2BHEalthy- my symptoms were very much like a cold that just never went away. i had a bad cough, stuffy nose/congestion and laryngitis for a few day. it all started with a sore throat tho.

Well, I have finally gotten my fbs at a good place. i usually take it around 6am before taking meds and never really gave it much thought. I started taking it around 8am AFTER taking m y first pill and it ranges between 99 & 119 now! i'm very pleased with that. my dr said anything below 130 woould be great. the nurse said below 100. so, as long as i'm between 99 -129, i'm satisfied!

Default hello from bc

even tho I am a few hours away from the olympics, every one here is very excited about them. The director of this place (sunpeaks) is Nancy Greene, former olympian, and one of the lighters of the flame, ( I had guessed she would be lighting it..) so the staff is very on top of things, and there are lots of olympic style events happening here this week.
I skied 5 hours today and am sore, had a nice hot tub and hubby and I did massages for each other. I might have a professional massage tomorrow if this keeps up. All the exercise I have been doing is helpful, but the snow was really heavy and sticky so what should have been a 3 hour ski got a LOT longer and harder. I was worried I would have to get help to get back I got so tired.
Fortunately, I ate a good and hearty breakfast today eggs and toast with peanut butter, so I had a good start, but had to make myself eat some lunch before hot tub and nap, I was just not hungry I was so tired. Just had some cheese and veggies tho, but a good supper with lots of veggies.
It is hardest to get the veggie servings in, but I am working at it.
I am determined not to gain weight here, and maybe even lose a bit.
Off to bed early, I am enjoying reading everyone's posts. thanks

Oatmeal really DOES make me hungry.

I've always had a problem with oatmeal. It's supposed to be so great for you but even combined with a 4 eggwhite (+1yolk) omelete I am ravenous within an hour.

fasting 86, 1 hr 82. 2 hr 87 (which is weird on its own...I am having really low numbers yesterday and today. Makes me almost fear the meter is off but I dont have testing solution - my diet has been top notch though)

In contrast my healthy salad with lots of protein lunch yesterday took me from 94 to 151 in an hour. But I was full for hours.

Anytime my sugar drops below 100 I am ravenous.

I think I'm back on track. I was down a pound this morning and BGL has been right - ho highs or lows. I'm very well stocked with fruits and veggies - now to eat them.

How is everything going, folks?

ennay, I am curious about what type of oatmeal you have? I find instant or quick cooked oatmeal really doesn't do it, I have to have the steel cut and cook it in milk or soymilk. Since it takes a long time to cook (over 45 minutes) I make a larger batch and divide into servings. I eat with a bit of fruit, add cinnamon maybe more milk, and my vitamins with it. I find I am good for 3-4 hours and have a little fruit snack then.
But I guess we all metabolize a little different. Sugars and good here, am a little worried I am overeating, but am very hungry after hours of skiing.
No scale, which is driving me crazy.
Good stuff ruth, glad you are moving on down.....

Default Moab Bound

Happy Friday, everyone.

It started snowing yesterday. Today is chilly and cloudy. My sister and I will be leaving later this afternoon for Moab, Utah. She goes almost every year, but this will be my first trip. The weather is expected to be cold with possible snow and/or rain. I've been keeping an eye on the road conditions since there are some key mountain passes on the way. The plan is to spend the weekend hiking. Moab is about 7 hours away so our check-in time for tonight will be around midnight. Since I am the more experienced driver (older by 1 year ), I get to drive to Moab and back. My sister will drive us around in Moab. I also get the feeling that I will be the pack mule and get to lug around most of the gear. But what are big brothers for, right? I did the grocery shopping yesterday and am packing the last of my stuff right now.

Have a great weekend, all.

Had a good week; stayed on plan pretty well. I am trying to be sure to eat enuff to ward off cravings, and succeeded at that. We have been having more ***** all week long; it looks very pretty.

RUTH ~ good for you getting back on track, and losing a pound too.

MR. Z ~ hope you and your sister have a great trip; sounds like fun.

TIMOBA ~ yes, that flu does indeed seem like a cold that doesn't want to go away. As the day would go on, I would feel better. I think it is pretty well gone now; now I am dealing with my lactose allergies. The next time I buy some milk, I am going to try some lactose free milk to see if that helps; invariably as soon as I have milk in my cereal, I get all stuffed up ...

I like to have oatmeal (I use large whole flakes) mixed with natural cream of wheat plus some flax meal. I have to make sure to have a big enuff serving or I get hungry; I find 1 cup cooked of this mix is filling for me. I make up three servings at once, and keep the rest in the fridge or freezer and just heat it up in the microwave in the morning -- very handy.

Have a wonderful weekend folks ... Rosebud

Default a little non-scale victory

Last year, before my parents got ill, I was visiting 3fc regularly, and eating well, exercising some....lost some weight, and got below 173, (my weight when I had my 2nd baby, my highest weight ever, and I was so embarrassed and upset to go above that not being pregnant...) and I bought myself some sexy jeans to celebrate.
Don't ask me why I packed them for my ski trip, but today, on a whim and looking in the mirror and looking like there was more tone, I tried them on, and....I didn't even have to suck in my gut to zip them up. I wore them for the morning before skiing, walked around the village with a big grin.
To boot, fasting sugars have been below 6 all week.

DH and I decided to take the morning off and enjoy some leisure, but I had a big ski in the afternoon, which was great because the sun came out at lunch time so it was really nicer to ski in the afternoon.
TOmorrow is anniversary day, have booked massages for us before supper and after skiing, so am really looking forward to the day.
I think I over did supper tonight, but was a bit low on calories before that, so will be watching for the rest of the weekend. Monday is a travel day, so will have a day of rest then.
I hope mr z has a great time in Utah. I am sure enjoying this trip and all the fitness that goes with it. good thing I was working on fitness before this tho.
have a great weekend everyone.

woke up with a very sore foot. Decided not to ski today as that foot is taking the brunt of the stress with going downhill. Went to the fitness centre instead and did yoga and stationary bike. Want to be in shape for a final big ski tomorrow and resting the foot seemed like the best way to be able to do that.
Injury has plagued my fitness efforts in the past, so am determined not to go there. Got on the scale here, I know its not mine, but I was below 180 anyhow, and it was encouraging. see if that plays out at home when I can weigh again on Tuesday.

Sorry I've been MIA. I have a very sore back for some reason. I suspect I need a new desk and sewing table chair. I'm eating properly though. Just taking it easy with a heating pad and some great books. The dogs don't know what's happened but they are getting extra cuddles.
Down another pound. I may make it to the 180's by March 17 when we go to FL. What the heck do you eat at The Magic Kingdom?

ruth, hope the back feels better soon. Did you pull something? or were you sitting and sewing a lot and think you don't have a good setup for the body mechanics involved?
Did my last ski today, very long, 3.5 hours and was exhausted when I got home. The foot hurt some, so I will not stress it when I get home. It only hurts with unusual strain like herringbone up hill and snowplow down hill, so will avoid skiing until march. packing up for the trip home tomorrow

Well I feel like I have been away forever =) But I fell off the wagon and was being dragged under the wheels until today. Why is it that I need to be accountable to someone for my own health and weight loss? But I know I need to be so I think I am going to get a Wharton Medical Clinic. From what I have been told about the clinic it is truly what I need .. so now to tackle my doctor and get her to refer me to it =) That should be a task in and of its self.

Good morning. The back is still grieving me a bit but I did go to the gym and do a limited work-out. It's definitely the computer chair that causes the problem so I'm trying it with a cushion behind my back.

Right now I am going to make a chop-chop salad to get some more veggies into me today. It's fairly tasty and can also be thrown into a stir-fry. Here's the link.

Moab was so much fun. The weather was cloudy with snow and limited visibility. The temperatures were below freezing with occasional gusts. Didn't need my shades since the sun never managed to poke through the cloud cover. The hiking was awesome. So quiet and peaceful. We had the trails almost completely to ourselves since very few people braved the elements. We met a family who were on x-country skis. Made me wish that we had planned a little better and brought snow shoes. It's good to be back. It snowed last night and today the sun is out.
