Carol Sue I am so sorry. I will keep you in my prayers... praying it isn't serious and for a quick recovery.
|
Feeling fine now. Having a Cath today to see what's up. Tha k you for the prayers.
|
Carol Sue I am glad you are feeling better and pray you will continue to feel better and better. When you feel like it please let us know what the cath reveals and what the treatment will be. Prayers will continue for you.
First FBS around 9:30 was 105. Didn't eat breakfast today and still fasted until main meal and around 3 FBS was 97. I am so thrilled with these results. I had cod fish for lunch and now I am making this OMAD as I plan to fast until breakfast tomorrow. Weight was 218.2 this morning, but I keep in mind that Dr. Berg says it can be up to 6 weeks before any real weight loss. However, in the mean time having my FBS this low shows me that I am burning fat and encourages me to continue OP. fatmad I hope all is well with you. |
Cath went great. I will gine details to mow when I should be home.

I think my LCHF diet with IF is beginning to really take hold. I have had energy hit me this evening. I am rearranging my kitchen because I had to throw out my Air fryer because the Teflon has a big scratch on the bottom and I don't have any idea how that happened. I've decided doing LCHF that I don't eat low fat any more that I don't need another one. I am seeing a lot of great looking keto recipes that has to be cooked in the oven. I won't heat my big oven to cook anything especially with spring and summer coming up since TX can have some hot days on those days. My little oven is too small. So I told DH I want another large countertop oven like I had in SC. I found a nice big rotisserie convection oven at Amazon and ordered it last night. It will be easy to use without heating the house and running the electric bill up.
I can't believe the energy I've had tonight. I've been cleaning and move things around so I'll be ready for the oven when it comes sometime Saturday and I'm not tired and my back didn't hurt. I feel myself wanting to clean house and get organized which I haven't felt that good since I lived in SC. I want to get my house clean enough to have company and even entertain. I found Moringa tea bags at Drug Emporium and will go get a couple of boxes tomorrow. I look forward to taking that too. Walmart carries both the tea and powder and pills with 2 day free shipping if you pick it up at the store, but Drug Emporium has them in their Vitamin section. |
oh my, I went on call Thursday night and got busy and missed a lot. Carol I am glad you are ok. Was it just indigestion or were the chest pains caused from more heart problems?
Trish: glad you are problem solving for cooking for your climate. We don't usually have the prolonged heat over the summer that you do. I cook a lot on the outdoor bbq in summer to avoid heating up the house, and sometime cook extra meals for reheating etc. (like chicken to cut up onto a salad etc) at the same time. But what you have is different. I usually get at least 1-2 cooler days a week to do some indoor cooking. I used to cook and cool stuff like macaroni and potatoes for salads later in the week on the cooler days. Now I don't do that, but the meat works the same way. My little TMI constipation problem is still plaguing me, but I went this am. Hope that will continue but it's difficult. younger DD is having the same issue, I wonder if its a medication, there is one we both take, will have to look that up! Its quite cold this morning but will warm up to near the freezing mark this afternoon, I hope to ski in a nearby conservation area. We have had enough snow here for that to be possible, so I don't have to drive a long way. This is hard for DH, because he doesn't want to do the drive by himself. Maybe sometime next week. Looking forward to hearing from you carol |
fatmad I know y'all are getting loads of snow this year. I would have loved if you could have share some with me. LOL I can't believe it is 38 degrees today and misting, but will stop raining in a bit and supposed to get up to 56 later this afternoon.
Years ago I used to take one of my days off and do all my cooking on the outside grill when my kids were in their teens and put the meat in the freezer. Then they could go take out what they wanted to eat when their Dad and I were working add what veggies they wanted with no problem. I don't cook that much these days since it is just us. My weight seems to have come up to 218 and be stuck there, but that does give me a 3.4 loss for the month which is progress for me. FBG was 119, but then all this was taken an hour earlier and so don't know if it would have been better or worse an hour later. However, on the good side is that I woke up before 7 and got my morning praying done which is how I relax and prepare for my day which was so much better than the way I have felt before starting this semi keto/lchf way. Time changes March 10th so that will be my normal wake up time then so may as well get used to it. Carol Sue I am looking forward to checking in here when I get back home this afternoon to hear you are home and doing well. This is Friday so I'm headed out. It will be a long morning for me as I am going to 2 stores and by the doctor's office to pay my bill that I they got mixed up and payed on DH bill. I tried to get them to change it and put the payment on my bill since his wasn't due till this month when it comes out at the end of the month. No one seemed to know how to correct their mistake even after us faxing them a copy of the cleared check which had reference to how they were to apply the amounts. It turned out to be easier to just drop the matter and go pay my bill. Modern technology just doesn't seem to work as good as we were able to do when it was done by people. So sad. Y'all have a good day. |
Carol Sue I'm hoping that you are still recovering and just had to stay over in the hospital another night and everything is good. Prayers continue for you dear friend.
fatmad I notice that some days BMs are better than others and some days I don't even have one but they are rare since I started this woe. I hope you got some skiing in. I got the Moringa tea and have had 2 cups of it today. So far no side effects, but only ate one meal today and I believe I am going to be fine with just the one meal. Although my weight is not moving much, I believe it will. According to Dr. Berg it can take up to 6 weeks before you see weight come down. I've gotten through the first 2 weeks so any time within the next 4 weeks I should see some kind of good changes on the scale. One of the benefits of Moringa is supposed to be weight loss and better blood sugar readings. It is supposed to give you energy. I told DH that I hope it doesn't hit me in the middle of the night so I can't sleep. LOL. I also purchased the 2 types of sweeteners that Dr. Berg uses in his keto desserts. I came home and got DH and we went to Walmart and I got the few other things I can make. I found a keto recipe on FB keto recipes for a 1 c cheesecake that can be made like we make the 1 Minute muffin. I'm looking forward to trying that. I also got a recipe for making keto brownies and keto fudge. I also found a recipe for a keto Mexican taco meal that doesn't use cornmeal but supposedly will have a cornmeal texture. If they are good, I will share on the diabetic recipes. Fasted until 3:30 and my bs reading was 101. Very exciting. I know Dr. Fung says not to do OMAD in the beginning but it is so tempting to eat only OMAD when I see such great results. |
Hi everyone. I got home around 4 this afternoon. I did try to post from the hospital on my phone but nurses, aids, doctors, social workers kept coming in and interrupted me.
Here's the full story. I have been having some "discomfort" lately and since I don't get actual chest pains ever, it's hard to know what it is. It got a little intense Wednesday evening so we called the ambulance. When I got there, cardiac enzymes were negative so they just put me in a room for "observation." Checked enzymes again later, and they came up positive during the night. So I was admitted and put on a blood thinner drip. They scheduled me for a cath so no food or drink. They were busy, so I got tacked on at the end of the day, and didn't get breakfast or lunch. By the time they got done with me it was 8PM. I got back to the room and my dinner was waiting. The nurse asked if I wanted it heated up but I said no. By that time, my stomach was used to not having food. It didn't help with weight or blood sugar though because I have an allergy to IVP Dye and they had to pump me full of Prednisone. Wt is up 3 lbs to 184 and blood sugar has been in the 300s all day and still is. But that will all come back to normal in a few days. In April when I had the heart attack they gave me a stent. That stent blocked up and caused the problem. They fixed it with balloon angioplasty. When I got the stent back in April, the doctor who did it was the one who told me I needed the heart valve replaced. It just so happened that it was my cardiologist who did the cath yesterday and when he was finished he told me he checked the valve and it does not need replaced. The other doc saw the leaking and came to that conclusion, but my doctor has been "watching" this valve since my heart surgery in 2008 and he said although it is leaking, it is still doing it's job and there has really been no change. That is the most wonderful news and has me floating on a cloud today. I was so worried about that valve replacement surgery and knowing I don't need it has me so happy!!! Today I was reading online about stent restenosis. It seems to be very common. When you have an issue and get a stent you tend to think things are fixed for a while but that's not always true. Mine blocked up in only 10 months. Almost a waste of time to get them, but if your artery is blocked you have to do something. I have pain, swelling and bruising in the groin area but that is normal and will gradually subside. I have some limitations, such as no driving, bathing (showers only), lifting, stairs only when necessary. But no unexpected complications. I am probably in the best condition I have been in for several months so it is all good. As an extra bonus, DH played a lottery number today and won $3000. I have no reason to be unhappy today!!! There will be bills, ambulance and hospital copays, but seems DH has that covered. LOL Trish, your FBG has dropped like a rock and weight is bouncing in a lower range, too. You are doing great. Mad, our weather is more like yours than Trish's. We get a lot of cold and some snow from November through March and our summers have some very hot days, but most are just nicely warm. Our problem in the summer is the humidity. We have an outside grill but I don't like to use it much because standing out in the hot sun cooking is not my cup of tea. My summer cooking is mostly top of the stove with very little oven use. And we eat out a lot. I don't cook ahead because DH does not eat leftovers....wants his food freshly cooked. DH wanted an air fryer but I didn't. What I did get was a combination air fryer/convection/toaster oven. I have only used it a couple times but I like it OK and will probably use it over the summer for some smaller things. My other toaster oven was so small it was almost useless, so this one is better. Tonight I get to sleep in my own bed and no one will be bothering me to check vitals. LOL |
We were cross posting, Trish. Dr Fung seems to be very flexible on meal frequency. If OMAD works best for you just do it. He said he does it often so he can eat with his family at dinner. He seems to have preferences, but goes along with anything you do that works for you, and this is working for you. I hope you start to see more drops on the scale soon.
I can't make keto sweets because DH is the sweet eater and he wants the real deal. I am interested in the mug muffin and cheesecake though for myself. I do best with sweets if I don't have a lot of extras sitting around. Even weight loss friendly sweets are bad if you overeat them. |
Carol Sue - Thanks for sharing your story with us tonight. I have had you on my mind all day. I am so happy that you are okay and that you don't have to have the valve replacement. Yahoo on DH winning the money to help with medical bills. Looks like has really answered our prayer plus more. I am so grateful to Him for taking such good care of you.
I have a big grill to cook on outside, but it gets too hot to go out there to cook and I hate cleaning it. It is so much easier to grill on my pan that I have that I can use to grill on my stove top too. DH likes pork chops and cod fish cooked on the stove top grill. I love it because the clean up is so much easier and I don't have to go out in the heat to cook with it and can grill year round. I got hungry tonight around 10ish, but decided not to have a snack because I hope I can fast until 3ish tomorrow and have only one meal. With the BPC, moringa tea and regular coffee I drink, it should be easy to get into the habit of eating OMAD at least a few days a week. So far, I'm not having the shakiness the past few days. I will keep it going this way as long as I can. |
Good deep sleep last night. Blood sugar down to 147 .Thank you Glimiperide. Wt down to 182. All is getting back to normal. I can't get over how happy I am.
Trish I love my stove top grill pans too. I have two of them so I can be using both at the same time. I rub Olive oil on fresh asparagus and grill it. So good. We like it well blackened and it cooks while our meat is on the other pan. I also have a smokeless indoor electric grill but have never even taken it out of the box. We spotted it on a clearance table and couldn't pass up the price. I could cook so many good things if DH would eat them. Some things he just doesn't like the name, like squash or hash. I did get him to eat corned beef hash. He tried it because it has potatoes in it and now he loves it. My mother used to form it into patties and fry it. Ill have to try that one on him. And he won't eat goulash even though it's the same as beef stew. Its because of the name. He grew up with completely different food than I did and is not very adventurous. So it's time for another cup of coffee and some quiet time with my book before DH gets up. bbl |
Carol Sue, I am relieved and so pleased that you are doing better and that all the problems have gone away, and even "gotten better" with no surgery needed now. I know that's a big weight lifted and I can understand how pleased you are. Yes, it seems all is well. I am so glad your DH is taking good care of you too, only fair after you being such a trouper for him.
Trish: The only issue with OMAD is that over time, your body will get used to the lower calories and will readjust to that set point. Dr. Fung says very few will enough calories doing OMAD to make up for the skipped meal. Its fine to do 1-2 times per week though. On the sites we see lots of people getting into stalls because they eat OMAD all the time. So enjoy it periodically, but don't do it every day. But if you find that doing so 1-2 times a week gets you losing weight, that is perfect. That was how I started with fasting. I couldn't quite go 24 hours, so I did 23 and OMAD a few times a week, and 2 MAD with 16-18 hours fasting the rest of the time. And I started to lose weight, just like that! It was wonderful. The nice for me was that it also left room for 36 and 42 hour fasting to come in and kick start when I slowed weight loss that way. Today I am 151. Waist still 33 inches. So all good, I did not fast the last two days. I think that when I get constipated, I need to eat to kick start the BMs. I know that sounds odd, but one of the ways that the body triggers the muscles of the bowel to contract is to fill the stomach. the whole digestive tract works together, so not really surprising. If things keep moving again today I will feel like I can fast again. Yesterday I did have some energy at least. I didn't get out skiing, but did get some housework done, including re-organizing my bedroom closet. I could not yet switch the summer/spring stuff for the winter, but got rid of more stuff and have figure that the majority of my winter skirts and dresses will be going out in the spring. They will not need to be packed away. Most are pretty old anyhow. But I will be able to enjoy buying some new things next fall. I think my other issue is that I do need to be more active and fit. I have no doubt that depression is taking a physical toll on me, but I feel like it is lifting with the longer days and sunshine coming out more often. Even though I was feeling better mentally, I was still physically dragged down. I have not been doing yoga, or even walking much. Of course I can blame the weather for the walking, but not the rest. So Friends, Have a good day, spring is just around the corner! |
Carol Sue I put 2 muffin recipes in the Diabetic recipes that I plan to use. In fact, I plan to make one this morning and have an egg, bacon cheese type of Egg McMuffin this morning. If you go on line there are loads of different recipes. Also fatmad shared on a few pages back that she uses. Now that we have almond and coconut flour among others there are so many different ways we can make them for variety, but I wanted something rather simple and these 2 are very simple and easy. I plan to play around with the flour ones and I used to love the 1 Minute Flax Muffin and decided to post it on the recipes as well.
I am so gad you are feeling well and I know it is so much easier when you know you don't have to have the valve surgery because it gives you peace. Also it shows that your heart is not getting worse. I love knowing that our bodies make brand new cells ever so often and that in a year you are like a new person from who I am now. I hope what I'm learning to do is helping me rebuild healthier cells to improve my health. If I kept eating the way I was before, I feel I would have been making sicker cells instead. Great knowledge. fatmad Thanks for the reminder. I know I should stay with the 8:16 plan with my 2MAD and 1 snack for a while any way. I do remember that when I was a carhop for a while that I lost weight for a while but never got below 150 lbs because I only ate 1 meal each day. I was doing the same thing when I married DH # 2 and never got below 150 then either. I surely would love to get down below that this time. I think I will stick to the 8 hr window for now and just throw in a longer fast of 20 hrs or more a couple of days a week. Sorry you didn't get to get out to ski. I know you enjoy it. Y'all have a lot of weather for it this year. I can't believe that I got up today and checked the weather and we are having another week of cold weather in the 40s. It was supposed to be in the 50s and 60s, but it isn't going that way. I think the ground hog lied to us this year. LOL The only I don't complain about it is that I think about the 3 digits we will have in July or August. So will take this as long as we can. I love spring and the longer days and we jump our time forward so we have longer day light. FBG was 116 this morning but weight seems to be hanging around 218. It showed a 217.8 but kept bouncing back up to 218. So maybe I will get a downward move soon. I did measure this morning and was surprised that I had not measured since 12-1-2018. So this was my first measure of the year. It felt good to see that I had lost 7 inches over all. So that makes me happy. I have to get busy and read my book and try to do some of the Bible study questions. I can't believe how busy I get each week since I started this class. We have 2 more classes and as much as I love them, I'm not sure we will do another one. However, to support my niece, I will do another one with her if they decide to. Y'all have a great day. |
