April Exercise Challenge

Wow, spring is now here! Let's not have it go by with us being less than our most fabulous selves!

To those of you who would like to join in....please feel free. All are welcome and we are here to post our minutes/goals, ambitions and to hold ourselves accountable and to help support and encourage one another.

We all have various goals and different fitness levels, there is no wrong or right here, whether it be 10 min. a day or walk 3x a week, etc. right up to some really heavy lifting and marathon training, we do it all around here. But the most important thing is that we all started somewhere.

Exercise goals will be listed listed here, while weight loss goals, etc. will be listed in our sister thread, "April Weight Loss Challenge".

Tummy Girl 03-29-2010 11:58 AM

For my goal, I don't know, I might even write that in the list, lol. I'm in Mexico from March 31 to April 7 so I won't be keeping my regular routine and I'll need to re-assess my running injury once I get back to see how it's doing.

The plus side is I'm doing school on April 15 and don't start again until May, I have a whole month to workout without having to balance school in there, sweet bliss.

That was the long way of saying I will hold off and commit to figuring out what I'm going to do but only after I have a tan. ;)

Alrighty ladies, what's your aspirations this month?

gardenerjoy 03-29-2010 03:19 PM

Thanks, Tummy Girl!

My April goal: 1800 minutes

Ms Perception 03-29-2010 03:49 PM

Tummy-I love your explanation! I'd love to wait and assess things after I have a tan, but we'd be waiting a while!

My goals are:
1. Swim 600M or more 1-2x/week
2. Bike 1x/week (if temp allows)
3. Run 3-4x/wk, build up miles

eclipse 03-31-2010 11:43 AM

Joining in here for the first time!

My goal for this month is a small one - just to keep on track with my physical therapy excercises as set by my physical therapist - this means both doing all the excercises he assigns on a regular basis AND following his recommendations about what NOT to do to avoid re-injuring my back. It will be a delicate balance!

Dixiemae 03-31-2010 02:12 PM

Im in on this one. I know I said that last month and didn't keep up with my posting. Im definately fired up for this one. I have 3 pounds to go for goal. I will be darned if Im going to get lazy now. Here is to accountability, to a new month a fresh clean start. My goals this challenge is to exercise 5 times a week 3 cardio at least 2 yoga classes a week. No lazy arse this month. starting at 153

Ms Perception 04-01-2010 04:42 PM

My April Minutes:

4/1: 43 min run

LouisaH 04-01-2010 06:07 PM

I'll go for the same goal as last month. Start doing yoga and exercise 5-6 days per week.

I didn't start yoga last month like I had hoped to--I'm still waiting for my yoga friend to give me her dvd she made--I will start that when I get it.

It seems wrong to start the month off with a rest day, but after going for 11 days straight, and having to be somewhere this morning, I haven't exercised yet, and don't know that it's going to fit into my evening. Oh well!

motivated chickie 04-02-2010 10:04 AM

I posted some of this in the April weight loss challenge. But I need support in a fitness thread.

I have a dance music festival to go to on Memorial Day weekend. It will entail 36+ hours of music and dancing over 3 days. I need to get in shape. Haha, some people train for marathons- I train for dance parties.

I want to exercise (run, walk, bike, and/or dance) every single day this month. Will mix up exercise to reduce injury risk.

Goal: 1,800 minutes. My starting weight is 149.

4/1 - 40 minute run
4/2 - 30 minute run/ 100 minutes dancing
4/3 - 60 minute walk
4/4 - 90 minute walk (could not face running- too sore)
4/5 - 30 minute run/ 45 minute walk
4/6 - 90 minute walk (think I ended up walking 6 miles)
4/7 - 40 minute run (stop/start 3 miles)

Week 1 minutes: 370 min

4/8 - 75 minute walk (not very fast)
4/9 - 90 minute walk (I should have run that night)
4/10 - 0 minutes
4/11 - 0 minutes
4/12 - 40 minute run/20 minute walk (Up my miles to 3.5)
4/13 - 40 min run/70 min dancing
4/14 - 30 min run/45 min walk

Week 2: 410 min

4/15 - 45 min walk

gardenerjoy 04-02-2010 10:40 AM

4/1: 50 min yoga, 20 min 30DS, 30 ball routine, 20 knees; 120/1800

knobhdy 04-02-2010 11:59 AM

I started the C25K yesterday. I will be redoing the first day on Sunday to sync the program up with my weekly schedule, but I did start it on the first day of the month.

LouisaH 04-02-2010 12:46 PM

4.1: rest
4.2: 60 min. Jackie Warner Workout dvd

I thought I was going to die today. For some reason the workout was really hard. I changed up the routine so I did upper body first, then core then lower body. Anyone know what the "proper" sequence is supposed to be? Maybe there's a way not to feel so whipped by the end of it. On the other hand, I was able to do a harder workout on the core, which I usually save for last, Maybe it's just that I'm gonna be whooped by the last routine whatever it is!

gardenerjoy 04-03-2010 10:50 AM

Hurt my back doing yardwork. Ouch! So I may have a few quiet days here.

4/1: 50 min yoga, 20 min 30DS, 30 ball routine, 20 knees; 120/1800
4/2: 45 min yardwork, 15 min yoga; 180/1800

gardenerjoy 04-04-2010 11:23 AM

Managed a slow walk and some yoga with the support of an exercise ball. My back is improving!

4/1: 50 min yoga, 20 min 30DS, 30 ball routine, 20 knees; 120/1800
4/2: 45 min yardwork, 15 min yoga; 180/1800

Ladies I don't know what qualifies as house cleaning and or exercise. I just spent an hour with cotton balls and paper toweling stretching reaching cleaning 32 small window panes in the bay window. I worked up a sweat doing it. it looks better. All winters yuck gone :-)))

i've been posting in the April weight loss challenge and have decided to try and set up some exercise goals for the reast of the month.

monday, wednesday, and friday: weights (arms) and crunches (we have a weight bench in the garage and my bf spots me.)
tuesday, thursday, saturday and sunday: park (if the weather is good; if not biggest loser video)

today i had a great workout at the park. i walked 45 minutes, jogged for 15 minutes and did about 5 minutes worth of sprints and incline type walking.

i've been getting creative at the park sprinting back and forth between trees and trying to increase my speed each time. sprints are really effective for the rear- end area btw. lol. i've really been enjoying my time there and hope this summer isnt going to be too hot.

Ms Perception 04-12-2010 10:29 AM

Meow Mix-You're right. It has been quiet without Tummy here and some people taking some time off, but I'm confident we'll get back on track here very soon! I was gone quite a bit this last weekend, but I'll be back more consistantly now.
