Hey Ladies,
Allison: push mower on a huge yard = a huge workout. Sore at all? Also, you should definitely think of something to reward yourself when you reach the 50 pound mark. That's a huge milestone! Maybe a spa day?? Dance: I love Panera. Of course, just listing calories isn't enough in my opinion. I love their lf chicken noodle soup, but it's full of sodium - there's a ton. I only have their poppyseed salad with chicken. Super good. Well, back still isn't great after the injection. After thinking about it - it's more my hip than back. Jeff thinks that maybe the muscle in my hip is causing the sciatica problem. We'll see. If it's not better in a week, I'm supposed to go to the doc and let him know my progress. Got up early this morning for Jeff's class. He totally kicked my butt. At least there was 3 other people there to help push me. I worked out for an hour and 20 minutes and burned..............over 1000 calories! Couldn't believe it. Felt so good after I was done, such an accomplishment. A year ago, there's no way I would have thought I could do it. Tomorrow is sorta a rest day, cleaning and ripping up my floor. My hubby has been laying down the new tile today and it looks awesome! I'm taking after Dance, and doing a bunch of home improvements. We're getting all new flooring and carpet throughout the house. The flooring was the one thing driving us absolutely nuts because it's just the cheapy floor that the builders put in. It's going to make a huge difference. Anyone else have exciting plans this weekend?? |
Hey girls!
Kind of a blah weekend here - not much exercise and some bored eating. Maddiesmom - hope the home improvement streak is going well - are you holding up with all the disruption to your usual routine? Has the shot started to kick in more? Hope so. Anyone with me for miles today? I'm going to run this morning and again tomorrow night but tomorrow's will be with a work friend (a guy) and I'm nervous about keeping up although it's just a friendly jog. I think it's good for me though because it makes me push harder. Hope you all are doing great! |
Wow, quiet board.
Doing well, food is back on track. I'm trying to avoid the chocolate candy dish 5 feet from my desk. Yesterday was super stressful and I was going to have a piece and I actually stopped myself and said "will that really make me feel better?" I figured it wasn't worth it, so I didn't have it. Yea me! Didn't work out yesterday, too much going on preparing for the new floor in a few weeks. We have a month, but every single weekend is busy until then: B-day party and housewarming on Sat/Sunday, then next weekend is the wedding in DC, the weekend after is Matt's bike trip and then the floor is delievered the weekend after that! Super busy time right now. I am going to work out tonight while Matt is scraping up the floor at home. I told him that I'm going 3 times a week with Jeff, whether he likes it or not. I've made a lofty goal that I would like to be a size 10 by Christmas, my birthday at the latest (1/15/11). I need the motivation to kick my own butt. Also, the shot. Well, it's helped somewhat, but there is still much to be desired. We'll see what happens in the next week - especially with the trip to DC and all the walking I'm doing. Hope everyone else is doing well and checks in. Have a great day! |
maddiesmom - you sound super busy! What kind of floor are you putting in? And what does the dress that you're wearing to the wedding look like?
Doing okay here - bf is a bit moody again, surprise, surprise. I'm having friends over for dinner after a walk in the park tonight so that should be fun. I'm doing that super thin crust pizza from papa murphys and a huge salad, and strawberries for dessert. Am going to try to stick to a small amount of pizza ;) May venture out to Marshall's for some discount shopping at lunch - I'm feeling the need for something fall-ish. What's everyone else up to? |
Dance: Right now we are ripping up old crappy vinyl tile (which is close to impossible to rip up without an act of God) and replacing it with another nicer vinyl tile. We really wanted to do ceramic, but we plan on moving in less than 3 years, so we didn't want to put too much money into it. So, that's through our kitchen, eating area, and 1/2 bath. Then, with the entire 2nd floor, stairs, family and living rooms, we are getting brand new carpet. It is going to be sooooo nice!! Can't wait (but not looking forward to prepping the house for it. talk about a workout!) How did you do with the pizza??
Today was ok food wise. I'm finding I'm hungry all the time, or I'm bored and snacking. I'm snacking on healthy food, but if I'm not hungry, why am I eating? I did buy a box of Crunch n Munch at Walmart today (weakness - went at lunch time and it sounded really good), so I ate a little too much of that. Oh well, it's over. So, my punishment? I went to the gym. It was a 1 on 1 with Jeff (class didn't show up), so it was a circuit, doing as many rounds as I could in 30 minutes. He had all his students from each of his classes do as many as they could and he wrote them down. He appealed to my competitive side, which he knew he could do. So, the most rounds someone did was 17 (at the time, I thought it said 19, so I really pushed myself). How many did I do???? 21! Kicked their butts, even tho I was by myself. Jeff did the workout with me, so he pushed me too. All in all, great workout. Burned almost 700 calories. I'm glad I went - even tho I was totally exhausted. Hope everyone checks in soon. Have a great night! |
Vicky-luckily I wasnt sore after mowing. Have fun with the new flooring. Chris and I are talking about getting new carpet throughout the house. We have green carpet right now and I hate it. Cant wait to see you in your dress for the wedding. Maybe I will try that goal of a size 10 by Christmas with you. I can wear some 12s and 14s right now. Good job with the workout today.
Dance-How did the run go with the coworker? Did you do any bargain shopping? Yesterday was not a good food day for me. I didnt really have dinner, just snacked( I call it grazing, lol) So today I stayed on plan. I had a yummy dinner. Grilled shrimp over roasted garlic brown rice with red and black quinoa, steamed cauliflower and cherry tomatoes. With my mishap yesterday Im still hanging out at 189. I jumped on the trampoline today about 15-20 minutes. Walked 1 mile. Did 1 hour step aerobics on wii. The calorie tracker said I burned 550 cals. Tomorrow I have to watch my niece and nephews in the morning while my sister in law goes to a meeting at 10. Then have to be at the boys house to stay with the 7 y/o at 4pm. His mom and brother are going outta town and she didnt want to take him out of school for 3 days. So I'll be with him except school hours the next 3 days. I emailed Sandy-she has a month to go with the training classes for her new job. She cant access 3fc at work, she was going to load it onto her phone but she is super busy. Talk to everyone soon. I cant believe how small our group has gotten. |
burgundy - I know, we're down to the few and the brave, right? ;) I'm hoping mygrits, staccie, aj, tifftiff and katylil come back to check in. You are a sweetie to help your sis-in-law.
maddiesmom - are you guys using one of those tools that looks like a giant wide spatula on a broom handle? If not, give one a try - they are awesome for scraping up old vinyl. I've done my share of that in the past and it's grim without help. I'm so impressed by your workout - wowza! Decided to walk not run with my buddy tonight and did pretty well with the pizza - two small pieces of thin crust and tons of salad. I'm so glad you guys are still here - and that the others come by when they can. I really think the MAIN reason I've stuck with this for so long is this group - you girls are the best! |
Okay, girls, at the risk of boring you all, I'm going to start posting daily food and exercise again because without it I get sneaky and lazy *hangs head in shame*. So, today b: strawberries and ww cereal, l: chicken panang with broccoli and brown rice, d: rotisserie chicken, green beans, asparagus. Fruit for dessert and snack. I'm going on a lunchtime run (my usual 3 miles) at lunch in a few minutes. There, now I just need to stick to it all, right? I know this is really really bad but part of me occasionally thinks, okay, aren't we done yet? can't we go back to eating whatever we want? I KNOW I can't do that because we've all seen what I looked like when I did and it was SOOO not good ;) But that doesn't seem to permanent shut up the little voice. Do you guys ever get that?
ETA - phew, back from my run so doing okay so far. |
I am still around! And I'm still reading. I'm just not commenting. Cos I'm feeling guilty. It's Freshers Week at my university so I've spent the week basically living at my friends house, going out, drinking lots, eating lots and eating BADLY and no exercise (except for all the dancing at the club!)
But I missed out on my freshers last year so I really wanted to make the most of this years and am not bothering too much. I know I've been a lot better than I would have been last year and I have healthy plans for Monday, but I still feel guilty!!! So yeah. I will be back properly properly on Monday! :) Hope you're all having a good week! |
Katylil - I remember how crazy fun that week was (I spent my junior year of college at the London School of Economics) - it's just a short time and you'll be back in your normal routine soon so I'm sure you're not doing too much damage ;)
I'm struggling with sticking to plan, girls, I do okay all day until the evening and then I lose interest doing what I'm supposed to do. It's probably not helping that my bf has been doing that moody thing and I've been having sort of a pity party for myself sometimes. Yikes - just reading that back, I want turn this around right now!!! Okay, I'll shoot for going for a run when I get home from work as that always kills my appetite, maybe that will help. Hope you guys are doing well... |
Only have a couple minutes, will do personals tomorrow. Gotta go get the 7 y/o old the bus in a few.
Dance-I totally feel you on the "when can I eat whatever I want" thing. I do good all day too and in the evening after dinner my sweet tooth kicks in big time. I keep fruit all the time but I dont go for that. Chris has a box of andes mints in the fridge and I gravitate to those. I only have one or 2 but I dont even want to have those, grrr. Gonna be gone all night to the boys house. Last night til probably wednesday. She has to work the weekend but I think their dad is getting them. If not, she has a backup when I cant so she will have to call her. I have plans, plus could use a break. Talk to you all tomorrow. |
burgundy - hope the overnight goes smoothly and glad you get a break later this week. Do you have fun plans?
Food so far today: b: whole wheat cereal with skim milk snacks: almonds, string cheese, honeycrisp (yum!) apple l: whole grain baguette, panera onion soup (no crouton) d: chicken breast, spinach, tomato and avocado salad I'm going to run when I get home (although it's always hard for me to do that at the end of the day) and am planning on a walk with friends tomorrow. And I will NOT allow myself to become a bump on a log this weekend, no matter what!! And I will probably drive you guys nuts by posting all the time too ;) ETA - Okay, the run didn't happen (kind of saw that coming) but I'll get in extra exercise tomorrow. I made a giant batch of ratatouille tonight so I should have plenty of veggie-filled lo-cal meals for a while. Am also going to bring some over to a friend that's having a hard time. I used to be a baker of sweet things for any possible excuse - now I bring ratatouille, how things change ;) Off to take a bubble bath.... |
Morning, girls!
Plan today is a long walk and b: strawberries, cereal, skim milk, s: plum, almonds, l: ratatouille, chicken, couscous, d: tbd - maybe salmon and salad. What's new with you guys? |
Just a quick note to let you all know I'm alive.
After my workout on Tuesday, things went downhill. Woke up Wednesday morning with numbness in my leg and foot. Went to the ER and they said that it had to do with my sciatica - which I never experienced before. They gave me a lot of drugs and sent me home - no MRI, no xrays, nothing. They put me on bedrest for 3 days. So today I went to my specialist - still can't feel anything below my knee. Specialist said that obviously what they have been doing to treat my symptoms has not helped the bigger problem, so we may have to go the surgery route. He said after a year, I should be getting better, not worse. The back is contibuting to the numbness and my left side is weakening, which isn't a good sign. Had another MRI today, have to go to the specialist again next week (he told me to bring my husband) so we can discuss our options. Looks like he's leaning toward surgery, which honestly scares the crap out of me. Guess we'll see what happens. Obviously, no working out and I'm scared beyond belief. We'll see what the future holds for me. |
Dance-the overnights went pretty smoothly. It was nice just having one. I'll have them again for about 8hrs tomorrow evening/night.
Vicky-so sorry you are having such a rough time. Any change after the bed rest? Let us know how you are. Surgery can be scary but if it will help it can be a good thing. Had a get together at the indian church. Its the 150th anniversary of the church. They had KFC cater and I am happy to say I stayed away from it. I filled my plate from the veggie and fruit trays. But I did have a small slice of banana nut cake that Chris' cousins aunt made. She is a wonderful cook. I did take a walk but only a mile. Its really cold and rainy here today so I didnt want to get soaked. Do not want to get sick. Gonna try to get a workout in before 8. We are going to some friends house for game night. Talk to everyone soon |
maddiesmom -  Oh sweetie - I'm so sorry it's such a tough time - that must be so scary. You are so strong and determined - I know you'll get through this with flying colors but I'm sure it doesn't make the meantime any easier. We'll be thinking about you lots - keep us posted when you can.
|
Thanks ladies.
Bedrest didn't do anything except keep me bored with daytime t.v.! It's strange, the pain in my back isn't bad, but I can't feel my leg from the knee down and I can't feel half my foot. I really don't think bedrest is going to do it. I'm hoping for a simpilar surgery rather than the spine fusion, but we'll see. I'm only worried because now I walk with a limp and I'm traveling to DC for the wedding on Thursday. I'm hoping to see the doc before I leave to see how much time I have before everything gets worse. Not sure if he can give me that timeline. Thanks ladies for everything, I really appreciate your friendships. The hubby doesn't really want to talk about it - I know inside he's scared to death too, but doesn't want to freak me out. I just need to vent and everyone is worried but doesn't want me to know it. I will keep you all posted. |
Such a bummer about the timing with the wedding right around the corner. Will the dr let you be up and about for the wedding? Would a walking stick be helpful? It must be beyond weird to be numb like that. If you do end up needing surgery, think of the shape you're in now vs, say, two years ago and how much quicker your healing process will be because of it and how much less strain you're putting on everything with your skinny self.
Just got back from a run and am cooling down still (around 80 out there - yikes!). I did a cooking binge this morning - toasting and seasoning pepitas (mexican pumpkin seeds), making tortilla soup (sans tortillas)and roasting butternut squash, zucchini and yellow peppers to make sure I have plenty of veggies around this week. It doesn't sound like much now but just washing all the dishes about wore me out ;) |
Good day so far - B: cereal, fruit and skim milk, L: lentil soup, whole wheat pita, apple. Plan for dinner is Chicken, zucchini and asparagus. I'm usually so tired by the time I get home from work but I really should get in some exercise today. Any tips to help me avoid the couch when I get home?
|
Vicky-thats got to be the strangest thing not to be able to feel your leg and foot. Hope you dont have to go thru the spinal fusion. Do you know if you are gonna be able to see the doc before you leave for DC? Are you in pain constantly or does it help to sit?
Dance- I need you to come to my house and do some cooking. I bought some fruits and veggies today. I bought an extra large cabbage. Any recommendations for something to make? Gonna give half of it to my SIL. Do you have stairs at your house? Climb the stairs or do some lunges/squats/jumping jacks. Come on, you can do it;) I need to get a workout in too, so lets do this together. I rented a new wii game, Fitness Fun. Gonna try that out. |
Allison: It hurts to sit for long periods of time, stand for long periods or lay down for long periods. So, I'm constantly up and down. How was the new wii game? I should get some of those myself, we have a wii, but I never use it.
Dance: How is your workout plan going? Running again? As for me, I went to the doctor today and he said that he can't promise that everything will be fine in DC, but he thinks it's highly unlikely, so...looks like we're going. Foot is still really numb and feels like a dead weight. Weakness is getting worse, but what can you do? Pain is only bad if I sit for long periods of time. So.....decision.....I'm having surgery. I'm trying to schedule it for next week, we'll see what happens. Turns out that it's an outpatient surgery, I don't have to have the fusion (thank goodness), so we'll see what happens. I should be good in a few weeks, mostly pain from the surgery itself. That's what's happening in my world. Hope everyone is doing ok. |
Vicky-that stinks there isnt a way for you to get comfortable. The wii game sucked. I thought since it was called fitness fun that I would be doing the fitness moves but its a point and click type game. Glad I only rented it. Dont overdo it in DC. Hopefully you can get your surgery scheduled and start on the road to recovery.
I was so lazy this morning up until about 1pm. Got up and went to lunch with Chris and some friends. Then wanted to come home and get my workout in. So I turned on the wii but couldnt get up enough energy to do the calorie burning exercises. I was only doing the fun ones. So I put on my shoes and started out on a walk. Called my sister while walking and before I knew it, I had gone 2 miles then had to turn around and walk back, so I got 4 miles in today. :carrot: Might do some step aerobics on wii while I watch Biggest Loser. |
burgundy - woohoo for 4 miles - good for you! I've been thinking of buying some audiobooks to walk with when my friends aren't available and running seems like it takes too much energy. Have you ever tried them?
maddiesmom - so, if it's not the fusion, what kind of surgery will it be? Are they pretty sure it will relieve your pain? I hope so. And I hope you will be able to find a way to enjoy your DC trip despite all the distractions. I'm getting in a lot of walks but less runs (we're having a hot week, in the 90s) - I'm hoping to run a bit more when it cools off again. I continue to lose it in the evenings and go off plan. I'm going to the grocery store at lunch today to pick up some more healthy stuff and am headed to a friend's house tonight for a walk in her neighborhood so it should be an okay day. Hope you're doing well! |
Dance-I've never tried audiobooks while walking. Sometimes I remember to take my Ipod or sometimes I will call my mom or sister and talk while I walk. You're having a hot week and we are having a cooler week but its been nice, I can get walks in earlier. I've been doing good with the evenings. I always jump on the wii between 8 and 9 and workout for at least an hour. So that helps me to avoid the kitchen.
Vicky-how is your pain today?? So I am going to try to start my christmas shopping tomorrow if the kids will give me some ideas. If not, they get what I think they want. My niece in AL is easy, shes only 6 and wants anything she sees on tv. My nephews and niece here are undecided(they're 11 and 14) Got a walk in today. Only went 2 miles today, got a later start so it started getting dark on us. Gonna turn the wii on after this. Dance inspired me to get some cooking done for the week. So today I made mini turkey meatloaf, baked zucchini and carrots, and turkey stuffed cabbage and corn on the cob. It'll be nice to just have to warm something up for lunch. Chris wants KFC for dinner tomorrow so I have my healthy options already made. Hope you are all good. |
Thank goodness, it's finally cooling off a bit here (we've been in the 90s for ages). So I can run whenever I want to today! I haven't been getting on the scale for the last two weeks which usually means I know I'm not being good and don't want to confront the reality of it. I'm thinking that if I can stick to plan really well through the weekend that maybe I'll be able to handle getting on the scale again on Monday - yikes.
Here's my food plan - B: cereal with strawberries and skim milk L: pb & low sugar J on whole wheat english muffin, apple D: lean steak, mushrooms, sauteed spinach, half baked potato with ff sour cream Anyone with me for miles today? |
Dance-good luck with the scale on Monday. I was still at 189.0 this morning.
I am having some major munchies tonight. I need to start a workout so I stay out of the kitchen. I wanted to get to 188 tomorrow but I dont know if it will happen. I did walk 2 miles today with my SIL at the park. Wanted to go 2 more when I got home with the dogs but ran out of daylight. I have the boys tomorrow, hopefully I can get a walk in with the 4 y/o. |
Ugh - I decided to get a sneak peak at the scale and it so ain't pretty - I'm back up a few again. I can't seem to stay at 165 - gee, could it be my total lack of discipline? ;)
And I had totally forgotten but we are going to New Orleans for a long weekend starting next Friday so I have a week to look cute in my travel clothes again. Even if I'm not at my lowest, it's really nice to have clothes that are comfortable, cute and flattering for a change. Anyone spent any time in New Orleans? I'm definitely open to ideas. I figure we'll be walking our feet off every day so I doubt I'll have trouble burning off what I eat. burgundy - how did you do with the munchies? |
Dance-you'll get back to 165. Sounds like a fun weekend you have coming up. I have never been to New Orleans. At least you can get lots of walks in.
I kinda slacked yesterday. The wii said I only burned 166 cals. I was just so tired when I got home at 730. Had the boys all day. I know why, TOM showed up this morning. So I worked hard today and took a walk. It was so cold out though. Only 48 degrees, bbrrrrr, too early to be that cold. I added all the calories that were burned on the wii and walks and I am at 2500 today. I was hoping to be at 3500 tomorrow. Dont know if I can burn 1000 tomorrow. Im really gonna try. Want to try to get in a 4 mile walk. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. |
Hello ladies!
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here. I've been guiltily (is that the right word?) reading you all being on track and exercising and felt really bad about being so bad these past 2 weeks. But I went food shopping the other day and stocked up on loads of canned soup and veggies (I can never get through all my fresh stuff before it goes off so I've started to just buy loads of different types of frozen) and chicken breasts and cans of tuna and fish steaks and grapes and low cal yoghurts. I had a boiled egg and two pieces of toast with marmite for breakfast, just had a can of tomato soup and a ton of grapes for lunch and I'm planning on a chicken stirfry for dinner so hopefully I'm back in business! :) I've managed to work my way back up to 151 thanks to the last 2 weeks (because basically my diet consisted of toast, noodles, pizza and every type of junk food imaginable plus alcohol) so I'm hoping to be back to ticker by the 15th of October which is when my mum is coming over to visit. Maddiesmom: Ouch. Really bad times. I hope the surgery goes well and that you start to feel better soon! :) Burgundy: I feel ya on the 48 degree thing (I had to look up the equivalent in celsius on my google unit converter!) as we're having the same! Plus it's raining ALL the time. Really takes away and feeling of going for a run, all I want to do is stay in, cuddle up with a blanket and my laptop and eat hot food! Well done on the 2500 by the way! I'm sure you can get the 1000 in no problem :) Dancer: Oh wow New Orleans. That's gonne be amazing! :) I'd love to go there one day. There's so many places I want to visit!!! I'll bet the exercise you'll get from walking around all day will be brilliant too!! :) Hope you're all having a good weekend! |
Hey girls - got in a good run yesterday but my knee is achy today so I should probably give it a day off, maybe just a long walk later.
Hope you're doing well - I'll come back and post more later... |
Katy-glad you came and updated us and now that you are back on track you can get back to ticker weight.
Dance-hope your knee feels better. We've had a lazy day. Just laid in bed and watched a movie, Death at a Funeral. It was pretty funny. I have to get a walk in today. Probably wont be able to walk tomorrow. Im gonna have both the boys, plus my cousins 2 month old. The scale was nice to me this morning. I am at 188.6!!! 2 more lbs to 50. Gotta think of a good reward. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. |
Well done Burgundy! :D Congratulations that is brilliant! Death at a Funeral is hilarious. I remember randomly picking it to watch with some friends a coupel of years ago. It was so NOT what we were expecting!
Hope your knee feels better Dancer! :) |
Hey girls! Sooo not in the mood to buckle down and work today so I thought I would see what everyone's up to.
katylil - sounds like you're all stocked up with healthy stuff - good for you! burgundy - I love those lazy days - glad you had a good one. I haven't gotten my exercise in yet today - am thinking a run later as my knee seems to be back to normal. I'm still a few pounds above ticker so I really need to buckle down so I fit well in my clothes for our trip this weekend. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get all the way down to goal then I remember that 165 was my initial goal. Somehow that makes me feel a little better ;) Silliness. Hope you all are having a great day... |
Thanks katylil. How is it going this week?
Dance-it was so nice to have a lazy day. Havent done that in a while. I remember you having your goal as 165 so I say you are doing great. Took a short walk with some friends today. Might get another one in in a little while. I have the boys from 1-midnight tomorrow. Planning on taking them and their bikes to a park so I can walk and they can ride and play. That means I have to clean the backseat of Chris' truck out, their bikes wont fit in my trunk. Nothing exciting happening here this week. How is everyone else?? |
Hi ladies,
I'm back from DC and am glad to be home! It was a crazy whirlwind of a week, but I know I walked a ton of miles when I was there (probably not a great thing seeing that my leg is still numb). I fought through it and had fun with my hubby and daughter....check out the pics on FB and you can see the dress, etc. I actually had a great time and wasn't too self concious about how I looked in my dress. Probably the best I've felt dressed up in a long time. Just wanted to give you all a quick note to know I was back. I'm really going to catch up and do more personal stuff later - I promise! I have surgery tomorrow morning - met with the doc and found via the MRI that a piece of bone is pushing on my nerve, which is causing the numbness and pain. They are going to remove it and I may be doing PT for a couple of weeks to bring the strength back in my left side. Still very week on that side and the numbness is still there - but may not go away for a couple of weeks or months! Ick. I will be done with surgery by 11 - recovery until 2:00. Then it's home. They say I should be able to walk around and be back to normal by the end of next week - but I'm taking 2 weeks off to recover. Allison: I did see that you were at 188! CONGRATS! I promise to catch up as soon as this whole thing is over! Talk to you all soon! |
maddiesmom - you look gorgeous in your dress! And I love how you did your hair! So sorry you were continuing to struggle with the numbness thing - what a trooper you are. Best of luck tomorrow - we'll all be wishing you a quick recovery.
|
Dance: Thanks! The dress was the only one I could find that I liked and had sleeves - everything seems to be sleeveless and I still need more work on my arms before I show them off. :) Thanks for the compliments. I found a new hairdresser who is amazing and helped me find that style. I really like it. How is your knee doing?
Surgery went well - very nervous though. Doc came in and told me what was going on and of course that scares the crap out of you. After surgery, I just couldn't warm up - ended up with heated blankets. Doctor said he removed a pretty big piece of bone that I guess had broken off, so at least there was a reason for all this pain. They removed the herniation as well. I was out of the hospital by 1:15 and took an awesome nap on the couch. I have a super sore throat from the breathing tube they used and it will be sore for a couple more days. I'm able to walk around, up and down the stairs, just fine. Just getting up and down is a little sensitive. All in all, I feel good. My hubby has been great and his boss told him to work from home tomorrow and Monday, so I have someone here. So I'm taking it easy for now. Hope everyone is well! Got weighed at the doctor - 196 - not too bad considering I ate Olive Garden and Pizza yesterday (hey, figured it was my last meal before surgery so I splurged - when this is over, it's back to working out!) |
Vicky-glad your surgery went well. You've got to be sore. Is the numbness going away now? Glad your hubby is taking good care of you. Take it easy for a few days.
I've been walking some but not as much as I want to the last few days. There is a 5k walk coming up on the 16th. I am gonna do it. Looking for someone to do it with me. Im gonna ask my sister in law but I dont think she will. Gonna ask a few friends. Its a walk to stop domestic violence so I would like to get as many people as I can to walk. I was bad yesterday and has chinese for lunch so today my weight was 190. I know its from sodium so I have been downing water today. Hopefully Im back down to 188 in the next few days. Sandy sent me a msg. She is done with training and is now in the Academy, she said its more training but easier than what shes been doing. Hopefully she has more time soon and can check in. Enjoy your weekend!! |
Allison: The numbness hasn't gone away yet, it's going to take awhile - doc said maybe months, but we'll see. He may have me go through physical therapy to help strengthen my left side. We'll see what he says at my 2 week check up. Pain isn't too bad - thanks to pain meds and rest. I can walk ok, sit ok, and lay down ok, it's the transitions that hurt.
Watching what I eat so I can get back into shape. I have to say, it's a good thing that I was working out before this happened. I am using my leg muscles a lot more, so thanks to Jeff for making me do all those squats! I'm sure the healing process would be a lot slower if I were 80 pounds heavier. Taking it easy for the next week - next Saturday we get our new carpet, so I'm hoping I'll be ok enough to help Matt a little bit. Don't want to over do it and hurt myself though. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Get out there and get some miles in for me! :) |
Vicky-glad your pain is tolerable. Hope everything starts feeling better soon. Dont overdo it if you dont feel up to it when the carpet comes in.
Walked 4 miles today and registered for the 5k. Its a walk not a run but thats ok. Im not a good runner. Having a hard time getting anyone to commit to walking it with me. Everyone has an excuse, but I told Chris, with or without someone to walk it with, I am doing it. Theres another one the following weekend. I might do it too. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend. |
