I had a happy little whoosh after my fast yesterday and sit at 162 today. I knew those pounds on yesterday we retained fluid, it didn't feel like I should have gained after my careful eating on Saturday. So in a week I went down 4.5 pounds, which means that some of what I lost was also retained fluid from my lovely weekend with my daughters. It likely won't keep up to that amount of weight loss, but I am encouraged that what I was doing was working.
So today is an eating day. Older DD is coming this am to do her laundry and visit so I will get into work stuff a bit early today.
Pipsicle, I wish you luck. I think reworking yourself through the carb cravings will help. The first time I did it, I "backed into" low carb, bringing my carbs down over a week, because I just could not handle the withdrawal. And I do need to be lower carb at least, to fast well. Its even harder if I haven't done that.
Happy Monday friends

Pipsicle Maybe you little diet vacation will work for you. Sometimes I think it is good to step back and re-evaluate what I am doing and then get back to it.
Carol Sue So sorry you lost your long post. I hate it when those things happen to me. I'm glad your weight is back down and hope it keeps going.
Mad Congratulations on the whoosh. I knew you would get things moving down again because of your IF. Glad it finally happened.
My weight was back down to 187.4 this morning which I am so thankful. That 189.8 yesterday was just too close to 200 as far as I'm concerned. Mad, I think I am backing into low carb myself. The nice thing is that even with eating some of the foods I eat with DH, I am learning how to raise the percentages fat and eating a good amount of good protein and keeping the carbs below the protein and both protein and carbs lower than the fat hoping that it will be enough to cause my weight to come down.
We ordered the new upright freezer today and it will be almost a month before it will be delivered on 23rd of April. They say the hard freeze we recently had caused most peoples freezers that were in garages to go bad. I don't understand all that but it is what it is. By the time we get it maybe baby sister will have her new home and we can just move it there instead of to her son's house.
Going in the morning at 11 am to get some of this red out of my hair. Then I will come straight home because the pest control guy comes tomorrow afternoon to spray around our house.
My eating has been very good today. I wasn't hungry this morning which was good because I didn't have time to eat since DH got up early since we had so many places to go. So I ended up not eating until almost 4 pm and I had a snack around 7:45 so my eating window was less than a 4 hr eating window. I've have a lot of calories but the macro percentage ratios are perfect. A little high on sodium so weight just might be up a bit. I could take a Lasix but I am not too sure that I should do that on a low carb diet. Besides I don't think weight loss with fluid pills is real weight loss and I want the real weight loss. So weight might bounce up tomorrow.
I hope everyone has had a great day.

after a really good sleep I was 164.5 today. Which is really weird, I am not sure I even ate 2.5 pounds of food yesterday. I was in slight ketosis all day. I ate 2 eggs and bacon for brunch, with an avocado, and for supper lobster tails with butter and green salad. I think I was a bit high on protein though, but even so, it does seem odd.
Today, I write the exam for this course I have been plugging away at, and will be glad to have that under my belt.
The dog was sick in the night, and had to clean that up. Figures that the longest deepest sleep I have had in weeks, and I don't hear him, likely was scratching at the door, and I didn't hear him. Poor guy.
Trish, I would expect the power outage caused the issue with the freezer, starting up and down can be hard on the compressors.
I remember a time when we had a two day outage in the fall, we had our BBQ on in the front yard, and a couple of neighbours brought theirs out (we were here in our townhouse complex at the time) and the community of people brought out food as it thawed, we had a large community feast.
It would not have been fun had it gone on, but the "potluck" quality of it was great, and we have good memories of it.
Have a nice day friends.

I was so busy today and now I'm exhausted. We had so many places to go. I didn't sleep well and was up very early. DH wants me to cook a turkey for Easter but Wal-Mart didn't have any. That doesn't make sense but I couldn't find them. If I don't get it by tomorrow I won't be able to defrost it in time. They also didn't have any canned sliced beets but I should be able to get them at the local grocery store.
-_--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So here is what I posted last night but I was so tired I didn't even hit post! I went to bed. I was so tired I slept deep and instantly, and for 8.5 hours. I feel so much better.
I was right about being dehydrated. Today I am back up but only .8,so most of what I lost was true weight loss. I've done OMAD for the past couple days. 26 hour fast one day, 18 hours the next. So far I'm at 13_ hours because it was late by the time I ate yesterday. I didn't have breakfast those 2 days and neither did DH. When I see him getting the pan out to cook I tell him I don't want any so he doesn't cook for himself either. Yesterday we ate out and he ordered the strangest thing. It was a "pizza" but it had macaroni and cheese and French fries on it. He is such a picky eater I thought he was kidding when he ordered that. I tasted a piece with the mac and cheese and it was good but I took the fries off.
Mad I'm glad you got a good nights sleep, finally. Sorry to hear the dog was sick. Hope he's ok, too.
Trish, 189 isn't anywhere near 200 and I don't think you will ever weigh 200 again. But I understand not wanting the bump ups. Just when you think you should be down you go up. Its how our bodies work. The scale is really our worst enemy especially when we follow our plan and if we want to continue weighing daily we have to remember that. Weight never follows a straight line. Its like PA with hills and valleys. The point is to have it end down in one of the valleys.
Pipsicle, I agree with the others that we all need a dietcation sometimes. Regroup and decide which path you want to follow. You seem to be doing well with exercise so get your faulty eating over with and back to business. You have one more day to Apr 1.
I have to go for bloodwork soon for my April doctor appointment. I'm calling this my pandemic blood work because I don't expect any of my results to be good. The doctor is going to be wanting to change and add meds but I would rather just us this as a starting point and get new labs done in 3 months to compare. I know I can do better.
Today I want to look for a turkey and do some cleaning and laundry.
----------------------------
We went back to Wal-Mart to see if they put any turkeys out this AM but all they had was fresh Turkey's so I bought one and don't have to defrost it now. It was $$$ but we're rich! LOL. They also had sliced beets so now I have everything I need for Easter. I am cooking the turkey on a Saturday and that will be our dinner with leftovers on a Sunday. That is something DH will eat leftover. I want to cook the small half ham I have in the freezer on Easter but that will depend on if I defrost it in time.
Trish, you are right about the Lasix not being true weight loss. It's the same as me getting a lower weight when I'm dehydrated. Lasix is for when you have swollen ankles etc. It is dangerous to take otherwise because it lowers your potassium. My Dr gave it to me in case I ever needed it but I only took it once and I didn't like the way it made me feel. I want fat loss, not water loss.
Did your sister ever decide to go back to the Diet Center? I hope she is able to get back on track.

I was expecting a bump up in weight but I'm down .6 lbs. I assume that is because on a low carb keto like woe the sodium isn't a big problem. If I hadn't been going to beauty shop this morning, I probably would not have eaten a second time and had only OMAD yesterday.
Mad Glad you got your good sleep. I'm sure that bump isn't weight and it will come back down.
Carol Sue I hope you find a turkey today. I haven't even noticed if they have them here or not.
I decided that I will run by the store after I get through at beauty shop if I have time before I have to be here for pest control appt. I want to get some almond flour and more Vanilla protein shake for my coffee and some coconut oil for cooking. I saw a keto pizza casserole I would like to cook while baby sister and her hubby are here.

I did find a turkey Trish, a fresh one at Wal-Mart. We didn't bother looking at any other stores because DH was afraid it would not defrost in time. I didn't want turkey but now I'm looking forward to it.
I hope you like your new hair color. I used to change mine often but finally DH said pick a color and stick with it. I used to color it while he was gone fishing and I would hope he wouldn't notice it when he got home but he always did. We both like the highlights I've been doing so I will stick with that.
I cooked a really good dinner. I grilled chicken tenderloins and asparagus. The asparagus has been very tender and inexpensive but we will get tired of it. We are still not eating potatoes but we bought a new bag for potato salad for Easter. I will also make Slovak Easter Cheese and beets with horse radish. I took my half ham out to defrost. Its amazing how much I'm cooking in spite of going to step-sons for Easter but DH doesnt like their food. He will eat a little bit then come home and eat again. That's why he would rather I have it here but I get to do all the work.
That's good that your weight is back down again.
Here's a funny story. When we were in the store today a woman came in and walked past me. She was wearing a mask and sun glasses but I thought it was my neighbor. I waved and said Hi and she waved and said Hi but she gave me a strange look. DH asked me who it was and I said her name. He said that wasn't her. So I said Hi to a stranger and she probably spent the rest of the day wondering who I was! LOL
I'm hungry. I think I'll go to bed before I eat something.

Carol Sue Glad you got the turkey. Are you cooking it to take any to your step-daughters or just for your house. I agree, that woman probably still wonders who you were. LOL
Even my beautician was very unhappy with the way my hair turned out Friday so she was glad I decided to let her correct it. She and everybody likes the fact that my hair has natural highlights and she is used to that so that is how she did it this time. So I guess I will always have her highlight it instead of doing a color from now on. I really appreciated her doing it for me because they were having to pack up everything there since the owner of that building decided he wanted them out now. The city is giving the woman who owns the beauty shop trouble where she is moving because they had okayed everything but decided they had to check for asbestos which wasn't even sold any more when that building was built and then when they got that straightened out after holding up the work for a week of renovating the place for a beauty shop now they decided she has to have bigger water pipes. So she was in tears when she and her sons came to haul off the furniture etc. She has to find another place for a week or two and isn't sure where she is going to work during that time. My beautician said she knew to have a backup plan so she was able to move today to work in shop of another friend of hers. So sad when things like this goes on.
Then I come home and my nephew and his wife are having problems and DH and I've been trying to help them with their marriage and I wasn't ready for their stuff today and finally told her they need to see a marriage counselor because we can't help them. I think they are playing games with each other that may destroy their marriage. So a lot going on.
The good news is that I still managed to stay OP. My calories ended up being less than 1100 calories and while the percentages were close, they were balanced. So my woe is going very well so far. I told DH that I have a frozen cauliflower pizza crust to make us a pizza and I also want to try the crust less pizza. He kind of turned his nose up to the crust less which is of strange that it is called that because it is really a baked cheese crust with a small amount of almond flour in it with whatever toppings on it that is broiled until it is like you want it. They lady on YouTube said her picky husband didn't think he would like it but once he ate it he loved it.
Been a long day. I feel like this is Friday so I told DS that I'm going to feel like I have 2 weekends this week.

well, its alternate night, so I slept a little over 4 hours. Weight is 161 today, so comparing fasting weights its coming down fine. I am planning something with chicken today, and maybe some of the GF mushroom soup. Realized I have some Keto Buns in the freezer, so I could have something with one of them. They are made with flax, so like a savoury "Muffin in a Minute" that I have made in the past.
DH also decided he wanted to have an Easter dinner so I told him to create the menu and invite DD which he did.
We are to have ham and mashed potatoes. Not very fancy, and I think he can do the cooking. I will do the side dish he wants, which is broccoli with cheese sauce. And will make the dessert. Not even scalloped potatoes. He likes ham more than me, but I will humour him. We have not had ham in ages.
I finished the online course for benefits trustees. I had to put in a lot of hours the last week to get it done. There was more left of the course than I thought, but I only had another 2 weeks to finish it, and I just wanted it DONE. and now it is. Time to get back into a better routine. At least it won't include doing an hour of the course or feeling badly because I didn't do it. (it was kind of boring in sections) The online exam was ok, I did very well, but I don't want to be in school and writing exams anymore. Too old for that stuff. I will do workshops, but nothing with exams anymore. I am teaching a one day course in a couple of weeks, so I will get ready for that a bit.
I was kind of planning for fish and chips on Good Friday, but the place that has GF fryer and a good recipe is 30 minutes away. And that is NOT low carb or keto. So I bought some frozen cod, and will maybe do a nice pan fried fish. I can make crumbs from pork rinds, and add spices to coat the fish. then have whatever side dishes I like.
Trish: glad you got the hair the way you like, and good for you for getting out of the middle of someone else's marriage. Its one thing to be supportive of struggles, but you are right, they need a marriage counsellor.
Carol: what day are you doing the Turkey? Easter is still a few days away. I would love to have enough people over for a small turkey. Maybe by October for our Thanksgiving, before DD departs for Antarctica. (If that job is still there in the Covid world)
Have a good day friends.

Mad, I am doing the turkey on Saturday. There will be enough left over if DH wants it on Easter, too. My half ham I will cook on Sunday morning because I love ham and I've been waiting for this. Step son will have hàm but he cooks his different than I do. DH doesn't like it. Its more that he doesn't like change. He wants what we always have. Also, daughter in law makes fancy side dishes that he won't even try. I will make potato salad to take and some to leave at home. The Easter Cheese and beet horseradish will be split between us and the 2 step children. As far as I know step daughter is doing her own meal.
My weight is down .4 to 192. Not great but not up. I had one OMAD. And 2 18 HR. They would be OMAD but I ate a snack. The main thing is no food after dinner. No breakfast for 3 days but one day I ate it at noon. I will not give up eggs completely but I want to push for 189. Right now I am more concerned with eating in a short window and not concerned with what I eat. But I'm not eating high carb either.. Somewhat moderate. I think I am controlling my overeating. That needs to be a lifetime thing.
Trish, DH would not eat those crusts. He is tired of pizza now, too. That was something quick and easy for us and I could always put the toppings in a salad. His list of foods is getting smaller. We are going to be trying a new restaurant since one of our favorites closed. Our town doesn't have more Italians than usual but it has Italian restaurants and pizza shops on every block. We don't like them because everything is pasta based. We like restaurants that have a variety. Beef, chicken, pork and seafood, dinners, sandwiches, salads. So with the weather warming up we will venture out.
Trish, I'm sorry to hear the salon owner is having problems. City regulations make it tough on small business owners. I hope it works out for her. This is her income and the longer she is closed there's a chance she will lose customers long term.
Today is casino day. Also, I ordered a new tablet and it might come today. I'm looking forward to that. Such an exciting life I live. LOL
My new tablet came. Now I want to stay home and play with it.

Carol Sue When reading about the pizza and restaurants etc, I remembered you telling us about him ordering a pizza topped with mac and cheese and fries. I suppose the mac and cheese would taste good but not sure about the fries. So funny and strange to me. I'm glad you got your tablet and understand wanting to stay home and play with it. I hope y'alls day at the casino is good.
You and Mad planning Easter meals and I haven't even thought about it. My baby sister will be spending the weekend with us and we plan for us 3 sisters and our hubbies to go out to eat Saturday. Nothing planned for Easter Sunday. We made our plans for Saturday forgetting that we are supposed to go to a birthday party for baby sister's little grandson. I really don't want to miss at least going by there for a few minutes to take his BD card and money. He is turning 7 and he is the one whose parents are not getting along very well right now. I feel like we really need to go for him. He is such a darling and baby sister, BIL and I are noticing that this is all making him feel very insecure. I am so glad they are moving back because they can be for that little boy what my grandmother was for me when I went through the same thing with my parents when I was growing up.
Mad You are still staying very busy with your workshops etc. I think that is amazing to be able to do that. Also your Easter plans sounds good.
I read an article on FB that I even printed out on mistakes people make with keto eating in the 70s. I am having the potty issues that seems to go with first 2 weeks and they say it will go away as I make the transition. Any way, one of the things they say is that some people (which has been me in the past) gives up too soon because we don't give it time to see the results we want. I am trying to remember that right now. I don't really know how I could go potty as much as I am and not see it on the scale but I probably need to check my measurements. I do feel lighter even though the scale doesn't match the feeling. Even my pants are feeling loose again.
I plan to make pizza today and use the caulipower crust. The only thing about these frozen things like this is they are very high in sodium.
Weight this morning was up .2 lbs so I ended March with a 2.2 lb gain this month. I am determined to have loss by the end of April. Switching things up today. I had 1 avocado, slice of ham and 2 fried eggs for breakfast. I will have pizza with a salad and try to not eat anything else. I really do much better if I do not eat at night so I hope I can do it. DH is into slices of sandwich meat for snacks and I can eat a couple of slices if I need it for a snack and still stay within 7 or 8 hr IF window.
Have good day everybody.

Trish, you will probably get a whoosh soon from your new plan. There is no reason for you to not lose. Remember, deli meat has a lot of sodium too but once the water weight lets loose you should get a drop.
Another good casino day. I'm holding my breath for this winning streak to end. I had a 28 hour fast. I ended it with 500 calories in 1 hour and started a new fast. I'm going to cook the turkey tomorrow because it is,totally defrosted and cannot hold until Saturday. There will still be leftovers to eat on Saturday as hot turkey sandwiches.
We,were almost in an accident on the,way home. DH wasn't paying attention and thought the light turned green but it was a green arrow for a left turn. He went through the red light and almost collided with another car. I bet the other guy had a few choice words for him!
I really like my new tablet but I'm still figuring it out. I was reading a book by Gary Taubes. He is revered as an expert on obesity. He was saying that eating less and exercise does NOT lead to weight loss. Well,,when I weighed 150 I started eating less and went to exercise classes twice a week. I lost 25 lbs. I kept that off for 10 years, continuing to eat less and dancing a few nights a week. After I met DH I started eating more again and stopped exercises and dancing and I gained 80 lbs. So explain how the amount I ate and moved had nothing to do with any of this! If its not the amount we eat or how much we move, what is it? He also says that exercise just makes you eat more but its the opposite for me. I am curious to see where he's going with this.

Carol Sue I am with you. I lost weight and was losing when DH#2 and I got married. I ate OMAD and was very active then when I married and started eating with him and the children, I started gaining the weight back. I'm not good at doing my exercise like I should but I know I actually feel better when I did.
I had another good day although I did have a 8 hr eating window so not sure how that will affect my weight tomorrow. At least I'm doing various eating windows but I am doing IF and I'm not eating really high calories. The sodium is kind of high, but trying to drink plenty of water.
Glad your DH is on a winning streak and thank God you didn't have an accident.

Good morning friends: delighted to be 162 after an eating day yesterday. I stay keto but did have a small square of dark chocolate for my dessert after supper.
DH had his appointment with the dental surgeon and will have more surgery in a few weeks. It may affect when we go north to open up the cottage. Guess what? So what, it hardly matters. What's a few days here or there in Covid time. We will tell DD about it when she comes on Sunday, as she has given up her Airbnb apartment at that point. She doesn't want to stay with us too long so she would be most affected.
Today is busy with the car going in to get the snow tires removed, I get my nails done and have a meeting in the afternoon and another in the evening. In these times, that seems downright hectic. Fortunately I slept really well last night. I will take the car in soon and drop it off and walk back home with Buddy. Its very cold and windy, the thermometer say 4 C but with the wind it will feel much colder so I will bundle up, and maybe even wear the parka one last time. After this weekend we have double digits forecast every day for April, so that seems fine. I can drop that parka at the dry cleaners after the long weekend.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Mad I'm glad your weight is coming down nicely. Our temps today are similar to yours at 32F and it's snowing. One last hurrah before spring. As I was preparing the turkey to put in the oven and watching the snow it felt like Thansgiving. I'm so glad its not. I don't want another winter.
I am happy to see my weight at 190.2 down 1.8. These longer fasts are helping my weight. I hope they are helping the rest of my body. When I ate last night I had a baked potato. DHs brother ate a baked potato and had shoulder and hand pain like DH gets. So I wanted to see if I would get it, but no, so far.
I didn't have any protein yesterday but I will make up for it with turkey today. It will be done at 2 pm and I will not eat until then. My stomach is getting used to being empty. I get hungry but its bearable hunger, not shaky and if I'm busy it goes away. Once I overeat I will lose this. One more lb and I will be 189. I pray that I can stay on track and continue down.
By the way, I just heard virus cases are up. WTH? Why, with millions getting the vaccine? And I heard that J&J screwed up a million doses.Oops!

My weight is up to 188.0 ths morning which is no surprise since my sodium was very high. The calories and other numbers were high as well although balanced. Regardless it is normal for me to have a lb or 2 gain after having pizza. So all is well and normal. Oh, I almost forgot. My FBG was 93 this morning. That is Low carbing that does it for me.
Carol Sue Sounds like your DH and his brother may have an allergy to something in the potatoes or it may be genetic.
Glad your weight is down and hopefully it will continue.
Mad Looks like you are getting things together and your weight is coming back down.
I read last night that CDC leader says that once we have the vaccine we are not likely to ever get the virus and we no longer have to wear a mask. Of course, I haven't heard it from anyone but her so I will wear a mask wherever requested/required.
Barbecued chicken drumsticks with salad and Keto Creamed spinach I saw made on YouTube. I used fresh spinach but next time will use frozen. It looks delicious. There will be one left over drumstick so I will have it as a snack tonight and will end up with a 4 hr eating window today. Baby sister and BIL will be here tomorrow night and leave Monday morning. So I plan to more keto like then. Might do a one week of AI.
Have a nice day everyone.
