May Weight Loss Challenge
 
Wow this year is flying by!!

Outdoor activities are now in full swing, not to mention grilling and party season! So, let's make some healthy changes together! I hope to see people returning from earlier monthly Weight Loss Challenges and any newcomers. All are welcome!

Here's how it works: Just state your weight-related or health goal, whether it be a loss in pounds, inches, size, or even an intangible feeling! You need not state your weight if you feel uncomfortable. Though the thread is titled "weight loss" please bear in mind that the overall goal is toward a healthier us and so your goal may not revolve around weight loss, it may be maintenance, eating healthier, and/or kicking a soda habit...whatever the case may be. Fitness and Exercise goals can be listed in our sister thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...challenge.html.

Note: We try to keep a members list with our goals and when goals are met, we highlight it in bold, red print! We love to celebrate with you! However, please don't feel bad if/when you may not reach a specific number, goal, etc. Always remember that making positive changes along the way (the journey) are wonderful accomplishments in and of themselves.

Monthly weight loss challenge FAQ's:

Do we weigh-in on a certain day and how frequently?
No, we don't have a specific WI day. When and how often we weigh-in is a personal matter and specific to each of our own indivual needs.

Do we need to post personals?
Absolutely not. Some do and some don't . If you don't have time for personals it's okay.....please post anyway.

Is everyone on a specific plan?
We are all on various plans. Some do WW, South Beach, our own plans, etc., though we do believe in and follow the guideline of not going below 1,200 cals a day.

What day do we count our loss, the last day of the month or the first of the following month?
Either way.

You can join at any point in the month, so let the challenge begin!

Okay my May goals are simple...

1. Reach goal :D (129) and stay in maintenance range (125-129)

2. Take my multivitamin (a goal that sounds easy, but isn't for me)

1. My first goal is to reach 166 pounds or 74 kgs by may 15, and hopefully 162 by the end of may

2. Start my p90x

3. Fit comfortably in my size 8 jeans

Alright I am going to set a lofty goal of ten pounds lost in the month of May! I'll add my start weight on the first. Also I want to do better about avoiding processed foods. Been doing too much chips and cheesy crackers the last few days.

So I am adding a more concrete challenge to my avoidance of processed foods. May will be snacky junk food free month. I need to do this. Not to say I won't eat chips or crackers for the rest of my life. But they are my binge go too food. And I can say "I will not eat them today", and I will try to do that everyday for the month of May. If I fail, one day, I'll still say it the next day. I realise that completely eliminating foods isn't always a good route to healthy ideas about food. But I want to just do it for May. I need to establish healthier habits, then when I eat that kind of food again it can be like a normal person in normal situations and normal quanities.

I'm also going for the ten pounds lost in May =D It may be a little optimistic, but since I've just recently started getting back on plan it also might be doable.

Right now I'm calorie counting and trying to add in a few fruits and at least a veggie at lunch and dinner. The Daily Plate calorie counter seems to think I can lose 2LB a week on 1400 a day, so that's what I'm rocking.

I'll also post an official 'start' weight on the 1st.

My goals for this month include losing 8 lbs and no cheat days.

My Goals for the month are :-

1) Loose 10lbs

2) Stop binging

3) Maintain my food journals religiously!

4)Avoid coffee the whole month and try to drink at least 3 cups of green tea

I am in again. Realistic goals again too. It worked so well for me in April.

My Goals:
Lose 4 pounds
Finish push up challenge (knee push ups)

SW: 213.6
GW: 209.6

I will be on vacation the last week of May so here is my goal for my last weigh in on May 24th. That means I have 25 days from today until then.

Hmmm, I'm shooting for 132... 5 pounds & to get in the best possible shape.

I think that is overly ambitious, but I like to go for big goals. I can't help myself. The trip I'm going to is a dance music festival and I am in training to not only look good for it, but also have the endurance for 12 hours of dancing a day for 3 days.

For May, I would like to lose 10 pounds. I would also like to (religiously) keep a food journal.

I'll be back on the 1st to record my actual start weight!

Okay, my goals:

1. To lose 6-7 lbs (reach 175 lbs)
2. Exercise at least 4 days a week
3. keep my food journal going

This is my first monthly challenge. I am going for vacation in May, so this will be a challenge for me!

May Goals
1) Lose six pounds.
2) Lose one inch from my waist, or hips ( I ain't picky).
3) Eat four servings of fruits/veggies daily.

My goal for the month of April was to go from 228 to 218. I met my goal early (May 3rd was my deadline) on Monday at 218.6. I am Now 217.2 Soo.. my goal for the month of May is 208 :) I hope to reach this goal by May 24th :)

Hi Count me in. My goal is to loose 5 pounds: weigh 150 at the end of May. Exercise 6 days a week~each work out equals at least 45 minutes~2 days of weight training~sneak in some yoga stretching. I want to be a little more hard core this month than last month. I have labs on the 18th of May. That will tell the whole story of how all this has paid off to this point. I hope and pray I can get off the statin. control the cholesterol with diet and exercise. Not will medication.

1) 6 days of exercise. that means pick and choose my day off carefully
2) journal here every day being accountable. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES!!!!!!
3) 2 days of total body weight training. stick to plan THERE ARE NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!!
4) Sneak in yoga as reward for workouts well done :-))

With pencil and paper Im charting and planning. Journaling it here. NO EXCUSES. I don't want surgery!!!!!!!! my health.

I think that my weight loss is starting to slow down so I will set two goals for this month. The first one will be 165 and the second 160.

1)My goal is to lose 7-8 pounds this month. My starting weight is 143. I would love to be 135/136 by june 1st. That would be awesome.

2)I would also like to keep pushing myself during my workouts(higher speed,sprint intervals,more incline) and spend more time doing my toning exercises.

I will post my starting point tomorrow since I havn't weighed in a few days and I'm at work right now, I'll weigh in the morning tomorrow that's my usual time and go from there!

I'm going to go ahead and count today's weight as my starting weight so I can get my booty on over to this thread. Today I weighed in at 226.8, 11.2 down from my starting weight, and well under my end of April goal weight (5.2 lbs under, actually).

On to May Goals:

1) Primary goal: 220 lbs (doable 6.8 lb loss)
2) Secondary goal: If I reach goal #1 with enough time to spare, I'm going to aim for 218, because that will take me to half way to my ultimate goal weight.

April has been a slow month for me so I'm making it a goal to push myself as hard as I can in May so...

1st goal: Get back on track with eating healthy and exercising everyday

2nd goal: To get out off the 200s

I want to get down to somewhere between 190-195, back to counting calories, and exercising 5-6 times a week. April was a lazy month.

Hmmm... ok. I don't know if I want to set a goal weight for the end of this month. They just depress me when I don't reach them. I think I'm gonna go with:

1. avg 1800 cal/day a week
2. track food eaten at least 85% of the time
3. check into threads more for support and motivation
4. no impulse cheat meals that send me way over calories
5. update my SparkBlog at least 1x per week

I really need to crack down on myself and regain my focus. I've been hovering around this weight for a few months now. Hopefully, going home at the end of the month will be the motivation I need- and hopefully when I get there I won't regain everything I lose in May.

Side note: If anyone is interested in an email buddy, PM me. Since I work in an office, it's easier for me to go back and forth with someone that way to stay on track.

Ok. I lied. My weight this morning is 194.4. I'm determined to get out of the 190s this month, so I'm adding <190 to my goals.

AND today's my first 5K!!! Run Amuck DC!!! I'll let you ladies know how it goes. :)

My start weight for this challenge is 191
I seem to only losing 1 lb a week so I better change my goal - I think I will change it to 6 lbs so that will put me at 185 by the end of the month!
