Default Hello

Hi guys-hope we all are feeling better soon. I think Brad has the flu but I had a flu shot so that should help. He has periods where he's ok but then the med wears off. We are going to stay home today-we went for a ride to Sanibel and he couldn't get out of the car so I just drove home. Meme, Happy, hope you feel better soon. My back is not good so I will go in the whirlpool for 2 few minutes. Can't socialize-don't want others to get sick. And I wanted my friends to meetBrad. But soon. At least we are in FL and not in the cold Northeast. Be good everyone. Hi Candyce, Joanne, Ally, Linsue and all. Mima

Candice...Wow that stuffed shells recipe sounds good. I made it with spinach a while ago. Yummmm.
Happy......I hopeyou are still reading and know we are all thinking about you.
Mima...glad your Brad is back home.
Meme....I have to go to a school meeting tomorrow. One of my sons was in after school detention for throwing gum drops in the cafeteria. These are the kinds of stupid, immature foolish things I have to deal with.... Drives me nuts. And when I go to these meetings, I always have to plead my own case. Make these people understand that I actually have a brain in my head...
Joanne....I think my treadmill is helping. If not, I'm heading for Weight Watchers too......

Ally...,.stupid, stupid, stupid!!! Sometimes I think the zero tolerance law is the stupidest (is that a word?) law ever introduced into the school system! Kids will be kids...I think the school systems are making our kids behave like adults...heck...I even know some men who do stuff like that on the job!!!!!!!

I think I told you that Ross was getting in trouble at school and mainly his problems involved just one little girl named Madison...well...I asked him how his day went today when I picked him up and he said "Excellent"...he said, "I'm always good now!" I said wow Ross that's great...you mean you haven't gotten in trouble all week...he said...no...Madison hasn't been there all week!!!

I have a migraine...hurt all over...yucky weather! Plus...my sink leaked and water ran all the way across my kitchen...everything under the sink was soaked. I had put some chicken in water in the sink to thaw and all the water had leaked out...a whole sink full!!! I was going out to get Ross when I found it so I just put a bunch of towels in the floor to soak up the water and left. When I got home, I layed down on the couch and left all that for poor hubby. He's working on it now...Ross came into the living room and said, Meme...guess you won't be using that sink anymore...you know why? I said, no why? He said, because it is busted!

Default Hey There

Anne -I hope you are doing much better.
Ally- there must be zero tolerance in the schools now! Of course everything the kids do is wrong ,and the parent is brought in.
Mima- No fun when the man gets sick. They go to bed. When we get sick they go to work. I hope he is better soon and you start having the time of your life.
Candice... Guess you got a new sink. I had that problem last year. My son had to change all the plumbing direction. He is a design arch. but I swear there is nothing around the house he can't do. If he ever finds his life pardner she will be a lucky women. His dad now is another story.
Hello Meme...Hope things are going smooth for you.
It is raining here. I guess I will get my book and find a corner..
Bye ,Joanne

Joanne...what are you reading? Actually...it was me who had the sink problem and no...I didn't get a new one...he fixed the leak. Guess it wasn't "busted" after all!

It came a little snow shower here...didn't even stick...and they cancelled school! Go figure. So I've had Ross all day...and what is so funny about that is, he goes to a private school...they don't even run busses...the parents drive their kids to school. It didn't even start snowing until about 10 a.m. They cancelled because it was already snowing some in Nashville...sooooo dumb! I just gave him the remote to the TV and wrote down the 5 channels he is allowed to watch for him, gave him some markers, crayons and activity books and layed down on the couch...ALL MORNING! He has been good...it's a good thing because I feel like I've been run over by a Mac Truck...no pun intended, Anne! Hope you are feeling better by now but probably not...seems like a few days after a wreck you settle sore and feel worse!

You should see my livingroom floor...it is wall to wall books, crayons and stickers! I got the bathroom cleaned up today...think I'll just go in there and stay the rest of the night.

It is raining now...what a messy day...I didn't even get dressed until lunch time! Ross said, Meme are you going somewhere? I said no, why. He said because you finally put your clothes on!

Default Hello everyone

Hi. I hope you all are having a great day.

Meme - you sound in terrible shape. Perhaps the 18 wheeler that hit me square on, went your way and got you as well. You sure have had a terrible time of it the past while. I hope you start to feel better soon. Afraid of a little snow down there, are they? They never close the schools here unless it is 30 below or more and then they will close them. Some of the rural schools have to close if a major snow storm hits and the roads are impassable. Not nice to look after little ones when you can hardly look after yourself.

Candice - thanks for the hug. It was really appreciated.

Mima - get that man well and out in that nice weather. Give him another day or two and he should be on the mend. Hope you can keep yourself busy while he is laid up.

Joanne, Ally and Linda. Thanks so much for the well wishes.

I went to the chiro yesterday and he had to start all over with the x-rays and then I went back today for the treatment. My back was further out than when I first started going to him,. After the treatment it went back to where it started in June. Hopefully, it will respond and go back to where it is really comfortable on Monday. It feels better than it did. Now the whiplash, hopefully this treatment will deal with that as well. The swelling in the elbow is still there, but going down each day. I can raise my arm a little higher. I might be able to reach the steering wheel by next week I guess we go car shopping tomorrow - and nice new 2002 Honda CRV. The only question remaining is do we want red of silver or blue. Our last one was blue, so one of the other colors may be nice. Our car was a total write-off. Anyway, I am coming along. Will know next week if there is a fracture in the elbow or not.

Have been trying to stay on ww but it is not easy. I can't cook the right things and eating cereal 3 times a day doesn't really appeal to me. Tonight, I am cooking Buffalo steaks. Hope they are good. Will have a salad with it. Last night we went out to Tony Romas and had Ribs and chicken. Hubby and I split it and it was just enough. Way to much for 1 person. Had some grilled veggies with that and a bun. Then we got two desserts and split them 5 ways. Not cheap, just sensible eating. The whole meal was just excellent.

Candice, I made this for you.

Default Hey There

Meme I am reading a light little novel ...Summer Moon by Jill Marie Landis. I usually read fiction.. Various authors mostly female and depending the subject. Male authors tend to get too raw for me sometimes.. My sister says I don't read to improve my mind...True...I read to enjoy myself. If I want to improve my mind I will take a class... You are such a good G/mother. I don't know if I could do it anymore. But I would be willing to try if my son would get married and have one or two... I look forward to that day.. It might not happen though. He never seems to find the time to look for a life pardner... Joanne

Hi Guys....
Happy...So glad to hear from you. Now yell at me if I am harping on this...but you are having his car insurance pay for all your medical stuff now aren't you? I know, I know. You've probably heard it all from eneryone who has been there and done that. I just want to make sure you have all your bases covered. I vote for a Red CRV. My sister-in-law has blue.
Joanne....I hate it when the school already has you pegged based on your child's behavior. They think I must be totally lacking in morals and values. I always shock them when I open my mouth and actually defend myself.
Meme...the guy I talked to today at school said he was an expert in ADHD kids but he is on the school's side. Said that I really ought to have my kids try an antidepressant....like Paxil. I said, "Oh, you mean the one that helped ME gain 30lbs and made me feel like a zombie". He said "better some minor side-effects than your kids being in detention over and over".
Arghghghghg.
Candice....I like what Happy did to your picture......
Mima....Hope Brad feels better today and you got out and about...

Mima..Brad must have needed his rest! 1000 piece puzzel..how long did it take you?

Joanne..my sink is fine, but it used to leak..meme has the leaky one

Default Hey There

Happy- I am so glad to hear from you.. Everyday is bound to be better. I surely hope so
Alley.. The people in that school system must be as brainless as they sound. I can't imagine a educator suggesting to you to put your child on medication. Whatever they may think of you is nothing. They would think I was the B---h from **** if I was in your shoes. I would be taking my lawyer to those meetings. They should be making the effort to assist you. My son had a teacher once who had the habit of pinching . I ,along with some other mothers got her fired. That was minor ,I know, but enough that I was not going to let it go. You are right to defend yourself and you son.My husband and I were there with the teachers manual of what she could and could not do.. We scared the **** out of her.
Hello everybody...Joanne

They took Ross to the Dr. today, along with the specialist's report from Knoxville. He starts on Adderall next week. I just hope it doesn't alter his personallity...he's such a sweet, loving child! I really hate him having to go on anything!!! Daughter and her hubby have gone to Gatlinburg for the weekend. The kids are at their other grandparents tonight...we go get them tomorrow and keep them until Sunday night. I haven't had Jenna in several weeks (for any length of time) so I'm kind of looking forward to having her! Her mom said she went to pick her up at school on Thursday and said she started crying. When she asked her what was wrong she said she wanted Meme to pick her up!!! She's just a little bit spoiled! I can't believe she will be three next month!!! She had a stroke when she was 2 days old, they were getting ready to bring her home...all packed up and everything. I was on the way to the hospital to help when it happened. They rushed her to Vanderbilt to the Children's wing and kept her for nearly a week. When they sent her home she was on Phenobarbital and we had to watch her 24 hrs. a day to make sure she didn't have another stroke and also because she was on so much meds. she could have just went to sleep and not woke up!!! I slept in the room with her every night for weeks. I remember I would lay there and listen to her breathe...almost afraid to doze off. It was a rough, weary time! I carried her around during the day...she was with me constantly. I guess that is one reason she is so special to me! Her mom had a really bad cesarean...couldn't do anything for the longest so I had her and both kids to take care of (and of course the men!) for over a month. Of course...Ross is special, too. We went through about the same thing when my daughter had him except he wasn't sick. She has had a lot of female problems and didn't think she would ever be able to have kids. She had a really rough time having both her kids (and so did I!!! ) But they are both worth it! (In the picture, they were riding their "horse" around the living room but he got tired and collapsed!!! Papa can't take much of that!!!)
