It's a new week and I have new opportunities. I can finally say I'm not a mucus factory any longer, LOL. (cold/flu aftermath finally gone and allergies aren't flairing) As long as my vehicle problems don't continue in a series of "3's", I can aim of at least 3 visits to the gym. Although, I still have some periodic balance issues, I'm heavy enough that I won't likely tip over.

It's time to get back to basics and remind myself of my tools. It's so easy to slip back into old habits. So, let's see what I need to work on this week:
  • Get up earlier and get moving earlier (Time change on Sunday)
  • Limit early A.M. computer time
  • Get in multiple exercise sessions
  • Portion Control, Portion Control, Portion Control
Hope everyone is off to a good start!

GrannyNancy:
I'm glad the scale smiled at you today!

Stlrsgrl43:
Does NRLW stand for, "New Rules of Lifting for Women"? How is that working out for you?

Whick Samsung Gear model did you get? Is it the Fit2?

Heidi58 03-05-2018 01:15 PM

Hello Ladies,

I weighed in at 154.8 this morning. Not sure if that was the last of the water weight from stopping my meds or from stress over my sister. (She is out of the hospital but still has a partial obstruction and may still be facing surgery. They sent her home over the weekend because there were so many flu patients.) I'm feeling like a Zombie, lol - I've made too many drives back and forth from Maine to Massachusetts, but I am so blessed to be able to do it so I'm not complaining. I hope you're all having an excellent Monday!

P.S. I want to thank you all for your posts. I don't post much because it's so hard when I'm checking in on my phone but I do read most if not all of the posts. When I signed up for this challenge I wasn't expecting any drama in my life but I feel like that's all I've had.... If not for the challenge I'm pretty sure I would be settling right back in to my old habit of "Stress = Unhealthy Comfort Food".

Munchey, Yes, "New Rules of Lifting for Women, I love it. I completed the program before and with that program and eating 1500 calories a day, I lost 60 lbs, gained it all back then some so I am starting over. Toward the end of the program when I hit a stall on the weight loss, i was still losing inches. Last time I completed it, i went to the gym because it was only 2 miles away, this time, I have everything I need in my basement so I am lucky there because I have moved since then. The Samsung I got is the galaxy gear s2.

Hey Everyone!
I made it to the Horseback Riding Center yesterday and my Fitbit registered 11,000 steps. My plan is to get to the gym today. I'm still working on improving portion control and evening snacks.
I decided I need to revisit some of the basics, so I'll remind myself of why I need/want to lose weght: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...lar_bubble.gif
  • Knees will hopefully hurt less
  • Less back issues (Got to shrink "the girls")
  • Wear a better selection of clothes (hanging in the closed and lonely)
  • No value added in dragging my feet (enjoy more days, than endure)
Heidi58:
Congrats on your wt. loss this week! I'm glad the challenge has helped you. I hope your sister get's better soon. Is the partial obstruction that you sister is dealing with in an artery? If that's the case, and they have to do a procedure, hopefully it can be a less complex procedure, like putting in a stent (versus a bipass).

Stlrsgrl43:
Thanks for aharing about NRLW. I'm glad it works well for you. Weight training has a lot of benefits. I have several sets of dumbbells at home, that I need to start using more often. I look at the set of 20-lb dumbbells and wonder if I'll ever work my way up to using those again.

The Galaxy Gear S2 looks interesting. I saw that you can connect Bluetooth headphones. It might be handy to leave the cell phone in the car and stream music, etc. over your watch. Have you used that feature?

ange82much 03-06-2018 03:37 PM

Hi All, just a mid-week check in from me to say all is on plan still. After my longest plateau yet (9 days) I dropped a 1lb the last two days so happy. I'm now at the weight that I think I was once before but didn't dare look on the scales. I'm about 2lb off where I've seen on the scales a couple of times in the past before, so i'm excited about at least being back to a level where people have seen me historically (even though I have about 10lb still to go to the old limit at which i'd START a diet. Sigh!)

munchy - so who won last weeks weigh-in? Who should we be congratulating this week?! :)

The weekly stats, for 3-04-18, appear on the chart below.

Congrats to everyone for their accomplishments!

Angel82much is in the lead this week, with Flower1 in 2nd place. Heidi58 is in 3rd place, with GrannyNancy very close behind. Thanks to everyone who is still participating. I hope everyone has a great week! It's never too late to get back on track, pick up where you left off and crawl back up from the slippery slope.

PLEASE NOTE: If you did not provide a weight entry for this week, you won't appear on the chart. If you provide a weight entry next week, you will appear on that chart. A red weight/lb entry indicates one of the following: Participant did not provide a weight entry for that weigh-in, or participant provided a weight after Monday.

ange82much 03-06-2018 03:54 PM

Thanks Munchey- I was rubbish this week, but I think the weekly tally is more fun :)
Big congrats to Heidi58 for a 3.3lb loss - that's huge, and Flower1 you're tiny already so a 2.2 for you is massive!! And Grannynancy great to see a good number again from you this week too as you seem to have been on a mega-plateau recently and really deserve it. MorningGlory and Stllrgirl - both really solid weeks

This must be the best week of losses as a group that we've had - by a long way! Yay us! Over 14lb!!

stlrsgrl43 03-06-2018 05:26 PM

Congrats to everyone on their losses, wow wtg.
munchey, no I haven't tried that feature yet.

grannynancy 03-07-2018 06:21 AM

Good Morning. Glad to see the victories and those of us who are left are moving in the right direction. Maybe not as fast as we want but nobody told us this would be easy peasy.

MorningGlory1950 03-08-2018 07:54 AM

Wow! What an awesome week! I am so happy for all of us that keep on trying. Hope springs eternal. Thanks, grannynancy, for such encouragement.

I am hopeful the mystery for my plateau is solved. I had my blood work done on Tuesday and results show my thyroid level extremely low! So Synthroid increased, plus I am now taking it at night. It has been almost 11 years since I had thyroidectomy and I may have malabsorption of meds due to coffee and vitamin intake too close to time I was taking Synthroid.

Go figure...

So we shall see. I am optimistic!

magistra17 03-10-2018 01:35 PM

Down a little today. Some progress is better than no progress, so I'm celebrating! :D

Congrats to everyone who has kept it going and had a loss last week no matter how small. Good for you! You are awesome! :carrot:

I consider it a good week even if I maintain. A gain just means I have to focus. Sometimes my weight goes up and down from week to week, but if I were to chart my overall experience, I would see that my weight has been steadily dropping since last July. And to me that is success.

Have a wonderful day everybody!

ange82much 03-10-2018 05:40 PM

whooshi-whooska-whooshing for me this week :)
Down 3.5lb ish and I hit my target weight for this challenge!
I'm on a plane and working away from this morning for either a week or two weeks so no more weighing either myself or my food for a while, which will be challenging, but a good practice for 'real life' I guess.

Hey Everyone:
Time change tonight, so there's light around the corner. It was a rainy day today and I was a couch potato and watched a movie, Netflix and Hulu.

I'm supposed to go to a training class at the riding ctr. tomorrow. Hopefully, the rain stops or the class will likely be cancelled. If it's cancelled, I'll go to the gym instead.

My food was better this week. Still working on portion control and eating after dinner. Work in progress.

I got 2 days of high mileage in at the horseback riding ctr, and I got to the gym on Friday. I've got to get in more gym days.

Hope everyone has a good weigh-in.

Ange82much:
Congrats on reaching your goal for this challenge - Good Job!

I agree that it can be a good thing to step back from weighing yourself and your food for a couple of weeks.

Magistra17:

Conats on your accomplishments! I agree with you. We all need to work at our own pace, and with our unique set of circumstances. You are heading in the right directon. Keep up the good work!

MorningGlory1950:
I hope that the changes in dosage and administration of your thyroid med helps with your weight loss. It's good that you checked that out. I hope that the scale starts smiling at you.

grannynancy 03-11-2018 09:22 AM

Ange82much - wow you sure are rocking it!

Morningglory1950 - I imagine the thyroid changes will have a profound impact.

Magistra - yes - I have sure seen some tough times recently where you do all right and it does not show. Just have faith that steadiness and consistency will pay off.

Well I got to 190, which is a 2.4 drop from the previous week, and I should be overjoyed but I had dropped to 190 last Monday and went as low as 188 earlier in the week. Even so that is a good loss and I have to keep reminding myself the changes I am making are not short term but a lifestyle overhaul! It may take much longer to take off that last 40lbs.

stlrsgrl43 03-11-2018 11:35 AM

I didn't lose much this week, I had a high sodium day yesterday but I have been on track with my calories and workouts so hoping for a whoosh this week. Everyone is doing so great, wtg.
