Wink Welcome to 3FC!

I don't know if anyone on this forum is counting calories, but if you look further down the page under "General Diet Plans" there's a thread called "Doin' it the Old Fashioned Way". I believe that you'll find some good support for calorie counting there.

Please come back and share some more about yourself

me me me! I count calories! I write down every little thing that I put in my mouth and count it! it keeps me honest! I mean really - no matter what kind of diet or food plan you are doing - it still all boils down to how many calories you are taking in.

I post my daily food intake on the Daily Food Log thread - I try to keep it around 1200 calories - I have a low thyroid and if I get any higher than 1400 a day - I gain weight - sad but true.

Let's see - any tips - welllllllllllllll I have a really neat little pocket calorie counter book that I picked up at Books A Million - it's very colorful and says "The Doctor's Pocket Calorie Fat & Carbohydrate Counter" and also has www.CalorieKing.com printed on it. I really like it - it's easy to use - colorful and even has the calorie count of a lot of fast food places - and some little quick info & tidbits on the pages. I think it cost about $5.00

I also drink at least 8 oz of water every day - and I keep up with that and my exercise on the food log.

If I have too many calories for breakfast and lunch (since 1200 doesn't go too far sometimes) then I will just have a big salad or steamed veggies for supper bec they are so low cal and good for you.

How many calories a day are you shooting for? and how ya doing so far?

We would love for you to join us on the Daily Food Log if you would like to post your food there!

take care,
Cathy

gosh myluv4 - it doesn't sound like you need any tips at all!
10 lbs already! wow!
YOU GO GIRL!

how many calories are you eating a day?

I mostly walk for exercise. I have a lot of Leslie Sansone's walking dvd's and I do them if I get up early enough in the mornings before work. If I miss that, then I have been going to a nearby church fitness room and do the treadmill or walk the walking track, and then do some of the machines if I have time.

I like the Gazelle - they are cool - no impact on your knees and stuff.

I hope you'll have time to join us on the daily food log and/or the daily thread!

Hi! I just started counting cals Feb 22. I agree with cathyxxx -- it does all boil down to calories consumed/burned, no matter what the diet. I haven't done really great so far, but I've done a lot better than I did before I started. I'm trying for about 1300-1400 calories a day.

I just started counting calories as well. I feel sooo starved. I'm figuring out small ways to stop that though. I eat 5-6 meals a day to even it all out. I keep sugarfree gum with me at all times.

Those of you who have the gazelle. I have been thinking of getting one. Do y'all like it? Is it boring??
Do y'all have any suggestions for keeping the hunger down?

Love,
Deanne

Try to figure out how to get more food from your calories, what ever they may be. I know you can eat a TON of veggies and feel full and still keep the calories in tune

Some low cal foods besides veggies are tuna, chicken, popcorn (lite), hard boiled egg (filling and 80 calories), yogurt w/wheat germ. If I eat a diet frozen dinner I usually grab a can (if not fresh) of green beans to bulk it up, low cal bread, garden salads, etc....

I used to live on the stuff above and lost a ton of weight doing so. Hmmmmmmmm maybe I should take my own advice

Hugs

LOL yea right 8 oz

I meant to say at least 64 oz - don't know where just 8 came from - guess maybe I was thinking about 8 oz at a time

how embarrassing - only 8 - I'm sure haha - I work really hard to make sure I get in my water and then only give myself credit for 8

thanks for paying attention to me cin and catching that! hugs!

hugs,
cathy
