Sorry I have been absent for a couple days...was a busy weekend! Just going to do a quick check in to catch up! Weigh-in was 265.8 this morning, which is a pound down from yesterday. However, I am expecting a little bump back up tomorrow, because I didn't eat a ton yesterday and TOM is now officially in full swing. It would be nice if I got to keep the mini whoosh, though! Haha. Hope everyone is having a tolerable Monday! ;)

A happy happy me this morning! No idea if it is here to stay, BUT, I saw 204.0 this morning, 3 times just to check!

NightSnacker Hoping for good news from you today that your figure stuck.

Ronja Wow, another great loss! Fasting and you really get on well! Congratulations!

Ophelia & Leah Heeellooo! Hope you are both doing well and staying on plan :)

For me today it is another crazy busy day at work, but my new low has given me determination to stay on plan! Also, my dresses that I will potentially wear to the weddings in April arrived yesterday, so I have extra drive to make those look good! Also, I have 5 girlfriends visiting this weekend so will be totally off plan, soooooo between now and then I've got to make it count!

takingcontrol thank you, I am sure the number will be somewhat higher tomorrow, but hopefully not too much. But 204.0, OH WOW!!! Congratulations!!! Do you feel like doing a happy dance? :D

I tried to drink lot of water to not get dehydrated while fasting. I've also learnt that many people experience fast weight loss in the beginning of fasting, as the body uses its sugar reserves to compensate for the lack of energy comming in, and apparently sugar is bound in cells with water, so there's a lot of water release when the body start using its sugar reserves. When the sugar reserves are gone, body starts consuming its fat reserves, which is what you want, but it doesn't go nearly as quick. So I'm sure I'm soon going to see a significant slow down, but that's ok.

takingcontrol 02-14-2017 03:27 AM

Ronja Thank you! And, yes, I totally did a happy dance, just me and the scales in the spare room thankfully, so I didn't subject anyone else to it!

I find the fasting stuff fascinating, but am totally not disciplined enough to manage it myself! I love that idea of fasts eating away at fat stores, sounds like the stuff of dreams!

Ronja 02-14-2017 04:48 AM

takingcontrol it's definitely different strokes for different folks. I myself struggle with "moderation". In some twisted way it's easier for me to not eat any candies whatsoever than to just have one. In a same way I find it easier (again, for myself) to have a day when I eat nothing, then to be organised and count every single calory I eat on a given day. I think what we all need is to find what works for us, what does our body well, what keeps us happy, healthy and helps us to lose weight. It's also good to be prepared that this may not be permanent and what works now may need some adjusting further down the road.

MonteCristo 02-14-2017 08:33 AM

Oops, forgot to update....

Starting Weight: 209.2lbs
Goal Weight: 199.8lbs
To Lose: 9.4lbs

02/01/17 - 209.2lbs
02/12/17 - 212.2 (TOM)

LovelyLeah 02-14-2017 09:57 AM

Ronja I completely agree with you that each person has to find what works for them. One of my pet peeves is when someone finds out works for them and then says that it's the only way that works. Every body is different so every body needs something else.

Today I'm not going to really worry about being OP. I have the day with my husband and we're just going to enjoy it. I'm still going to try to eat healthier but I'm not going focus on it too much.

NightSnacker 02-14-2017 04:35 PM

My number didn't stick and I'm trying to up my weights and cardio to get it moving. I log every single bit of food that even approaches my mouth so yeah frustrating. Still, I have other health goals and I'm doing better with those so at least I can hang on to that success to keep me in the game.

Ronja Nice progress, seems that fasting plan is a good thing for you!

takingcontrol that's awesome, congrats on the nice numbers

Lovelyleah I feel you on the numbers but you're definitely having a great month

opheliaphoenix 02-14-2017 07:13 PM

Ronja: You are making great progress with your fasting plan! How has your milk supply been holding up? I know that was something you were keeping an eye on while trying it out.

takingcontrol: Hiiii! I hope you have fun this weekend...sounds like you are set to have an amazing time! I miss having friends who live near me, lol. Enjoy it and just hang those dresses on your bedroom wall to remember to get right back on plan after the weekend is over. ;)

MonteCristo: Oh man, TOM is in town to visit me right now too...ugh, lol. I haven't had too much bloating this time, so maybe I will get lucky and it won't mess with me too much. Maybe it is just making up for being terrible last month? Haha. Glad to see you dropping in for an update!

LovelyLeah: Enjoy your evening with your husband! I am about to indulge in some chocolate that we both got today, and we may even pop open our nice bottle of hard cider as well. It's not champagne, but I think it is even better most of the time. :)

NightSnacker: I think you're right about it probably being bloat today. Did you have any extra sodium/salt yesterday? Not everyone is as sensitive to it, but I know it throws me off quickly. With you tracking everything so dutifully, it can be frustrating to see a gain...it's amazing how much water retention can toy with our scales!

Today's weigh-in was 265.6, which makes for 3.2 lbs down for Week Two. Which is funny, because that was the exact amount for last week...for all the ups and downs, I guess this month has at least been consistent so far. Fingers crossed that it keeps up, lol.

Also, Happy Valentine's Day everyone! :val3:

nightsnacker Thanks for the reminder! As obnoxious as it is to watch a stubborn scale you are right I'm having a good month. The month is half over and I'm about halfway to my goal. I'm still on track.

Ophelia I'm about to make some chocolate covered strawberries for myself. Well hopefully, I'm a little hopeless in the kitchen but how hard is it to melt chocolate and dip a strawberry in?

takingcontrol 02-15-2017 02:57 AM

Happy Valentine's Day belatedly to all, quite envious of the choccies and strawberries! All very well deserved I am sure!

LovelyLeah - I hope that you had a wonderful day and that your 'cooking' worked out just great :D You never know, going off plan and having a few more calories might of actually being a good one day change.... I will never understand how that works, but am starting to believe that it does!

Ophelia - you are killing it week in, week out, well done! I really hope your bloating stays away this month. I know we know that that is what it is if the scale sticks, but it doesn't stop it being annoying! Hope you had a lovely evening with your husband. I miss close friends too, these girls are flying in from the UK, which makes it even more special!

NIghtsnacker - I hope the little rise was bloating and that your increased exercise day shifts it. I'm sure you are, but increase your water in take too.... that is my magic trick often. It is great you're seeing other health benefits while your weight is overall moving in the right direction. If your plan is sustainable you will get there eventually and be much healthier along the way :)

Montecristo - Hope you are well, and hope your number bounces back down soon when you stop retaining water.

Ronja - your explanation of why fasting works for you makes perfect sense! I am with you to a degree on abstinence being easier than moderation. I can't have any sweets, crisps, 'bad' foods in the house or in my diet as I would never just have one biscuit, one portion of crisps etc. But, I love food and eating too much to be able to manage giving up meals from the mental barrier point of view. However, seeing your success is fantastic to watch!

Oh my, this weight thing is a complete mystery! Another lb down this morning after what felt like forever bouncing around in the 205s...... I had given up on making onederland this month and hitting target, but now I am back to believing I can and will see a 1 at the beginning of my weight before the end of Feb, let's see! I am 0.2 lb away from losing my first stone, which as a Brit is rather significant so I am excited about that one!

I guess i was bloated but not sure if it's salt related, honestly I've likely never eaten a meal in my life that I didn't salt as I ate it :o

Since the start I'm logging my water and never falling below 80 ounces, usually over a hundred. I'm floating away here lol.

Worked out on and off many little sessions yesterday, one sensible meal and then...well took the kids to Subway for sandwiches, got myself one planning to eat half, would have been about 600 calories, since it was evening I weakened and ate the whole thing instead. So a 1200 calorie dinner but I honestly just snuck under limit due to so much working out. Did me no harm apparently, or I'll feel the pain of that slip tomorrow who knows.

I certainly won't make my very high goal for this month, had hoped I was still in my whoosh phase but I guess that all happened in January. I'll still be happy if I lose steadily and end the insane ups and downs. My fat is stubborn but I'm more stubborn. Beach vacation is getting closer, I want to feel good walking the beach for hours and at least feel I can wear light summer clothing without being miserable about how I look. I'm realistic, I know I wont be lean but I'll feel good if I can make 40lbs by April. I'm at 15.6 pounds off since Jan 23.

My chocolate covered strawberries worked out really well. I was very happy about that.

I think I know why my weight has become stagnant. TMI but I am seriously backed up. I always forget this happens when I make a big diet change and start cutting a lot of things out. I spoke with a friend of mine from high school today who lost over 200 lbs and has become a nutritionist. She said that a big cause of constipation with dieters is the lack of fat in their diet. The best way she explained it to me was that you need to grease the pipes if you want anything to slide through. But since fats are so high in calories those of us who count calories avoid them. She also told me that's why a lot of diets end up failing because fat is a huge part of feeling satisfied. I was laughing because she prescribed that I eat some fried eggs with bacon and buttered toast. Not your normal "diet" meal but I'll trust her. She said that's obviously in moderation but to not be afraid of having mayo, whole milk, butter, guac, cheese, etc. They add flavor and richness as long as they aren't the main staple of the whole dish.

Hi everyone  Congratulations to everyone on their losses! :carrot: Hope you all had a great start to our new week! 2 weeks to go! I did not WI today after indulging in a lot of last night's diner. Last I checked, I had lost 1.3 so far this month but have been struggling to hold steady. I will keep at it, it's not over yet! lol Sometimes I maintain and then things get moving again with a good drop so I will see how this next week pans out.

Night I love what you said about your fat is stubborn but your more stubborn! :carrot:

Ronja Congrats on another great loss! :carrot: This plan is working wonderful for you, go girl! :) I totally know what you mean about moderation, I had 3 choc. last night and if I had more in the house I would of ate them! lol Thanks for the inspiration dear lady and that goes out to all of you!

Touch base again soon, have a terrific night everyone!
