"I don't know much about this, so pardon me sticking my nose in, but can the doctor give you meds for the low thyroid?"
Hey Joanne

you are not sticking your nose in girlie - talk away. I'm all ears!
Yes, I started taking 1 grain of Armour Thyroid in October, and just upped it to 2 grains a day. My low thyroid symptons seem a little better to me, but not the weightloss. I have joined a yahoo low thyroid group and they all seem to have the same problem, even when they get the meds right (either armour thyroid or synthroid) they still find it almost impossible to lose weight. It can be very discouraging.
I have also found that most people with a low thyroid stay on some type of prescription diet pill in order to keep their calorie intake low and to kind of speed up their heart rate and hopefully burn my calories in doing so. I think most people with a low thyroid find that everything runs slow on them, their heart rate is low, blood pressure is low, it's like everything is just barely moving - at least that is how it is for me. No wonder I always find myself gravatating towards diet pillls (even tho I have not taken any in almost a year thank you)
Sometimes I think I should have become an aerobics instructor and done that for a living rather than sitting at a desk. That way I would be doing exercise for several hours a day, and maybe that would help me get my metabolism moving and get some weight off. Did I say that it is very discouraging?
I was thinking last night, and this is sad to admit, but my weight is the first thing on my mind when I wake up in the mornings and the last thing on my mind before I close my eyes at night. I really hate being this size, this is the biggest I have ever been in my life. If I can't change this, then I have got to learn to be comfortable in my own skin, but how can I do that when it is so uncomfortable to bend over, tie shoes, paint toe nails, and move around???
