April Weight Loss Challenge
This is a stressful time. Let's be creative about how we set our goals this month. If setting a numerical weight loss goal will help you, go for it. If not, here are some other ideas:
|
Since I just slipped into Onederland, my goal is to stay below 200.
My scale is in kgs, so I'm looking for numbers that are 90.7 are lower. |
Hello gardnerjoy -
I would like to join the April weight loss challenge. My starting weight is 299.4 pounds and my goal is 11 pounds. |
Thanks for starting up April's thread gardenerjoy.
I managed to lose a little bit in March instead of gaining. I'd like to continue that momentum and build on it. As an introvert who likes spending a lot of time with just me and my husband, I'm not having a hard time with the quarantine, but /hugs to those who are struggling. Hello everyone.
I can use the focus on weightloss right now. I need to be accountable. I will check in tomorrow with my stats and my plan for the month. Gardenerjoy thank you for setting this up  |

Getting out of the diet trap
I have began my weight-loss plan a few weeks back, it pays to remember this: You are not fat. You have fat. Losing weight isn't about blame or shame; it's simply another achievement to accomplish.
Self discipline and persistence to push through indeed plays a big role. :carrot:  |

Hey everyone. Well March was a bit of a bummer wasn't it? :( I'm lucky, my boyfriend has a job and we're pretty much homebodies already so quarantine hasn't affected us too dramatically. It's still crazy everything that's happening, I know a few people who have lost their jobs.
Personally, March was a bit of a blur. I think I was struggling to get adjusted to my meds after switching to taking them at night which was keeping me awake. I had an awful sleep schedule and felt like I never got a good nights sleep. I slowly made the switch to taking them in the morning, and things are looking up. I've been working out every other day with my bf after our gyms closed a few weeks ago. Having him workout with me this consistently has been amazing! I've done 7 Insanity Max 30 workouts so far, just working my way through the calendar and feeling good about it. In the last 3 days I've made it a point to go on a 30 minute walk, I realize that I'm just too stationary with the job I have so I hope that getting out and stretching my legs helps with my weight loss/mentality. I'm close to feeling ready to start IF again, I've been more conscious of my late night snacking. I'm definitely coming down from a slight sugar addiction since I got into the habit of eating chocolate/drinking a root beer once a day. Now that both have run out I've felt it the most after dinner, like my body is waiting for that sweet treat, so I'm doing my best to ignore it to mild success. Anyway, I'm here to start weighing in and reporting it! I'm not going to set a goal for myself, I just want to ride this wave of exercising and not put any pressure on myself.

My bf forgot he needed to marinade chicken for dinner and by the time he realized it was too late to defrost anything, so we decided to order some food from a local restaurant. We ended up getting a piece of fried chicken with some sides, so that probably explains the gain! It was delicious though and I'm happy to support local businesses during this time. Today I'm going to do an Insanity, I'm proud that I'm doing them on my own now instead of waiting for my bf. In the past if he couldn't do it then I would've written it off too, but I'm actually liking the day on, day off schedule. It works for me! Hope everyone is hanging in there! |
Hello everyone; today is Friday weigh-in day.
I received an instant pot for Christmas and last Saturday I made beef stew. It was delicious but I used one of those packages of beef stew seasoning. Well it must have been loaded with sodium or something. I didn't overeat last weekend - much - but by Monday morning my weigh went up 5 lb to 305 from 298.8. So all week long I have been battling to try to get it back down to 298 again. This morning (Friday) I am at 300.8. I will do better this weekend I am going to make a pot of lima beans. I hope everyone has a nice weekend. April Weight Loss Challenge Goal: 11 lb Date Weight Loss lb ----------------------- 03/31 299.4 START 04/03 298.8 -0.6 lb 04/10 300.8 +1.4 lb 04/17 04/24 04/30 |

I worked out yesterday and did my daily walk. I think the increase this morning is because I had a slice of bread with PB on at around 10pm since I didn't have dinner. I'm starting to get back into Twitch streaming and keeping a schedule is important, so by the time I started streaming dinner wasn't ready. Glad I didn't have a curry at 10pm so the PB was to tide me over! Feeling good that these little increases aren't bothering me like they would have before! OH! Also, a pair of shorts felt a bit snug at the beginning of the month, but I wore them yesterday and they felt fine so I'm happy :) It's my birthday weekend, with my actual birthday being on Monday, so not sure how often I'll post! If I don't stop by, have a good and safe weekend. darius - Yeah, I think a lot of season packets have a tonne of salt in. I was shocked when I discovered how much sodium is in a can of soup! It's a common thought that a can of soup is somewhat healthy, but oh how the nutritional label tells the truth  Keep drinking water and you'll shake the weight in no time! |
Thank you Riestrella for the words of encouragement. Oh yes I like the feeling of pants getting looser. I recently bought a smaller pair of pants for work.

I’m trying to find a silver lining to the Covid shelter in place situation. I have not been short of food. However, because shopping is more of a pain, and delivery is also a pain, I’m much more conscious of what I eat, and am more consciously thankful of the fact that I have basic nutritious food available, if not all the usual luxuries. The silver lining is that the weight is coming off pretty reliably. The evening I celebrated my birthday with a karaoke session with friends (we've been self isolating in the same building for 3 weeks) and had a LOT to drink + 1.5 servings of BBQ. I had an amazing time and got very drunk  Unfortunately I had a bit of a bubbly stomach earlier in the night so I had to take a couple rounds of pepto, which always throws my poop schedule off for a few days :dizzy: Yesterday I was recovering, I think I drank about 5 bottles of water! I ate quite a bit too, toast, leftover BBQ and then Katsudon at around 8pm. This morning I weighed in at 197.2 lbs, had to step on the scale a few times to make sure it was right, but sure enough! Not gonna beat myself up, it's all of the above and I had a great time so no regrets. Today is my actual birthday, so I'm going to be naughty for one more day (burger and cake) but I'm going to also stick to my workout routine and do an Insanity and walk. The pepto seems to finally be passing through my system so I'm hoping that'll cause a drop too. The 197.2 lbs will probably throw off my average for the week but oh well, it's my birthday weekend! darius - It's always nice having to buy smaller clothes, well done! Slimmer me - Congrats on the loss this month! It's been a good time to focus on weight loss despite the situation. JenyRedy - That sounds wonderful and well done on losing weight! |

We did go on the 30 minute walk so better than nothing! I also told him that I'm not gonna wait for him to workout in future, because I actually feel a momentum and want to keep up my routine. Usually by the evening I get so sluggish anyway. He understood and is gonna try and make time for when I'm ready. Despite the lack of working out, the huge burger and fries and cake I managed to weigh in 1.4 lbs lighter today! Yay :) |

I was trying to avoid eating too much bread but that's practically all we have other than trail mix and there's only so much trail mix a gal can take  I had a bad nights sleep the night before so yesterday was unproductive. I didn't make it on my walk :(. I did do an Insanity though, so that's good! Bf was saying how much better my form seems, I definitely feel like I'm getting stronger. Today I woke up feeling super drained and sniffly, luckily an allergy pill has helped, so I'm just gonna do my best. Gonna try and get out on that walk! Hoping to get an Insanity done today regardless, will take it easier than usual and roll out after which will suuuck. I might have to drive around and look for some. Hello everyone; today is Friday weigh-in day.
Had a big woosh yesteday and today. Finally got rid of some of this excess water. I have been waiting for this woosh for a week and a half. Have been eating on plan all week. I am not eating any bread or refined carbohydrates; trying to control my TyII diabetes. Congratulations Riestrella for your progress. Congrats JennyRedy and Slimmer Me you all are making progress! I really hate these big sodium retention events that seem to last an entire week for me. What happened to me 2 weekends ago - made a nice beef stew on Saturday;morning weight was under 299. It definitely makes you rethink eating sodium, doesn't it? I definitely am more conscious of what I'm eating knowing the number on the scale will be affected. However, sodium retention shouldn't be a reflection of your hard work! Maybe try measuring yourself too since measurements tend to be more forgiving and show results first :) |

Hey Riestrella, JenyReddy and SlimmerMe - you all have made terrific progress! I hope to have some good numbers to post this coming Friday - my weight really fluctuates; i retain water like some farm animal.
But I am eating on plan and the numbers do keep going down. I am a type II diabetic right? and last night I had a scare. I checked my blood sugar last night around 8 pm and it was 77 so I thought well OK I will ok until morning. And then during the 9PM Compline service on my church's Facebook Live, right aroudn 9:15 i started feeling really nauseous and I checked my blood sugar and it was 61. I hurried up and had some cereal and milk. the only carbohydrates i have in the house except some raw potatoes and rice crackers. I need to buy me some Capn Crunch cereal or something at the grocery store so I will have some emergency sugar if this happens again. I don't know why it would suddenly drop like that at night, and I was not under stress. You all have a good week! |

I was worried that I was gaining, so this is good. But that also means that with just a little more effort, tightening up some habits that I've let get a little loose, might result in some more loss. I'm going to attempt to re-establish a daily weighing habit. I think I'm in a good mental space to see it as simply data that helps me make good decisions.

I always thought that exercise is what helped me lose weight, but looking back to when I lost weight before I was also being careful about what I ate. I think I'm giving myself excuses about why I can eat indulgently, "I worked out today! I deserve a treat." Seems like an obvious lesson but these weight loss journey's are all different aren't they? Even though I'm super proud of how on top of it I've been with exercise, I need to start focusing harder on what I shove in my mouth. I don't want to create a huge restrictive plan, but knowing that I need to be aware of it is a good first step. |
Riestrella: Good thinking! I'm still working through this, too, but I think the best thing I get from exercise is a mood-boost, not calorie burn. A better mood helps me be more willing to figure out what it's going to take with food consumption to get the results I want.
