I am down another pound this morning. I am going to really try to meet my Valentine's Day goal. I'm getting psyched.

TooManyDimples, you are having great losses!!

Mara, that's great that you have a program like that at work. We had things like that when I worked, too. It's possible that their scale weighs you more because you're getting weighed later in the day and fully clothes. I was much higher at the doctor's today.

No weigh-in today. I feel "fat" so I won't get on the scale. I'm chicken. Maybe tomorrow. ha ha

Carol: That's one of the reasons I don't compliment anyone on weight loss unless they bring it up first. It's just too common that it's due to a health issue, and that can be unpleasant for people to have mentioned.
I hate days when I feel fatter. Although sometimes I'm still down in weight. I clearly am not good at intuiting my weight loss.

kfunk: My loss patterns, as you know, are also very strange and definitely not linear. But you're totally right - even though it's hard to have patience, what's the alternative? Our bodies will lose weight how they want to. We're just along for the ride!

TooManyDimples: Thanks! It is a much better week this week. I'm a bit envious that your jagged weight loss is unusual for you. Mine is really sawtooth! You're so close to the 250s! Very exciting!

Mara: What a neat work program! I've heard of stuff like that before and think it's a great idea! I don't have the numbers for it, but I wonder how successful they usually are. Seems like the group support would help.

Chanticleer, if I don't know someone well enough to know if they are dieting or not, I usually just say "You look so nice today" or "in that dress," whatever is appropriate. That way they get the compliment, know that I noticed, but then it's their cue to tell me they're dieting if they choose. I'm looking forward to losing enough that someone notices.

Hey all!

Popping in to say hi! Just updated my weight loss log and am so excited to share that after many weeks of maintaining and trying to lose, I have finally hit my lowest weight ever in this journey, including when I was doing Medifast. I'm over the moon with happiness that what I did this week actually paid off. I was very focused on no extra sugar, no sweets including (frozen Hershey's kisses LOL,) no alcohol and staying under 1300 calories. I also made sure that no matter what the weather I found a way to take a 30 minute walk everyday.

Hope everyone has a safe, happy, and healthy weekend!

Congratulations to you Laura for reaching a new level! It sounds like you are staying firmly on plan. That's what it takes.

I went to the casino yesterday and we ate the buffet. Nuff said. LOL I feel that everything I ate was healthy food, no sweets, but when it comes to "all you can eat" they underestimate me. I was not stuffed, but I ate a lot more than I would have had I been at home. So no scale for me today. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day so I will try to eat lightly today.

Weigh-in day for me. After 2 off plan days in a row I came in at 200.5, so I am happy overall. It was a birthday celebration yesterday and I had 4 brownies, but then we went out to eat for dinner and I had the salad bar so that saved me a bit. I consider this week to be a success and hope for many more like this. Looks like I might make January goal if I try really hard. Stay on plan and drink plenty of water.

It's been a good week for me, and I'm now just about 5 lbs overweight according to a BMI scale. That's exciting since it feels like it's been a really long time since I've been at a clinically healthy weight. I'm actually still more overweight than that because of body fat percentages (and will still be overweight even when I'm 'normal' BMI), but I'm working on that goal, too.

Hope everyone's January is going well!

Laura: Wow! Congrats! Reaching a new low weight is so exciting!

Carol: You're pretty darn close to your goal this month! I kind of like your idea of having monthly goals as well as a year goal. I sort of have that, but loosely. I might add them to my weigh-in post here.

maggie It must feel amazing being so close to getting out of the overweight category!! you are doing great!! In about 20 more lbs. or so I am going to shift the focus on reducing my body fat percentage. I am not sure how low I want to aim for, but I am very flabby right now!

carol Congrats on an amazing week!! Its nice to have that balance of going out and enjoying yourself and bday celebrations! I took yesterday off and indulged, but based of your post, you did a much better job of staying in control than I did! I am throwing around the option of a free day or free meal per week, I haven't decided which yet. I will wait to see how yesterday effected me as the week goes on.

laura WOW, that is amazing!!! You are kicking butt!! Good job on sticking to your plan, I am happy for you! A couple of the things that I eat daily have a good amount of sugar and I have been thinking about cutting them out to see how it goes.

JANUARY

1/1. 176.8
1/6. 176.6 (.2)
1/13. 171.2 (-4.4)
1/20. 170.6 (-.6)
1/27.

Start Weight: January 1, 2018 ~ 268.4
End of 2018 Goal Weight: 135
Current Weight ~ 260.6
Lbs Lost ~ 7.8
Lbs to go ~ 125.6

JANUARY
1/1 ~ 268.4
1/8 ~ 262 (-6.4)
1/15 ~ 260.6 (-1.4)
1/22 ~ 260.6

Last week was just weird. My weight went up and down a lot. I was actually up yesterday so was happy to be back down .8 today or I would have actually ended up with a gain for the week. I don't know what's going on as I'm staying 100% on plan and did all my scheduled workouts last week. A bit frustrated but I'll just keep at it. I'm starting IF back up today so hopefully no insulin spike in the evening will start making a difference.

I always heard as you get older losing weight gets much harder. Blah!

Hopefully this week will go better, I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

1/1: 200.4
1/8: 196.2 (-4.2 since 1/1)
1/15: 195.8 (-4.6 since 1/1)
1/22: 192.4 (-8.0 since 1/1)

I had a good week... I met my goal for the month without too much trouble and without feeling hungry or deprived. I'm expecting some resistance soon, so would be happy to maintain around 192 for the rest of the month. (The first few weeks are always the easiest... !)

I hope everyone is doing well!

Gail, you have left me eating your dust!! Congratulations!

Kim, we all have these times when we follow plan exactly and don't show a drop. There are so many things involved. To me, that means you're setting up for a whoosh!

Maggie, it's great that you are 5 lbs above a "normal weight." I don't see myself ever getting to that point.

I just read an article this morning that said that at my age, 72, weight on the scale is not as important as fitness. I agree with that. I have really let my exercise go and I notice the difference day to day. I am working toward increasing my fitness. My friend who is the same age as me is able to do much more than I can.

toomanydimples I have a couple weeks a month where I bounce up and around, the scale is so weird sometimes!! Great job sticking to your eating and fitness plan!! What kind of IF are you doing? I am doing a 16:8 (I think that is how you write it) 8 hour eating window, 16 hour fasting. I love it so much! Barely ever feel hungry or deprived!!

gail Congrats on making your goal so early!!!

carol I think fitness is extremely important too. I get envious of the people who work hard to keep a fitness routine. I hate working out, but that needs to change! I think I am going to commit myself to getting in regular workouts in Feb. and see how that goes. What type of exercises are you focusing on?

KFunk, I'm doing 18:6. My eating window is 7:30 to 1:30 because I can't go without my coffee in the morning and I can't do my coffee without stuff in it. I read an article a while back about how your insulin levels are highest in the morning when you wake up. So making your eating window early is the best time to get the most out of it because your fasting time has more benefits the hours before you go to bed. It was really interesting. I should have saved the link. I know a lot of people have their window later in the day so I like to share that when I can in case anyone doing IF wants to try moving their window to earlier in the day to see if it makes a different for them.
