Holy cow - at 165 today! What a nice way to start a holiday weekend! (I'm taking today and tomorrow off)

Dance-I am so happy for you. I am trying to stay away from the scale for a few days. I was getting obsessive again. I'm hoping for 191 by labor day. I'm in on miles today. I walked 2 yesterday and did an hour with wii fit. It said I burned 450 calories yesterday. Hope its pretty accurate.

Hi Ladies, (head hung low) sorry I've been MIA...
Life has a way of getting away from me lately. Work has been crazy, as someone is leaving and i'm helping to pick up the extra work. Plus, someone else may be leaving the dept and I really want his job, so I have to prep for that to. Homelife, just as crazy. Not working out, I have been arp'ing though. I had a treatment just the other day. I'm thinking that no matter how much I ARP, it's not going to help 100%, as I do have a legitimate back issue that can't be cured by it. So, I went to see my spine specialist and..........I have to have another steroid injection. I go next Friday. I'm hoping this is the end of it - I'm really sick of the pain. My eating has reflected how fed up I am - I've been eating crap and I can't work out since the pain is in my hip and back, which drives pretty much everything. So, I'm just frustrated because I wanted to look awesome for the SIL's wedding in a month. I just have to gain focus again, and I'm not sure how when I'm in pain. On the brighter side... Dance! Congrats on 165! You rock!!!!!!!!! So happy for you. Burgundy: Did you get your miles in? How is everything? Thanks for stalking me on FB, glad to hear from you and get me back on the board. I'll catch up with everyone else later - just a lot going on at home. I'm taking after Dance and doing home improvement. The hubby and I are replacing the vinyl tile in our kitchen/eating area which is a big job and putting down new flooring. Guess my Labor day is full of hard labor! |
maddiesmom - so good to hear from you! Sorry it's such a tough time - pain is just the worst. And no worries about being away for a bit - we all go through phases. But (with lots of love and support) *STEP* *AWAY* *FROM* *THE* *JUNK* *FOOD* - or whatever it is you're eating that you know you shouldn't. Even if you can't workout for a while, you will feel so much better about yourself if you go back to your eating plan. Emotional stresses and tough times really test our ability to stick to weight loss plans but you've worked so hard for so long to even take tiny steps backwards now, especially right before that wedding that you will be so gorgeous at. I hope the injection is helpful and gives you some relief. Lots of luck with the flooring project - that's tough stuff to tackle yourselves with a little one and a back problem to boot!

Ugh - not feeling so hot today - kind of achy like when you have a fever although I don't think I have a temperature. Bummer - I have so much to do to get ready for our guests - I guess some of it won't get done :(

Vicky-so glad you came back but so sorry you are in so much pain. Thats gotta be tough. Hope the injection helps relieve you. We've been thinking of getting new carpet throughout the house. Right now we are still technically renting though, but are buying it in the near future.
Dance-hope you feel better real soon. Relax a little, Im sure the work that needs done can wait. Have fun with your guests. We are having some friends over today and then going to a bbq on Sunday. I couldnt help myself and took a look at the scale this morning and to my surprise I was at 191.6!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy. I was hoping to make it there by Sunday. Now just gotta make sure it sticks. I have chicken to grill and plenty of veggies. SIL is bringing some bad stuff, gonna stay away from all that. Gonna stick to chicken and my fruits and veggies. Have a great Labor Day everyone. |
Still at 191 this morning. SOOOO happy about that. I've been working out the wii the last few days and obviously its working for me. It says I have been burning 500 calories a day.
I spoke too soon about needing a new job. The boys grandma is in Canada for a few months to take care of another grandchild so I will have the boys quite a bit now. Gonna have them later today, Mon, Wed, and Fri, maybe some over the weekend. Gonna try to get a walk in later if it doesnt rain. Gotta be at the boys house at 8 so hopefully the weather cooperates until then. Hope you are all doing well. |

I didnt get a workout in yesterday. My calves are sore from doing the bicycling on wii. So I had a rest day. Still at 191 this morning. Got til tomorrow to make it to 190. I know its probably not gonna happen but it will be soon. Got a BBQ to go to today. Trying to find a healthy recipe. They have a lot of pasta salads and red meat. Gotta throw some fruits and veggies in there. |
Haven't got much time (I'm borrowing my friend's internet for a minute while she gets changed!) but I HAD to post this: I weighed myself when I first arrived at the flat, still at 152. Weghed myself this morning: 149.6!!!!!! I ACTUALLY hit 149!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAARGH!!!! I am OUT of the 150s!!!!!!!!! eeeeeeek!! :D
So ridiculously happy right now!!!!!!!! :D:D:D Glad to see Maddiesmom back and I'll catch up with everything when I get internet which will hoefully be Thursday :) hope you're all having a good weekend!! |

I couldnt help myself, I took a walk and then just because I jumped on the scale and it said 190.6!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am hoping it sticks!!! Gonna eat very sensibly at the BBQ and keep this motivation going. I am gonna reach 189 this week!!! Gonna have to keep gum on me all the time, especially since I will be at the boys house a lot this week. Sometimes I find myself wanting to just eat and eat when I am there. Not gonna do that this week. Gonna climb the flight of stairs from the basement as much as I can while there. Did anyone hear about the earthquake in New Zealand? My sisters house is about 20 miles from the epicenter. Luckily they are ok and no damage to their house or car. She said is was really scary. They got woke up at 430am to that. Walked around 3 miles today and did quite a bit on wii fit. It estimated I burned 603 calories today. Hope you are all having a great holiday weekend. |

It is awesome that we all made it to our goals. I have been working my butt off this week on the wii and walking when it wasnt raining. Gonna stick to this routine. Its obviously working.

(This is going to be long by the way!) I still have no internet (I'm in the uni IT room at the mo) but the rest of life is pretty good so far!! I love my flat and my housemates, we started back at our classes yesterday. A HUGE MEGA WORKOUT. 2 hours of body conditioning - cardio and hardcore toning. It hurts to laugh right now! - followed by 2 hours of non-stop dance (we're learning the routines for our auditions next week so our teacher is pushing us hard to learn it in time!) PLUS the 15 minute walk each way to the theatre and back, not to mention the dancing I did when I went out last night!!! Food-wise I'm so proud of myself! Both my housemates are on weight-loss/healthy eating as well so our flat is completely junk-free. We all have porridge for breakfast, salads or light sandwiches for lunch, and stirfries or weight-watcher ready-meals with extra veggies for dinner. Snacks we have TONS of fruit. We went out last night and were all on vodka and diet cokes. Even our post-night-out munchies were pitta and hummus!!!!!! We've also all started taking these natural Green Tea essence capsules which are apparently supposed to be brilliant for kick-starting metabolism, so we'll see how it goes! :) I've been getting so many compliments off my friends as well :) It's really boosted my confidence to have everyone noticing the change, I feel so much happier with myself and my confidence has improved. Even in my dancing, I felt it was all so much easier yesterday to get the moves down than it was last year which is making me think I can really do this and I've signed up to audition for a lead in this terms course production. Auditions are next week and I'm already nervous! :/ Argh. Sorry this is so long!!! Hopefully we'll have the internet hooked up by next week and I'll be back in business with this thing :) Hope you're all having a good week!!! |
katylil - sounds like things couldn't be better. So glad your flatmates are into eating healthy too - I bet that makes it so much easier. And what a ton of exercise you're getting!
burgundy - what are you doing for exercise today? So I was a lazy bump on a log yesterday after my visitors left and I ate some stuff I shouldn't have but I'm back in the groove today and am planning on a walk after work with a friend and healthy meals. |
Katy-you are gonna kick the 140s butt with all those great workouts. Good luck with your upcoming audition. Thats great your flatmates are on board with the healthy eating, being "junk free" in your house will really help.
Dance-I walked 2 miles and plan on working out with the wii later. Tried to relax some today. Had to go out for dog food and got a couple Halloween decorations. Bought a new shirt at JC Penney. Its a button up shirt and I was sure when I got to the muffin top it would be too small, NOPE, it buttoned all the way with no problem. Its a large and on sale for only 4 bucks. Great deal!!!! Have to go to the boys house tomorrow. Their mom leaves at 4 am and should be home around 630 pm. Long day. The 7 y/o has his first day of school tomorrow but its only a half day. Then I have to do the same hours again on Friday. Hope everyone is having a great start to the week. |
Burned 503 cals between my walk and wii fit. Didnt realize it was so late. Need to pack an over night bag and head to the boys house. Gonna take the boys to the farmers market tomorrow and get some yummy veggies and hope I can find some plums and nectarines.

Got up too late to fit in a run today :( I'm having an attack of the major sleepies - I go to bed early and can't seem to get up early. Oh well, I'm sure it will pass. Having dinner with my bf tonight - lean steaks, sauteed spinach and baby portobello mushrooms, should be yummy. Tomorrow I'll get in another good walk and probably a run on Friday. Katylil - you mentioned another mini-challenge - how about picking a goal for the end of September? End of October seems so far ;) By 9/30, I'm shooting for two more pounds down which would mean 162, the lowest in 9 years I think. What are you guys shooting for in the next few weeks?

Work and home have gotten in the way AGAIN! Sorry about that. Katylil: Sounds like you are in a great place right now - good for you! Your eating is definitely impressive and it's great that your roommates are eating healthy also. They has to be a great motivator. Great job on the weight loss. Allison: I don't know how you do those long days with the boys and still manage to work out. 189 is right around the corner for you! You are doing awesome! Dance: Thanks for the little pep talk - and you were right - I needed to improve my eating to improve my mood. It helped, so thank you! You can do the 2 pounds by the end of the month, you are super woman! How are your knees, etc. holding up with your running? Me? I'm back to eating right. I have a spinal injection on Friday (not sure if I told you all that). Specialist thinks that it will help and as long as I watch my exercising, I think I'll be ok. The doc told me to start working out again, that I should do what is comfortable (which isn't much at this point). I have pain in my lower back and hip, so even walking for long periods of time hurts. Oh well. So last night I went and worked out with Jeff - he customized a workout for me and I have to say, it felt good to be back at the gym. Jeff really doesn't want for me to get the spinal injection, he feels guilty that I hurt myself when I worked out with him. I explained, I have a genetic condition that affects by back, but it is sweet that he cares. Work has been crazy and will continue to be until the end of the year. I'm going to be applying for another position in the next week or so, so wish me luck! I really want this job, so we'll see what happens. That means I'll be even busier, but it's a great opportunity for me. I will definitely have to get on here more to keep me sane. Have a great night ladies! |
Dance-it was a crazy long day. I am so tired. The 7 y/o got woken up by the 4 y/o at 430 and I am not sure he went back to sleep even after I told him it wasnt time to get up. I know I didnt go back to sleep until I knew he was on the bus. Gotta do it again Friday but school is all day instead of a half day like today. Gonna have the 4 y/o tomorrow for a few hours while his parents are in court finalizing the divorce. Then gonna come home and relax(well kinda, I will have to workout) Dinner sounded yummy. I ended up eating a piece of homemade pizza with the boys, but only one. I'll do another challenge with you and Katy. 2 lbs sounds good to me by the end of the month. That will put me at 188.
Vicky-I did part of my workout at the boys house. They have dirtbikes so they have a trail that goes thru the woods around their house so me and the boys walked that loop 3 times(1 mile) Good luck with the injection Friday and I hope it helps. Glad you get to workout again, I bet that feels great just dont over do it. And good luck getting the new position. Walked a mile today and just finished working out on the wii fit. I didnt make it to 500 cals today, but I did burn 250. I am exhausted and just want to go to bed. Glad tomorrow is a short day(hopefully) I had a lean cuisine for lunch today just cos it was quick but I looked at the sodium and it was OUTRAGEOUS!!! I will probably be bloated tomorrow. Hope I dont see a jump on the scale, but I will drink tons of water tomorrow just in case. |
maddiesmom - ouch on the spinal injection - you are a brave girl! I hope it's a big help in managing the pain. Best of luck with the job opportunity - is it with the same company? Glad your eating is back on track.
burgundy - wow, can't believe their divorce is almost finalized - it seemed like yesterday when you said they were having trouble. That's so great that you have the boys exercising with you. How cool that you're on the cusp of a new decade - the 180s will be calling your name in no time! Dinner was great last night as expected - we had tomatoes from my bf's garden too - amazing flavor. I think I may have caught up on sleep last night finally and am trying to get psyched for a marathon of productivity at work. Wish me luck! |
Dance: Yes, the job is in the same company, same department even (HR), just a better development opportunity. It's a management position (managing projects, not people), so I'm hoping to get it. I may have to take some classes, etc. to get there, but I'm willing to put the work in. Great job on eating well and good luck with your marathon of work!
Allison: The fact that you burned those calories after a super long day - WOW! You impress me. Hope you get to relax sometime this week. Enjoy the farmer's market too! Well, the spinal injection is tomorrow - it is pretty painful, but so is the pain I've been dealing with for the past 6 weeks. I've gone through it before, so I know what to expect. Should be interesting to see how it goes the second time around. I'm going to have one last workout with Jeff tonight because I won't be able to work out for a few days after the shot. My arms are still sore after the last workout, but I have to get back into my routine. Hope everyone is having a great day! |
Dance-yep their divorce is done. She said it only took like 10 minutes in court. I was only there an hour today, but thats ok. I will be there all day tomorrow. The 180s are taunting me. I want them to come so bad. Im hoping by Sunday. The boys mom gave me some tomatoes from her garden, they were delicious. Probably have some slices with lunch tomorrow.
Vicky-thanks, but you are the impressive one working out with all the pain you are going through. Good luck with the injection tomorrow. Finally relaxed some tonight. Got a walk in earlier, went with my sil and the kids to a trail near my house. I walked a mile with the dogs before they got there. Then we walked 2 miles together so 3 miles for me today. I did 10 minutes on wii fit so far. Might try to do some more before I head to the boys house. Gonna take the 4 y/o to the park tomorrow and run around with him. Might have him walk the trail at his house with me again. The farmers market was great. I am all set for the week now. Had a roast with carrots and potatoes for dinner tonight. I was thinking about my portion size compared to before I started this journey. Most of the time I would get seconds(sometimes 3rds) Now I have one plate with smaller portions. Plus I am starting to see a difference in the muffin top. I'm gonna try to post some progress pics soon. Everyone have a great Friday. |

Sorry to hear about your injection Maddiesmom but good to see you back on here! :) Dancer: good to hear that you're doing good, I wish I could catch up on sleep! :( I keep waking up at stupid o'clock (which is why I'm on here at 9am, because my housemates are still asleep!)... Burgundy: again, dang you do so well with the exercise!! I was really really bad yesterday. I went out on Thursday night and woke up hungover (ugh). So started off the (terrible) day with toast and peanutbutter, moved on to egg and bacon sandwich for lunch and finished with a big mac meal at mcdonalds (with my girlfriends, who were also very hungover...) ugh. Paying for it this morning though. I haven't eaten junk in so long that apparently it now makes me feel bad! Weigh-in tomorrow so we'll see what the damage is, but I really don't want to stress too much over it, especially as it's only one day in about I-don't-know-how-many. But I won't be doing it again in a hurry!!! Hope you're all having a good weekend! :) |

I am taking the weekend to relax, kid free. Their mom wanted me to keep them tomorrow for 5 hrs cos she wanted to go outta town to party tonight, but had to tell her no. I'll have them 2 or 3 days next week. She told me the other day I should just move in and be the live in nanny and go visit Chris. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont mind a few nights a week over there but not everyday. I would miss Chris, my dogs and MY OWN HOUSE. Didnt get a walk in, right when I was getting ready to go it started raining. So I worked out on the wii. Did Golds Cardio Gym and Wii fit. I burned 400 cals between the 2. Need to step it up. I know what my prob is. I wait til 9 or 10pm to workout and I tire out faster. Need to start doing it earlier on days that I can. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Saw on FB, today was Sandy and Bubbas anniversary. |
Burgundy: Go you for saying no. I was always really bad at saying no to extra work...I'd always feel pressured to say yes and then really really regret doing it! So yay :) Hope you had a good couple of days off!
So I weighed in this morning... 148.8lbs! I'm somehow down 0.8lbs. How? I have no freaking idea. I suppose all my being good at the beginning of the week made up for Friday/yesterday?! Who knows. But my girlfriends and me have decided we need a week off partying before Freshers Week (next week - it's gonna be messy and I am so NOT weighing myself that week...) so we're having this one off. I'm hoping I can lose a pound then, and maintain it during Freshers, before losing the last pound last week of September, bringing me to (possibly) just under 147 for the 30th of September! :) Hope you've all had a good weekend! |
Katy-I really thought about keeping the boys, but she just wanted to party so I had to say no. Only have them 2 days this week(Tue&Thur) Maybe more if she picks up other days. Congrats on 148. Maybe that day off plan jump started your metabolism.
CHECK OUT THE TICKER!!!!!!!!!!! I was finally able to change it this morning. I was POP yesterday, gonna shoot for it again today. Yesterday I walked 4 miles, rode my bike 2 miles and jumped on the trampoline. Gonna do a similar workout today. Our riding lawn mower is on the fritz right now, so my workout for Wednesday is to rent a push mower and tackle this yard. We have a big yard too. That should be fun. I'll have the 4 yr old tomorrow. Hope its nice out so we can run around outside. I have a few errands to run with him. Where is everyone??? |

katylil - way to go on 148! Are you finding that you notice the difference on your body with each pound as you get closer to goal? I haven't been nearly as good as you superstars *hanging head in shame* - kind of a bad weekend for me. I think I've had a low grade virus that seems to come and go or something and sometimes I get achy and headachy and that hit again this weekend. So I did some comfort eating (as if THAT was going to help anything). But that's over and I'm back on the wagon. Plan for today: B: yogurt and berries L: tuna sandwich and apple slices D: tillapia and sauteed spinach And for exercise, I'm going to clean like a mad woman when I get home as I'm having some girlfriends over for dinner after work tomorrow and my cleaning lady has been out of town for a while. Lugging the vacuum cleaner up and down should count for something, right? Hope you all are riding high, celebrating your new numbers! |

Dancer: Thanks! Yeah I am actually reaaally noticing the difference (and so is everyoen else apparently!). My arms especially is where I'm feeling it. Can't wait to keep movin' on down though :) and don't stress too much about comfort eating. Sometimes that's what we need! And sometimes (See my example) a day or two off plan can kickstart things back into gear as well :) hope you feel better today anyway! I just got back from a very long day at the theatre. 2h of Body Conditioning in the morning followed by 3h dance auditions for On The Town (our course term production)...I'm absolutely whacked! And yet I'm now researching 1940's fashion and hairstyles and preparing for tomorrow's singing audition. It's knackering but I love it! :) |
Dance-the last time I was in the 180s was probably high school. It feels great. Hope you are feeling better and cleaning definitely counts as a workout.

so, had a great run this morning and am totally back in the swing of things. Also had a new tree planted in my front yard - it's huge! Looking forward to more shade in years to come. I was too hot from my run to eat breakfast so I'm thinking cereal and strawberries for lunch and I'm having some girlfriends over for dinner - salmon, salad, sauteed spinach and ww couscous, should be yummy.

Meh my singing audition went terrible. I always get so freaking nervous! I'm fine at actual performances, but auditions freak me out. Big time. So me and some of the other girls who didn't do too well ended up going for McDonalds...ugh. Uni life is full of junk food! To make up for it, I had fish and steamed veggeis for dinner. Breakfast was plain porridge. So hopefully the damage aint too bad! :/ Hope you all had a good day! |

Was just reminded that Colorado has the lowest obesity rates in the country. There certainly are some extremely fit folks around but I feel like I see a lot on the other side of the spectrum as well. As you guys have lost weight, have your perceptions of the people around you changed? My normalish sized friends look heavier to me now than they did 30lbs ago - I know it's all relative, but it's weird, don't you think?
maddiesmom - I'll keep my fingers crossed on your shot kicking in soon. You are such a trooper. You will be gorgeous at that wedding whatever happens in the next few weeks - I mean, seriously - you have lost ******80lbs***** - you are a flippin' rockstar of skinny gorgeousness! You know how incredibly rare and special it is to do that without surgery, right? I'm sure everyone at the wedding will be very impressed. katylil - sorry the audition didn't go as well as you'd hoped but I bet you're being harder on yourself than anyone watching was ;) Good job getting right back on the wagon. Am planning on going to belly dance class tonight - I'm mentioning it here to make myself go as I didn't get to bed until late last night and I know I'm not going to feel like going to class once I get home today. Dance: Thanks for the boost! I needed it. I'm happy where I am, don't get me wrong, but I jus feel like I have quite a ways to go and sometimes it's disheartening. Enough of that thought - you're right! I did lose 80 pounds! I found some really cute satin stappy sandals to go with my dress, so cute. It should be a fun time - I'll post pictures after we get back (wedding is 10/2).
My perception of people has totally changed. I'm thinking - wow, that person isn't much smaller than me. I tend to notice people's sizes more. Also, I'm not sure if I'm the only one who does this, but I judge people a lot by what they eat. A friend of mine said I was like a reformed smoker who can't stand the smell anymore. Basically, I have no tolerance for people who say they want to lose weight, yet still go out and eat total crap and refuse to workout. I even do it to strangers that I see eating out. In my head I'm thinking, "wow, should they be eating that?!?" Kinda mean, I know, but after being on this journey, I know it's possible to lose weight with diet and exercise. Wow, a record, I was on here 2 days in a row. :) I'll keep checking in. Have a great night! |
maddiesmom - hey, nice to have you back on the regulars' list! I totally agree with the parallels to someone who has quit smoking - I can't help but have internal opinions about lots of food choices out there. One of my buddies keeps saying she's 'trying' to lose weight but isn't making progress and I keep thinking of someone's sig around here that says 'there is no try - there is just do and do not do' which is really true about weight loss, don't you guys think? If you make a good plan and stick to it 95% of the time, it works.
Just saw yesterday at the panera near my office that they've posted calories for everything on the big menu above where you order - pretty cool. Unbelievable how high some of those counts are but they have some good options too. Off for a run in a bit - what are you guys doing for exercise today? |
Dance-I know, almost to 50lbs. I want to get there so bad. I dont have a reward planned but I should think of something. It has taken me so long to get here, I should celebrate. I find myself comparing myself to a lot of people. I still dont see a big change in myself though. Oh and also Vicky saying she notices what others are eating. I do that too, especially with people I am close with that are wanting to lose weight.
Katy-Im sure your audition wasnt as bad as you think. Vicky-thanks!!! Are you feeling any difference since you had the injection? Cant wait to see your pics. I want to take new progress pic but keep forgetting to charge the camera battery. I was with the boys til 7 this evening and had a headache the majority of the day so I took today as a rest day. I will get back to the grind tomorrow. I'm really trying my best to get to 188 this weekend. We'll see how that goes. I have lots of housework to catch up on. Been with the boys so much when I get home I just want to veg. So I have been. Dont have them again til Monday so that gives me time to get my house in shape. Im gonna have the 7y/o Wed-Fri. His mom and little brother are going out of town and I'll be staying with him. My days will be free from 7-4 while hes in school and on the bus. Hes probably gonna be bummed that he cant go with them so I will have to do something fun with him those nights. I mowed my entire yard with a push mower yesterday, that was quite a workout since we have a large yard. I couldnt do all the backyard cos theres a big beehive back there. We have to get our rider fixed. I wish I knew how many miles I walked. I remembered my pedometer when I was almost done. Im gonna lay down and watch some tv with the hubby. It will probably be an early night for me. Night girls |
Walked about 3 miles today with the pups. Wanted to go around the block for 4 miles but some people on the road over from me said there was a german shepard a few doors down from them that attacked their dog so we turned around.
I was at 189.0 this morning. Fingers crossed for 188 tomorrow. |
