Afternoon everyone,
It was weighing-in day for me today, but not great news on the scales:( SW - 180 GW - 173 6/7 - 181.8 10/7 - 177.8 13/7 - 178.2 I don't know why I seem to have gone up a bit as I've been completely on plan, I suppose it's just a bit of natural fluctuation. It will teach me to weigh more than once a week; it just doesn't seem to suit me and instead of being pleased with my overall loss for the week I'm in a grump instead!! Love to all xx |
Morning Everyone:) It's Marvelous Monday!
Hope everyone had a great weekend and stayed on plan. Let's make it a good week!. Time for my second cup of :coffee: Will check in tomorrow morning. |
Magistra We actually decided to put the ring shopping off until today because we both ended up getting it off and we'd have more time. The transition was extremely smooth since I've worked there before. It's a seasonal job and this will be my 3rd year back. My boss/owner was so excited that I quit my other job and that I'm coming back full time.
SW: 196 (6/30) 7/1 - 195.5 7/2 - 196 7/3 - 198 7/4 - 197.5 7/5 - 196 7/6 - 196 7/7 - 195.5 7/8 - 194.5 7/9 - 194.5 7/10 - 193.5 7/11 - 193.5 7/12 - 193 7/13 - 194.5 - I think it's water weight based on the amount of soreness in my legs!!! Setting up the store has been such a workout. I've moved a few heavy boxes and my thighs are not having it! But based on where the pain is it means I'm finally starting to get the hang of lifting with my legs/knees and not my back. Not even a twinge of pain there. GW: 189.5 |
I finally got brave enough to weigh in this morning for the first time in almost a month. And, I was happy with the number. Posting works!

Jacqui, thanks for the encouragement! You seem like a really great person! Love the way you interact with everyone.
Magistra, thank you for the compliment! I try to stay positive...nothing worse than putting yourself in a bad mood. Especially when there are plenty of people out there that are more than willing to do it for you! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Didn't have much trouble with the food...it's the alcohol that I have to fight with. Maybe I need some new friends!...ones that don't drink! Happy Monday! |

I don't think you should trade in the friends, lol, but maybe plan beforehand to switch over to water after a certain number of drinks. Plus, drinking water after drinking alcohol will help you avoid a hangover since hangovers are caused by dehydration! Yay, Joy! I'm glad posting is helping you! Plus, it's just nice seeing you here each day! :cp: Leah, sounds like a good workout! And that water weight will drop off soon enough so the exercise is definitely worth it! :jig: Lovemylife, always nice to see your cheery greeting, especially on a Monday, lol! :flow1: EnolaAlone, it's definitely a natural fluctuation since you've been on plan. You're doing great! :broc: But I have to admit, that is exactly why I cannot weigh only once a week. I've tried at different times and I was always so disappointed when I had waited all week and the scale was up on that one weigh-in day because of water weight. Weighing each day, I can see the daily fluctuations and they don't bother me. Somehow it works for me! :goodscale: Purple, I'm glad today was brighter for you! Woohoo on another .5 loss! :cb: Hanin, good luck on your weigh-in! :crossed: |

Enola I agree with Jacqui about weighing in every day versus every week. I understand that for many it helps them to avoid becoming obsessed with the numbers and if that's your case than it's great to avoid daily weigh-ins. For me I like to see the patterns of my daily fluctuations and more data means more information. For example, yesterday I was up 1.5 pounds purely on water weight. I know that it's a side effect of strenuous workout so it doesn't bother me one bit. I know it's water weight because I can look at the days surrounding it and see it doesn't fit with my average. But if I didn't have that information and that was the one day I weighed in I'd be concerned about what the cause was and I'd get more obsessive about my food and exercise.
______________________ Ring shopping was fun! I only had to deal with one a**hole salesman. When I told him I was just looking at settings for ideas because I actually wanted a moissanite stone and not a diamond he freaked. He said "we won't touch those here, we only use real diamonds, none of those fake diamond simulants." Oh **** no! I was polite but I cut him off right there. Gemology is a hobby of mine, moissanite is it's own gemstone, it's not like cubic zirconia which is lab created to look specifically like a diamond. Moissanite naturally occurs looking similar, but since they are rarer than diamonds they are synthetically made, and with far more luck and consistency than lab created diamonds. I like my rocks! His attitude was so off-putting that after I explained what I like about moissanites I just thanked him and walked out of the store. If you want your commission their, buddy, you better respect your clients! But other than that we had a lot of luck with some very friendly and accommodating jewelers. It was just day one so we're still going to look around a bit more. Hello again,
Magistra and Jacqui, thank you so much for the kind words, they are appreciated :) Jacqui, it's interesting that you weigh more often to compensate for natural fluctuations, I just can't do that as I get too caught up in it and get a bit obsessed :o. Overall I've done well so far, I'm on target just about and that's including a weeks holiday, so I am pleased, but because I weighed in the week and I know I was a bit lower I felt really negative yesterday, which is silly really. It's true that if you only weigh weekly it does make weighing day a bit more scary though (I tend to be extremely careful the day before!). I definitely couldn't weigh monthly either, I'd always think there was plenty of time for a week off :D |
Good Morning Everyone:)
I'm a little late posting this cloudy Tuesday morning. I got my workout in early today. I have been doing really good with my water intake, so I'm thrilled about that. Magistra17 Congrats on the loss :carrot: Jacqui :congrat: on the drop, only place to go is down. And I must agree with Susiekay you are awesome and so welcoming. You are so positive and that's what we need to stay motivated. So thanks for all of your encouragement :cheer: Well off for more :coffee: Enjoy your day everyone! |
Leah, sorry, cross-posted with you! Yes, I can definitely see the argument for daily weighing, I suppose I just hope that if I stay on plan I should have an overall loss across a week. I don't know as much detail/whether I'm carrying much water on that particular day, but I think I've a tendency to get a bit obsessive and easily disheartened by natural variation so I think this suits me best.
Ring shopping is great! When we did it we walked into the first shop, both saw the same ring we liked (which also happened to be reduced in the sale) and bought it. I sort of wish we'd spent longer looking now (although I love my ring, I just don't get to go shopping for jewellery very often). DH seemed very relieved it was so easy though! :D |

I've noticed a few of you indicate having a weekly "Carb Day". Would you care to share what kinds of foods you eat on your carb day? Is it a carb free for all, or something more managed? Thanks in advance for the input!
|
Enola I used to be the same way with being obsessive and it's great that you've recognize that in yourself.
My fiance was laughing so hard at me yesterday as we were shopping. He knows that I'm super indecisive but also too nice to say that I don't like something. He thought it was hilarious and luckily the sales people were pretty patient with me. |

Leah, I think it's great that you know what you want in a gem (and moissanites are lovely), and you're not letting any saleperson who's obviously paid on commission talk you out of it! :dancer: SusieKay, CONGRATS on reaching ONEderland! 199! :bravo: As for Carb Day, I am on a diet that is not a low-carb/ketosis diet but is a slow-carb/low glycemic index diet. Typically I avoid foods like bread, cereal, rice, grains, pasta, potatoes, starchy foods, and sweets (aka craving-causing, blood sugar-spiking, quick-burning carbs), but one day a week, called Carb Day, I can eat anything I want as much as I want. I try not to go "crazy" on that day since I have to go right back to slow-carb eating the next day, but if I want to go "all out," I'm allowed (and sometimes I do)! I usually gain between .5 and 2.5 lbs in water weight on Carb Day, because for every gram of carbohydrate that the body converts and stores as glycogen to burn for energy, it also stores 3 grams of water. Because it is just water and not fat, however, the weight usually comes back off in a couple of days and I continue to lose. That's how the Slow Carb Diet is designed. So that's the Slow Carb Diet, and Carb Day, in a nutshell, lol! Joy, :cp: on posting! Enola, Oh, I understand about not being able to weigh monthly! I'd be the same way! You should definitely do what works best for you! Lovemylife, thank you! That is so sweet! I feel the same way about your posts! Purple, thanks! And I'm so glad you are feeling good about weigh-in now tonight! :spin: As for me, my weight stayed the same today! :D I was expecting that since I was pretty sore and achy after yesterday's workout, so I figured I might hold onto water. Very quick check-in since I over slept. TOM, you've only been gone 2 days, why are you back in full force? Go home, nobody likes you here!! Grr...it's been like 2 weeks. I hate adjusting to new birth control pills. My insurance doesn't work this month because of a glitch in renewal so I can go in a see my doctor but I called her office and spoke to her nurse. She said, while uncommon, it does happen sometimes when switching hormones. No, I don't like this. Luckily my weight isn't going all wacky from it. Though this would explain why I've felt more bloated and had to start going to looser notches on my belt. I don't like this feeling!

Going to be sunny and 75 :flow1: (hey I think that's the name of a song lol) But such a beautiful day for us here today. I wish it could stay that temp year round. Hope everyone is doing great. Will check in tomorrow. Have a great day. |
I like to do weekly check-ins (I simply don't have the time to do it more often).
I would say I'm happy where I'm at, as well, it's a great set of losses for 15 days. BUT... these are "probably" the only losses I'll see this month as AF is sure to arrive any minute and then will begin the 2 week stall out. I 'might' lose a tad more, but probably won't make the 10 lbs goal.... not that it will derail to NOT get there. I just hate my monthly stall outs!!! So... ten pound goal for me this month. BerryBB, your stats are awesome! It's nice you have a monthly pattern figured out and know what to expect. I have studied my stats again and again and there seems to be no pattern at all!
Leah, I'm sorry to hear about you having a 2nd TOM in a month. I've done that a couple of times because of being pre-menopausal and it's no fun! Hopefully, you'll get another whoosh of weight loss though! :crossed: Lovemylife, what a beautiful day! We seem to be having a mild day here so far too, but it's supposed to switch and get into the 90's. I don't mind that as long as it's not humid! :beach: Pigeon, yay! I'm so glad things are going well! That's great news! Woohoo on the losses! :yay: Keli, great job! Jacqui D don't you hate it when you get close to a mini goal and then it starts going up and back down and staying within a half pound of the goal - that has happened to me several times and it is aggravating :/
