RUTH ~ sorry to hear your back is bothering you; I have the same issues at times. If I lay the wrong way, or sit too slumped over, or lift something that is really too awkward or heavy for me ... I end up with pain too. I was born with Spina Bifida, so this is something I have to watch all the time. Good for you losing another pound!

That is a dilemna -- what to eat at Disney World? We have a Wonderland in Canada (never been, but to the CNE, yes); my family members said that the food cost a lot there, but the US might be a deal compared to here. What about food booths that cater to cultural foods like Chinese, Indian, Ukraine, Japanese, Vietnese, etc? You could scour them for veggie and lean meat dishes. I might also suggest that you stock up on some healthy protein bars just in case; stash a box of your favorite ones in your suitcase.

When I went to Mexico when I was younger, food and the water was an issue for us; we had to drink bottled water that thankfully was supplied by the nice hotel we were in, but the food in the market helped me lose 9 lbs whilst I was there. I won't turn your stomach with the gross details.

Mr. Z ~ sounds like you had a great time. I bought my DH a pair of snowshoes for Christmas one year; he loved trouncing thru the back 40 when we lived in the country ... I use my poles and do ski-walking now; it really helps my back when walking in the snow (another issue for people with SB).

HI PEA ~ nice to see you back here; I try to be accountable to myself first, by writing down everything I eat each day. That has really been very helpful for me lately; I seem to stay on plan much better by doing that. Some people prefer to be accountable to others, but tracking works for me. If it works for you, by all means do it!

We had beautiful for the last 2 days and so glad becuz the temps fell down to at least -15C last night and all the trees had this thick (but lovely) coating of Jack Frost on them this AM. JACK has really been busy up here this year ~ have a great week everyone ... Rosebud

Good morning, everyone. The weather is dry, low 40's F, and sunny. My trainer really worked me hard this morning. Today was an intense cardio day. Thursday will be a power lifting day. My cat Lucas is now an official mouser. At 4am, he stormed into my room and was meowing very loudly and kept pestering me to get up. I tried to ignore him, but he wouldn't stop pawing my face. I stumbled out of bed and reluctantly followed him to his water bowl. And lo and behold, in the water was a recently deceased mouse. Lucas was very proud of himself and if he could speak he would most likely have said, "Look. I did that. Aren't you proud of me?" I told Lucas, good cat, and gave him a tuna treat. Then, while Lucas wasn't looking, I said a prayer for the recently departed and performed a burial at sea. The previous cat, Philo, was a mouser as well. I'm relieved that Lucas has learned his role in the household. For awhile, I was concerned that we might have had to adopt another cat who was older and a proven mouser.

Default back home and resting up

We had a long travel day, some weather delays coming back to Toronto and from the airport home. My foot hurt a lot at times, and I took some codeine before bed and slept well, but am a little discombobulated due to time zone changes. My exercise today was just playing with the dog and doing housework and unpacking etc. Will plan to see my folks tomorrow. The foot is still paining me some, but no obvious bruising or tenderness. Am so happy to see my lovely daughter and little dog again. Feels good to be home, no matter how nice the holiday.
Laura, I am about 1.5 hours from you, but if you ever want to meet up in the waterloo area, let me know.
Mr. Z, so glad you enjoyed your hiking holiday. I would highly recommend snowshoes or skis for the joy of it too. And I do plan on getting those walking poles for when the snow goes away.
Didn't weigh in today since I didn't do a full night of sleep, but did eat sensibly and did the groceries and managed not to buy all the treats in the store. Its still hard not to do it. Glad I took my daughter, keeps me honest!

went to see my folks today. Managed not to eat all the treats in their house, (just full of cakes, cookies, candy, chocolate etc) by having lunch before getting their, and took my mother out for supper, leaving Dad to have 2 glorious hours alone in the house. A treat for both of them!
Stayed within calories just fine, there is a great restaurant in their town that has an excellent low-cal and low carb menu. Haven't been getting much exercise since getting home, that changes tomorrow!

Sorry I've not checked in. My back is giving me grief when I spend time here. I'm actually considering going to the doctor about it since it's now been a week.
BGL is running fine lately but I did have a scale blip this morning. Darn Chinese Buffet reached out and hauled me in there yesterday so I've got the usual 2-3 pounds of water weight. Grrr! I swear it's an addiction like booze or drugs. Super clean eats are on the menu today with no soy sauce or marinades.
Hope your day is happy and healthy.

First mini-goal finally met with going under 180 at last. next mini goal in 173 and below. That was the weight when I went into labour with my last baby. (almost 18 years ago, hmm, don't think I can lose 7 pounds in less than a month in time for the birthing day, thats not realistic.)
Ruth, glad you will see your doc. this is going on too long. If things check out ok I would highly recommend a good chiropractor, I have neck problems and it really helps, and don't have to use meds so much, which is good as I am allergic to aspirin and advil. I also use tens machines, which are down in price, you can get one for under $100 now, and other than battery replacement will last for years. They too are very safe and save your liver and kidneys from the side effects of pain meds. Even then, sometimes you need the pain relievers as part of the healing just to reset yourself.
Hope you feel better soon, chronic pain can drag you down, so you are so wise to take care of yourself.
I am doing a work day today. Vacation about done.

Default something is wrong with me!

Since getting home from my ski holiday I have been busy and avoiding exercise because of my sore foot. But last night, while watching women's hockey and figure skating, I just couldn't stand sitting still, so I got on the treadmill. Did 35 minutes! What's up with that, why can't I just sit around?
Very odd.
Have to make a sugar free dessert now, having friends over for supper tonight. Have a good day everyone.

I seem to have bronchitis or something which may have been the cause of the sore back - lungs are in the back too. Anyhow, I'll hit the doc next week and get something to clear it up because it's just a bit over two weeks to Disney.

Food has been fine and the ticker is still holding. Maybe a drop over the weekend?

HI TIMOBA ~ nice to have you drop by for a bit; you are doing good with your sugars, but yes, we have to watch them lows too.

RUTH ~ I didn't realize that it had been so long since I was last in here too; have been a bit busier this week myself. Glad that you are going to see the doc to get behind that pain in your back; I thought you meant lower back. Will send up some prayers for you as well as we want you well before you go on your trip too.

I was naughty on Friday and got into some nachos and am paying for it with water retention in my legs today (from the salt). I have to commit to banish those things, and that's it! I did so well all month sticking to my eating plan too. I know that it will be OK calwise but it's not good for me in other ways, so I made a big note to self that says ~ NO MORE JUNKIES!!! Have something healthier instead. I am going to commit March to that end; as I want a no junkies month.

MAD ~ you are doing good and have such great momentum going; hope your foot is well on the mend ...

Mr. Z ~ We used to have a cat named Sarah who was a fab mouser and she would bring her gifts right to my younger sister beside her bed; so then she would wake up and step out of bed with her bare feet right onto a dead squishy rodent. Well, let's just say that she was none too pleased!

I spent my morning doing housechores and tried to get our spare room sorted a bit. Well, at least I got some of that done. March is the month to get the last of that kind of stuff done, as April is right around the corner and then we want to go out to our lot then as soon as the snow is gone.

We had gorgeous weather today; mostly clear skies with a few pretty wispy clouds and lots of all day long! The temps were up into the +pluses+ and only dropped back down when the sun went to sleep. Had good on plan day today; and no junkies.

Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful too ...

Hmm, both times I've had pneumonia I had a sore back too. In fact, the first time I had a chiropractor appointment that got cancelled because my chiropractor had ....pneumonia. As soon as she said it the penny dropped and I realized why I had this back pain and tiredness.
Yes, doctor for you my dear. Whether is that or something else, getting it checked out is important.

I know how hard this is. My younger daughter brought home chips and candy from work so I have had to be mindful to stay on track. It does get easier over time and I mostly keep the junk out of the house.
evening snacking is a major struggle for me.
We all have struggles. Tonight at supper I managed not to eat everything on my plate at the restaurant. I thought about someone who posted that she thinks of sugary stuff as an allergy, stuff she can't eat anymore. I did that with dessert. Avoided by thinking that I am allergic to it. Just like I can't have lemonade anymore, I can't have sweets anymore.
It WILL get better for you too. However you have to reset your mind or body, it will get better.

Funny we are talking about "junkies" because I got some Friday for my dinner guests. I had them out on the counter but forgot to serve them. Off and on yesterday I was snacking on a wasabi pea or a pretzel. Hmmmm. Could that be why the scale is up again? Duh!

I need to reset both mind and body. Defrag and compress coming up.

Default Last post for February

I got out skiing again today, and the foot is a bit sore but not bad. I stayed on a very flat trial, so no herringbone or snowplow to put extra stress on the foot, and so it seems fine. Watching the end of the Olympics today, and getting ready to go back to work tomorrow. Planning my meals for the week, in hopes that this will make it easier to stick to the eating plan when I get busy.
My husband hates meal planning, but he also doesn't understand hypoglycemia, so i will just leave him out of it.

I will do my blood work in the morning, so after 3 months of being careful, we will see what the A1Cs are like. I will post when I know what the results are.
Lets hope march gets off to a good start.
