  • 2sw33t - Not sure if it's any consolation, but when I started exercising (and I am the type that pushes myself), I went on a 3 week plateau. Here's the good news, as frustrating as that was, I noticed things start to fit differently and then it started to melt off. Your time is coming, keep up the great work and pay attention to the little details - they really do make it seem "not so bad"

Caramel - That 1 Lb is one less you have to lose in the big scheme of things. It's also not a gain, it's a LOSS! You did great to not stop and sometimes we hit slower times...and honestly, once you get lower on the scale the loss slows naturally anyway cause it takes more work to burn the same amount of calories you were doing before. Don't get discouraged and remember.... a pound is a pound... there were many weeks I lost less than a pound... or this week where I haven't lost anything as of yet... but I am still proud as punch cause there is not a + sign in front of what I am reporting
  • I didn't quite do it! I lost 9.5lbs in September. Am I disappointed? No because I'm still 9.5lbs lighter than I was a month ago! Off to the october thread now
  • To say that this month did not end well for me would be an understatement! I got within 0.1 lbs of my goal this month (which was a ~9 lb loss) on 9/23, only to have my weight go up more than FIVE POUNDS since then. I know it's not fat gain, as I am ALWAYS in a substantial calorie deficit, but still - this is making me incredibly frustrated. The only cause I can determine for all this water weight is hormones, due to going off and then back on birth control pills mid-cycle. I really don't care WHAT the cause is though; I just want my body to regulate and get back to normal so that I can lose again!!!

2sw33t: Adding exercise can definitely wreak havoc with the scale, but good for you for getting going on that!! It will certainly help with the weight loss once things equilibrate a bit, and obviously in the long run it will be great for your health. Regarding the stall, something that I have to keep telling myself is that if you're operating in a calorie deficit then you're likely losing even if it's not showing up on the scale just yet. When the scale seems to sit in one place for a long time, that's when you're earning those whooshes that make for super happy weigh-ins. I hope you see yours early in October!

Caramel33: I'm with ItsMyTurn; a lb down is a lb less you weigh today than you did last week, and that is a success! And nice job on the stairs!!

Pickle: 9.5 lbs is fantastic!! Congratulations on such a big loss this month!!

ItsMyTurn: I hope the scale turns out much better for you this morning than it did for me, lol! Great job staying so motivated this month, and thank you for all the encouragement you've provided to me and others.
  • chickadee - I have good news and I have bad news, LOL!!! Good news is I did lose weight this month... bad news, not only did I not lose that last .4 this morning to meet goal, but water retention caused the scale to say evil numbers, LOL... please refer to October's challenge to learn more (you like that cliffhanger? just like a season ending show on tv, lol!!!)
