Outstanding, as usual, L&L's! I am so happy for your new numbers and being (or headed? to) a "healthy" weight or did you mean 7 pounds away? I was a little confused. I know you don't weigh 92. I know you are tickled pink either way. I think I spoke awhile back that your steady focus would overtake my meandering.

Are you still counting calories and will you make different choices heading into the mtnc phase? I know at one point you kept them at a certain range that was sustainable for you and has worked out nicely to move you to this point.. I need to find that sweet spot AND patience! You continue to be my and I hope you stick around to show us how it is done.

Have a great week everyone!

Hey KStrong! I had to re-read what I wrote after seeing your response. I should have said I have lost 92.6 and am just 7 pounds away basically from being 100 pounds down. At 100 pounds down (164) I would be at the top of the range for a healthy weight at my height. Thanks as always for being a great cheerleader-mentor to me. I have told my husband and daughter about you (that you weighed at least 280 pounds and have lost over 100 pounds). It's great to see someone else whose done and continues to do so. Yes I still count my calories and write everything down. It keeps the calorie count honest. I googled "calories needed to maintain weight" calculators. I plug in the weight, gender, age and sedentary. It tells you how much you need to maintain this weight and I eat that or a little less. When I first started it said I'd need 2200 to maintain so I had 2000. Now I plug in my initial goal of 164. It will say 1670 calories if sedentary. I know I am not TRULY sedentary so if I have that or a little less I will lose weight. If you were to plug in your goal (say 140) it will say you'd need 1500 a day if sedentary so maybe try that? You know you aren't sedentary since you actually exercise. Maybe you are still eating too few calories without realizing it. Check out those calculators!
I am cautiously optimistic that I might get to my initial goal weight in 2022! The trick is going to be maintaining it!

I have some catching up to do here.

Muffs, I am not really in maintenance. I wish! I meant that I am maintaining my current weight, not gaining or losing. I don't remember the name Tuscany. There were so many people on this forum back in the day.

L&Lsmom, At first glance I thought you weigh 92 lbs but then I figured out you are down to 92 lbs lost. Good job!

Kstrong, I hope you continue to use the stairs as long as you are able. I think if you stop you will lose the ability to do it. I cannot get out of my house without either the front steps or the cellar steps and its very hard. I hate to use the front steps because the neighbors can see me and I'm embarrassed at how poorly I do. I force myself up and down the cellar steps, then out thru the garage. We have talked about getting a stair lift but I am trying to exercise to improve my legs so I don't need it. As it is, I can go up the stairs but not carry anything. Some things I put in a plastic grocery bag and put it over my arm. Forget a basket of laundry. I set it up a few stairs up then move it up again when I get up to it. Mostly my husband carries it up. We never thought about old age when we bought this house. At 35 I ran up and down those stairs.

I love this thread. You girls are so inspiring.

Hi!

I have to laugh to myself thinking if I weighed 92 pounds at my height. I would be a skeleton with sagging skin, not a pretty sight.

KStrong I can understand you know you lost at least 100 and seeing it say LESS than that just isn't right. We don't need that kind of anxiety. Honestly I would have major trouble trying to eat only 1200 every day, this is why I think I won't go too far below 160.

Wannabehealthy Thank you! I agree, I love this thread too.

Thanks Carol! You could do the front steps and if the neighbors really are watching that closely, pause every so often and pretend to be looking at something.

L&L's Mom - I'm trying to stay around 1600.

Have a great week!

hello!

Nothing new to report, just checking in basically. I figured I should state that I do have swings in weight so that might help others out who could be reading our thread even if they don't actually post anything. I posted I was 171.4 and then after say 1500 calories the next day it was 170 even...yay! And then I had a much higher calorie day than normal (actually it was 2400 ). The next day it popped up a pound and a half! The next day was 1800 calories and it went back down a pound. The point is the numbers can bounce up and down quite a bit just because of the amount of fiber, sodium, carbs, etc...Yesterday I was up to 173 and today it was back to 171.8. I don't post every single .4 up and down scale variation because that would be truly boring but it's reality. It's not just lose, lose. lose easy peasy. If it were that easy everyone would be thin.

KStrong Knowing you've stayed under 190 for 4 years is inspiring! It's good you've kept away from the alcohol, as we all know it is just empty calories. We just have to decide what we want to spend our calorie budget on each day and if it's "worth" spending those calories or not. I feel like saying this to you is preaching to the choir, you know this better than I do.

Did you all know that the average woman in the United States is 5'4 and 170 pounds? That weight is overweight for a 5'4 woman but I found the stats interesting. Also the average waist is 37 inches. After two years since I started I am below average for the waist (35 right now vs 45 when I started). I am a hair away from the average weight too!! Unbelievable!

Thanks so much for sharing all of your wonderful insights L&L's Mom! I have so many things I want to comment on and am shaking my head in YOU GO GIRL agreement. YOU ROCK SISTER!!! I will come back and add more next week but 37 inches is average? That made me feel so much better. I know 35 is that line of better health.

Have a great long weekend everyone!
p.s. Happy New Month!

KStrong I like to look things up when it pops in my head..."I wonder what the average height and weight is for women in the US?" so I google it and get amazed! LOL Then it was average waist size etc...It helped me at first to work to get to the average and now to be below it. I forgot about the waist recommendation to be at or below 35 for heart health, so I feel good about reaching that!. For me I have always been an apple shape so my waist will be my challenge. Even if I was even 150 it would be big. My waist has gone down 10 inches and my hips 12. I wish it were the other way around but we don't get to pick I guess.

Good job on getting your on plan items and not a lot of junk! I think that being in maintenance mode is good. Basically even if we "just maintained" our weight we'd be happier than gaining slowly over time. I figure if my calories stay at 1800 I will maintain so I try to have that or less. We have to keep doing this to keep it off, that is going to be the true challenge!

I was surprised to get on this site today with no issues? I hope I didn't jinx it by saying that!

Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm still having horrible site issues. I could go take my shower waiting for it to load.

At my best weight, 135, my waist was 27. My waist has always been my issue. After all the abdominal surgery I've had I think its in the mid 40s now. Yikes!

My weight is still bouncing in the mid 180s. I'm about ready to do a long fast, just to get the scale moving in the right direction, but I know as soon as I eat the water weight will come right back.

I am also very inquisitive. Anytime I'm watching tv I have my tablet and I'm looking things up. Even DH asks me to look things up. I have so many items that have Alexa that they started answering when I wasn't even talking to them and it got annoying, so I shut them off. I guess I should leave one turned on.

Carol - I too had ab surgery (C-section) and my stomach was never the same.
My Home thingy sits by the bedroom TV and occasionally thinks it is asking him something. I believe I even did the voice recognition thing which helps but it still conversates with the TV occasionally. Freaky but I can't bring myself to quit using it.

That's funny about your Home thing conversing with the tv!

My surgery was due to bowel issues so they cut through my ab muscle from top to bottoms, and they did it twice. So no more muscle to hold things in, and little bulges here and there. I'm curious to see what it looks like after I lose my fat, if I lose it. No, I mean WHEN. I AM going to lose it.
