BFR, you gotta cook those dogs something less appealing, darling -- less appealing to you, that is.

The dogs will be happy with something plainer than corn-that-which-will-not-be-named.

You're feeling those withdrawals, but you can get back in the groove. Hang in there. And make them something less tasty to the human palate!

Sum -- great job maintaining a lower weight with an injury. You should be proud, that's rocking!

NEW LOW THIS MORNING!!! Ok, so it's only down .2 but it's a new low!

230.2 Now, lets see if I can FINALLY break into the 220's. I'm pretty sure, when I do, alarms will go off and the White House could be alerted at my breach of security.

Waiting for the temp to go a bit higher (currently 27) before I do my C25K workout. Brrrr!!!

Hoping all of you are having a blessed day!!

I'm glad you pulled yourself back from the brink and rejoined us! Falling into too much XXXXX is life, climbing out is transcendent (if a little cumby). You got this. :)

Six (6) times Snarky mentions XXXXX in one sentence then follows up the next sentence by mentioning XXXXX again....

Tell me, ladies, do I see passive aggression here in action ??????

Well, this is day 4 for me without any XXXXX and today is going fine... So far. BFR here, grateful member of that which cannot be mentioned anonomyous. Thanks for letting me share.

I am never passive aggressive. I'm aggressive aggressive.

Sorry if I somehow contributed to difficulties in any way with the talk talk. Many apologies to all. :)

I love me some turnips. No kidding, I really do. And turnip greens as well. I figure these should be safer to discuss. It is cold-ish here, a big pan of roasted veg is in order.

Mossy 01-16-2015 03:04 PM

BFR - I see two good friends who've turned a forum of strangers into something much, much more and something we look forward to reading.

The long term dedication and inspiration, continued good choices; great mentoring. Thanks again, to you both.

Mossy 01-16-2015 03:15 PM

How many weeks can go by before you experience one of these whooshes?
What is the longest a plateau has ever went on and on and on - for months and years on end?

Are there any secret things you can do besides messing with dial on the scale to make it weigh less? I tried that to see if the power of my mind was keeping it at the same place from low expectations.

I put it back where it was supposed to be. I stayed off of it for weeks at a time. No change. I can't run outside, it's solid ice and snow. The only gym is loaded with folks who have the flu. I swim, lift weights every other day...is running the answer?

Troia 01-16-2015 10:17 PM

Hi all! I am new to all this ... so bear with me if I make mistakes. Yesterday starts (again) my new mindset for losing weight. I am in my late 40's and looking for support with people that understand the problems of trying to lose weight. I work full-time in a retail environment and manage to usually walk about 7,000 - 10,000 steps per day (just helping customers). I will try to make a daily weigh-in. Looking forward to making some new friends! ~Troia

1/16 - 214 lbs.

Mrs Snark 01-17-2015 06:50 AM

Welcome Troia! :carrot:

Mossy - I always got as good a workout with swimming as with running -- swimming is hardcore. I can't believe running would be the answer since you are doing everything right. I'd swim all the time if it were as easy to access a pool as it is to go for a run (which for me it isn't, by far) because I think the low impact benefits are awesome!

Jb1975 01-17-2015 08:58 AM

Kifli, Thanks!

Mossy, from 11/26 until 1/15 I bounced between 230.4 and 236.6 Believe me when I say I understand were you are coming from! I started C25K on 11/31 and thought that would really get me set to make my goals throughout Dec and January. That is when I stalled. I had to take a 2 week break, due to pleurisy, and that is actually when I saw my Christmas low of 230.4 Now, I am still doing C25K and I have finally had a whoosh (230.2 yesterday and 228.6 today) so maybe my body is finally adjusting to this added exercise? Maybe it was just taking a break from weight loss? Maybe I've been stalling on the scale but I've been loosing inches (that's what hubby says.....says I look smaller than I did at Thanksgiving)?
So, while I don't know what the answer is for you, running was not the IMMEDIATE answer for me. Of course if you can do more than a few minutes of a jog, at a time, without getting winded then things could be vastly different!
Whatever your answer is, I hope you find it quickly!!

gardenerjoy 01-17-2015 10:09 AM

Welcome, Troia! Would you like to set a goal for January? It's perfectly fine if you don't -- just tracking with us is helpful, too!

Mossy: you might find the book The Step Diet by James O. Hill, et. al. helpful right now. They design pauses into their weight loss scheme and have help for getting started again - and help for how to decide if you want to keep going. Not all of us make it to our original goal weight because we set it lower than made sense when we got there (mine was 150, but I felt good at 170 and couldn't imagine feeling healthy if I reduced my calories further.).

January goal: -0.8kgs New goal: -0.95kgs more
