Cheese soup......1pt per cup
3 cans chichen broth
2-1 lb. bags of frozen broccoli, cauliflower, carrot mix
(I used
Birdseye)
1 can Rotel (I used the milder) (Can of tomatoes and
chilies)
10 oz. light velveta

Mix all but cheese and simmer for 25 minutes or til
veggies are tender.
Cube up cheese and put into soup pot. Simmer only til
cheese is
melted. 1 Pt. per cup. You can blend it all at the end
if you want!

I love this.......and I use an extra can of tomatoes and Throw in some fresh mushrooms.

Default Hi

3 days, 2 nights to go!!Storm in the NE too, hope it's ok. Trains run in everything. No mail yet-it's been 2 weeks!!!!I had it forwarded. Alison has gone to Future Business Leaders of America today. She is such an achiever -sometimes too much. But firstborn are like that. I was one and her mother and father both are!!!!I know I pushed my son-at 4 he would go up to the McDonald's window and place our order. He was good in everything-other 2 are smart also but not like him. Alison has damage from the spina bifida-her left grain and right brain are not connected but they sure do work. I still hurt all over-been doing a lot of needlework-maybe that's it. I haven't gained weight says the scale in Winn-Dixie. It's the walking. That muscle pull hurts when i'm on the computer so I guess I'll go now. Hi to all!!!!Mima

Hi, can I join in with you girls? I just found this board and it seems to be really great. I post on the WW boards but I wanted to talk to others who have weight problems and fybromyalgia. See how you all are managing the pain and fatique while trying to lose weight. I was diagnosed with fybromyalgia a few months after a car accident. I had been having problems with pain and severe fatique years before that but my doctor couldn't find a problem besides a little early arthritis. I still don't have a doctor to treat this problem. I was in another auto accident a year and a half after the first and almost lost my right leg and injured my back and neck. I have had 8 surgeries in the last three years and gained over 100 pounds from not being able to excercise. Plus my right leg is shorter by an inch and a half and my back hurts all the time. I also have pain located at all the trigger spots for those with fybro. How do you all cope with the pain and fatique? Any suggestions on where to get treatment? My family doctor is about useless. Hope I haven't rambled on too much.

Angry Hello everyone

Welcome to you Kyredhead(do you have a shorter name, or can we call you Ky). I started out years ago with disc problems in the lower back. I had surgery 18 years ago, and have now developed o/a in the lower back, hip, knee. I have been diagnosed with FM a couple of years ago. It seemed to start out like a breathing problem, but apparently it is the muscles in the neck and sternum that cause that problem. With taking meds (and I don't take many, but I do take 10mg of Elavil before bed everynight) and no exercise, like you, I have put on weight. I have tried so many different diets, and have recently (last week) decied to start ww. I like the diet and I haven't really had to make any great changes - just deleteing all the good stuff, and I guess I could have some of that as well, but once I start I can't seem to stop, so it is just easier if I leave it alone. Haven't had any serious craving so that is good. I hope you feel comfortable with us, and just jump in. You will soon learn all about us. We don't just talk about diets here, we talk about everything. So feel free.

Joanne - 80 above zero. My goodness, I would think I had died and gone to heaven. We are slowly coming back, but it is still 5 below zero at the top of the day. Oh well, only 2 months until spring. By the way, I lost 2.6 pounds in 6 days. Don't know if that is good or not, but it is the best I could do. I didn't even eat all my points!, but I did try to stay at the bottom of them. Just one day, when it was 30 below, my body must have needed more fuel, because I was sure hungry, and I ate all my points on that day.

Mima - time is slowly dragging on for you, but it won't be long now. I hope that ice storm isn't wreaking havoc for too much longer. Did you try rest? Perhaps that is what you need. Being bent over doing petipoint would kill my lower back, and my neck. Can't knit for that same reason (good excuse I thought)

Candice - Thanks for the recipe. I am off to try find some Velvetta lite and then make this. Sounds good. I got a cookie recipe yesterday at ww, so will post that later on today. Have to hurry here, as I have to go to water exercises, and I am still sore from overdoing it on Tuesday. Shoulders and upper back really kind of sore, but maybe the stretching today will help it, if not a couple of muscle relaxers will:lol

Ally - don't try kill yourself on that treadmill. Start slow and increase by a couple of minutes each day. Don't be like me and start at the top and then have to quit. Boy that is painful. As for MacDonalds, I just don't care for any of that kind of food, be it MacDonalds, Burger King etc. I do like Taco Time however. I love Burritos - think I could eat then for all meals. I only have one ever couple of months, however. Everyone has their weakness, and your is Macdonalds Fish Burger. That's ok, once in a while I think. Ally, you can't seem to get that ex away from you. I wish Tootie was hear to enlighten you, she would know exactly what to do. I wonder how she is doing. I kind of miss her.

Meme - I suppose you are driving all over the country in that new van. Good for you. Are they cancelling your goldshots - did you say that, or am I dreaming? What will you do?

Cravings (carb) - I read an article that said to increase your magnesium if you are craving carbs. That really won't hurt us anyway, as it is good for the muscles.

Everyone have a great day.

Yes, Happy....I do miss Tootie. She knew how to put my Beloved in his place, didn't she???
Welcome KY...I assume that you are a Kentucky Red Head. I am a NY brown head. And we got that ice storm too Candice. No school today.
Mima.......Your Alison sounds like a sweetheart. Tell her parents I'll trade for two twin boys. Just for a day or two. My kids don;t even care about spelling.
Joanne....Oh yeah, I know about the fat in Fish Sand. I had to find the least fattening meal in fast foods with my son when he was in 7th grade. Here I was thinking that a fish sand was better than other choices. Duh. But I love them. I haven't had one in quite a while. We have Taco Bell which is probably the same as Happy's mexican fast food place, but I suspect that the burger isn't even really burger. It doesn't even have the same consistency. But their Chicken Quesadillas......Marvelous.
Today we had to ride in 4 wheel drive vehicles to even get out of work for lunch. I was "forced" to eat at the local burger place. I ate every fry and a big burger. I tell you, that tasted so great. And I only had some broccoli soup for dinner. It tells me that I am not eating enough at lunch time (usually a salad and some cut up chicken) cause usually I am starved when I get home.

Default Hi

Happy..2.6 lbs is good. It sounds like you did real good with your eating and points.Don't try to lose too much more than 2 lbs a week. Slow is better. And you don't want to lose muscle. Varity will be the key. Keep up the good work.Yes, It was 86 degrees here today!!!Very unusual.
Kyredhead.. Welcome..I gather you are red headed. Take one thing at a time..You have made a start by joining WW. Find yourself a good Doctor and follow his guidence. If you don't like and trust the one you are with he will not be able to help you.
Candice that cheese soup sounds really good. I will try it. I will have to watch the colesterol though.
Mima.. Relax.. You know that stress will go straight to the back.. Can you believe this warm spell we are having.
Hey Ally.. Slow down on the treadmil. You work up to what you want to do.My brother hurt himself on his and I don't think he has gotten back on it. He offered it to me. But he lives in AZ.
Hello Meme.. I hope you are over your bug and feeling much better...
Bye ...Joanne

Kyredhead - I never gave it a thought that she was from Kentuky. Oh well, what in the world do you expect from a Canadian I thought the first name might be Ky. Thanks for putting me straight Ally.

No...not driving all over the country...don't like to drive that much! I do quite a bit of driving but just because I have to!!! I don't know about the gold shots for sure. The Dr. isn't canceling them...he said he wouldn't discontinue them even if they stopped working as well because I might get a lot worse and then you couldn't just start them up again! But the last bottle the Dr. in Cookeville ordered for me the Pharmaceutical Co. told them that they stopped making it and that was the last bottle they had. I went to the Pharmacy that I get the rest of my meds. from and asked if they knew anything about it...the Pharmacist called his distributor and they told him they hadn't heard anything about it and that they had 6 bottles at that time...so I don't know what is going on with that!

You all remember me telling you about all the trouble Ross was having at Preschool at our church and how they kicked him out (at 5 yrs. old!)? Well he has been having a little trouble paying attention in Kindergarten, too. His teacher said at the first of the year that he was a young 5 yr. old...just turned 5 in August...and asked if they would consider letting him wait and start next year. But his parents both said he is so smart that they hated to do that because they were afraid he would be so bored next year. He already knows how to read some now and if they waited until next year...learning colors and numbers and such would be much too easy for him. So on he went to Kindergarten. Well...he started getting up and wandering around when he should have been listening. He would interrupt the teacher during class time right in the middle of a lesson. Then the other day they had a real episode. My daughter fell going out of the house that morning and hurt her leg and then when they got to school he got out and they took him right in and he didn't get to give his dad a hug...he was so upset that he started crying and wouldn't stop. My daughter had to leave work and go back to the school and assure him her leg was alright (he told the principle that his mom broke her leg!). We have all been really concerned about him. Well...they took him to be evaluated (to Knoxville to a specialist) and the woman who tested him said he has Attention Deficit Disorder. He isn't really bad, just bad enough to diagnose. Here are a few of his symptoms:Getting easily distracted by outside stimuli, like people talking or things going on outside the window
Forgetting to do things -- very frequently, which means things don't get done
Physical restlessness for some people, fidgeting, can't sit still, etc.
For many children, a lot of difficulty remaining seated, waiting in line, etc.
For children, having difficulty playing quietly or co-operating within a group
Reacting impulsively, without thinking first -- with ADHD it is often a matter of "act before you think," instead of "think before you act"!!

The sad thing is...the director of the preschool that he was kicked out of has a son who is ADHD and is now an adult. She had lived and dealt with this behavior for over 20 years and didn't recognize it in another child...she could have saved us some of this if she had just CARED enough to bother!!!!!!!
We don't know yet if they are going to put him on meds. or not. He isn't severe...just enough to drive you nuts sometimes!!! But he is the sweetest child ever born. He constantly hugs and tells you that he loves you!!! He tells me at least once a day that I'm his best friend forever! Oh...he's no saint...he acts out occasionally but what 5 yr. old doesn't? His real problem is he just can't seem to pay attention to you for very long. You have to hold his little face and say, Ross...look at me...did you understand what I said? I hope this is something he will outgrow...it really has me worried!

We've had 2 deaths in the family in the last 2 days. My sister-in-law's dad and hubby's uncle. He was with his Uncle when he died this morning about 5 a.m. He had gone to sit up with him so the family could get some rest. He had bone cancer and went fast. He was a preacher and he married us almost 37 years ago. When hubby moved to Michigan he lived with them until we got married. I'm not really crazy about either family...sister-in-law or hubby's cousins...they are all a bunch of snobs!!! But...guess I'll have to put up with them...have to go to 2 funeral homes tomorrow night and to 2 funerals on Saturday! I know the fibro will be acting up big time this weekend!!!!!!!

Welcome to KY...sorry I went on so...guess I needed to "talk". We all try to be here for each other...anytime you all want to skip my "ramblings" feel free...I'll never know! Anyway...welcome to our group...we're usually a happy bunch...(no pun intended Anne!!!) As for how I cope with fibro and dieting...I actually feel better when I lay off the junk foods and sugar. I get these really strong cravings though when the fibro is at it's worst! That makes it harder to diet when that happens.

Meme is writing books again! They thought a one time my son my have adhd but it turned out to be an auditory processing problem (learning disability that involes the way the hearing and brain connect)! We all no I have the problem of my brain not connecting to any of my body parts!LOL

Just got our power back on from the storm and it is flickering again! When you live in the country it is not fun to have no water, heat or lights! (I did have some drinking water so I was still peeing up a storm even though I couldn't flush!)

Had cereal and milk, then tuna and lettuce, and Tomato soup(heated on a camping burner) and some more cereal and an apple to snack on. Now I need a hot cup of tea! (and maybe something else cause I'm hungry!)

Welcome KY...............

Happy..good job on the loss! Don't eat too little cause you have to eat to lose they say!

Default Hullo

Just talked to Brad-train leaves at 11 and wather is good!!!!!Bad weather stayed up north. My son was tested for ADD or ADHD and they said he had an oppositional disorder but he also has an auditory processing problem. I think his father had the same thing. Anyways, despite all my efforts, he didn't straighten out til he was in his 20's after suffering a lot of consequences for his behavior. And now he is the BEST . Anyhow-back to Ross-sometimes they put them on behavior modification-setting rules and limits and rewards and sometimes meds. He certainly sounds like a typical case from my teaching experience. Just don't like to see them zonked so maybe they'll try the beh. mod. first. Good luck. Hi Ky-can you see a rheumotologist-I find them the moast knowledgeable. Yes, I had to stop the needlework-I always overdo things, It's going to cool to the 70's next week. Boohoo. Hi all!!Mima

Default Cookie Recipe from last ww meeting

Choc. or plain cookies

1 Angel Food Cake Mix
1/2 C water
1 C unsweetened coconut

Mix. Bake until done at temp. on box (done when cracks appear).

For Chocolate cookies add 1/4 C Cocoa

For Monster Cookies use 3/4 c water.

Makes 36 cookies at 1 point each.

I haven't tried these yet, but they said they were really, really good.

Ahhh Meme...I was waiting for you to say he was tested for ADHD. That is what my twins are. And so many kids these days are too. You will hear people say that kids are overdiagnosed and over medicated. I do believe kids are more hyper these days. Lots more additives in food, tons more sugar, and our lives are just so much more chaotic. Lots of stuff to read out there, but I do remember that one thing about hyper kids is that they fear that they are so BAD all the time that they have to be reassured all the time that they are loved. So they develop strong loving personalities. They have to....cause they ARE in trouble all the time. My son drove his car to school today after specifically being told not to. More trouble. NOt a big deal, but it is an infraction of the rules. I get sick of asking for second chances...people expect that kids should be mature at age 16. I have a meeting with the special ed people next week. I don't know if they have a Committee on Special ed in your state, but it can be a Godsend. If your child is LABELED, they can't constantly punish them for being hyper. They get an Individualized Education Plan and their behavior is taken into consideration. I would encourage you to check it out.
It is good that Ross has a wonderful person in his life like you. I miss my Mom so much cause she was also so supportive of my kids and so loving.

Thanks for all the input...it helps a lot!!!

Yet another death! A young woman...in her twenties...died early this morning! An Overdose. When she was a teenager she was in my SS class, Wednesday night teen class and in the all girls choir I directed! I'm really upset about this one...makes me wonder if I should have followed up on her after she grew up! I knew she came from a troubled home...a couple of years ago her mother died (mysteriously) and we all wondered if she killed herself! Also, I knew her sister was on drugs. I saw her at church a couple of months ago and begged her to come back but never did call her!!! Makes me feel I should have done more!
