JOSIAN: That is terrible! What is wrong with people today? If they make a commitment, why can't they carry through? I am sorry that you are having to deal with that kind of stuff.

Hi all. Just a quick driveby. Really busy at work these days. My Wednesday weight-in went well. Maintained, which is all I'm trying to do right now. I have to work Monday, so no 4-day weekend for me.
Nosugar - nice to see you back. Sweet baby. Hope everythings works out for your family.
Moongoddess - welcome back.
Rosey - sounds like your family visit is a resounding success. Have a great time.
Happy weekend.

Hi gang . . . Just wanted to let you know I'm still alive and kicking . . . actually I'm not kicking at all . . . we are still caught in this horrendous heat and humidity and I'm trying to do as little moving as possible. :( That'll teach me for raving about how Nova Scotia was not usually too hot or humid and therefore you didn't need central air-conditioning . . . ha . . . :o

The good news is that my food meltdown really only lasted for half a day . . . guess I just don't have a really good pig-out in my heart anymore . . . so I'm counting getting right back on track as a non-scale kind of victory. I have not gotten back on the scale again, but I know I'm still retaining water since my ankles look like somebody snuck balloons in there. Hopefully this heat wave and my ankles will subside before next Wednesday's weigh-in. In the meantime, my mood has at least picked up.

Well, everybody . . . hope you all have a great weekend. Keep doing the good stuff and enjoy all the fireworks this weekend no matter which side of the US/Canada border you're on. See you soon. :carrot:

Hello All! I am new to all of this but thought I would give it a shot! I am 34 insulin dependent diabetic and tryin like heck to lose weight! I have tried weight watchers....just lasted a few weeks I kept waking up in the middle of the night crashing and would have to drink some oj....well with the points thing...that didnt work. I am now just trying to watch what I eat and I have still lost so I guess thats good. Well if anyone has any ideas that would be great....Thanks Natasha

happy saturday

hey all.......i'm down from a wt gain of 7.5 lbs to a gain of 2.8 lbs,,i think some was water weight..my feet are less swollen...so here i am one day at a timeing it....again

have plans to go shoppping and see a movie today

Monet--i live in loganville..we may have to get together sometime for coffee..i'm very familiar with the entire atlanta area and drive through your neck of the woods fairly often

Natasha--welcome...some times it is the combination of foods you are eating that causes that crash at night..I find it very scary when that happens..it only happens to me if I have to take steroids for something or if I don't eat enough protein for breakfast...you might want a combination of a protein / carb snack before bed time...peanut butter and crackers, milk or yogurt, or cheese / cracker.....there is so much to learn about how to eat to prevent those crashes balanced with the meds you are on ..Also, You will learn a lot reading this entire site but you might want to see a diabetes educator or nutritionist to really learn what's right for you. As far as weight watchers..I
think any program can work...you have to find what fits your lifestyle best...if you have 30 points to eat and you eat 30 pts that are higher in starches it might not work for you and will make your blood sugars rollercoaster. I think that's the difference for us diabetics .. we have to pay attention not only to how much , how many calories..but what goes in to the calories..the Core plan for WW is probably more diabetic friendly or Sugarbusters..I'm crazy about breads and anything sweet..but really try to balance out carbs/protein through out the day to maintain more balanced bloodsugars...

I'm not an expert but that has helped me ..good luck

Have a Happy Saturday Everyone;)

Hi all. :)

My mom is going to try to talk some sense into my former sister in law: What is Matthew going to remember most: His one day of school, or my wedding??? I think she was stressed about having to put her cat down and the move... Friskie was 12, with diabetes and failing kidneys, but it was still hard for her to do.

Natasha, I'm a Type I. I find that I do really well when I watch my carb intake. I limit my carbs to about 80 in the morning, then I eat protein, fats, and non-starchy veggies the rest of the day. I take Lantus, then a 10:1 carb/Novolog ratio. It works for me.... I am stable at around 110 all day long, on just Lantus and usually the one shot of Novolog for the morning carbs. I basically follow Suzanne Somers program with a few modifications. It works great for me. The fewer shots for me, the better I do. I was up to 6 shots a day for awhle and I just couldn't take it, and let my health go. I have gladly given up carbs for less pokes.

Monet, thanks... I too, am wondering what is up with people these days myself. The past year, I have lost my best friend from elementary school-she met a bad man and took off, my brother, who's pigheaded and p*ss*whipped by his new wife and we haven't spoke in 14 months, and now DN moving away. Can't take much more.

Gotta run. Working second job and JcP right now to boost the wedding fund... Time is counting down!!!!

Hugs,

Hi gang . . . wow, does half a day ever make a difference . . . The oppresive himidity has broken (dropped almost 40 percentage points from 9 am until now). We couldn't ask for a better Canada Day. Hope you are all having a great long weekend, too.
Now, if this weather can just stick around for a few days, maybe I can ditch some of this www before my Wednesday weigh-in. This is always one of my worst problems in the summer.

Welcome NATASHA. I'm a type II who takes Humulin N at bedtime and glyburide, metformin, and actos throughout the day. For any diabetic, the best thing you can do is try to balance your carb intake smoothly across the day and try to make sure you match your insulin to your carb intake as much as possible. Since I've been losing weight (since the beginning of the year) (albeit, extremely slowly), I find I have to vary the amount of insulin at bedtime to keep from bottoming out, too. Other than that, any diet plan works well so long as you keep an eye on those carbs.

Okay everybody . . . keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you soon. :carrot:

Thank you so much for the info. I have already learned quite a bit from the website! Yeah I hafta say I AM A CARBAHOLIC....whew that was tuff....hehe You would think after being diabetic for almost 11 years I would have it down. I have read quite a few are on the Sugarbusters...where can I get info on that? Same with the Suzanne Summers program? Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend...off to the lake tomorrow....XO

Ellen 07-02-2006 08:11 AM

Natasha, there is a forum on here for Sugarbusters. Its a nice group of folks there... here is the link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=86

Explore around that area. There are some information boards, and the support forum is a great place to ask questions. I have been involved on it for a few years and find the ladies a great encouragement.

Hi gang . . . hope everybody is having a wonderful long weekend . . . on either side of the US/Canada border.

Rosey . . . Glad you are having so much fun and keeping your BS under control. Way to go. Have a great 4th, yourself.

Natasha . . . Don't think there is a Suzanne Somers forum but maybe there is a review of the book you can access from the 3FC home page. I know there are other low-carb forums on here, you might want to explore them as well.

Monet . . . Hope your long weekend is going great, too.

Believe it or not, it is raining here this afternoon but so far the humidity hasn't been creeping into the house. Hopefully it will all blow away when the storm passes through. I definitely want to see the back end of this www before my weigh-in on Wednesday.

Have a good day of moving and shaking, my friends. See you all really soon. :carrot:
