You're not really alone, Marble. There are sloths lurking here (including me) who are impressed with your tenacity, and Cathy's as well. No excuses, but the humidity is back, and the idea of exercise is not appealing. Don't quit! I'm so in awe that I think I may need to go lie down on the couch for a while!

marbleflys 08-12-2005 03:19 PM

sure, go lay down on the couch while I'm slaving over a hot computer terminal, trying to please 240 individual student schedules and decide who wins the big prize this year ( a trip to a special conference we sponsor all expenses)

Here is my big exercise *fantasy*...I step on the scale and am shocked to see how low the number is...I shake my head in amazement and step on the scale again, the number REMAINS low, it's not an error......I run to the mirror and see {{{GASP}}} my CHEEKBONES! I stand sideways.... and view....A FLAT ABDOMEN..... I RUN to the closet and dig for my size 6 jeans....and pull them on easily and zip them up..... :faint:

then I go out and buy the winning lottery ticket! :strong: :faint:

carla49 08-12-2005 03:35 PM

If you're still looking for a student repellant, why not give up deodorant and showers and wear your workout clothes to work? Ha-ha.

I will be working again one of these days, and I do work hard. No computer (so I can't spend my day posting on my employer's dime - ) but I do have a microphone and a stuffy little booth to work in. Also colleagues, some of whom have taken the advice above...

cathyxxx 08-13-2005 06:05 PM

I cleaned for over 5 hours today :faint:

Okay, can I join in???

30 minutes on the exercycle. Counts double since I really didn't want to do it. Situps = 25. After the situps, I thought I deserved a cookie since I made it to 25. :)

Marie 09-03-2005 08:53 AM

Last night I did 30 minutes on the Gazelle and had a great workout. Today is hiking with the puppies - I love weekends so that I can go to my favorite mountain trail.

What's everybody doing to move their bodies?

cathyxxx 09-05-2005 11:08 AM

Well my exercise in August was the pits, but thankfully it is a new month and I will do what I can. Things are kind of crazy down here. :dizzy:

Anyway - I cleaned house on Saturday with my pedometer on and walked over 2 miles. This morning I did 30 minute Power Walk tapes with hand weights. So I'm up to 4 miles this month haha I'm on a roll.

September = 4 miles

hugs & prayers,
Cathy

CIN 09-05-2005 08:30 PM

I love Fall!

Marie 09-06-2005 05:37 AM

Went for a hike yesterday and did quite good. Used the abuterol before ascending the mountain path and was able to breath the entire way. My legs were tired, but that was good. Then I did 27 situps last night. 28 was the goal, but I just couldn't do the last one. :)

Just got in the door from a 2.2 mile walk.my pedometer said 1.93.so I hopped in the car and it was 2.2.! Since my goal for the week is 2 miles I KNEW I had walked 2 miles and couldnt stand being UNDER that!

As a maintaining Lifetime member of Weight Watchers.I promise you the walking is my "salvation".........if I dont walk the weight slowly creeps back up on me.

My surgery was 11 weeks ago today...............it sure took me a while to get to 2 miles but I will increase it in a couple weeks! It was hard to start all over again but I did it! I knew I had to.! :D

Exercise is sooooooooooooooooooooooo important.please believe me..important when losing and important to maintaining! ;) ;)

Pat yourself on the back everytime you do any kind of exercise and it will become a part of who you are!!!!!!! Go gals!

marbleflys 09-08-2005 04:50 PM

I'm out of sync. with my formal routine right now, my left arm is severely allergic to poison ivy, so I'm grumpy about everything...but I've been staining wood and spending money on the house renovations and hyperventilating when I think about the $$$.

I'm also working on my flexibility and would LOVE to try Yoga, but I am a bit of a clutz, I'd be mortified in a class....but it is one of my future goals...I'm a big fan of "Exhale" show.

I did have a Pilates reformer at one time but sold it (I'm still kicking myself) because it was too big and didn't quite fit the decor (yes, Carla, the cats slept on it too). Pilates was a great thing to do in the evening as I stretched my back and shoulders. I did find a feasible alternative (supreme pilates trap-set-up) and I folds flat...for the price, it is nicely constructed. I hope to try some postures tonight, I thought it would surely help with my sleep/relaxation (so Marie don't call me at 3AM!)

Be back tomorrow to see if I have good results.

CIN 09-09-2005 10:11 AM

Marie 09-14-2005 11:06 PM

Rode the exercycle for 30 minutes again - this time with normal resistance. I think it should count as 60 minutes because I really didn't want to do it.

lateralus98 09-14-2005 11:16 PM

marbleflys 09-15-2005 11:01 AM

I did Gunner Peterson's exercise ball workout...I actually forgot the name, but it has Brooke Burke in it. It was 20-something minutes.

On Thursday (in gym): 48 curlups in one minute. It's not much, but I was proud! That's four more than last year!
