Ms Perception 12-10-2008 03:13 PM

Guys, I finally got my ticker! Just had to share that fun news. Also, I'm now only 1.6 pounds away from my new years goal!!
My throat is a little better, but still scratchy. I can't decide if it's really better or worse, 'cause now I have a nagging cough every once in a while! I should be good in a day or so. Thanks for all the well wishing.

FullSteamAhead 12-11-2008 12:23 PM

Good morning ladiessssss :)

Just read all of your news. I have been so busy past few days but finally get a little breather today. It's a grey dark day here today though and I do like to keep busy, there are plenty of odds and ends for me to do around here today! Of course!, do they ever run out? lol : ).

Ms perception, I hope that your feeling better. Yayyyyyy on being so close to your goal, congrats on the loss :carrot::carrot:

Princess and luckymom, that hula hooping sounds like a good workout! I saw that girl on Oprah that became famous from her hubby taping her doing it and putting her on you tube! lol. The hooping looks pretty neat. Is it the wii fit that you girls have?? Luckymom, congratssssss on the wii fit :) and keep us posted on the wii...sounds mighty interesting.

Hi Sass, wtg on the strenghth training. I know what you mean about the overeating and it not being worth it, oh boy do I! I finally lost the few lbs. I gained around Thanksgiving etc. and it was a real struggle for me to do so! I am finding it very hard this time of year but so true about not giving up and we just keep at it. On a bright note, I dare not even ponder what my weight and scale would reflect right now without you all here ,our keeping at it despite any holiday hurdles is at least keeping things under control.

Hi urockmom, hang in there my lady and keep at it. I think it's great that your managing your workouts even during this very busy time. I had the understanding that muscle weighs more than fat, but anyways your diligent working out, etc. I'm sure is paying off in your physique and bet your getting tighter and tighter and losing inches, keep up the great work. That swim sure sounds great, especially on a grey day like today....perfect day for an exhilirating swim :).

Hi lene , same as above and wtg on eating pretty healthy the past few days and on the exercising. 2 more weeks until CHristmas, let's keep on truckin'.

Christian, yay on that compliment anddddd that determination! : ) keep it rockin'.

fauxtini, congratssss on being in the 230's again :carrot:, keep up the great work.

Hattie, how are you doing lady?

As for me ladies, I am glad I lost those 2 lbs. but really feel like I am struggling to stay on top of it. I have good days interspersed with bad or bumpy ones and I am not on that even keel yet but sure not giving up. I really admire everyone for working so hard and managing to traverse around any bumps (or work through them) despite the holiday temptations which abound during this time of year. You all help to inspire me to do the same and keep at it we will! It isn't over yet, we still have 2 weeks to go!

I am done with my CHristmas shopping and have most of the gifts wrapped and decorations done. I have been doing a lot of cleaning and picking up as well, I like the house to look nice for the holidays so I can enjoy it. I hope you all have an awesome day ladies, catch up with you all soon

Hattie22 12-11-2008 05:45 PM

Hi I am here...

I have been working on putting together photo calendars for gifts. I am so behind with the Christmas thing. I am feeling a little stressed with it all.

I am sooo focused on myself and getting healthy that I don't want to focus on anything else...even Christmas. Is that really terrible? I am feeling a little selfish but I know I have to right now. Christmas will come and go...I just don't want to derail my progress. I am going out this weekend to cut down a Christmas tree and go shopping. I really, really don't want to! Cutting down the tree is fine.. but the shopping..the crowds!!!!

Congrats Fullsteam on your loss!!!
Ms Perception..congrats to you!
Luckymom: Isn't wii fun? Do you have wii fit? There is a thread for it.
urockmom: don't fret...keep working it! Your user name is U ROCK MOM!
Don't forget it!

Love to all...I have to go and do more xmas planning! UUUGGGHHHH!

Christian 12-13-2008 09:48 AM

Hi Ladies!
Sorry I have been MIA as well, I have just been swamped this week! I have also cheated a little too, but I am only up 2 pounds so I am ok with that, I will get it right back off , I am hoping to just stay the same at this point of the challenge and then finish up my weighloss by Valentines day so I can just maintain for once ;) Hope you are all having a great weekend, be sure to stay warm, I think of you all daily and I will try to check back in tonight

Hattie22 12-14-2008 08:51 AM

Hi everyone!

Christian: You hold on right where you are! You have done a tremendous job, just don't slide too far. I know you said in the Thanksgiving challenge that when you don't post you don't do as well. Just keep posting. You can practice maintaining now. I would love to be at that point.....someday! You rock Christian!

Well...I went Christmas shopping yesterday and it really wasn't as bad as I thought. I still have more to do though. We are going to cut down our tree this morning so I should be able to get in a good long walk. It is very cold though!

Ok... talk to you all later!!!!

marybeth60 12-14-2008 10:36 AM

I'm down 2lbs this week!! Onderland is just around the corner!:)

Christian 12-14-2008 09:43 PM

Way to go MaryBeth!!!! :woohoo:

Hattie- I will keep posting sis, it really seems funny to be where I am , to be able to maintain??? Is it really happening??? I have waited years for this and dont worry, I plan to stick to it ;)
Did you get your tree up today???

Well today was great, We had a Christmas musical at church and even though the songs were a little more opera than I like, it was a wonderful reminder of the gift that was most precious and what Christmas is really all about...we are so blessed and loved ladies, dont ever forget it

Ms Perception 12-15-2008 10:44 AM

Well, I wasn't perfect this past weekend. It was my Grandparent's Christmas...they always do it early so everyone can come. Anyway, I'm back up a bit (a pound and a half), but hoping it'll be gone by tomorrow. I'm a little disappointed. I REALLY watched portions and all, but I guess the scale is gracious to no one! I am still battling the strep. I feel better, but not "good" yet. One more good day/night and I hope to be healthy again. I almost never get sick, so this stinks in a major way!! Good job to those who are losing and maintaining during this minefield of a season!

Christian- You are SOOO right! We are all blessed and this is the perfect time to remember it. I gotta focus on that, especially when I'm not thrilled with the # on the scale!

urockmom 12-15-2008 03:03 PM

Hi ladies!

Well, it was a weekend to remember! We just got power back after 4 days of no heat and no electricity. I must say it is really, really hard to stay OP in the cold and dark when you are eating whatever is going bad in the refrigerator! :D It was a learning experience to realize what it was like 100 years ago when people were really only focused on survival. Nothing felt so good as to have a warm house last night!

So, just a quick post now to let you know where I disappeared to. I am going to wait to WI until Friday because I know I ate some things that were not OP but it was extreme circumstances!! I got in none of my regular exercise. :( I am also 3 days behind on the Christmas preparations and have to finish up my shopping. I missed you all!!! :grouphug:

SBD Sass 12-16-2008 12:47 PM

OK so I'm doing this freaking yo-yo thing it is quite annoying, but I haven't been helping the situation since I've been doing binges with fast food for the past week and a half. I'm about tired of this last 5lbs I have to go to get to my goal Blah!

I was whining in the Thanksgiving Challenge too and I ended up dropping 6.6lbs in one week but that's because I was really trying.

Anyway, I've upped the darn ante and told myself that If I don't drop 5lbs by December 31 that I will have to wait for that tat I want to get in 2010! That will really kill me so I'm doing the do now.

I hope I didn't just let myself down. :(

lene1974 12-17-2008 08:49 AM

Hi Ladies!
Very, very busy just like many of you. I needed to pop in and say hi to all of you. I have been having really good days and really bad days with my eating. I decided to focus less on feeling bad about it and just make sure I maintain my commitment to my exercise and water. Feb 17th will be my one year anniversary from when I actively started trying to lose weight. I lost 34 lbs. several months ago but then I continued to shuffle the same 3 or 4 lbs around for the last couple of months. Now my size 8's that were loose are getting tight and I need to make sure I don't let it go too far.

I haven't been running which is killing me. It's bad circumstances. I have my 21month old with me all day and by the time Dh gets home from work it's dark and I work at 5AM so it's hard to find the motivation to run, especially with snow on the ground. SO I basically stopped altogether with my exercise, which is ridiculous. I own an elliptical machine, a stationary bike and a Total Body works weight machine. I need to make sure if I can't be running I'm using that elliptical. I just miss running and can't wait till I can get back to it.

Sorry for the book long post. I didn't want to fall too far away from this board. I know in a couple of weeks life will be normal again and hopefully everyone will be able to post more often.

my goal
90 minutes cardio/week
60 minutes/strength
drink 64 ozs.

urock~ 4 days without power? That must have been horrible. Good luck getting caught up with your preparations. I'm glad you're back!

ms perception~ I know this is a little late but I hope you are feeling better.

Marybeth~congratulations on the loss, great job!!!!

Sass~ Good luck with those 5lbs. 2010 is a long way off to wait for that tat you better get it in gear. I would love to see you hit your goal.

Christie~ I'm glad you are sticking with it. You have come so far!

Fullsteam, Hattie~ Hi Ladies hope you are enjoying the holiday season. Hattie, we decided to get the kids the Wii this year for Christmas and are buying the Wiifit so I will be joining the wii club soon.

Everyone else~ I hope all is going well and :dust: to you all!

FullSteamAhead 12-17-2008 11:16 AM

Hi everyoneeeeee,

Been a long time ladies, It was nice to read all your posts. I too, like rockmom, was without power for several days. Everything is back to normal now but still working on catching up on sleep. Been a lot of excitement around here, the furnace blowing out the night we got power back and a house alarm going off early this morning! lol. As for my eating the past week, we went out to eat or get take out. I didn't totally gorge but I definitely was not OP either. I went to the market the other day and got all my ingredients and am back at it, one week until Christmas! I'll weigh in then and see how I do.

Hattie, hi there : ). I think what your doing is super and as far as focusing on YOU now and not wanting to derail, I don't see that as selfish at all, on the contrary. You have worked long and hard and a derailment can make things very difficult. For me, a derailment (particularly in regards to extent and duration) can really throw me off course and then it can be so hard to start again. Your on a roll Hattie, keep it going lady! Keep doing what your doing, your doing great! Regarding Christmas, etc. I am sure once you get all of your christmas shopping done you will feel a sense of releif, it wont be hanging over your head. I think your photo calender idea is super! :)

Hi Christian : ), your maintaining right now sounds like a plan. Quite frankly, I feel that's a feat initself right now (during the holidays) and I am striving for the same though I hope for a loss by christmas so my outfit fits good! lol Oh boy, one week left....I am going to have to work like the dickens to make it happen, maintain the rest of the month and then I want to start January with a real kicker and take it from there. I am glad you had a nice time at that church musical, enjoy the holidays and keep shining :)

Marybeth, congratulations on the 2 lb. loss! :carrot::carrot: keep up the great work! :).

Msperception, I hope that your cold is gone and that you are feeling well now. Regarding you metaphor "minefield of a season" lol. That is exactly how I feel about it right n ow and I keep running into those darn mines! My goal is for a clear passage this week ;).

urockmom, I was thinking about you and figured you were out of power too those days. I am glad you got yours back too when you did as I know a lot of people were still out as of the other day. I was counting my lucky stars that I had finished my Christmas shopping prior to the outage. I think it's the first time I was done so early (early for me). I don't enjoy the stores when they get too crowded and due to our crazy weather it happened to me so many times that I would get stuck home in a storm and not be able to go out so I prepared for that this year! good thing. I guess we are due for some snow friday night and then a doozy on sunday. I got a flatyesterday and never made it to the post office, stuck here today but tomorrow while the weather is cooperative I am getting my tail ou there before the next storm. So true about thinking what it was like in the days no one had electricity! How nice to get power back and hot water! That woodstove fireplace insert we got in the fall ended up being a godsend. It has a cooktop on top too so DH could boil his water for coffee and even heat up soup! Well, I am glad your well urockmom and all is ok up there now, stay warm!

Hi sbd sass, I know how frustrating the yo yo thing can be...just keep at it girl, we still have a few weeks left to ths month.

Leneeeeeee, hello there! Your sorry for the book long post? What about mine???? lol :) aw you, come on.....we love to hear your news. My days have been interspersed as well between good and bad ones but boy am I thankful for the good ones, those good days inbetween can really make a big difference in as far as things not getting too far out of hand andhelping make a maintenance possible and things not the scale not madly spiraling upwards (which is what would happen to me without those good days). I think you have a good plan in place lene regardring your exercise goals and using the equipment, etc. Hang in there and keep at it. It sounds like you might be a good canditate for a treamill someday as you love your running so much. I know it isn't the same though, nothing beats the high of the outdoor stuff. Our days are getting longer now by about a minute a day so t hat's good :). Awesome goals lene, keep at it ....high five.

Well it feels good to be back here. I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season. Let's keep it going and manage t hrough t he holidays as best we can. A big  for you all, have a super day ladies :)

Ms Perception 12-17-2008 01:44 PM

lene & fullsteam-Thanks for your well-wishing. I am better now. I am back to my pre-Christmas weekend weight and about 90% recovered from strep. I thought I behaved well last weekend (watched portions, ate very limited sweets), but ended up with a 1.5# gain, so I'm concerned about the week and a half I'll be splitting between my parents house and my in-laws next week! Can someone please drown me in will power dust?!LOL

urockmom 12-17-2008 04:30 PM

MsPerception~
:dust: :dust: :dust: :dust: :dust: :dust:

That ought to do it and I got some on my hands so hopefully that will tide me over too!

Luckymomof2 12-17-2008 04:36 PM

Hi ladies!
Its been a few ays.
Is everyone ready for Christmas??
I have been running around like the energizer buny trying to get everything done...and I'm still not done.
I've been doing ok with the eating and exercising.... I guess I havnt been trying to do well. I've just been too busy to sit around and eat junk food and my exercise has been running around like a mad woman and taking care of my 2 little ones. I've also been playing my wii and wii fit.
Soooo I could definatly be doing better but I hjavnt been doing too bad. Still havnt weighed myself.
I8'm actually REALLLY looking forward to the valentines challenge. The holidays will be over and I'll be really ready to start shedding some more pounds.
I hope everyone is doing super good!

Hattie22 12-17-2008 05:00 PM

Hi everyone

I just wanted to check in. I am so busy with my last minute xmas shopping! Darn me anyway!! I am eating OP and fitting in as much exercise as I can.

We can do this!!!

I will check in again....gotta go and SHOP!!

Love you guys...and thanks for being here!!!!!

Ms Perception 12-17-2008 05:39 PM

urockmom- gasp! gulp! THANK YOU!! I'm feeling it!

I cook at my MIL's (she can't cook worth a lick, so she lets me take-over there), so that should be fine and my mom and I are competing to lose weight, so it should be good there. I just know there are always unexpected temptations. The grandma's always have their dang cookies and treats everywhere. Gotta love the grandmas!

Luckymomof2 12-18-2008 01:07 PM

Good morning ladies!

Ms Perception. ttally know what ya mean about the grandmas and the cookies. Its my whole family though. Everytime I visit family they are always trying to shove something yummy and tempting in front of my face, lol.

Anyway... just checking in.
Today I'm going to do good!
I feel good about the eating, I know I can stay on track with that.... I just hate the exrecising. I dont know why but it takes every last bit of motivation I have to pull myself to the elliptical or to do any kind of exercise. Ugh.

Hattie22 12-19-2008 01:40 PM

Hi everyone

Today was a SNOW DAY! I still had to go in though. It just started getting bad so I was able to go home early. The roads are definitely not good. My son is driving up from Tennessee. I only hope that he arrives safely.

I have lost 3 lbs this week. WooHoo! I am in the teens! Great way to start the New Year. Christmas can't stop me. Come on girls! We can do it!!! Maybe by Valentines day I can think about those wonderful ONES. Or maybe I am getting carried away. HMMM

I am getting an elliptical for Christmas...it is already here and driving me crazy! Can't use it until the BIG day. Thank God I still have my treadmill to keep me busy. Oh..and wii fit of course.

Still have a little more shopping to do, but with the snow storm it will have to wait until tomorrow. I think I will go get some wrapping done.

Happy Friday everyone! And again: WE CAN DO THIS!!!

kiki100 12-19-2008 03:55 PM

Okay, I'm really late to the party but Christmas is only 5 days away and I'm gonna TRY to maintain my 40lb loss. I'm so proud of myself to have come this far and this will be a real test of my will power! Christmas Eve is traditionally a graze all day and night sort of thing with no real sit down dinner just nibble, nibble, nibble. THAT's gonna be tough!! What are your plans to combat the temptations? I plan on a nice raspberry crystal light drink to sip throughout and hopefully ward off liquor (but oh how I'd love cranrasperry martini's instead!!) and LOTS of veggies to keep my picking and nibbling a bit healthier. Anyone else got a plan?

Ms Perception 12-19-2008 04:55 PM

Hattie--I have to admit I'm very jealous. I want a new elliptical, and a treadmill and Wii fit! I have an old elliptical that not sturdy enough and we're going to get a treadmill...but not 'til after we move. And there isn't a store around here with wii fit, which I want for christmas.

kiki--I am also hoping to limit grazing, but we do have a big christmas meal, too! I have them 2 days in a row...the 25th at the in-laws and the 26th at my parents!! I think the best strategy is LOTS of water/hydration and choosing carefully. Good luck!

urockmom 12-20-2008 01:45 PM

Good afternoon everyone!!!

So, I - like everyone else I suspect - have been running around like crazy so I apologize from my silence. Today is another snow day as the flakes drift on down. We got about 8 inches yesterday, somewhere around 3 so far today, and another 8-10 on tap for tomorrow. :) The up side to all of this is that I am going skiing on Monday. :yay: Skiing is really one of my favorite exercises and I have been looking forward to this first ski for months. (You'll no doubt hear more about my raving about the skiing through the winter so I'll control myself for now. :D)

I have been trying very, very, very hard to stay on plan this week and have been doing pretty well but the scale has just been crazy! Up 3.5 pounds one day, down 2.5 the next, just all kind of really large jumps! I was back to my low of this challenge this morning so I am going to leave my ticker where it is and hope that I will be able to give myself a present by Christmas and actually meet my goal!!

Hattie~:bravo: 3 pounds!!! Awesome!!!

Luckymom~Way to go with staying OP. As for the exercise, :dust:

kiki100~40 pounds is tremendous!!! You have done so well I am sure you can handle the party. It sounds like you have a solid plan in place. (That raspberry crystal light sounds yummy.) I would only suggest that you eat something filling and good for you before the party like an apple or I find that veggie burgers with a little cheese melted on top (about 120 cals) sit in my gut for hours!

Fullsteam~So glad to hear that you are back online. I figured you were suffering with me. I hope you are able to get out to the post office today. I ran there first thing yesterday morning and got the last package and all the cards off so now I am down to wrapping. DH and I are going out this evening (postponed from last night) to finish up the stocking stuff - if it doesn't keep snowing! :)

Lene~I hope you have been able to get your run in. I agree with Fullsteam, maybe a treadmill in your future. I am off the roads now due to snow but I know how mind-clearing a good run can be. I hope you find a solution!

Everyone else~ I have to run and get more cookies out of the oven. gasp! but I am not eating them. I hope everyone is having a terrific day. We have just days to go ladies so let's try to finish up with a big push. That way-even if we don't make it to goal or are just maintaining-we'll feel that we really accomplished something at this time of year.

:coolsnow:

FullSteamAhead 12-20-2008 10:07 PM

:cheer2::cheer2:hi girllllssssssssss :) missing you much! Christmas sure did come up fast ha? It's so nice to have you all here.

Ms perception, am so glad your feeling better. Regarding the wii fit, maybe you can get it online? though I am not sure what the shipping charges would be. Last time I looked, I think circuit city had it but that's up in the air now. There are a lot of deals being offerednow, even online, so you may want to look into it. I live it out in the booneies and I can tell you rightnow I aint driving north to get one right now! lol :) but I am interested! I am so new to this online shopping thing and it can be quite fun so keep it in mind.

fullsteam <<<< gathers up that willpower dust! lol :D sure do need it, thanks ladies! Let's keep on truckin.

luckymom, I havn't been doing too well either, on the contrary but I can tell you right now that Im already planning for january big time! In the meantime, trying to not let things get out of control, I wish to keep my loss etc. but whatever it may be or whichever way, come january, I want to kick it so bad so hopefully we can all do it together! Good for you for doing good and having a good day! keep it up! I tell myself the same thing, it really makes a difference. Just imagine, if i let myself have free reighn from here to the end of themonth what would happen, gulppppppppp! nooo! I will shoot for good decisions and days etc. and strive towards getting to the end of the month as best i can so that I can start the jan month . Keep it up girl :)

hattieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :) wtgggggggggggggggggg lady! :) :carrot::carrot::cheer2::cheer3: congratulations on another 3 lb. loss! my goodness girl :) i am so happy for you!!!!!!! wtg my hatie! keep up the awesome work! You truly are an inspiration. Hope your son arrived safely hon, is here there now? ohhhhhhhhh and congratulations on yournew elliptical! :) omg hattie! that rocks! : ) you so deserve it sweet lady, keep on rocking it and have a wonderful time with your family.

Kiki, congratulations on the 40 lb. loss! :carrot::carrot: that is super! as far as my plans to combat the temptations, not much! lol. I am greek and going to my aunts house and greeks love to feed one another, lolol :D basically, just going to try to take it easy on what i put on my plate, as far as desserts go, I luck out there as i dont have a sweet tooth and nevr ever go for the desserts diet or not.

urockmom,. hi there girl! jeez! lol. more snow last night and today indeed! we have to go up to portsmouth NH for kittys appt. monday morning, hope the roads are okay , we really cant put it off anymore. Miss ya lady, ohhhhhhhhhh have a wonderful time skiing :)

well my dear ladies, Imust run for now but hope to talk soon. I just love having you all here, you guys rock! CHristiannnnnnnn, hey you! hi! :) Honestly, I have not been good but need to be good and need to kick some butt big time after the holidays so please keep onmy tail girls! lol love ya  happy holidays

Ms Perception 12-21-2008 03:19 PM

Okay ladies, I've gotten 1# past my Christmas/New Years goal. Now my plan is to maintain it through this crazy week and exercise everyday (except Christmas day, maybe)--NO EXCUSES!!
Thanks again for all the support here! :grouphug: It has been invaluable! My web access will be sporadic in the next 2 weeks, with traveling, so Merry Christmas to everyone and good luck!

abigi7 12-22-2008 11:49 AM

Wow! I dont know where to begin!!! OK so this challenge went down south for me...where is January's Challenge??? I am over here revamping my plan. I messed up in the 1st and 2nd weeks of December. I live by "if it aint broke then don't fix it" saying now. I changed my diet to put in more protein...it totally threw me off. Oatmeal makes me gain weight! I think I'm going to have to go cold turkey and start on SBD Phase 1 again because I'm so messed up. I have to get rid of the cravings now. I never thought I'd ever see P1 again.

Blah!

I hope everyone had fantastic holiday!

Congratulations to those who hit their goal!! :congrat: Amazing accomplishment for this time of year especially. I did quite the opposite. I worked a crazy work schedule, had very sick kids and ate too many bad things. My work schedule will be back to normal now, my kiddos are feeling better (thank goodness) and after pigging out the entire week with birthday cake and Christmas goodies I'm back on track.

I'm really looking forward to the new year and a new start. Where's that Valentine's Day challenge Christie?????

Take care.
