SheraMama... I was wondering the same thing, I hope DARIUS joins this month :(

I was thinking about you today, about when you said you wish you could be binge free... What if you start planning your binges, which would make it not a binge :) like think of 2 things in each category that you usually binge on... For ex: chocolate, instead fiber one brownie, or smart ones frozen treats.

 if this sounds like something you might think can help or work I'd be happy to help you come up with planned alternatives :)

aleksandra 08-04-2011 01:24 AM

This month I have 3 goals:
1. Work out 4/week (total of 19 workouts)
2. Eat dark chocolate as an alternative to sweets
3. Lose 5 pounds
I really want to stick to the first two, the third is optional - I wouldn't mind losing 5 pounds, but I'm not sure if that's realistic for one month :dizzy:

magicalstasia 08-04-2011 01:36 AM

I'm in!!! A few days in...but I'm still game! My goals are
1. No SODA!
2. 8lbs (167)

JillNicole - I slept, so things are not looking so bad again today. I think I can work in the sandwich, I am going to try real hard. Maybe if I cut it into smaller squares it won't seem like such a chore to get in. Even DH said: that's nuts, how many people hear they need to eat MORE from a nutritionalist. I feel lucky though cause she is assigned to me, so I can bug her as often as I need/want to.. and she still does follow ups with me. Next meeting to "check my progress" will be on the 30th, LOL!

sheramama - you are totally right. It is a complete learning process and wow am I learning a ton, hehehe. I think it frustrated me so much just because of everything else we are trying to deal with right now besides trying to be on plan for my fitness progress

It was so not like me to sound so down, and I am so sorry ya'll had to read that. Thank you JillNicole for reminding me that venting is allowed :) I needed that too. Today is a new day though! Had open house at school for youngest right after work last night - not real organized either.. weird. Today is DD's knee surgery, so I am going into work early, and then leaving a few hours early so I can be there. Keep your fingers crossed for her! Now I have to go get ready for work... and pack a sandwich, lol. I will check in at work though :) Hope you all are having a wonderful day so far!

Darius??? Where are ya??? :D

darius 08-04-2011 07:43 AM

I'm here I will join the August challenge starting Monday the 8th.

jillnicole03 08-04-2011 12:49 PM

:welcome: Aleksandra: I think 5 lbs is definitely realistic in a month ! You can do it!! :cheer2:

:welcome: Magicalstasia: kicking soda to the curb is always a great diet help!! You can do it!! :dust:

ItsMyTurn.. Glad today's a better day for you :) have a great day & pass on through good vibes all our love to DD.

Darius.. You had us scared! Monday the 8th sounds great, the day before my birthday! :)

ItsMyTurn 08-04-2011 01:03 PM

A big ol' WELCOME! to the new folks! :)

JillNicole - Thank you so much! I told her last night that there were folks in this community that were expressing their support for her... she said "that's kind of cool mom...You joined and get support, and now they are supportive of me too!", LOL! Gotta love that little doll! She has the opposite issue of all of us...she has issues gaining weight (totally UNFAMILIAR territory with me, LOL)... but even she is doing well (and had to for surgery)... she went from 71Lbs a year ago... to 105.8 now!!!!! She is totally within the healthy range for her 5'1" height now!!! So doc says no problem with her handling anesthesia now... super yay!!! They will be picking me up here at work in a little over 2 hrs. and she is so anxious and hopeful :)

On a side note: it's totally unofficial cause it's not my "Wednesday weigh in day", but...I weighed in this morning at 208.8!!! If that stays down AND I keep on task for my exercise, there should be no reason to not hit my 2Lbs for the week this week :) Super yay!

jillnicole03 08-04-2011 10:26 PM

ItsMyTurn.. That's cute :) keep up the great work!

Darius: Whoo hoo I was getting worried!

JillNicole: I like the idea of the planned binges/snacks. My worst things are salt and cheese. I am doing better with cheese ( I think it's bc it always filled me up?) since I only have kraft 2% singles for the kids which I hate and light string cheese which I do eat one everyday. 65 cals, 3.5fat, and 8g protein. I could do worse. I was thinking of adding more nuts into my diet. I dunno.

ItsMyTurn: I am crossing my fingers for you daughter!

It's funny bc I wasn't sore at all today after doing the 100 rep challenge. I was bummed as if maybe I didn't do something right. Then I was at the dreaded Walmart with my daughter to get last min things for our mini trip to Philly. I picked up a case of 48 water bottles and holy crap everything hurt at once! It was kinda funny. At least I know I hit all my target muscle groups.

I am kind of worried about this weekend. I hate being away foodwise. And my guy who knows I am watching what I am intaking, decided to buy Smirnoff Blueberry Lemonade. Which I really like. And he knows work has been rough and it will make it that much easier. I'll have to factor the cals in ahead of time I suppose. At least I'll be walking a lot and I can still do those reps. (Though hiding in the bedroom away from everyone)

Have a good weekend and weigh in. I'll prob end of checking in mon :)

jillnicole03 08-05-2011 02:45 AM

SheraMama... I love salt & cheese lol. Something that helps me is allowing myself a certain amount of cheese a day, I like to use feta cheese in an egg white omelet with veggies, the egg makes it very filling but it's still cheesy and seems like cheating. The egg whites are so low cal that I can use more cheese :) for salt you could always make Edamame with sea salt, or popcorn.

TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN EVERYONE :dust:

ItsMyTurn - congratz on the weight loss! :carrot:
I must say I'm really nervous about the weigh in because everytime i feel light, I end up losing no weight :D must say my weightloss speed has slowed down tremendously. At the beginning of my weightloss journey I'd lose 10 pounds in a month, but after a while this stopped and even though I'd do things right I could only lose like 2-5 pounds in a month. I'm not pshing myself with weightloss anymore, because it became an obsession to me (weighted myself a few times a day at a point), so I just try to work out and eat good in order to be healthy and check my weight max. 1/week.
by the way - JillNicole is that you in your avatar? you are SOOO gorgeous!!!!! ;) (am jealous, hehe :D )

RachelAnne 08-05-2011 04:34 AM

I'm going to jump in here, too :)

Goals:
~ Get OUT of the 130's...I'm jumping between 132-134 right now and it's driving me crazy. My goal weight for this month is 126-128, depending on if I stall *crosses fingers*
~ Workout at least 5x a week, even in the midst of moving back to school and dealing with temptation.

aleksandra I know what you mean! I feel like the closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to actually get to your goal. I think some of it for me is that I tend to slack off with the more weight I lose. :dizzy:

jeniansmom 08-05-2011 06:12 AM

8/1/11: 252.2
8/5/11: 249
9/1/11 goal: 242.5

down 3.5 pounds, hoping it sticks, I was down to 249.5 on 7/29 then bounced back up to 252.5 on 8/1.

Water is going ok...not drinking anything else but not getting a full gallon a day.
Tracking food is going great. I made a spreadsheet of all the nutritional values of all the food in the house yesterday. Makes it quicker to plug into my tracking spreadsheet. This led me to cleaning out the fridge (and scrubbing it) and the snack cabinet and the pantry. Just the regular and chest freezers to go. What an eye opener on the sodium content in a lot of foods.
Exercise is going...meh. I did a 10 minute boot camp workout the other day. It was tough. Trying to decide if I can count the fridge scrubbing as my other day of exercise for the week, haha.

Yay for all the buddies in this together. Good luck on your WIs today everyone!
Jen

aleksandra 08-05-2011 07:12 AM

hey jeniansmom!
if boot camp is too much for you, you should try something else. boot camp is pretty extreme - I took it only after I was about 180 and it was extreme to me then.
since I've started my weightloss journey in the 200's, too I suggest to you to start with basic aerobics (not step!), tummy-butt-legs aerobics (we've had this programme in my gym and it was designed for beginners) and pilates.
I think it's a mistake to start right away with extreme stuff even though you are planning a serious weight loss. It is more efficient to start step by step and with easier workout routines at the beginning!
This workout routine was enough to lose 40 pounds for me, but I was really following my plan of 4 workouts per week! maybe that's a good suggestion for you?

Great work, Jen! Did the same back in June (except I didn't clean out the 'fridge until July). Was awfully time consuming at the time, but the food list surely helps to speed up meal planning and portion control now.

Weighed in this morning, and I'm up a pound since Monday. Hmmm...makes me think the miraculous 3lb loss last week was a scale fluke. No worry, will keep trying! Off to workout. All the best wishes for good health and weight loss to all.
