LOL Yes, Meme, I read how busy you are, but you have to party on your birthday!! Good for hubby standing up and saying no about you watching the kids. That's sad that they call only when they want something. I hope Tim doesn't do that when he's out on his own. I'll have to hurt him if he does.

Mima, we used to have a Burlington coat factory pretty close to us, but that store closed. The last coats that Bob and I bought were from Land's End. I think they'll last forever.

It is -2 this morning with the windchill at -13. I don't like this.

Meme - Good for you. Doesn't your son live near you? Gosh, I couldn't imagine NOT hearing from my kids for such a long time. When you have DIL's to contend with it gets "iffy" at times, I know. I think mostly we are much closer to our daughters, as firstly, they are women and usually THINK the same way. Men just sometimes leave EVERYTHING to their wives. Anyway, I am proud of you and your hubby for just saying NO!!! Might give those darn kids some "food for thought".

I would buy one of those stools for your MIL. I have one and it is much better than a chair. Balance seems to get worse the older we get.

My hubby's uncle passed away last week. He was 85. That is one uncle we won't see when we get to Denmark. I just hope the others wait until we have been there - they are all 88 yrs and older now.

Mima - Keep the jacket if you like it. You will probably be able to wear it back home. When do you leave to go back, anyway??? Billeting people is always fun. Just don't stress about everything being perfect and try enjoy the moment.

Tammy - Tim will probably be close to you, even if the gal he marries isn't. My son calls, but I am sure if my DIL saw us once or twice a year she would think that was lots. She is just SOOOOOO different than the rest of us, but she is ok. They are happy and that is really the only thing that counts. I do know that I will NEVER get to have the same relationship with my new little gdaughter that I have with Ashley. I feel badly about that, but there is nothing I can do about it. I doubt that DIL will ever let her come stay for a few days. Ashley is just like an old slipper. She is very comfortable with us and us with her. It takes a lot of "together" time to get that way.

Well, my new Dr. seems nice. He is a Frenchman, and I have to listen closely to what he is saying. He took me OFF the pill med that my old Dr put me on for the Emphesema and put me on a puffer. I started it last night and it seems to work ok. I had a bout with my heart taking off the other day, and it lasted from 7:00 a.m. when I woke up until 12:30 p.m. I did go to work, but thought about going to the ER. Then all of a sudden it went back into rythum. The Dr. thought it might have been from the pill as it does speed up the heart. So, I take meds to slow it down, and a med that speeds it up. Should come out in the middle - RIGHT? I also was feeling all stuffed up, so I drank some Neo-Citran (a decongeston powder). That is probably what did it. I talked to the pharmacist who told me that I can't take ANYTHING with an antihistamine in it, as it speeds up the heart. Gosh, I am doomed!!!

Hi Chris and Joanne. Joanne and Mima, so glad that you don't live where all the tornados hit the other day. What a disaster. Those poor people.

Anne-I know what you mean about meds. You never know how new meds are going to work. One time I used an inhaler and it sent me into orbit. I was very scared. I use advair and itworks and I have had to use it lately. Tree pollen I think. What does billeting me-I think that it probably has something to do with hostessing.
My middle son doesn't call me much so I call him to catch up. My older son is a gem-I totally agree that sons leave it up to wives. Not true in my case-but heard that many time. DIL's are tricky I have found out. I love mine but it's not the same as your own kids. You don't know their baggage like you do your own kids. But I have been trying to figure it out and it helps me to forgive them when I feel offended.
Went to lunch at Applebee's again-I don't like to go there because I need to make substitutions but they don't have any.
Going to gf's for lunch. Someone I work with back home . There are 4 of us in this area.
Pray for me-I am leaning toward joining Brad's church.

Mima, what kind of church is it you are thinking about joining? Would that mean you would go there all the time and not go to the Catholic Church any more? Or would you belong to both? And if you are going to belong to both, is Brad going to join your church, too? Just wondering. As far as 'billeting' goes ... I thought it meant 'lodging for troops' so I guess she was refering to you providing lodging for the missionaries. Good luck with that, by the way. You are a good person!

Snowed yesterday ... we didn't have church last night so I came home, went to bed and didn't get up until 8:30 last night. Needed that bad! I have Ross and Jenna today ... I can't believe they called a snow day again today ... there is absolutely NO snow anywhere around here. I'm sure there is probably a little ice on some of the mountainous roads way out but gee! I can only think of one or at the most two schools in our county that could possibly be effected by the weather today. Our Superintendant should have just closed those schools! He's a bear of very little brain (Winnie the Pooh)! And now we are supposed to get a wintry mix again tomorrow and snow showers Thursday. There's no hope! It's 24 here at midday and going down to 10 tonight. I took the kids down to MacDonald's to get lunch. They wanted to go in ... I said, I'm not getting out of this van. From garage to drive-thru and back to garage. Take it or leave it and eat soup.

Anne, I'm pretty sure Tim will stay close, and if he stays with Jessica, I think she will be close also. At least I hope that she will. Jess has already told Tim that she thinks I'd make a great mother-in-law. How sad about the uncle dying. Good luck with the medicines!!

Mima, I just told Bob that I wanted to go to Applebees because they have a WW menu. Hope you had fun with your friends!!

Meme, we were closed today and we'll be closed tomorrow. The windchills have been -25 to -30. It's -5 right now, and they are calling for snow starting tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday. We may end up being out then too. It's ok with me, because I was going to use sick days tomorrow and Wed. because of getting the injections in my knees. If I don't have to use them, that's more severence pay at the end.

I now have 15 days!

I think you should be the Superintendent, Meme or at least in charge of the transportation.
Right now, I have been going to my church and the Baptist and Brad was going sometimes, like Christmas and Easter and he always helped me when I worked at the Fair-that would be 4 churches that we split our donations to. This way we would both be associate members here and members in the North. I am already involved in both of his churches and back home they know I went to a different church. In order to join, I would have to be baptized becuase that's what Baptist churches do. This thinking has been going on for a while but it;s hard to change at 68=but then I will have God's help!
I looked up billeting and saw your definition Meme.
Went to lunch at gf's house. We had a good time-We are going to get together with 2 others at the end of the month.
Just a few more things to get ready for Isaac. It's cool and rainy here-we have to pick him up at 2-I will get my nap in.
Brad cleaned and he is sneezing his head off-he's probably just as allergic to dust as I am.
I have been taking Fibersmart with flax instead of metamucil and it keeps me regular but IBS is back a little. I would rather be regular-that's what makes me get an infection when I am not . It also has bifidus. And it's only $28 at the Health store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ha but if it work;s it's great.
Aren;t you glad I shared all that.
Stay sane, Meme. Enjoy your day off tammy. Hi Chris, Anne, and Joanne. Mima

Meme, we've been out two days in a row because of the bitter cold temperatures. It has been snowing the past few hours, and it doesn't look good for school tomorrow. I won't be there either way because I had knee injection today. Notice I didn't say injections???? I got very hot and lightheaded after the first one was done, and my BP went down to 90/60. I had to stay around for about an hour before I was allowed to leave. I have to go back in two weeks for the second knee. What a wimp!

I do like your plan for the schools and the closings. It makes sense. I'm sure you enjoyed the kids!!

Meme, we've never joined our church. We've just attended regularly. Tim called last night, and he is coming home this weekend. I think since he's home, we'll drive to our old church since we haven't been there for about a month since we've been checking out other churches near here. Of course, alot depends on the weather. I have to admit, looking out the back window, it is downright beautiful out there! I'm sure my hubby won't agree when I mention it. lol

Hello to everyone else!! Hope to hear from you soon!!

We will surely have school tomorrow. No snow today but we have some in the forecast for tomorrow night and Thursday. Joy! The girls were hoping it would snow so they could come back over here tomorrow. I said, "hush your mouths!" I had to play guesstures with them half the day. They were so funny. They would choose a card and act out the word while I tried to guess what it was. They are 7 & 9 ... hilarious!!! They have worn my poor little puppy 'plumb out'! Bless her little heart. But she laid right in there with them today. She's a little trooper. I can't afford to keep them very many more days ... they eat me out of house and home! I'm telling you ... I had hubby go to the store last night and buy some food for them ... he got Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles of Cheesy Lasagna. Well ... I made 2 to start, one for each of them. Kaylyn, the 9 yr. old, said, this won't be enough for me. So, I thought, that smells pretty good, and there were only 4 in the box, so I made the other 2, one for her and one for me. Meanwhile, while those were microwaving, Jenna said she was full and Kaylyn took what was in her bowl (about half), put it in HER bowl and finished it. I said, well do you still want what I made you now. She said, sure. I divided those two and gave her half. She started eating and Jenna decided she wanted some ice cream. I fixed her and Kaylyn both a bowl of ice cream and by the time I got that put away, Kaylyn had finished the third bowl of lasagna and got up, came over to my bowl and said, are you going to eat that? I said, do you want it? She said, yes ... so I said go ahead if you're sure you'll eat it. She ate ALL OF MY LASAGNA, TOO, PLUS A BOWL OF ICE CREAM! They had 4 huge donuts from a bakery in town for breakfast plus other junk throughout the day. Yesterday, Jenna and Ross had donuts and pop tarts for breakfast and then I took them to MacDonald's for lunch ... I had lunch with them and it was $14 and that's not even counting all the milk and stuff they drink ... like I said ... can't afford to have kids everyday! I don't know how families with just one parent working afford kids now days (or even both parents working). And pets ... pet food is also rediculous. And some people have multiple dogs or cats. The pet food & vet bills along with the kids food and dr. bills and designer clothes, and school supplies ... cell phones ... video games and all the paraphernalia kids insist they HAVE to have now ... tell me how people afford it. We're just a few years from retirement & thought we'd be able to save a lot after the kids left home. Still having problems with that.

(Of course you could say my kids never did leave ... they just brought their kids!)

PICTURES COMING

Good afternoon everybody.

Tammy - glad that Tim will be coming home. Only 15 Days LEFT!! Boy lets do the of joy!! That is great.

Meme - hungry kids! I wish Ashley was that hungy. She just isn't a very big eater. She doesn't get much junk food, at home or when she is her. Ever since she was just little, after supper, she can go get a couple of little chocolate bars or a bag of those little halloween size candies. She NEVER asks for me and is content with that. She likes fruit and veggies, but is a picky eater. James isn't allowed much in the line of sweets at all. He is very hyper so his mom won't let him have it. He can have nuts or fruit if he wants a snack.

Mima - Billeting is quite common here. It is giving lodging to somebody. We have had several people stay with us from Denmark (bands, dancers etc). It is a lot of fun - something I have always enjoyed doing. It seems to me most people sneeze if there is a lot of dust around. Glad you found something for the old tummy.

It is snowing like crazy here today. I wish they would shut everything down for tomorrow, but it isn't going to happen. If they did that, we would be closed down from the end of October until April We are used to the snow, and the sand and salt are not far away, not are the snow plows. It is going to be 30 below tomorrow night. No wonder I am hurting. Yesterday it was 45F. Such big swings, and then the snow and rain last night. It is much colder today 0F and going to get colder before it gets better.

Hope you all have yourselves a good day.

I say no to babysitting if I have plans.
If you can't eat spinach, you can't eat seaweed. That's for me-went to dinner and it was all Korean food and I got sick-dizzy first. Guess I won't go to Art today. I should have known better.
We picked up Isaac-at first all of us weren't sure but then it all worked out-what a wonderful man. His young wife has an awful disease and her parents in Jamaica take care of her.
Brad kept me up part of the night-coughing, snoring. people are coming at 8 for brunch.
Bye for now, Mima

Default Hey There

Meme- Good for you ..Let them take the kids with them. They wouldn't be the first family to go away with the kds in the back seat.We never went away without ours. NEVER!. We had no one willing or who we would trust to leave them with.Your G/daughters are going to be heartbreakers.
We had Christy spayed this week. All the house training seems to be gone for her. Maybe it is the medication or surgery but I don't dare trust her out of the kitchun. I take her out and she makes a mess within an hour after. The hood she has to wear is making her frustrated too. OH JOY!I keep trying..
Tammy-We will go to the church our son goes to this sunday. They have decided to join that church and he will be baptised this sunday. He was baptised as a baby in the Greek church ,but, he says this time it is his choise.I still am looking for a church. I go to the one down the sreet. They are pushing for me to join ,but, my heart is not there. I don't feel that that is what I want to do.
We have been watching all the snow and the problems people are having in the north. I have never seen that so It is hard for me to understand how you all can get around in it. I guess you get used to it.
Mima-I can't take zetia either. I am on a powder that is much the same ,if not the same, as questrun, I was reading all the side effects. One is Weight loss. I said good I will take that one. IBS was bad a couple days ago but has settled down for now.Lots of gas. Not so good in public.I think billiting was an old armed forces term. I haven't heard it in a lot of years.
Happy- If you love all that cold you would not like Florida in the summer. I gets in the 90's. I don't like all that heat. Spring time is best.

Meme, the girls are so cute and hungry it sounds like!! (So is LITTLE RED!!!) How could your daughter not take care of your pup if you have taken care of their dog? I don't get it. I do have to say Good For You for saying that you have other plans. I agree that your kids have to wake up! Let me at 'em!!

Anne, I can relate to the aching from the temperatures. I hope we all will be feeling better soon.

Mima, I've never eaten at a Korean place before. Hope you are feeling better. Keep us up-to-date on Isaac! I'm sure it will be a wonderful experience for everyone.

Joanne, I wasn't baptized till I was an adult. Bob either. Our families were never regular church goers. We started attending regularly when Tim was in the 5th grade. We were all baptized not long after we started attending on a regular basis. I know several people who have been baptized again as adults.

We were out of school again today. It's fine with me because I'm saving sick days that will go into my severence pay. Greedy little dickens, aren't I????

Today I've been in the recliner with my legs elevated with ice on the knee. I've been reading. Finished High Calling by Evelyn Hubbard, about the Space Shuttle Columbia comander. Started Showdown by Ted Dekker.
I also work on our federal taxes. I'll work on the others later. Last year we took the paperwork to a CPA, and I swore I could have done a better job. I wasn't pleased, so Bob told me to give it a try. I've always done them myself, but last year we had some $ that Bob inherited that we put in investments, and I wasn't sure how to do that. Now I know! They charged us $140 last year. I think I'll tell Bob he owes me that much. ha!

Isaac wakes up singing!!!We dropped him off yesterday and met him at supper and went to the service. A pastor from Concord TN First Baptist gave the message -Pastor Sager who was hilarious!!!!!!! But powerful. Seems hichurch has a million and aa half budget for missions!!!!40 mission trips a year,
Haircut today and feeling better.
Bye for now-Mima--the missionaries are going on a dinner cruise tonight!!!!

Mima, I think if we had a business, I'd want to go to one also. I did put down the fee for last year on this year's form. I plan to go through it again this weekend, and maybe we'll just get it in the mail.

We are on a delay again in the morning! Unreal.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Meme - what cute little girls. They are sure growing up. Little Red is growing as well, and is so cute.

Some people just put material things ahead of anything. One day they will learn. Glad you stuck to your guns. Sounds like they have some tough lessons to learn, and you were a teacher, so you will teach them You go girl!

Mima - hope you are enjoying your missionary visitor. It is soon tax time here as well. They have to be filed by the end of March.

Tammy - That is a great way to play hookey! and get paid for it. Good for you. It has been snowing here all day. Not much accumulation but still some. It is 0 degrees F. It is supposed to snow tomorrow as well.

Now that I think about it, I want Spring to come. Just hate the pain it brings with it, but this week has not been pleasant. Started out with arms and legs feeling like they were cast in cement. Then hardly any sleep for the past 4 nights, and then the pain everywhere. My skin is very sensitive. Hmmm, sounds like a flare to me! The only thing that changed was the weather. It is cold, but humid and the humidity always makes me hurt. I like it best when it is too cold to snow.
