That's 3 days in a row under 180, so that makes me happy, even though I haven't seen a new low yet.
  • I'm finally in the 180's! Good Luck, Everyone!

  • Well the good news is that my stomach issues seem to be gone and my appetite has returned. The bad news is that my appetite has returned . Had a bad couple of days in the food department, just ended up eating a LOT when coming home from work. Adding bread to meals, pickles, I even had a soda which is stupid considering it's usually a trigger for stomach problems. Couldn't help myself . My initial drop to 188 lbs seems like a distant memory since I'm now creeping back up into the 190's. Tomorrow I'm going to make an effort to workout! Looking forward to the temperatures/humidity dropping so I can start jogging again!

I spoke to my boss on Wednesday about my work hours, I apologised for being sick a lot recently and asked if I could change my schedule to 6 hour days, 5 days a week (I can work a max of 30 hours there). I explained that with whatever stomach issues I've been having, it seems to affect me in the morning, so if I could have some flexibility of when to start my shift it would be super helpful. He was completely understanding and very kind about it all, we get along well as people so I was thankful that he was more than happy to make those changes. It was a huge stress relief to know that if I have a tough morning, that I can simply wait it out and start work at 12pm instead of pushing myself too hard to start the day early.

In other news my cat Vivi is getting along nicely with our kitten, Haku! We're very pleased, but it's added a new dynamic to the house! They're super playful and we have to be more on it, but so far Vivi is doing a great job keeping him preoccupied!

Lacerta - Thank you so much for such a detailed response. I think I do have some form of undiagnosed IBS, my mother has problems too. She called it "gut rot", she would have to occupy the bathroom for long stretches of time after certain foods/drink combos. I have the same issues, sometimes I'll drink a soda and suddenly need to be on the toilet for about 30 minutes. I think you're right about the iron deficiency, I think it might be worth planning meals that are high in iron around when my period is about to hit to try and combat it. Well done on getting in the 170's!! That's so awesome after such a stressful start to your month!!

sgregg - Sorry to hear you've had a stressful time at work, I'm the same way with turning to food for comfort. Good luck with the events this weekend!!
  • VickieLou: Way to go - when did you last see the 180s? You're kicking butt right now.

Had Texas Roadhouse last night, so I'm sure this is a bit of "too many rolls".
  • Lacerta, yay for staying in the 170s...I'm sure the inflammation or water weight or whatever from those rolls will be off in no time. You've been doing so well!
Riestrella, you are so lucky to be able to have some flexibility with your schedule at work. I'm glad your boss is willing to work with you for the betterment of your health.
Vickie, congrats for getting into the 180s! My day is coming hopefully sooner than later.

The baby shower was a success for the most part. I did eat a couple of things off plan, but I did NOT sabotage my diet. I was up on the scale this morning, but I know it's because I ate a late meal because my stomach was feeling weird and I thought maybe it was because I didn't have an actual "meal" all day, but just snacky things. I saw 194 on the scale Saturday morning! That's my newest low. I feel like I'll see it again this week. I went clothes shopping today. I found a couple of tops and one pair of pants that I can wear to work. Going shopping for clothes is so much easier and more exciting now than it's ever been. I just hate that I'm having to buy them though. Haha! My dressier tops (for work) are just too frumpy now that I'm losing more weight. I'm almost to the 40lb mark!!!!

Good morning! I feel so much better this morning compared to how I felt last Monday. My cold/sinus stuff is almost cleared up, thank goodness! It was a rough, rough week. I am going to try my best to see 194 or below this week. I made some keto brownies last night, and that's what I ate for breakfast this morning. They were actually pretty good if you like dark chocolate because they are not as sweet as your normal sugared-up brownies. They are only 3g carbs each! Lunch today will be some leftover stuffed chicken and cheesy steamed broccoli. Dinner...I have no idea at the moment. Ha!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Not a lot of progress for me this month, but with everything I've had going on, I'm content to maintain right now.
  • Hey, hey! Been out for a couple of days. I just get so busy during the week that I forget to post! I have a few minutes this morning...
My weight just keeps fluctuating mainly because I am not 100% on plan every single moment of every single day. I am thinking of only weighing in weekly instead of daily. I have tried this in the past, and not seeing my weight first thing in the morning seemed to make me lose focus. So, I think I'm going to try it starting today. I weighed this morning and was 195.2. I will be weighing again on Friday for my Biggest Loser challenge on Facebook, but I believe I'm going to just wait until the next Friday before I weigh again. I will still come here and use this thread/forum as a daily check in to help hold myself accountable. Being able to communicate with someone about it really does make a difference.

    Meal Plan for today:
B: coffee (I know...not a "real" breakfast, but I don't feel like eating this early in the morning.)
L: turkey, almonds, & cheese; keto brownie
D: took out chicken breasts to thaw...we shall see what we do with them...

So...here's my story: my birthday was August 14th, and my friend's birthday was August 15th, so much ice cream was eaten, many mimosas were imbibed, and a good time was had by all. Except for my scale. I don't feel too terrible about it -- even though I am heavier than when I started this month -- simply because it was a special occasion and I got back on the horse more or less immediately. More prudence next occasion, but also...life is to be lived, right?

I just started pet-sitting for a friend of mine, so adding some dog walks should help me trim down and get into an exercising habit. Here's to better news next week!

sgregg - Thank you so much! I'm hoping that's my excuse for this week, haha. I agree that communicating about my weight seems to help. Even though I'm a weekly poster, I probably would have let that 'birthday weight' slide a little too long, or let myself fall into old habits, if I didn't have at least some external accountability for my goals.

Lacerta - Thanks for the encouragement! I'm afraid the waist is mostly genetics. All the women in my family are overweight, and we all carry the most weight in our bums and upper arms. Good to know that some of the health risks are supposedly mitigated, though. I have to say your SW and CW are extra inspiring for me -- it CAN be done! Also, congrats for maintaining during a stressful period.
  • i'm back from the ski holiday and had a great time. The snow was pretty good and we could do some off-piste stuff in places. Needless to say I ate and drank far too many calories than offset the effort, but that's ok. Did an overnight trek with backpack straight afterwards, then back to work for the last 5 days. I haven't stepped on the scales yet and suspect i'll be up. I'm not quite as disciplined as I've been now i'm back, but still eating heaps of veggies and being pretty healthy.

So now I've just got one week left before I head off on the Italy trekking holiday for 3x weeks. Soooooooooooooo looking forward to it! Guess the food thing will be what it is, as there are only remote mountain huts where we're going and likely to be just pasta/carb loaded basics up there (everything gets helicoptered in, so nothing fancy) but I do get hungry when i'm out all day. Then we have a few days in 'normal' places afterwards where i'm sure we'll be eating/drinking lots, so basically i'm prepared to put on a few kilo's over the next month or so, and the challenge will be to knuckle down again afterwards (which will be tricky as I've got an overseas work trip for two weeks immediately after the holiday too...…..). Ok, maybe mid-October before I can settle in to good habits again....

Good to read everyone's still sounding committed to their plans. Top work!
  • Good morning.

    Ange, your trips sound AMAZING!
Jolie, birthday months are always the hardest for me. My DH's birthday is the end of July and mine is Aug. 12. Great job at getting right back on plan and staying focused!

Potluck at work today. I'm bringing fruit...grapes, strawberries, and oranges. I'll eat the strawberries, but the other fruit has too much sugar. Anyway, I figured those at work would like the fruit since most people will bring dishes of something.
I'm traveling to an away football game this evening...it's about 2.5 hours away from where I live, so I'll be eating out. Maybe I can find something on plan. I was hoping to be get below 194 by today, but it just did not happen this week. Maybe next week will be better.

Hope you all have a great day!
  • Thanks Lacerta and Sgregg! I like to shop at thrift shops and rummage sales it helps save on shopping for clothes. Good Luck, Everyone!

  • jolie: Thanks, maintaining is about all I'm doing right now

sgregg: I find fruit or a veggie tray to be a great addition to a potluck. Many people wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there, but will take the option if presented with it.

    Total Loss for Week Four:

I'm all over the place this month. Too much snacking and portion sizes that are too large. I partly blame the fact that it has been too inconvenient to trim the fat off my chicken to grill it due to the wrist splint, so I've been eating less protein and overeating everything else. My new goal for the month is just to make sure I end the month down something.
