Joanne, I'll have to give both the soy burgers and the soy milk a try. South beach is what got my weight going downward a few years ago, so maybe I need to rethink it. I'm down 39 from when I started that, but I had gained some of it back which I have now lost some of. Does that sentence make sense??

You are so fortunate to have that angel!! We said the same thing when Bob was in a car accident in 2003. He pulled in front of a Ford Expedition (he says very dumb move on his part, should have looked again) with his Chevy Malibu. The Malibu was completely destroyed except for the driver's seat. He spent a week and a half in the hospital, but he lived! I said that he was sitting on the lap of Jesus, and others said angels.

Met with some teacher friends today. They were the 5th grade teachers that I worked so closely with this year. It was wonderful to see them.

Sorry I have been MIA. I haven't been feeling too well, plus I've been working on taxes. Still not done. It will take me the rest of the week. I get a little done, then I come across something hubby has done in the business account and I can't figure it out. NO ONE can read his writing. He should have been a doctor! So, I have to wait until he gets home and ask him what it is before I can continue. I get so frustrated. I wanted to be finished with it all by the end of the week. Our CPA is going to be soooo mad at me for turning in all this stuff so late. Can't say as I blame him, either. Oh well, guess it's a good thing he is hubby's cousin! :p

Ginger is a really good puppy. Don't get me wrong ... she is perfectly NORMAL ... not an angel! She gets into things, gets my shoes occasionally, keeps my floors virtually spotless (I hardly have to sweep, she picks up everything). ;) I don't have to keep her confined to the kitchen, though. I can let her have the run of the house now. I just have to be sure to either take her back to her paper in the bathroom or outside ever 30 or 40 minutes. As soon as I take her one place or the other and tell her to Pee, she does. She usually goes all night without going potty now (about 6 hrs.). I took her to the vet yesterday and then did some shopping and left her in her carrier. She toughed it out for 2 - 1/2 hrs then went outside as soon as I got her home. I think she's doing good to be just 14 weeks. But ... she's going to be just a wee bit bigger than the people I bought her from told me she would be. They said about 5 pounds and she was 5.1 lbs when the vet weighed her yesterday. :o (fits right in with the rest of this family) :D

Hubby accepted a job with a company about 20 miles away. He will be managing a tool room for them on second shift for the first year. Then they promised him he would be able to go back on days after that. They said they just wanted him to get the second shift started and may even be able to get him on days in less than a year. He didn't have to take a cut in pay after all, and actually they are going to be paying him more than he was making before. We are so relieved. GOD IS GOOD! He will be salaried and they told him they didn't believe in working a lot of overtime ... they said they usually worked about 40 -45 hrs. a week. He should be getting home around 10:30 - 11 at night, never later than midnight. So it won't be like I'll be alone all night. (I'm not a fraidy cat anyway). The only bad thing will be our insurance for the next 90 days ... we will have to cobra our existing insurance and that is going to cost us a fortune. Plus we will have to pay for our medicine for the next 3 months on top of that. And some of my meds. are rediculous. I have one script that is $280 for 30 pills. I told him, it's a really good thing he's getting more money!!!

Mima ... hope you have a great trip and come back safely!

Tammy, I'm glad you finally sold your house. A party sounds like a good way to leave! Sounds like you have a lot of memories there. I'm glad you're enjoying your retirement, too. I was amazed when hubby told these new employers he would only be staying there about 4 years and they still wanted him anyway. I can't believe retirement is so close for us! I'll be 60 next month. Doesn't seem possible! He says he is going to work until I retire. We'll see!

Anne, sorry I missed your BD. Hope it was good. I've been threatening to miss mine this year. Our Sunday School class has planned a big picnic the day before mine and the director asked hubby if he would get all the drinks for it. I reminded him that I said I was leaving town that weekend and not coming back until my BD was over. (I'm afraid someone will plan a party since it's the big six oh and I HATE parties for me) I'm half way thinking that's what this picnic thing may be about. I hope not!

Well, about bed time. I'm really tired. Going to get started early tonight.

Hi there ladies.

Mima - hope you have a fun time in Jamacia. It will sure be a different trip for you. You sound like you are ready to go!

Meme - Gosh, still not feeling well. It seems to go on and on for you. Good news about your hubby and the job. Bad news about the insurance. Thank goodness that is something I don't have to worry about. That little dog is going to be really big - a whole 1/2 pound heavier :) Well, I guess she still has some growing to do.

Tammy - Nice that you got out with your friends. I have 3 friends I have had as friends for 55 years. We were just little kids when we met. Lived on the same street and were always together. Still are close, although one of them lives in Chicago. When I do see her, it's like we were NEVER apart.

Joanne - I hate the taste of Soy milk, and flour. I have never had a soy food stuff. I don't think I could get it down. I do, however, like Vegetable burgers. Too much soy is bad for you they now say.

Chris - those dreaded hot flashes seem to come and go. I wonder if they EVER go away. Some people are very fortunate and don't have them. I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I am like you, Meme. I don't like parties for ME!!! However, my family decided I needed to have one last year when I turned 60. Just a few people out for dinner. It was quite enjoyable, actually.

I am doing the body cleanse again. I am finished day 3 only 3 more to go. I need to start with the yeast treatment AGAIN!!! My cravings have all disappeared so that is a good thing.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Talked to Jessica yesterday-stepgrandaughter-what a mess-She moved in with her bf-now she's moving back home. Please help me pray for her. She has lots of life lessons to learn. Suzanne tells me to let go. To a point.
Got a parking space at the airport for 35-they were going to charge us more because they thought our car was a big SUV-it;s no bigger than a Camry-glad we got that straightened out.
Not soo good manicure and pedicure-oh well-last one before I go home for 35$,
Bye for now, Mima

Meme, that is a good thing about the CPA being your hubby's cousin! I get so frustrated when I can't read someone's handwriting. I giggled about Ginger and her size. Congrats to hubby getting the job!!! Mine worked 2nd shift for many years. That's great that they hired him knowing that he might only be there a few years. We are all looking forward to our party at the old house on Saturday. My youngest brother still had a key to the house, and he went there yesterday and spent some time alone. Of the 3 of us, he had the most difficulty when our parents passed away, and for the longest time, he wouldn't even come to the house. I think the faith of my other brother and me helped get us through, although it was definitely hard. You'll have to keep us posted about the picnic that could possibly be a birthday bash for you!!

Anne, that is so neat that you've been friends with them for 55 years! Carol and I went all the way through elem, jr. high, and high school together, but we were never really close until she was hired as an aide at the school. Melissa and I met when we were working together right after we graduated from high school. We lost touch for several years, and then she was hired as an aide at the school. The 3 of us have been best buds now for the past 7-8 years.

I don't care for parties for me either. I'm glad the retirement party will be for 3 of us and not just me. Bob's 60th is in Sept. I think a nice dinner out would be nice. One of his friends turns 60 this weekend. He isn't married, and his children don't live close. Maybe I'll mention to Bob that we take him out for dinner.

I should try that body cleanse thing. Do you find it difficult to do?

Plans for today: Go to the Y and walk and ride the bike. Fix the crock pot with ham/cheesy potatoes. Meet with Melissa for our Emmaus Share Group. Water aerobics tonight.

Hope you all have a great day!

Mima - have a safe trip. What day are you leaving and then when is it you are going home? Glad you enjoyed your art classes. Now you know what you enjoy doing. Glad you got cheap parking at the airport.

Tammy - the Cleansing diet isn't particulary hard, but it is different. I have lost a bunch of inches as well as 3 pouns in 3 days. I can do anything for a short term and this is only 6 days. There is NO diarhea(sp) or anything, but the first couple of days, you may have a heacache as you let go of the sugar and caffeine, and not injest more, of course. It is a diet that gives you liver a real rest. The soup that you make and drink is full of minerals. It purges the cells and your body feels really calm. No cravings for me at all. Just missed munching, but you can eat all the fruit and veggies you want, drink all the fruit and veggie juice you want (no water, pop, coffee, tea).

Meme - My hubby would absolutley HATE going to work on the second shift. He is SUCH a morning person. He likes to get up and by 5:00 a.m. and be at work by 5:30/6:00 a.m. I am sure, if he could, he would even start earlier. We are NOT on the same page here

I have NO idea what I will be doing today. I think I will go to the Mall for a while. I keep picking up stuff I THINK I need for our trip. Soon my suitcase will be full and I haven't even packed yet

Tammy 03-28-2007 06:23 PM

Anne, could you give the recipe for the soup? Do you really think it is worth it to do the cleanse? No water and no pop will be hard. When I started SouthBeach several years ago, I had severe headaches for a couple of day. Sure didn't like that, but then they went away.

Did you buy anything at the mall? Sure hope everything fits in your suitcase!!

Mima 03-29-2007 05:26 AM

I went to class last night and was given the book Get Healthy through detox and fasting by Don Colbert-I am bringing it with me to read. Only last minute stuff to do-leaving at 9:15. ADHD husband is talking about duct work he is going to put in here next year. I diagnosed him. Haha
So glad your husband got a job, Meme.Wonderful!!!
Pray for us to be safe and get good info for the church. Mima
