Good morning - I'm checking in :)

I don't feel so good this morning- have a migraine headache. My headaches will usually last between 24- 36 hrs. no matter what I do or don't do :(

I get them sometimes when I go from eating tons of sugary & carb foods to restricting calories.

Believe it or not I've lost 7lbs. since Monday. Pure water weight I'm sure.

I'm going to try & rest today and hopefully wake up tomorrow my cheerful self.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Ms Perception 05-05-2010 10:05 AM

Good morning ladies! I hope everyone is having a fine morning.

susiemartin-That stinks about the headache, but HOLY COW on the weight loss! :dancer: Stay strong and feel better soon!

beaka-Sounds like a great dvd. I have 30DS and was intending to incorporate that into my workouts this month, but I'm gonna have to pass for now. With my other training and DH and I just started playing on the church softball team....I didn't realize that was gonna be such a workout (and working different muscles)! Don't want to overdo it and get injured, ya know? My running is priority #1.

LouisaH and aluxa-Glad to have you join me on the 7 day OP challenge! So far so good here! I'm counting yesterday as day 1, even though Monday was good too. So, here's to day 2!

Shytowngal-Welcome and good to have you with us!

onestar- :drill: You get back on track this moment, young lady! Your health and well-being are too important to be feeding that stuff into your body more than once in a great while. As you know, it only drags you down!

Asynchronous and Lola Dark-Good job on your progress already! Keep doing what you're doing. It's working for ya!

Well, I've lost half my weekend weight and feel good except for the soreness from softball. I haven't played in years but was surprised to feel a touch achy this morning. Guess I'm gettin' old! It's nice to add something like that into my schedule since it's fun exercise. I'm off to my parents' to help do some more potting for her big plant sale next week. She's also doing a garage sale which will mostly be my stuff and I have TONS to mark still. Oh well, it'll get done in good time. Here's to a productive day!

Lola Dark 05-05-2010 11:52 AM

This morning 189.6!
Moving towards that goal!!

LouisaH 05-05-2010 11:55 AM

Woot woot! I reached my second mini goal today--175--only a few days short of my goal date of the 1st. Not bad considering the weekend away.

beaka: thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to check out both of them.

MsP: I'm right on plan and ready for a strong day two!

susiemartin: I've seen migraines first hand, but haven't had them. I know they are no fun though. How it passes quickly!

aluxa 05-05-2010 01:10 PM

Onestar: you are being too hard with yourself. You have not exercised since Friday but you can start again and yes you may be 171 but 171 it is far from your starting weight. Forgive yourself and start again. You should be proud of what you have accomplished so far and kept trying. If you really want to be at your goal, I’m sure that you will do it! :goodluck:

Susiemartin: I’m sorry to read about your headache. I wish you get well soon  Our brain need carbs and fats, I used to have headaches at the beginning of fad diets but when I joined this community and started to eat healthy, I started to lose weight without headaches. :congrat: for your 7 pounds!

Msp: I do not know if it is the weather or your challenge but I have planned my food yesterday and today better than on previous weeks. For me Monday was good too but to choose yesterday as day one we will be “forced” to be focus on how we eat on day more. :goodluck: with the garage sale!

LouisaH: :balloons: :congrat: :balloons: for your second mini goal!!!

eclipse 05-05-2010 02:54 PM

Hi all! I don't really have much to report. I haven't really had a weight change in about a week, which is frustrating. I'm hoping it's just because AF is here. My last few cycles haven't really affected the scale much, but this is the longest and heaviest cycle I've had since I got my IUD in November, so I guess it would make sense for it to affect the scale more than usual. I'm still eating the right calories, though, so it should all work out in the end.

My back is still feeling a little better, but also still hurts a bit. I'm definitely not doing any real excercise until it doesn't hurt at all for a couple of weeks. Until then - stretching and bouncing on the stability ball!

Gamerlady 05-05-2010 03:34 PM

I would like to join please :D

My goal is to be out of the 200s by my birthday (may 31st). I am currently 210

aluxa 05-05-2010 06:16 PM

Eclipse: I’m sorry about your back and about your weight not going down. I found weird that Last week I was having back problems too and I did not lose anything. However, this week my backache has gone and I have not only lost the back pain but also a pound and a half, so I hope that the same will happen to you. :goodluck:

Hopeful8 05-05-2010 09:45 PM

Hey ladies, just checking in. I'm hitting a wall right now w/my weight loss and it's driving me absolutely crazy. I've been hovering at 170.0 for the last 3 weeks and I'm starting to lose my patience. I've introduced Jillian Michaels 30DS in to my workout regimen and I was hoping that would kick start my weight loss, I'm on day 6 and unfortunately I haven't seen a difference. I'm on plan daily and my workouts are very consistent. I'm just trying to push through this dry spell right now. This morning when I weighed in I was up .2lbs from my challenge starting weight of 169.8.

I just had a killer workout at the gym. I did 90mins of cardio and 45mins of weight training. My husband is about to put dinner on the table- Grilled tilapia, steamed asparagus, & brown rice. I'm going to do day 7 of 30DS a little later tonight after my muscles have recovered from my workout today and after my food is digested.

I would give anything to be able to kick start the scale once again.

Scatterheart 05-05-2010 09:58 PM

Jumping in!

My goal for May is to lose 10 pounds total and to start exercising regularly.

I've lost 2 pounds so far this month, only 8 more to go! Although, I guess I wouldn't complain if I lost more. :P

I added the newest challenge members to the goal list!

Today was a good OP day, but after logging my food on fitday I found I didn't get my target amount of fiber. It's the first day I've logged that I've been low on fiber...gotta watch that! More in the a.m. .....good night all!

TracyWay 05-06-2010 12:12 AM

Hey! We are both 5 8 and pretty close in goals! I am probably a bit heavier than you at 179 and I think I have to weigh circa 150 to usually wear a size 8 but it varies. What do you weigh? Do you work out or..?? What is p90x?

TracyWay 05-06-2010 12:16 AM

Can I be on the goal list? I'd love to weigh 169 by May 15. I hope that is not too lofty a goal. 145-165 is my usual acceptable weight range. Just 163, I guess by end of May but 159 would be better.

onestar 05-06-2010 07:57 AM

weigh-in

Starting weight: 170
Week 1: 166.2 (5-6-2010)
Week 2: (5-13-2010)
Week 3: (5-20-2010)
Week 4: (5-27-2010)

i was REALLY surprised when i wieghed in at 166.2 this morning, but i'll take it. havent been exercising but pretty much eating OP. hope to get back into exercising today. it's been a rough week at work. have a good one, all!

Dixiemae 05-06-2010 08:45 AM

Today is a better day. I weighed in at 154.6 finally the scale goddess smiled on me. Back where I started. I have until the 17th to loose a few more. I am going hiking this afternoon. Rain is forecasted for tomorrow so hiking the trail after that will be a muddy proposition after that. I am excited I can go this afternoon. Then I can finish the hike tonight after dinner. YEAH.

Hope everyone is having a good OP day. Let ya all know how the adventure goes.

Ms Perception 05-06-2010 09:06 AM

Another fine morning here on 3FC and I hope you all are doing well. If not, today is a new day and you can make another go of it!

I'm on On Plan (OP) day #3 of 7 and feeling great. My muscles are still sore from Tuesday, but I need to get my run in this afternoon so I'll be taking some Aleve and hoping for the best. This morning I'm off to grocery shop and run errands, so I don't have time for personals, but just wanted to wish everyone a happy, healthy day! Hopefully I can pop in later, if time permits. :)

susiemartin 05-06-2010 09:09 AM

Good morning all :) I'm checking in.

I feel much better today - headache is all gone. Something about removing white sugar from my diet can really set me off. I think it has to do with fluctuating insulin levels.

My plans for the day are a trip to the grocery store for fresh fruit & veggies,an OA meeting, a walk and to work on my wardrobe.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've gained so much weight, so fast this past winter, that I have no decent clothes to wear.

I have been walking around in denial looking like a mess.

I'm starting a wardrobe make over from the inside out. Tuesday I went bra shopping and today I'm going through my sewing patterns and do some planning.

I've got some nice linen fabric for tops & bottoms.
I have to decide what styles will work while I lose weight.

I hate elastic waistbands and drawstrings but I'm thinking they might be sensible and take me through 25lb. loses.

For tops I'm thinking items without strong neckline, shoulder or bust line elements.
I welcome any suggestions for a weight loss wardrobe.

Hope everyone has a great day :carrot:

LouisaH 05-06-2010 10:44 AM

This is looking like a good morning for everyone! No time for personals but I had to check in and say the scale surprised me with 173.8 this morning, down 1.2 from yesterday and down 4 pounds since Monday! Huh? TOM is here and although it feels like he's brought much baggage, he must have invested in the lightweight kind. I'll take it.

Asynchronous 05-06-2010 10:47 AM

Still calorie counting, still at 189 >.< I blame the stress of finals week, I haven't been able to do much other than sit in front of a computer.

Yesterday I was super low on calories, because I was in and out of meetings all day, and they kept running late. My calorie counter had me at 865 for the entire day, and because I Was so busy/stressed I never even really felt hungry.

Oh well, last final is Monday evening, just have to suck it up until then.

eclipse 05-06-2010 11:00 AM

226.8 this morning, back to where I was a week ago. AF seems like she's packing up her bags, so I hope to see a consistent downward movement now. My back is still feeling great. I still feel a little twinge if I'm not careful when I twist (which I'm trying not to do) and a little bit of sciatic pain down my leg at times, but so much better than it's been for months.

Lola Dark 05-06-2010 11:29 AM

188.4 this morning, just when I say I'm losing slowly my body kicks it into high gear...I've lost like half a pound a day 4 days in a row...

Spin yesterday was great!! Going to do it again today!

motivated chickie 05-06-2010 11:37 AM

On plan all week so far. Had sushi for lunch for the first time in months. It was good, but I felt overloaded eating 12 pieces. Then I remember in the old days, I had to have a minimum of 24 pieces and then have ice cream afterward.

Drank 2 beers last night, which was reflected on the scale which said I was down 1.5 pounds to 133.5. It's amazing how dehydrating alcohol is.

Tonight, I must go on a 4 mile run even though it's uncomfortably hot out. I need to stop complaining about exercise in the heat. July is right around the corner. Might as well get used to it.

aluxa 05-06-2010 01:17 PM

Msp: I’m putting more attention to my fiber intake since last week. Fiber is so important and before I started to lose weight I had never put attention to eat. Yesterday, I baked pumpkin all bran muffins (I get the recipe from this community). They fit great on my eating plan, and they may be available for the next day of the OP challenge. :goodluck:

Onestar: :congrat:

Susiemartin: The same happened to me on February, I have gained so much weight that I could not find summer clothes for a trip to Costa Rica. I think that it plus my inability to enjoy a trip to a volcano were responsible for my decision to find a solution to my weight problems. That’s when I find this site.

LouisaH: :congrat: for those 4!!!

Hopeful8 05-06-2010 02:39 PM

Good afternoon all, I got my gym workout in today and just finished L1D8 of 30DS. I was pleasantly surprised that my husband decided to join me today. I wasn't expecting much for his workout, he's had 12 surgeries on his hips and legs because of cancer and 1 leg is quite a bit shorter than the other, but he stuck through it all and did as much as he could so I'm very very proud of him. I'm about to head out to work in a few hours so I just wanted to check in and tell everyone to enjoy this beautiful day and have a wonderful day of working out.

onestar 05-06-2010 11:33 PM

glad everyone is thinking positive today :sunny: ............

so, i finally got my exercise in. it was good. thought my jogging would be kind of well, horrible, because it's been a few days but i did well. the same. i'm tired now. i'm gonna sleep sooo good tonight.

Gamerlady 05-07-2010 08:05 AM

Good morning guys! I took yesterday off to take the kitty cats for their checkup at the vet and I decided to get my check up as well. Did so much walking yesterday then went to my gym at Curves and did the workout there. i was drenched in sweat by the time I got home :D It was great! i am down 2 more pounds, now 208 so 8 more to go woohoo!

Asynchronous 05-07-2010 09:24 AM

Turned in the first of my two papers due yesterday, got on the scale this morning and I'm down 2 LB! It's like a weight has been lifted, literally =)

One more paper due on Monday, wouldn't it be fantastic if turning that one in caused another -2LB? I might just start handing papers in for fun...

Ms Perception 05-07-2010 09:30 AM

Happy day, everyone! Sounds like many of you are already making fantastic progress towards your monthly goal. And I love to hear all the positive thinking and encouragement here! On to personals before the day gets away from me....

DixieMae-How was that hike? Were you able to get it in? Hiking always sounds like such a great activity. Once my landscaping and yard projects aren't so time consuming I've got to add that into my summer activity list! (I know I keep saying that.) It's gotten colder and rainy here, so my outdoors activities are on hold for now.

susiemartin-I'm no seamstress, but, for practical matters, elasticized waistbands do allow quite a range of weight, so you can lose with them and they'll fit you for awhile. I know most of us DON'T want that particular look, but it's functional...until you fit back into your normal clothes and your tops can disguise the waist so it doesn't LOOK like elastic waistbanded stuff. I think v necks and boat necks are most flattering to heavier people, but that's just me. Best of luck making those clothes!

LouisaH-Nice losses! You're doing a great job this month again. I can only assume you're still OP for our 7 day challenge with that incredible progress. Here's to day #4!

Asynchronous-Those low cals might also explain your standstill. You ususally can't dip down that low without the bod going into starvation mode and holding on to every ounce for self-preservation. I'm glad you saw a nice loss, though. Keep handing in those papers! LOL

eclipse-Glad you're still feeling well. You're wise to take it easy, but do what you can to ease into an exercise routine.

aluxa-Yum! I LOVE muffins. In fact, I had a blueberry muffin as part of my breakfast today! I am definitely being more mindful of fiber. My magic solution when I see I'm low after logging supper calories is those FiberPlus bars with 9g of fiber per bar. They fill the gap if I've had a low day or I just need a small, sweet, filling snack.

Hopeful8-How cool that DH joined you! My DH wouldn't even consider 30DS. I'm lucky to get him on a walk right now since work is super busy for him.

Gamerlady-Nice! You'll be in those 100's very soon if you keep losing like this!

It's a little embarassing to admit I'm still working on the weekend weight from last weekend (normally any weekend weight would be long gone, but I really outdid myself! LOL), but I've been OP since then and feel good other than the out of the ordinary aching in my legs the last few days. I decided part of my struggle in February and March was being too embarassed to be honest on here about where I was food-wise and found myself overdoing it with food/calories WAY too often. I figure if I'm more honest on here, I'll be more honest with myself about my need to stay OP, ya know? It seems to be working, so I think it's key for me. Anyway, I'm on day 4 OP and I now know for sure my Mother's Day Brunch/Lunch plans, so I can kind of make accomodations for that in the rest of my day Sunday. Otherwise, I'm all set for another healthy (and busy) day today. I've got quite a to-do list, so I better get on with it...

Dixiemae 05-07-2010 11:15 AM

Ms P~Yes!!!! I got my hike in. I hiked for 2 hours. It stormed most of the early morning. Im glad I was able to get it in before the rain. Best of all I weighed in this morning at 152.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2.4 pounds from goal!!!! Go hiking its the greatest thing for stress relief awesome theraphy

Today is my DD birthday. I want to walk the paved portion of the trail today so I don't get ankle deep in mud. Its a little cooler this morning and my sinus is acting up for it. Any way 152.6. Hopefully I can be 150 on the 18th for my drs apt. that would be the best gift of all.

eclipse 05-07-2010 11:36 AM

Hi girls! Well, even though Aunt Flo is dragging her feet as I kick her out the door, I think the post AF whoosh is starting! I'm down a pound since yesterday, which puts me down a lb for the week. I changed my ticker, and my avatar because I'm not down over SIXTY POUNDS! Unbelievable!

aluxa 05-07-2010 01:08 PM

Hopeful8: it is great to read that your husband joined you! That should be a wonderful motivation for you and for us too!

Eclipse: :balloons: :congrat: :balloons: for your 60!!!!

Asynchronous: :congrat: ang :goodluck: with your papers!

MsP: I also like those FiberPlus bars. :thanks: for the OP challenge. It is working for me because today I achieved my first goal for this month! About what you say about being more honest about food, I agree with you. People that use food journals succeed because food journals help them figuring out what they are doing. If someone cheat in her journal, the journal will not be useful. I think that if we are not honest here we will end believing what we post and cheating more in our plan without noticing

Dixie: :congrat: for your 156.4 and :goodluck: with your DD birthday and with your 150!

My update:
Sw: 167.4
Cw: 164.4
Gw1: 165 (done)
Gw2: 160 (4.4 to go)
WL: 3.4

LouisaH 05-07-2010 01:53 PM

Hiya chicklets. The scale stopped being so generous this morning and put me up .6 pounds, but I'm not surprised considering TOM's here with me. I'm procrastinating doing my work, so I have PLENTY of time for personals. lol.

susiemartin: Elastic waist doesn't have to mean grandma polyester pants. You could put elastic in the back only so the front looks "normal". I sure wish I could sew (well...I wish I could sew well). I have a lot of clothes I would like to take in because I really like them but they no longer fit. No complaints about that though, really! As I'm losing weight, I'm noticing that even if something still fits, it's not necessarily flattering because it's baggy in the wrong areas, so it would be ideal if you could work in some sort of design that has panels that can be removed, or a way to take it in easily as you lose weight (I see it in my artist/designer head, but don't know clothing design). I have some skirts that have buttons and a little tab (? I don't know what to call it) on the waistband as a design element, but there's a second button that can be used to make it tighter (and I'm using those second buttons now, wahoo!).

Lola Dark: That's so fun when your body just gives it up--keep up the good work!

motivated chickie: I am hopeless trying to work out in the heat and humidity--it makes me lightheaded. I can relate on the sushi front too. I just had some for lunch on Saturday and ate only half of what I used to and was uncomfortably full. It's good for our bodies and our wallets!

aluxa: sounds like you're doing well on the 7 day op challenge. I should probably pay more attention to fiber, but I eat granola (homemade, loaded with all goodness) for breakfast, and salad for lunch or dinner--or both--every day, so I think I'm doing fine.

hopeful8: Glad to hear DH joined you. Sounds like a good thing for him to help build strength back--12 surgeries, my oh my. I hope he's recovering well. My husband would sooner poke his eyes out than do an exercise video with me. But he rides his bike to work and has an active job, so that's okay.

onestar: Good for you for getting back to it. Thank goodness you didn't skip it long enough to lose your stamina. Make sure you keep it up--seems like it takes two weeks of exercising to get to the next level up but only two days of not exercising to fall back down a level!

Gamerlady: Good going! I gotta take my cats and myself in for a checkup too...

Asynchronous: Perhaps you could start writing papers for other people and get to your final goal by the end of the month! Good work. I started following my own advice of popping up to do 10 jumping jacks every so often. Did you do it?

MsP: I am doing well staying on plan--even if it is including sweets to appease TOM. My get together with old friends is not happening tomorrow, and DH is out of the country, so it'll be easy for me this weekend. I am right there with you on the accountability thing. I've tried losing weight many times, and the only times I've ever been successful is when I have to be accountable to someone else. In college, I went to the school dietitian to weigh in weekly. After college I exercised with a friend, but then that stopped and up crept the weight. Now, I am staying accountable on this forum, and it works!

Dixiemae: Rock on! You're so close, way to go.

eclipse: Amazing work, go you! Sometimes it seems so hard, but really, it's just a routine like any other. You could feasibly be in onederland by the end of July!

Happy Friday everyone!

susiemartin 05-07-2010 02:02 PM

Hello all - Daily Check In Time :)

Things are going well here. I'm OP and starting to feel not so bloated.

I didn't get to my walk yesterday so today I'm going to try for some heavy duty gardening.

Ms.P -
I think you're right about elastic waistbands :D I suppose anything will look better than what I'm wearing now.

Hope everyone has a good day & a great week-end :carrot:

Hopeful8 05-07-2010 02:15 PM

Ladies it's a beautiful day to exercise! How is everyone doing today? Just a quick check-in before it's time to get ready for work. Just got back from the gym and I got in my 60mins of cardio. No 30DS for me today, I'll do L1D9 tomorrow.

I was trying to take a little nap before work but some guy selling household cleaner interrupted that so I'm a little irritated right now  Anyhoo I hope you all have wonderful day!

tamaraj 05-07-2010 03:30 PM

Well I'm feeling pretty good today I'll admit! I weighed in at lunch at HM and was down to 194.6! That is down three pounds from Wednesday. Just finished TOM so that must be it, but I'LL TAKE IT!

It seems like the more I lose the easier it is to keep going! I really like this program and the accountability factor (I go to the center three times a week) is really doing it for me. I love some of their products as well. The protein bars and snack bars are delish and make it easier to avoid regular chocolate.

So just a quick check in. Everyone is doing really well.

Have a super awesome mother's day weekend!

Tamara

Gamerlady 05-07-2010 03:38 PM

These challenges really do make you think before you eat! I usually treat myself to a cupcake every Friday before i leave work but I had an orange instead... an orange! lol. I have a 100 calorie snack at home I can have, I wont feel deprived leaving the 500 calorie cupcake alone hehe.

Ms. P- Low cals were certainly not intended. Still, I think holding on to every ounce for self preservation sounds exactly like being in grad school ;-p

Aluxa, Thanks for the congrats, and congrats to you on blowing your first May goal outta the water =D

Louisa, I did take your advice, though instead of jumping jacks I got up and did five minutes of Wii Fit Exercises. I'm not sure what it did for my paper, but is certainly worked for keeping my butt moving! And, as much fun as writing papers for others sounds, I think I'll take a pass. I can barely slog through my own >.<

Gamerlady, I know how you feel about suddenly changing your mind set. I love frozen coffee drinks, but after seeing how many calories and sugar they have, most days I'd rather just have water and lots of fruit.

I am down 1.5 lbs. this week. I did not exercise at all this week, so I am happy with that. Since the weather is clearing I am planning on walking to and from work.

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to those who lost.

Happy Mother's day to all of the Mommies

Haven't done a check in on this thread in a few days, but it looks like I'm going to make my May goal of 132 pounds (knock on wood). Actually my goal is to make 132 by May 24, which my last weigh in before vacation.

Today the scale said 134. Ding, ding, ding. Lost 3 pounds this week. And an inch off my waist. I am going to try to stay on plan this weekend and see how things go.

No, let me correct myself... I AM going to stay on plan this weekend.

I am finding it easier to eat right than exercise. In the old days, it was the other way around. I whine every time I go on a run. I'm beginning to believe the saying that eating is the most important aspect of weight loss.

Hope you all have good weekends. Mine is the usual... Socializing, dancing, running, and trying to get myself to do at least some housework. :)
