Jasmine- An elliptical is like a cross between biking and walking, to me. Your body is standing but your legs are going in a bicycle type pattern. Very good for cardio and very good if you have touchy knees...no impact what so ever. Like getting the benifit of running without the impact. I love it.

Maybe my ellpitical breaking down was for the best. Joined a gym today. :woohoo: Very excited about it. Worked muscles my body forgot exsisted.

:welcome2: to all the newbies to the thread. Never too late to join, always too late to quit. Lets make this week count.

Jasmine - 28 miles impressive, I never thought about tracking miles. Although last year our office participated in a program where you walk across Texas. No, not really walking across Texas, but tracking our miles and adding them up to walk across Texas.

GetnHealthy - You are really liking the elliptical. It is my favorite too :spin:

I am so excited! I am getting a tredmill today!! My husband works for a Medical supply store (mainainence, delivery, sales, everything) and comes home with all of the stupid usless things people are getting rid of. (Well not all useless we are getting a 6 month old bed from the guest room of one his customers that has passed) But yesterday he was offered a tredmill, It works really well but the lady he is getting it from wants it out of her house he asked what she wanted for it and she said nothing! I am getting it for free! I guess it is ten years old but I cant wait, Now I have something to Add to my home "gym"!!! I guess the dining room table is outta here :)

I dont know if it is the working out or the losing weight, but my body is feeling better and exercises are easier. I just feel more in control of my body, physically. Less clumbsy, more aware of my surorundings...weird, but i like it, it feels good to not feel so physically sloppy.

Hello ladies I would like to join in here. My walking gets shoved aside in the summer months as I am so active with everything else. Burning calories with yard work ,hiking etc. But now I am ready to start up again so here I am.
Today I will begin my walking after work. I will log it on here later on. To get started I am going to do the 600 min. challenge. That will be a start in the right direction. Do we count doing walks into the office or just on one time deals like treadmill, walking outside etc. Just thought I would ask this is a great motivator I think.

dollypie 10-13-2006 10:55 AM

:welcome2: cacmsc - I'm only counting the minutes when I am actively exercising, but if you walk to work I would definetly count that.

Hey yall. Hope everyone is doing okay. I'm thinking that I will have to either change my challenge or drop out completely. It's already the middle of October and I've done no walking! I've been so busy with work and stressed about this computer.
