Well done everyone! Some really great losses this week!! :D I'm loving how positive this thread is.

Delphi That is so cool, I'll be cheering for you! Hope you enjoy your pizza.

Amandie You're so right, I just got myself worked up. I gave myself today to mope and then I'm back to the gym tomorrow. lol
So glad your knee is all okay! :)

Zoesmom Thanks for the suggestion, I'm definitely going to do that. And a big hooray on your extra special loss this week! I'm absolutely delighted for you, must have been all that hard work your little helper did getting you out jogging ;)

saggzz keeping my fingers, legs...toes? crossed for you! Let us know how you get on

Katie816 04-25-2013 06:16 PM

Great job everyone!

wannaskipandlaugh 04-25-2013 06:31 PM

Amandie You amaze me...... Keeping up with 50+ people. That is something... and I am sorry that you were up that darn ole .8..... but working on this thread I would think that that in itself exercised out that .8 :)

I still think that this is just TOO COOL!! :)

SuperHero - I am not a southern girl  I just reside here due to a misunderstanding between my real dad and I. He thought I would like living here. I thought he was going to stay here. Nope. He moved us as far away from our relatives as he could than dropped my mom, sister, and I off and headed back west. No worries though. This is where I met my husband and where my mom met my wonderful step-dad, so joke's on my real dad! HAHA! I am actually a Carmichael, CA girl originally. I go back time to time for visits but ultimately, I don't think I would move back. As much as I HATE the humidity here (I will GLADLY take 115 degree weather out west than 73 degree weather here...GAH! HUMIDITY!!!) I really don't want to be parted from my mom, and she's made it clear that this is where she wants to be. So, such is life, humidity and all. Still hate the words "yonder" and "o'der" and still can't stand the taste or smell of deep fried everything, but ultimately, not as bad as I once thought it was. Helps that I now live closer to Atlanta now. When he moved us here, he moved us to Tate City, GA. Look it up. You can find a picture here or there of the "city" sign proclaiming a population +/- 32. I mean, the barn is both City Hall AND the church!

zoesmom - I'm seriously laughing out loud at the barn that is BOTH City Hall and the church! I live literally just across the river from Carmichael in Gold River! We were practically neighbors! I did my student teaching at Coyle Avenue School in Carmichael.

That scale would be so freaking awesome! Think of the marketing potential - not just us compulsive daily weighers, but the whole world of geekdom too! You'd make a billion if you set up a booth at ComiCon :D

I'm sorry I'm not in a very good mood today; I gained and I feel just... yeah, I'm sure you guys know. I'm sorry for posting so negatively.

Emula - I'm sorry the gym was a let down :(. Kudos to you for going though! And kudos to you for going back, because I know you will (if you haven't already)! :carrot:

And your post is so not negative. We all have bad days, it's life. We're all here to help each other through the good days and the bad.

Delphi - I will be thinking of you running your heart out on Saturday. Kick butt, I know you can do it!!!

Amandie - YOU ROCK! This challenge is awesome, the spreadsheet is awesome, the people here are awesome, and you created it all!:cp:

everyone - congratulations on a great first week to everyone who posted a loss! Hang in there if you didn't have a loss; you know it has to come eventually with all the hard work you're putting in.

MrsD2008 04-25-2013 07:14 PM

I know today is the first WI day, am I too late? I don't want to add my info to the spreadsheet if I am too late.

SW: 221.4
GW: 206.4
That's 15 lbs in 10 weeks, 1.5 lbs a week. I can do this!

wannaskipandlaugh 04-25-2013 07:56 PM

Never too late..... click on the spreadsheet in the first post, add your name, your starting weight, your week 1 weight and your goal... and watch it go down down down over the weeks! :)

IanG 04-25-2013 10:09 PM

Thanks amandie, 100Mother and zoesmom.

Amandie, gym was awesome today. I like it because it makes every day a weekend for me (when I am more active with chores, kids etc.) rather than just sitting at a desk.

amandie 04-26-2013 12:31 AM

Glad you joined us, MrsD!!! :) Your goals sounds really doable.

Happy to hear you did well at the gym, Ian!

Delphi- That is so funny! In my previous post, I was gonna ask you to post a pic of everything you picked up for the race but I changed my mind. Thanks so much for sharing! I am sooo excited for you!

Thanks, Wannaskipandlaugh and SuperHeroTeacher! I couldn't do this challenge without you all though!

I didn't get to work out today, the basement reeks of the sealer that the BF put down earlier today (like paint/glue or something) and I was getting a headache from staying down there too long so hoping it'll be mostly gone by tomorrow so I can get a workout in!

NathalieMargareta 04-26-2013 05:17 AM

I am so in! I definitely need this kick in the butt after over-eating this weekend. My boyfriend was over (he lives in England, and I live in Sweden) and for some reason we always go mental with food when we see each other. I guess in that sense it is quite lucky we can't see each other every week, haha. Now I've managed to get a bad cold, which I would normally work out with (anything above the neck is fine and all that), but I've got a fever so nope *sighs*.

But hey, on a more positive note, this is my first post after lurking for 3 weeks or so. AND good job on all of your weight loss this week, I'm impressed!

Delphi 04-26-2013 08:10 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

margareta ~ :welcome: aboard. I'm so glad you decided to post and join our little slice of heaven. Now lets burn some calories shall we? Goodluck!

amandie ~ Perhaps by Monday you guys can go back down there. Is there not a window down there you can open to air it out. I don't blame you for not going down and its probably dangerous to go down there for any amount of time due to the fumes. The picture was just of my race gear but I got all kind of goodies. All the sponsors were there giving out all kind of freebies. Oooh, I even got a snazzy pair of bright neon green Geiko shoe strings that I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with. lol! I don't mind sharing here. This is my own personal "Cheers" and its nice to have that place to go to share this journey with like-minded people who can totally appreciate your success and whole-heartedly understand your struggles and frustrations or failures.

Ian ~ Argh...I know how you feel. I'm another one stuck at my desk and I totally agree. I almost think I feel more tired on the days I work and stuck at my PC all day. It is really draining for me.

Thanks emula and superheroteacher for the encouragement. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. You guys are awesome!!

As for me, I am off on Friday so I was able to get some sleep. Good thing to as I do not believe i will be able to sleep too much tonight. We have to get up at 2 anyway to get ready, get to parking, then get on a shuttle to take us to the actual start line and wait for our corral to be released. Race starts at 7, so it shall be a busy, rainy morning even before the race starts and given recent events, security will be heightened and they are asking everyone to treat the race like its the airport and get there early as there will be extra security measures they have implemented.

So now, I think my nerves are starting to get the best of me. My big butt out there with all those real runners and such. I believe 30,000 + runners attending this one. So I'm, scared, nervous and perhaps a little apprehensive. I know I have trained my butt off for this since January but my fat-girl complex loves to beat me down sometimes, so that is where I am at today. Gotta get my head straight before I strap on my running shoes and do this thing.

Well sorry, I'm just rambling. I really hope everyone has an exceptional day and that you kick arse at all you do today and burn boat loads of calories.

zoesmom 04-26-2013 08:18 AM

SuperHero - You have no idea. Here's Tate City's population sign.

Here is the barn/church/city hall. Oh. And I forgot to mention it is also the community center.

And I forgot about this one. The city mall. :lol3: They sold burlap sack and mason jars and venison. Dead serious.

Just picture. Moved from Carmichael...to...that. There was some freaky nights with some freaky sounds there in the beginining.

:WELCOME: Nathalie - you are going to LOVE it here....BEST support system out there!

Delphi - I am so envious...and still a bit glad it isn't me. You rock! And you are going to rock that run!!! Kudos to you! :congrat:

Wondering who made it to gym/workout yesterday. Not me. But it was a Thursday...that is the only day of the week my schedule keeps me from doing ANYTHING. Something about work and then volunteer work at my work (I work for a non-profit for disabled individuals so once a week I help out by volunteering after my day is done) and then taking a four year old to ballet class and then trying to find a place for dinner and bedtime leave me really unable to do much of anything else. Funny hour 24 hours seems like a long time until you really have to cram 48 hours into it. I petition more hours in our days. Especially on the weekends.

I wasn't entirely on plan last night. Bummer. I ended up with a falt on my way home (I KNOW, right! I mean, I JUST mentioned how I don't have time for anything on Thursdays and then a flat?! I don't have time for time!) Any ways, kiddo was starving...I was starving...and we lost an hour with me trying to change it out. Why do they put those things on so tight! ARGH! So, she got pizza. I didn't eat pizza...but I discovered that pasta sauce over veggies has a LOT more calories than I originally thought...so, I ate over my allowed budget. Grumble. But today is a new day! And I discovered that an EAS Carb AdvantEDGE shake with Mc'D's black coffee equals a latte with not anywhere of the fat, carbs, sugar, or calories of a regular latte...and it was GOOD! So, today, I am starting off in the right direction!

Happy Friday all! It's going to be great!

Sum38 04-26-2013 08:21 AM

Justb1027 was our winner for the week! :woohoo:

alinnell 04-26-2013 09:58 AM

1st weigh-in = down .7. Not quite a pound so I've got to step it up a bit. I'm golfing in a charity tournament today which will be a challenge. The golf part is good exercise, but the food and drink will be a challenge. Lunch is provided by Ruth's Christ steak house and several restaurants offer goodies at several tee boxes (one is Buffalo Wild Wings) and then dinner is provided by a local restaurant. Give me the will power to stick to good food choices! Then this weekend I have two mornings with golfing so I'm really hoping for a better outcome next week.

frieden 04-26-2013 10:06 AM

Amandie and Delphi, thanks for the encouragement. You're right, it's best to think positive. Amandie, thanks for starting this challenge, too.

Sum38 04-26-2013 10:28 AM

A little over 1/2 of us filled their weigh in for the week. Good job ladies! Stay on path! -- The rest, please pop in and add your stats.

:cheer: Short shorts and tiny tees; here we come :cheer:

Agreed :)

(and you REALLY don't want me in short shorts OR tiny tees even when I hit goal. Not so much because of the folds of loose skin that an elephant would be jealous of that I am sure to have, but because of the blinding white skin that hasn't seen sunlight in 10+ years!)

Delphi 04-26-2013 12:24 PM

zoesmom ~ You are hilarious! So glad you are off to a great start today. I think that always does help make the day a little brighter as well. Are you going to the gym today?

sum38 ~ Oh how I wish. I just miss tight tanktops and jeans. But I'm totally up for some short shorts, especially on vacation.

alinnell ~ Good luck with the tournament today. it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm sure it will be difficult with the food but I'm sure you will get through it just fine. :congrat: on the loss to! Good job! Any loss is not a gain, so kudos!

Well so far so good today. Trying to relax but there is always so much to do around the house. Guess I'll go fish that hotwheel out of the toilet. Oh joy!

Whoever fixed the top 10 %-wise for the 1st week page on 4th of July Challenge spreadsheet- I thank you!!!!! Congrats, JustB1027- 25% towards your goal! How wonderful!!! The remainder of the top 10 for the most % is- Saggzz, 2fat2jump, NathalieMargareta, Jennifer1966, SuperHeroTeacher, Changergirl, Delphi, Wolfgirl69 and Zoesmom!! Congratulations, guys for being in the top 10 %-wise this week!

I also congratulate everyone else that is still working at it with losses or not! That is the real battle, not to give up when you're feeling defeated.

:welcome: Nathalie!

Delphi- Wait until Monday to work out? No wayyyy!! Hahaha! The elliptical trainer is down there. The smell is a lot better this am down there and I think I will go ahead and open both windows, I forgot we have small windows down there, thanks for the reminder! :) I will also have 2 fans down there, one towards the steps/door to upstairs and one towards me, I will be only staying there for an hour max to work out then get outta there. Re: your race- I would be such a bundle of nerves too!! 195 and 5'8, I doubt you've got a big butt but I totally understand the fat girl complex, I think a lot of us have that too!! You got this, you have been training since January! I am a little envious too! Be sure to get some rest (if you're able to, lol) before since it sounds like it's gonna be a looooong day!

Zoesmom- That sucks!! I giggled when you said why do they have to make them so tight?! Well, so your tire can stay on! :D You're awesome for changing it out. I actually would have called the BF or my bro to come. Now that I think of it, I don't even think I have a jack in my trunk?! Yikes. Pasta sauce over veggies was more calories? WTH? They must have doused the pasta sauce and veggies in oil/butter or something. That EAS shake with black coffee sounds REALLY good!!! I love lattes! :swoon: Glad you didn't let yesterday's fiasco pull you down! Happy Friday to you too, hon!

Alinnell- Congrats on your loss, that was 5% towards your goal! Yikes, I'd be asking for a boatload or two of willpower too! I absolutely love BWW (acid-reflux be damned)! Good luck with the golfing (sounds like fun) and food/drink! You can do it!

Frieden- Anytime!!! Have a great weekend!

Sum38- Tiny tees, sure!!! Short shorts? Ahhh, I dunno about that with my legs. I swear I have thick tree trunk legs (pear-shaped gal here.)

Not doing much today/tonight- laundry and working out. Pretty cold out today so I'm thinking of making some sort of soup (likely potato, bacon, some cauliflower and sauteed onions since it's easy!) Have a great weekend, all!!

Delphi 04-26-2013 01:44 PM

Just wondering if there are any of you guys that loathe cooking and/or just do not cook at all. My BIGGEST problem with weight loss is food, mainly because I hate cooking. I could really use some help on this front.

amandie 04-26-2013 02:11 PM

Aw, Delphi. I personally love to cook but totally loathe the clean-up afterwards, lol. Maybe look for easy one-dish/pot casserole-types? Crockpot meals? The type of meals/recipes where you just throw it all in, stir then bake/cook are my faves.

You can just roast veggies and meat as well as potatoes/starches in the oven. I have done all of the above in one dish to cut back on the clean up a couple of times before with fish and chicken- cut up potatoes and veggies, toss in some herbs/spices and olive oil, put greased baking dish then seasoned/flavored meat on top. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 20 minutes then last 10 without foil.

I love this recipe for easy brown rice- no standing over the stove and stirring, etc and frankly, my rice cooker always scorches the bottom and I end up with some really hard crunchy rice, not cool.

Hope that helps somewhat??

zoesmom 04-26-2013 04:36 PM

wolfgirl - I agree that amandie is pretty awesome. And kudos for being a top tenner

Delphi - I LOVE cooking, but like amandie, I hate the clean up. But my biggest downfall is baking as I am a cake baker/decorator hobbyist so I ALWAYS have some kind of treat sitting around. I've gotten smart about it though, I only make cakes that I intend to give away now, and if I have a new recipe I want to try, I only make one mini cupcake. Much better than the alternative!

amandie - that would be me who fixed the spreadsheet. I wanted to do more, but wasn't sure if I was stepping on toes so stopped. I am an Excel junkie and love tooling around in various spreadsheets. The tire sucked...but hubby was stuck a good 2 hours away and kiddo was hungry. So, mom's gotta do what a mom has to do. I managed. And yeah...I was over my calorie budget by I guess 200 calories or so. When I got home, I looked up the values and was SHOCKED by it. And then of course, I had to guesstimate how much I had. I likely over guessed, but I would rather do that than under guess. All in all, nothing a little cardio can't fix. And yes. The EAS Latte. The hardest part of counting calories was giving my daily latte up. I am SO glad I have an alternative to that and it doesn't taste like complete poop.

Too touch on a subject from a couple days ago and gyms....

I didn't go to the gym today, but I went jogging around my apartment complex several times. Now, I am quite proud of what I have accomplished. Last August, I dang near died due to severe lung issues, was diagnosed with ARDS, has severe asthma, was an on O2 tank for what felt like forever, and I was only 29. I am determined to not live through that again, because next time, I just might not. Anyways, I've come a long way. Lost a good chunk of weight, have a lot more to go. Went from not being able to walk up my stairs to actively jogging for close to an hour. I mean, it might be a lot, but to me, it is. I hated life 8 months ago. Now, I want ever second to count.

Anyways, one of the reasons I hate going to the gym alone is the fear of public ridicule. But, I made good on a deal and I have done it once this week...plan to go more, but work in progress. I have went a few times with hubby, but only once alone. BUT... I started jogging this week to try and get used to being in public eye by myself.

I went out this afternoon even. I made a few laps around our entire complex, just now getting back. Douche Bag McGee is SITTING on his tailgate every time I pass him. You know the kind...the one that genetics favored in the looks department but apparently forgot about the brains. Anyways, I pass him once and he hollers out, "RUN, FORREST, RUN!" I ignore him. Whatever. Second time, he is still there. Third time he hollers out, "DAMN FATTY! YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN TO QUIT, DO YA?!"

Yeah. He can rot. I mean, seriously. He can rot. Not only can he rot, he do us all a favor and quit breathing.

I hate people sometimes.

(Disclaimer...he did NOT hurt my feelings or my pride. He just ROYALLY pissed me off as there are numerous folks who are overweight/obese that fear exercising because of public ridicule from jerk offs like that guy. I know. I USED to be one of them and still, in a way am.)

amandie 04-26-2013 05:06 PM

Zoesmom- Nah, not stepping on any toes here! I appreciate ANY help I can get! I am not excel-savvy at all, lol! 200 cals over isn't too bad and like you said, just a little bit of cardio will burn that off or eating a little less over the few days (50 cals less over 4 days would do the trick, etc.)

doucebagmcgee (not worthy of caps here at all) can just go and stop breathing. Man, this is one of these times that I'm happy I'm deaf so I don't have to hear any of that crap from others. Although, it does make me wonder if people have yelled out stupid stuff like that to me over the years and I just didn't hear it. I'm glad you didn't let him get to you personally and definitely, it is because of people like him that we (overweight/obese) are afraid to work out in public. Now, I would be veryveryvery surprised if anyone tried that crap in a gym full of other people. I would embarrass the heck out of them very LOUDLY- like "WOW did you just really say that to me?!", etc, lol. You can trust me on that one! You.Are.AWESOME.

Jennifer1966 04-26-2013 05:25 PM

Great job, everyone! I love looking at the spreadsheet and seeing how awesomely everyone is doing!

Sum: Count me in on the short shorts and tiny tees! All part of our plan to regain babedom, right;)

Really sorry I missed your post and that I made you feel anything but by not responding.

I seriously HATE cooking. My best friend is an amazing cook, and I don't mind being her assistant, but having to organize and cook a meal on my own seriously stresses me out.

SERIOUSLY??? douchebagmcgee needs a serious dose of Karma... Good for you for not letting him get to you!

Everyone - well done on week 1! I hope everyone has a fantastic, on-plan weekend!

After my Medifast session tomorrow we are meeting with my daughter's college financial advisor/counselor and I'm seriously freaked out about it. The $$$ of college is freaking insane. I thought my state university education was expensive... My kid had to go and be a genius and is looking at Stanford, CalTech, and the like... Her college education may cost more than our house. :?: Plus, this is the child that while she was gone to summer camp the first time I couldn't get out of bed the entire week. :( I'm predicting the fall of 2015 is going to be ****. I wish I could just not worry about it until the time comes, but that's easier said than done.

I dont cook at all ! I would love too try and learn but i live in a studio apartment that only offers a minifridge, small amount of counter space, 2 electric burners and no oven. so i tend to eat alot of healthy take out and those lean cuisine and smart ones meals. also I suppliment them with fresh veggies and fruit whenever i can .i know everyone says they are bad but i've lost over 150 pounds using them. its not a diet its a lifestyle change and you gotta do what works for you. sadly for me cooking just isnt an option

I'm another who really loves to cook. Last year, DH and I did Nutrisystem (which I was pretty impressed with the quality of most of the food) so I didn't get to cook which was sort of a drag. I'm loving that I'm cooking again except my dishwasher broke and now I have to do dishes by hand and I HATE that!

Here's an easy, good recipe that you can easily change depending on how many you're serving.

Take 1 boneless chicken breast per person (frozen is fine)
Put it on a lipped pan that you've spritzed with Pam (I cover my pan with aluminum foil for easier clean up)
Place 1-2 T of salsa on top of the chicken
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes
Remove, put a little cheese (Mexican blend or whatever) on top
Put back in the oven for 5 minutes
Serve!

I survived the golf tournament! I didn't survive the food. I didn't eat it all but I did sample some of the bad stuff. Oh, and all that free beer and booze. Yeah, went a little overboard. We came in at 2 over par so we're pretty happy about that and I was the only one that birdied a putt for our team!

Weight unchanged from yesterday, so not all bad.

If it is not too late, I would like to join the challenge.
