SARGE'S COOTIE FREE HAPPY PLACE INTERACTIVE PLAYROOM!!!!!!
I joined 3FC seriously on 1/1/11, have lost 68 lbs./30%, and have assembled a platoon, a group who gives 110% every day to achieving their weight loss goal. Some of the ladies nicknamed me Sarge, so Sarge it is!
--Please join if you're serious about dropping pounds and melting your "BUTT-er" (that's a salute to Private MadamGooey).
--Please join if you want daily motivation to achieve your goal. Sarge has plenty of time to keep an eye on you!
--Please join if you want Sarge and the platoon to scream in your face like Jillian Michaels on Biggest Loser because that's what you're gonna get if you don't meet your goal each week!
--Please join if you understand the definition of challenge, "...a call to engage in a contest, fight, or competition," THIS IS YOUR LIFE YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR!
--DON'T join if you're gonna bring excuses!
--DON'T join if you're a daily scale watcher or only looking for company to share details about your daily life, pets, cra*py job, and other pity-party themes.
--DON'T join if your head isn't in it yet. We'll be here to embrace you with well-toned arms when you're ready.
--DON'T join if you're overly sensitive to comments like "step away from the buffet!"
--DON'T join if you want to discuss anything other than get this freaking weight off of me! Sarge is type A personality. Excuses and reading touchy-feely stuff makes Sarge's eyes bleed! There are many other threads on 3FC that offer loads of "soft" support and make you feel it's ok to slack on your weight loss efforts. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE THREADS!
RULES: IT'S EASY! Simply make Sarge a promise each Sunday by posting a pledge to lose a certain number of pounds the following week then DO IT! New Privates encouraged to join any Sunday!
Newbie posts should look like this: Hi Sarge, I'm new! I promise to lose ___ pounds next week!
ALL ARE WELCOME (including men)...any age, any amount of weight to lose. Say "Yes, Count Me In Sarge!" Do it, you know you want to, then drop and give me 20 minutes of exercise!
Sarge

PLATOON NUTRITION:
Disclaimer: Sarge is not a doctor, a nutritionist, or personal trainer with any sort of real medical knowledge. Additionally, it is not my intention to poke fun at our armed forces. I salute the men & women protecting our country.
For those new to our Platoon Trek, we left base camp on 5/15/2011...
Leg 1: Trek Across America via American Discovery Trail: 5,048 miles Mission Complete
(Here's the link so you can think about how far each of you has trekked individually: http://walking.about.com/cs/beginner...walkingadt.htm
This leg completed on 8/1/2011 by 32 members contributing miles.
Leg 2: On 8/7/2011 22 platoon members left the Golden Gate Bridge headed to Osaka, Japan.
Here's the current course:
Golden Gate Bridge across Pacific Ocean to Osaka, Japan (5372.218 miles) -- 4,457.92 complete
Oasaka to Great Wall of China (1565.896)
Great Wall to Great Pyramids in Egypt (4298.751)
Pyramids to The Coloseum in Italy (1323.483)
Italy to Barcelona, Spain (1323.483)
Barcelona across the Atlantic back to Delaware, our starting point in Trek America (3966.18) for a grand total = 24,625 miles.
This is Black Ops troops…there will be no rule bending on this challenge.
--Basic rules: Sunday weigh-ins by 12 midnight (central time) / Thursday morning final elimination for player on bubble.
--To avoid elimination you MUST POST WEIGH-IN on SUNDAYS BY 12Midnight Central Time. If the time stamp of your post is later than 12Midnight that you are automatically eliminated. You CAN weigh in early!
--The player with the lowest % of weight loss on Sunday will be up for elimination UNLESS their % loss is better than the player being eliminated on the NBC Show which airs Tuesday nights.
However, on this thread, PLEASE DO NOT discuss the BL show until Thursday mornings for those of us who record it to watch without commercials and/or during workouts OFF THE SOFA!!! If you want to discuss the show in advance of Thursday morning, please chat on the 3FC thread at: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/bigg...you-ready.html
Or as Jeanettey suggested put a big, fat SPOILER ALERT at the top of your post.
--Since Black Ops is a side challenge, Sarge would prefer people to continue pledging and setting goals for themselves each week. The whole pledging concept is the one thing that makes Sarge’s Boot Camp unique on 3FC and I think continuing to pledge is fair to platoon members who are rooting for us but not participating in the challenge. If you don’t care to pledge or are near goal, it still remains perfectly ok to ask to be placed in the maintainers/coffee break zone.
--The players eliminated each week WILL CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE just like the “at home players” on the NBC show. On 12/18 we will crown the ultimate Black Ops Winner & name the “at home” winner who didn’t let a little thing like being eliminated stop them from achieving their holiday goals!
I hope that covers everything. Here again is a list of the players I’ve got on my list as competing. If you’re not on the spread sheet hopefully we’ll get Anon to fix that this week:
Anon--You are a spread sheet goddess!!! I think we're good for now. I went back into past posts to find RMC and PacSun just in case they surface this week. If not, there's a bit of a cushion there in that they will be the first eliminated this week, BUT DON'T COUNT ON THAT TROOPS!!!!
Josey & others -- Keep journaling your miles trekked on the spreadsheet. I just can't keep up with everything anymore and I just take the trekked miles for the week number from that fantastical, magical spreadsheet. You can even go back and add miles if you hadn't been entering them because each week I go back and add the miles accumulated since 8/7 when we started that leg of our journey.
OK...1 1/2 hrs. on the computer with all this already....MUST HEAD TO GYM!
Oops. my work retreat got me home later than I expected. Sorry about the late weigh-in. Its not good anyway. Gained .98% according to spreadsheet. Blah. I feel like I am really getting fit, but its not showing. But pledging 2 this week (even though I missed pledges)
I am cheering for all you BLACK OPS people!!!! I am not participating, but GO AT IT everyone! Can't wait to see your losses!
Off to class and work all day, then a fabulous run (which I am finally starting to like)!
Sarge, I thought I pledged to lose 2 this week but don't see my name on the list.
Also, had a question. I just started walking this past week and toward the end of the week, had some fluid retention. From what I read here on the thread that's normal. Just wondering how long it lasts.
Sarge - You are doing a **** of a job keeping track of everything and everyone. Truly amazing! I just wanted to add that. We were praising the spreadsheet and Anon a lot lately (which is very deserved!) but I don't think I have thanked you lately for keeping this wild bunch in check. THANK YOU! Incredible job. We should credit you with at least half the success of the platoon.
iamerican - I love the idea of Black Ops Cheerleaders ;-) Thanks for the support!
ennay & envelope - I saw that you are the only platoonies on the blue team. I am cheering for you guys! Make sure you kick some butt!! Otherwise the "red" platoonies might think they are going to win without working extra hard.
Sorry Lisa, Sarge must have missed it with his eyes being so old and all! I'll add you to the list in just a second. Fluid retention won't last long but make a conscious effort to watch your sodium intake as well!
BTW, GOOEY...WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?
Edit: Thanks Josey... may look to hire a new Sarge in the New Year tho... accepting applications soon! :-)
Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you are all as psyched about these motivational challenges as I am. Today I'm re-starting my cross training with Jillian and kicking of my Bridge to 15K program which will go for the next 11 weeks
Day 1 Week 1 is 2.5 miles and a bit of strength training, wish me luck!!
I am excited about Black Ops starting! I set my alarm to wake up in time for a complete core class at my gym and then I will do cardio afterwards. I can't believe that there is a combined starting weight of over 6000 pounds and I can't wait to see how much smaller that number gets. Well I am off to the gym since I also don't want to be the first elimination.
Beauty -- Your 2lb pledge in on the pledge board under the category "newbies", but not on the Black Ops list. Black Ops was too far along last night to continue to add new members...sorry, but had to draw the line someplace...
