Hi chicks!
So, I have been off line for 2 days and it took me 2 pages to catch up on the posts! :) It's great to see so many new faces here and I can't wait to get to know you all. I am in the same boat as Christian & Lene and gained weight over Thanksgiving BUT I refuse, simply refuse to change my ticker until my WI day on Friday. :mad: I am finishing up TOM so I am going to blame that and an overall lack of water and increase in wine ;) over the long weekend. Sass-That dress is gorgeous!!!!! Lene-Officially the Turkey Trot is 3.2 miles but I ran 3.25 because I was on a track. If there is going to be one for Christmas I'll probably try it again and try to lower my time. Shy-:welcome2: BACK!!! We missed you the last few weeks of the Thanksgiving challenge. We knew you were eating badly-you had warned us that your silence meant bad things-we just kept calling out into cyberspace to get you back. So glad that you are back on track and joining in with the Christmas Chics!!!:carrot: No, I ended up 3.5 pounds short of my Thanksgiving goal but did lose 12.5 along the way. I am setting a much more modest goal for Christmas because of the overabundance of temptation and for once I'd like to actually get to a goal!!! :D I promise to be more faithful in my posting between now and Christmas. That movie marathon (we are through Episode V in Star Wars) took all of my time over the weekend. Oh, and I have to confess that I have never seen PnP as well. I really miss you ladies and even though I got lost for a bit I thought of you often. Welcome to all of you who joined in, looking forward to getting to know you all. Regarding going off plan and feeling embarrased to post, awwwwwwwww you...get your tail over here girl......big :hug:. Going off plan and spirals like that happens to most of us along this journey, it is not rare for it to happen....if your a flake because of it, ohhhh you, I have been a flake a million times over ;). Keep in mind that the most important thing is not giving up and managing to get yourself back on the horse. An old dear freind of mine here (lekhika) used to have this awesome quote that said, "you do not fail unless you give up". I just love that! You have not given up and remember also that if at first you don't succeed, try try again! Re: "failing challenge so badly", try and be mindful to not get too caught up in the numbers and remember that the most important thing is that you keep trying. I understand completely about your being afraid to weigh in, after such a time it can be discouraging to the point of taking your focus and energy off the plan and make it harder. May I offer a suggestion? Just concentrat getting back OP and take it one day at a time and don't even weigh in until you feel comfortable enough to do so! ok back again, I wanted to get that post out for fear of losing my connection, etc.
My news, I had a real nice time with hubby and was happy to have him home. We did get very upset about my kitty which took and abrupt turn donward but we managed to stabilize him with fluids at home and some special meds. Luckily his doc comes back from holiday tomorrow so we can plan some more future testing to see exactly what is ailing the little guy. I caught a bit of a cold as of a few days ago so just focusing on taking care of that because I dont want any more long stints of not being able to see my folks! I wont even think about that! I can tell you one thing though, if I end up with bronchitis again (tell me noooooooo, lol) I am not taking any more of those darn antibiotics!!!!!! I hadn't said anything, but some of my hair fell out and it was around the time of taking those strong antibiotics so I know its that! I still have a full head of hair but I def. see and feel the change and just try not to let it get me down. The hair will grow back, the main thing is that we are well! okay, planwise: Lene? I got lost in the world of food porn! :lol: I ate a lot ladies, I don't know how I managed to gain only 1 lb. this past week...that has me somewhat awed but I wont analyze that one too much! lol. I can say this though, I don't feel nearly as well since I have been off plan....I feel and look like I gained much more. My tummy , face, and eyes are swollen from the carbs and I ohhhhh so can't wait to feel that nice light feeling again. I went back OP yesterday, I knew the sooner the better. So it's right back at it and I am looking at today as a new day and just getting through the day OP. I want to be as strict as possible until Christmas as I will be seeing everyoneeeeeee and I want to feel good, thus, I am aiming to lose the 2 I gained (gained 1 last week too) plus 6 more by Christmas. urock mom, I think it's smart to refuse to change your ticker.....I wouldn't do it, lol, no way! You will get that gain off and then just take it from there. Congrats again on the loss of 12.5 lbssss. : ) wtg! Black leather skirt you say? Now that's incentive!!!!! :)

I am sorta on track today. Bfast was a challenge since due to circumstances, we ate at Hardees....not exactly healthy bfast options there. But I did the best I could and took it easy for lunch. Sounds like some of you are on a reduced carb plan (maybe SB?). I am trying a kind of hybrid approach. I am totally a whole grain girl, but do realize I need to watch even that so I don't over-do those "good carbs"...unless I exercise like mad! How often do you weigh yourselves? Once a week? Sometimes I don't want to wait that long between weigh-ins....another self-control problem I guess!:D
I'm so glad to hear all your stories. You ladies are already inspiring me! I think I'm going to try working out in the morning tomorrow as I see many of you do. Evenings can be tricky sometimes. I will just get my butt outta bed and do it! Jess |

Fullsteam & Hattie~So, so, sorry that you both caught colds! That is a miserable way to start the Christmas season! Fullsteam~Hair falling out! Yikes, I would be incredibly upset about that. I agree, stay away from the antibiotics or at least the kind they gave you last time.

(I love these little Christmas guys! :D) Here is a big :grouphug: and some :dust: for you all! MsPerception~As far as exercise goes, I don't really do any DVDs. I am strictly a gym & running/biking/elliptical/swimming kinda gal. I always exercise in the morning because that's when I have the most energy. The most I do at night is sometimes I take a walk while my DD is at swim practice. I am with you, I love the carbs but I really have to limit them pretty severely to lose the pounds. OK, I am going to go start unpacking the 6 (six!) boxes of Christmas decorations that we hauled down from the attic yesterday. And that's just inside decorations, nothing for outside and nothing for the tree. I told you I was kind of nutty for Christmas! :elf: |
urockmom-I used to have a y membership and did all that stuff you mentioned, but we are trying to move, so I dropped the membership for now and am winging it a little. DVD's work for now. Somebody needs to buy my house so I can move and get back to a normal routine!! Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. Down with too much bread! Down with pounds! That might be my new motto! LOL

Welcome Jess and princess!:welcome3::welcome: Jess, I run primarily for my exercise. I also have an exercise bike, a weight bench and a newly acquired ellipitical machine. But for the most part it's man push-ups, crunches and running. I used to do Power90 which was effective but I scratched the dvd up too much and never replaced it. I lost most of my weight doing SB. I love my whole grains. I have been maintaining this weight for the last couple of months. My eating habits are off plan more than on plan, but I have gone down in size thanks to the exercise. Oh and I weigh myself everyday but it doesn't count until my weigh-in day. Sass~I love,love,love the dress. It's beautiful! Shy~ I knew you'd come back! Don't feel bad about stepping out of the picture for a while. We are just glad to have you home. urock~ beating your time for Christmas is a great goal. I think I'll do it too. Fullstream! I am losing hair too. like in handfulls. I hope stopping those antibiotics will help you out. im going to a dermatolgist tomorrow and im TERRIFIED. They say it's probabaly stress related and reversable. But i wont know anything until the blood work and whatnot is done.
I hope it's extrenal forces that are cause it and simple meds will get me back on track. I almost had a breakdown at the hair dressers today. it's scary! Anywway.. i didn't mean to veer off of talking about you.. but just know that I know your pain and wish you luck! |
I haven't weighed myself for a few days (because I had my period) and today I am up 2 pounds! Thanksgiving was not good to me.....

I weighed myself today and I am not budging on the scale, but I know I'm making better choices :) and working on consistency in my exercise. :carrot: If it doesn't get better in a week or so, I may have to be more aggressive in my eating adjustments and/or exercise!:?: I also started a blog to help me stay on track. I goota beat my mom in weight loss...though I'm totally rooting for her, she needs it as badly as I do (emotionally).:)

Jess (ms perception), I started the SBD plan on Oct. 3 and followed it strictly and did very well initially, since then I am definitly on a hybrid version! lol I follow the basic principles and for me it was the best plan as I craved carbs (bad carbs) often and needed to detox from them to help break the cravings. I'm getting off the carbs again for a bit after overindulgence over the holidays and I too must watch my whole grain amounts as too much impeded my loss. It sounds like your doing great, keep up the good work. Oh, I usually weigh in once a week....I have found this to be the best for me. Hi marybeth and kelsey, welcome girls : ) Hattie, aw youuuuuuuuuu.......ty and same here girl! :hug: I am sorry to hear you have a cold again, wishing you a speedy recovery from it. It's so nice to see you all again and read your news ladies. urock, they gave me azithromycin as I was allergic to penicillin once when I was kid. You only take it for 5 days and it's the equivalent of taking an oral antibiotic for 30 days acc. to the pamplet. Anyways, since stopping it I havn't noticed more of a loss....I was keeping a real eye on it and now try to ignore it a bit, lol. THanks for the willpower dust, sure need it right now! I attempted and attempt to not worry about it too much so as not to exasperate the problem and do other things that make me feel pretty like doing my nails, etc. Most often, whether it is medication induced or stress etc. , it is reversible. Hang in there, I hope the appt. went well today and please keep us posted if your up to it. I saw your pic and your beautiful chicky :hug: idealperson, welcome and wtg on getting back in action! I have to run but a quick update on me. Yesterday went okay, not great not bad....just okay. I have the structure back in place (sheduled eating etc.). I have been trying to up my water a bit to detox from the weekend and that is going OK but I am spending a lot of time in the bathroom! ;) MsPerception~It sounds like you are doing great! I have found that consistency is really, really important for me. Even if the scale doesn't move for a bit if I am exercising and eating OP then it does eventually get going again. :hug: to you to keep at it! Lene~You are certain to look superfly! I am happy to report that one of the Thanksgiving pounds went away again so it :goodscale: today. I am sure that you will get them off quickly. I had a super :running: today as I wanted to try my Turkey Trot again (without cramps & bloating), ran outside, and took 3.5 mins off my time. I was panting pretty badly at the end or I would have been :dance: but I am doing that in my mind. :D Let's keep losing ladies!!!! |

Thank you all for the warm welcome back. FullsteamandHattie~ I'm joining you on the sick train. I felt congested yesterday... but thismorning I woke up with a fever and can't breathe at all outta my nose. My 4 year old also has a fever and DH droped my food processor blade and cut his foot open pretty bad. Thank good ness our 4 month old is doing just fine. But the rest of us are feeling like crud and I was also supposed to start decorating the outside of the house today and I dont wanna move at all. What a way to start out the challenge. I've decided to not really set a goal weight for Christm,as right now. I dont wanna weigh myself for a bit. I want to concentrate on eating right and getting back into an exercise routing. If I see a bad number on the scale I'm just gonna get in a bad mood. So maybe I can just set a goal weight a little later. Fullteam and Hattie. I hope u 2 start feeling better soon. I know it stinks... especially when there is so much to do for the holidays. Ms Perception: Way to go ! Sounds like u are doing great. I think we all get in a little funk every now and then where the scale doesnt wanna budge even when we're doing good. The scale WILL start moving soon since your stickin with it. Ideal person! Fullstream: thanks for the kind words. I messed up and my appt is actually TOMORROW. I will def be on filling people in on what's up :) I went and got my hair did and my eye brows waxed and stuff yesterday.. and im feeling ok today :) urockmom: Way to go on shaving some minutes of your turkey trot time! I'm gonna see if I can do the same at the gym tomorrow :) I just went for an hour walk around my neighborhood tonite. Everyone's getting all their christmas lights and everything up. Im actually training for a half marathon right now, its in six weeks. So I got a late start so I am just now starting the training. My goal is to run 3-4 miles tonight, we will see how that goes LOL.

OK so I gained 4lbs from my Thanksgiving Challenge back bleh! I ate a Whopper with cheese meal and I almost ordered in a large...God help me! And I had a baby ruth candy bar for snack. I am waiting for aunt flo and I'm getting nervous cuz she's kinda late, but I do feel some activity in my tummy off and on and I'm craving and stuff. I'm also depressed. I got my Cathe beginner kit and I don't feel like doing it today. I was so excited to be getting it. Instead I went for a 10 minute power walk outside. :(

:carrot: Well, I did sit-ups, push-ups, and jumping jacks during Biggest Loser commercials. I missed my walk tonight so I could go to parents night at swimming. I hope my little commercial break stuff made up for it somewhat. I gotta keep going. That scale better be nice!!:dizzy:

You just get right back in here so that you can fit in that fabulous dress! Rayner~With hard work and persistence you can make it! I set a really big goal (16 pounds) for my Thanksgiving Challenge and I didn't make it but you know what.....I was thinner!!!! :) We are all here to support you in whatever your goal might be. fauxtini~I know, I know, I am really behind on my Christmas stuff and I am usually first! THe cold has not spiraled (which I was afraid of as I just recovered from bronchitis a few weeks ago) and I have been taking care of myself, keeping warm, and taking some medicine. OH yesssssss, I decided I aint letting this bugger get a hold of me this time! lol andddddd today I am going to take my fish capsules and vitamins (which have been waiting for me). TOM totally snuck up on me as I was not due until Sat. but I am so glad it is early because that means I will be ok over the weekend. No wonder I was feeling so bloated and all. I drank a lot of water yesterday and that really helped. THe day went well yesterday, pretty OP except for some carbs and today is going to be even better! :yes: I have my mindset strong right now, whew! 3 weeks from today is CHristmas eve., my plan is to work hard and be OP to strive for a loss by then and then use the remainder of the month to stabilize it or get rid of any gain during the holiday. You could feel the electricity between them! I also couldn't believe the mother! What a pain!I got really teary eyed when she spoke to her Dad. I watched it with my 23 year old daughter and then threatened to tell her boyfriend that he could have a word with her ...PRIVATELY! Sorry I didnt check in yesterday. Man this cold is starting to feel more like the flu. Ugh. I havnt been doing so well with the eating. I have just been craving comfort foods. DH keeps bringing home junk food cuz he wants to be sweet and make me feel better. Last night we had chicken and dumplings for dinnr... I know... so bad. I really need to get better quick. My DH is a toughie, he didnt wanna lose any $ from his paycheck so he went right back to work on that foot... I just hope he doesnt make it open back up. I wa thinking ladies... if you all wouldnt mind... I'd like like to make my Christmas oal to just eat clean until Christmas... I reall just dont want to weigh myself after eating so much junk for like 3 weeks before Thanksgiving and now being sick. Is it ok if I just eat and exercise the best I can and weigh myself on Christmas to see how I did? Reyner: Welcome! I think it's great that you are setting high goals for yourself. TOM.. it can really make you feel awful. It always made my weight go up a couple lbs. I havmt had a period in over a year though becasue of being pregnant and now I breastfeed so thats caused TOM to not come back yet. hope thats why its back... hopefully I'm not preggers again, lol. Glad ur cold isnt getting any worse! Hattie: I'm glad to hear that you are starting to feel better now. and wow you stayed on plan through it all! Do you like the Wii fit? I think it's very realistic to get your exercise in and try to eat the best that you can with out putting unfair pressure on yourself. I have been exercising like crazy. My food choices have been 90% in the good. I didn't drink enough water yesterday but have been doing well today. I'm happy to say that our tree is up and decorated and our lights have been up (dh did when it was still warm out). Presents have been bought but still need wrapped. I have all my ingredients on the counter to make my Christmas candies and cookies but I'm half afraid to do it. I think I will wait until after I weigh in tomorrow. :D Have a fantastic day Chicks!!!! |

luckymom- :thanks: so much for the good scale vibes :D...I think they worked!! I was down over a pound again today.:cheer2: Yipee! Also, I think it's a good idea to do your best to stay on plan during this sick/recovery time then check it out on the scale when you feel better. It's definitely no fun fun to check out the damage when you know you've strayed, but you'll feel good to be on track again...especially once your cold/flu passes. :getwell:

Today I weighed in and I lost 2 lbs from the start of this thread. Now I am getting eager to be in the teens! I know...one step at a time.. Luckymom: Just do what you can do! I know you will have a loss on Christmas and a loss is a loss! Don't worry about weighing in at all. I weigh myself too much and really need to cut back! Ms Perception: You will love wii fit. I hope Santa brings one for you because you are being sooo good! Lene: You are so far ahead of me on Christmas preparedness. I have done all of NOTHING! I love Christmas but I am one of those procrastinators. I think that is one reason I got so heavy. I always say tomorrow. Finally I have said TODAY! (not on Christmas stuff though...that may still be tomorrow) oh yeah.. I laughed when you said that my real name was not natural to you. Hattie is fine. I kind of like being someone new. Lene and fullstream and all: I went to the doctors yesterday. Got about 8 vials of blood taken. That was not fun.. haha They all came back fine. At least it's good to know i'm in good healthy physically :) Had an appt with a dermatologist about my hair coming out. She told me that it's due to my stressfull year no doubt and my eating and exercise is ok and stuff and not effecting it. She said that my hair is all in one stage right now.. well more than usual is and that it will continue to fall out but will all grow back and it's nothing permanent. That makes me feel better. She said to come back if it gets worse and that more or less.. chill out and i iwll be fine.. haha It's weird though cause i dont FEEL stressed.. like anxious or anything like that.. but i guess my body chooses shedding my hair as stress.. ANyway.. THANK the heavens above it's not permanent and i will have myluscious locks back someday. For now i settled with a new haircut to keep me smiling hehe Anyway.. I put up my tree last nite! It was the first time i had put up a fake tree and it was my first tree as a married lady.. hehe Since DH is deployed, I took pictures of the stages of me putting the tree up for him.. and he watched me put it up via webcam until it was WAY past bedtime for him over there.. it ade me happy to find away to still do it together even though he's so far away. :) Bare in mind.. ther'es like 10 ornaments on it.. we will get more :) hehe Oh yeah.. and moms making me a tree skirt.. hehe Next year will be our glamourous christmas.. this year it's ghetto christmas hehe! here are some pics of the whole ordeal.. lol Attachment 30920 Attachment 30921 Attachment 30923 Attachment 30924 Attachment 30925 |
Yay Faux! That's great news about your hair! You really have had a stressful last couple of months with the move, marriage, Dh's deployment, the visa nonsense you went through. (I think that was you I remember reading about on one of Eny's challenges months ago, right?) That's a ton of good and bad emotional stuff to deal with. Oh and the pictures are adorable. How great to be able to share it with your DH. I remember when my ex was deployed how fortunate I felt to be able to e-mail him almost daily. When I gave birth to our son he was able to see pictures of him that very same night on his ship. I couldn't imagine what it must have been like in past wars to not have contact for months and months at a time.
Hattie~ Congratulations on seeing a loss!!!! You really are super in these challenges. About Christmas, I am more prepared then I normally am at this time. Good Luck girls!!!! |
Hi,everyone! I did alot better today.I had a 90 minute walk and made better food choices.The week is almost gone and my first weigh in is on saturday.I don't think i tried hard enough and i'm not expecting to be down.I will be extra good tomorrow and cross my fingers.:carrot:
