I was on zolof then switched to effexor and since on effexor have gained 25 pounds. I have been to WW and they kept telling me I was doing something wrong because I was gaining. But my doctor told me effexor is known to have weight gain for women. So he told me off for a while to see if I could lose the weight but then said the first sign of depression I was back on it.

Hi all
I have been on so many antidepressant and finally found one that I don't gain weight on and has less side effect than any I have taken. It is Wellbutrin SR. I still have to take Ambiem before I can sleep. I didn't start gaining weight until I started on antidepressants. I have gained over 100lbs since I have been on them. I have 130 lbs. to lose and I have lost 35.

Hi! I hope everyone is doing well!! I asked and was put on 25 mg Topomax a night, along with an increase in my Depakote dosage. Apparently, my blood work showed that I was under medicated.

This increase in Depakote was very disconcerting, because I have gained 9 lbs. in the last 4 weeks. Granted I haven't been a nutritional and physical angel, but 9 lbs.?!?!?!?! C'mon!

Anyway, I was assured that the Topomax would balance out the the increase in the Depakote. We'll see. I've taken it for a couple of days (I take them both at night) and I go to bed feeling very sick to my stomach. I remember feeling sick while taking Topomax initially (I took it it during the day), but oh my gosh.

Needless, to say my doctor and I will be discussing this, but I guess anything to keep me from eating.

I just can't believe I've gained 9 lbs. and the worst part about it is that it has been so easy to kill my motivation.

Can anyone identify with any of this?

Hi guys - I have been out of town for a week, but I wanted to get back to talk to you.

Flaminred - I asked my exercise physiologist about the tummy gain from the seroquel, and she told me the only way it would come off was from aerobic exercise. I have used my elliptical trainer for that, and am down from a 16 to a 12/14 - so she was right.

I get alot of my drug information off the internet. About.com has a great bipolar site - have any of you been there? I also tapped into a medical site for doctors. I get daily newsletters about recent studies.

I am starting a new program this week. I weigh 184.5 today, and am going on the Kashi program. cereal, shake, snack dinner. It comes in around 900-1000 calories (what my dietician recommended). We shall see if this works. If I could just battle off another 10 pounds it would be great. At 177 I am no longer at risk for diabetes. That would be a nice first step.
