lately. I think stress is playing a big role in my symptoms for the past few weeks. I hope things quiet down now and there are no more casulaties for awhile! Bye for now. |
Sorry about your neighbor, Kate.
No sleep again tonight. Eye Doc today and I guess a sugar low after dinner. I ate dinner and cookies and told hubby how I was feeling, he took my sugar and it was still only 81 so no telling what it was before I ate. I was having to sit down every 5 or 10 minutes while I was cooking. Makes no sense really but can't figure out what else it could have been. Still don't feel quite right. Ate several more oreos and still feel weird. Got a headache from the eye tests. I have glaucoma and they did a bunch of them today. May be partly from the sugar low ... I don't know ... I have too much wrong with me and it all runs together sometimes. Could just be the anemia making me feel llike this - how do you tell??? Then there's the tinnitus. The ringing in my ears is so bad right now I want to just rip my head off and throw it outside. But then I'd be "like a chicken running around with it's head chopped off." :p |
Good morning everyone. Meme, I had some high eye pressure issues (pre-glaucoma) and had to have all those glaucoma tests every year too. I hated it when they used the dilator drops.....my eyes would be dilated for almost 24 hours. They used to apply a "reverse dilation" eye drop but all of a sudden, it was no longer available. I always got headaches the day of my ophthamologist appointment. And while I don't have constant tinnitus, I do get an occasional ringing so I understand how annoying it can be. They say tinnitus is hereditary....my mom had it too. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? Feeling dizzy, ringing in the ears and headaches sound like something more than hypoglycemia. I hope you feel better soon and get a handle on whatever is causing you trouble.
Hubby took Friday off so we could attend our neighbor's service. I undersand the two sons from up north are going to spend an extra couple weeks here with their mom....her oldest son already lives here. Between the three boys and the grandchildren, she will keep busy for a few weeks. Not sure how things will go when they leave and she is alone with no one to "take care of". I think she is planning on going back to work. The weather has been very hot and humid despite the fact we have had virtually no rain for a month! We sure could use some decent rainfall....all the lawns are burning up and everything looks parched. Off to get some housework stuff done before I go to get my hair cut today. I'm keeping it very short and sassy this summer. Not hard to do with a head full of gray hairs! Hope everyone is doing okay. |
Sad about your neighbor Kate. Just got home from work and upstairs is a mess. But I will fix it slowly. Brad is such a slob-all his tools are there plus a huge box of rubbish. He spends all his time trying to straighten out the tv.
I got a gorgeous comforter at T J Max!! Perfect color. And a royal blue blouse for the engagement ceremony/ and a blue shirt for Brad. Just need a dress. My gf and I had such fun working, Hope they call her for next week. Bye for now. Mima |
Hey There
Kate - I have always heard that these things, like loss of close family or friends, happens in threes..
I am almost glad to hear we may get a tropical storm. It will cool things off and give us some rain.. Been cleaning carpets this week along with squeezing in Dr and blood draw visits. Got another room tomorrow. Our daughter here to help me.. Meme- I hope you are feeling better soon. Mima- You know men can't do anything without making a mess or sometimes having direction. Stay /get healthy everybody...Joanne |
Brad used all his energy trying to set up the tv-he's on his 3rd plan. He did get a lot of tools out.
Rug cleaning today. Stanley Steemer. I am not as ambitious as you, Joanne, We will have to go to the camp to sleep I think, Gotta stop cleaning-I am getting wheezy. Bye for now-Mima |
Hey There
I finally got all my carpets clean. My daughter brought her Steam clean machine and we worked for 2 days. Both of us were tired and sore.It had to be done. I may hire it out next time, although ,I did that once and they did not do the job to satisfy me. I had to do all over.
We are get a small amount of rain from the storm. I mean a small amount.. Hope everyone Is healthy ..Joanne |
Well-we got a large amt and we stayed at home. Found out there are cracks in the floor of the shower and I found the receipt in the 2008 files. They will send a new floor. Off course, I also looked in 2007.
Everything came out awesome. I love Stanley Steemer. It wasn't cheap because we have a 17 foot couch. Now I am looking for curtains. Bye for now-Mima |
Hi everyone. Why is it that some men think they are entitiled to sit around and avoid any home maintenance chores on weekends?? I got one half day of a three day weekend out of him! I managed to finish the rest of the to-do list just a few minutes ago. Joanne, we had some significant rain on Friday but we are back to hot and humid now. Just fertilized the lawn and watered it in. I also did Bioguard's pool optimizer over the past few days to keep my pool's ph from fluctuating too much. I use a salt cell and have beautiful water to swim in but the ph seems to like to climb a bit. This stuff I added over a few days will prevent that. The memorial service for our neighbor was very nice on Friday. He was an Elk so they did a light reception after the service. All in all, a very nice tribute but very emotional too. I just hope his wife can manage once the rest of the family departs. Two of her sons will stay until the end of the week and then go back to New Jersey. Her third son lives here with his wife and 2 children so hopefully the grandkids will keep her busy.
Very tired and sore from all the yard work I did today. Need to take some Advil and rest. Hope everyone is keeping out of trouble!! |
Good morning all. Lots of thunder yesterday afternoon and this morning but no rain....overcast so far today too.We are desperately needing rain here folks!! Trimmed my shrubs in the front of the house yesterday....thought I was going to get heat stroke it was so blasted hot! I didn't know a person could sweat so much. At least it looks neat and tidy now. Not much new here.....just waiting for a big rainfall. I am very sore. Need to call podiatrist to see if there is a different medication for the top of my foot....I have an "entrapped nerve" that is very painful. The prescription he gave me was too expensive....$76 with insurance....a steroid tape. Need to find a cheaper solution. Hope everyone is doing okay.

Good morning everyone. Another HOT day here in Florida with NO rain in the forecast! Yikes......might have to consider moving half way back to New England if this keeps up! Nothing new to report on this end....still having terrible FM days. I had a third neighbor ask me if I was "limping" when I walk Queenie. I must look like I am because that's the third time I have heard the comment. Guess I should get to a vein doctor about that leg, huh? Hope everyone is holding up okay.

Hi Kate. Nice to see you have kept the homefires burning! I wonder where everybody has gone. I have been way to busy working and no energy or desire to be on the computer when I get home.
You are hot, and it is cool here for July. Had more rain than I ever care to see again. It is humid here as well, and that in itself, is strange. Usually we are very dry. Just too much mositure around here. Everything is beautiful and green and lush, though. I have to say, we have not had any violent storms here, just a lot of steady rain (4 inches ). The ground is saturated and no place for anymore to go. Now with the heat (it has only been in the 70"s for the whole month) which is perfect temps, but no really HOT days. The farmers are going to have bumper crops they say if it stays dry enough to get the stuff off the fields. I wonder if all this moisture means heavier snowfall this winter??? Sorry you are having such a time with the FM. The humidity does it to me, so I join you in this pain. I am heading to surgery on my toe. Got in to see an orthopedic specialist a couple weeks ago. Should get a date set soon. Won't be able to wear anything but a sandal for 8 weeks she said. Hi Mima and Joanne and Meme, wherever you are! I guess Tammy is busy doing other stuff. Hope all is well with everybody. |
Good morning. we are spending the weekend ata Mission Conference nearby but sleep at home. Awesome people. Sure helps me to fucus and not obsess about what needs to be done here.
Shower is already here. Wonderful company to deal with. Brad ordered new shoes from podiatrist-orthotics and everything. He got velcro-sign of old age!! Bye for now, Mima |
Good morning all. Sitting here at the computer watching my landscape guys cut down my Royal Poinciana. I just want to cry over losing that tree! HHe will be planting a new one opposite the old site as the stump will be left in the ground. He will grind the stump down and put sod over it but the new Poinciana will go in closer to our driveway. Not sure if that is a good thing considering how messy they are during their bloom! Ohh well, the beauty of the tree will make up for it. I just hope this winter isn't cold enough to kill another one!!
Hubby has the weekend off. Nothing planned but after these past two weeks, we could use the rest. Another neighbor a few houses down dies this past Wed. She was 75 and had many health problems. We took the husband over a chicken pot pie last evening. Sounds like you are getting all our rain, Anne. We sure could use some here. My neighbor from New Brunswick is up there visiting with her family now and won't be home until Aug 21. She said the weather has been beautiful. Her husband will be home tomorrow but she is staying a few more weeks. He is a probation officer in our county. That is all that's new here. Hope everyone is feeling okay....I am still suffering with this FM more that usual it seems. I have a doctors appointment next Wed so I will just have to let him know I guess. Bye for now. |
Hey There
Hello Everybody.. Thank the good Lord. The relatives have all gone home.. My nephew passed through town and we ate out..My hubbies nephew was here in town for a week vacation. They rented a house for a week on the water. we ate at their house.. You know what those two nights cost me ?5 pounds!!!I know there was a lot of salt in the food. My legs look like bowling pins they are so swollen.I really tried to be careful too.
It is so hot here. High 90's and index over 100's. 70 degrees sounds wonderful to us down here.. No rain ,everything is so dry. I should get out and do some watering ,but, just can't stand the heat and humidity. My joints are just screaming.. I have been making some pillows for my daughter for her birthday. They are all quilted by hand. That is what she wanted. She wants another quilt for Christmas for her couch in the T.V. room. I guess I will make it single size.. I do enjoy making things for my kids.. I want to make another one for myself. I have to arrange my time.. I always design my work. I never make two alike.. My hubby is the same as a lot of men his age. They are willing to let us do it all. I told him that his chore was to wash the dishes and clean the table off after our meals. It works sometimes. Have a good weekend..Joanne |
