Hi, I would like to join you guys. I am about 175 and would love to get to 160 pounds. I may get there before thanksgiving. But its good to know I lost the weight, so I will join. I start my diet tomorrow. Just regular Calorie Coutning.

Darby1 08-19-2007 10:07 PM

I'd like to join!

I have a sort of high goal of 25 lbs. I hate counting calories/points, etc., so I'm just eating about half of what I usually do. I am planning to work out at least 5 days a week. Cardio 5x weekly, and weights twice a week. Hopefully, I'l be able to up the weights to 3x weekly.

Good luck to everyone!

shelby897 08-19-2007 11:01 PM

The last two days I've done absolutely horrible!! I'm coming here to "confess my sins :(" and start fresh tomorrow!! My husband goes back to work (he's been on vacation) and it's supposed to be nice here -- so I want to hang out outside all day (away from the tempations of the cabinets!!)

Hope everyone is doing amazing and can't wait for the only thing fat on Thanksgiving will be the turkey!!!

colaz 08-20-2007 05:19 PM

Shelby, weekends are always hard to stay on track. I hope you had a fresh start today...fresh Monday! :)

Darby, how has your week started out? That is a lot of cardio...good luck!

Hey, I'm going to jump into this challenge too! My current weight is 160, and my goals is going to be 148 lbs by Thanksgiving...then I plan on gaining 2 pounds on Thanksgiving for an even 150 lbs! ...tehehe lol

I'm doing slimfast and am planning on joining a gym here pretty soon (I even know which one). I just moved to Iowa City two weeks ago, so I'm trying to get settled. So far I've lost 70 lbs sense 2002, and slimfast has helped with most of that. I am going to start up heavey duty on that again.

That is my plan :)

Darby1 08-20-2007 09:45 PM

Congratulation on your 70 lb. loss, Tessa! That's awesome!

My week has started terribly. I didn't work out and I've been snacking all day! I think it's because I'm bummed about school starting today. I just felt blah all day. Unfortunately school is here to stay (at least for another year), and I am just going to have to get back on track!

I did buy groceries today, so I'm good for the week food-wise.

So, tomorrow:
Walk my dog to the stop sign (one mile). When I get back, jump on the treadmill for at least 2 more miles. Although, I'm thinking about trying interval training. Does anyone know anything about this? Then I'll work bi's, tri's and shoulders.

Breakfast:
Cereal

Lunch:
Sandwich with lots of veggies

Dinner:
Protein shake

Snack:
I'll be at school, so I'll bring a Cliff bar.

Repeat daily.

Good luck to everyone; hope you had a better Monday than I did!

valpal23 08-20-2007 10:27 PM

I'm joining this challenge... and aiming to lose 20 pounds by Canadian Thanksgiving. I think I can do it. I'm counting calories and exercising 6 days a week... which is a huge change from the last year of my life.

Lost squirrel 08-20-2007 11:59 PM

I'll make it a birthday goal in that case!

How about I try for losing enough to reach my goal then? And be skinny for my Birthday which is...Nov. 26th. :celebrate: :gift:

wishtobefit 08-21-2007 06:35 AM

Hey, hope it's not to late to join the Thanksgiving Challenge. Hopefully, I can lose 20 lbs by then. I just started so it will be tight, but hey, lately everythings been TIGHT!!!
Kit

colaz 08-21-2007 08:55 AM

Darby, are you going to school right now, or teacher? Yeah, it is crazy that the school year has started up again. I'm a teacher...well, substitute unless I get called here this week yet. I had an interview last week that went really well, and they told me they'd call me sometime this week. ...school started on Monday! Eak! Sorry that your week did not start out very well. I hope you are feeling and doing better now. Over the Monday blues!

valpa, when is the Canadian Thanksgiving? Sounds like a good idea.

Squirrel, lol...that works! :)

Wish, lol...I know what you are talking about...it is a good time to start losing weight after everything feels tight.

So, today is starting out pretty well. I had my slimfast granola bar for breakfast. I don't think I'll have time for any exercise today...have a doctor's appointment (yearly...yuck). Yesterday was going well until I hit Mickdonalds for lunch with a friend...opps.

Today is a new day.

keeperofthehome4 08-21-2007 11:30 AM

Hey sorry I wasn't around yesterday Shay needed more help with her schooling. I'm doing ok but am about to scream last two weeks I've done WW and gained one week and lost nothing this week:mad: . If I don't lose this week I'm going back to SB that's how I lost the 40lbs so far.

seasoning~ We all have days like that.

Darby1~ Of course you can join in

shelby897~ You can do this we all have these weeks I've found its part of losing weight.

colaz~ welcome aboard. Good luck I'm sure you can do it. I never tried slimfast before but heard its good.

valpal23~ Welcome. Ya know I didn't know Canada had a Thanksgiving. Ya learn something new everyday.'

Lost squirrel~ That's a good date and reason for losing weight.

wishtobefit~ Kit you can do it we're cheering for ya here.

Darby1 08-21-2007 11:38 AM

Hi everyone,

My morning started very well. I did walk my dog. I think we did about three quarters of a mile. He's very out of shape, so I didn't want to take him too far. But I figure if we can walk 3 or 4 mornings a week, he'll get healthier pretty quickly. He's wiped out right now. He came into the house after our walk, drank some water, and laid down. He hasn't moved since, and that was 2 hours ago. Poor baby.

Tessa-I'm a student. I'm working on a journalism degree. I started in 2005 and did 5 straight sememsters and got pretty burned out, so I took the summer off, which I'm beginnning to think may have been a mistake. It's SO hard to get back into it.

What grade do you teach? Or do you get a choice as a substitute? Good luck with your doctor's appt. I get to do mine next month. Ick.

Welcome Kit, Lost Squirrel and valpal. Hang in there; we can do it!!

PinkyPie 08-21-2007 03:42 PM

Hey Everyone! Down 1.4 KG this week or 3 lbs! :carrot: 12 lbs left to go for the challenge :)

I'm on a complete roll with my points, totally staying at or just under for 8 days in a row now! Whoo Hoo!

colaz 08-21-2007 10:27 PM

Ally, is there a certain time that it normally takes WW to get working? I know slimfast says to give it at least 2 weeks before seeing real results...if SB works though, go back. WTG on 40 lbs! whohoo! Yeah, I like slimfast...it helps me keept to very low cal., but getting all of the nutritions I need.

Darby, lol...if you keep up the walking, I bet your dog will start walking you. lol. My roommate just got a dog from the shelter, and I hope she lets me take her out of walks every once in awhile. She is a cutie too...little terrier. Yeah, it would be rough taking time off of school, and then trying to jump back into the reutine...it is hard enough after a summer. Just stick with it, and you will be able to get back into the swing of things. Good luck!

Velve, whoohoooo!!!!! WTG! You are on your way to making your goal! So, the week has started off really well so far???

So, I did a shake for breakfast, pizza hutt for lunch, and a chicken sandwhich for supper....opps for the pizza.

Right now I am home in NE Iowa getting some appointments done...I think as soon as I head back to my house in Iowa City...I will be able to get back into the swing of things. I don't even want to weigh...gulp.

I am heading back to Iowa City tomorrow morning. I miss my kitty Meeko and the house :)

keeperofthehome4 08-22-2007 07:57 AM

Ok I'm pissed this morning  I have been following WW for almost 3 months. Been eating within my points picking healthy stuff and eating right. And I've not lose a single freaking pound since being on WW. I go up and down I lose then gain lose then gain. I'm up two pounds this week. So starting today I'm dumping WW and am starting South Beach. The same thing is happening to my husband so he's starting SB with me as well. So today is my new weight in day. So we shall see how this coming week goes. I hate the detoxic phase but it's so worth it.

Velveteen~ Way to go :carrot:

colaz~ Yes I've heard that too. I think 3 months is long enough. I've tried WW in the past and got the same results. I know it works for some but thinking for my body it doesn't and that's ok.

Darby1 08-22-2007 09:06 AM

Hey Ladies,
Yesterday was a really good day. I walked Ricky, I did two additional miles on the treadmill and I lifted weights for upper body. My food was right on track. So today my goals are:

Work out when I get home. Treadmill (at least two miles, but I'll try for three). Also, I want to work legs and back. No walk for Ricky today, as he's limping a bit. Hopefully tomorrow.

Food will be the same as yesterday. I find it's easier for me to stick to the right foods if I eat the same thing for several days in a row.

Ally-it sounds like you definitely need to go back to SB. I know some people really are successful on WW, but everybody's body is different. Have you ever read PastaQueen's blog? She lost nearly 200 lbs on SB. Just google "Half of Me" to find her blog. She's a really good writer and funny too.
Congrats on the 40 lb. loss.

Velveteen-Fantastic news about the loss! Good job on sticking with those points.

Tessa-It would be great if he did start walking me! My other two dogs are very fit because they run around on their own, and the neighbor girl is trying to make the high school track team, so she takes one of them running a few times a week. Ricky is my couch potato. His thought is "why go outside, when I can follow Darby around and get treats and snuggles?"

Pizza is not that bad. It's always harder to stay on plan when you're away from home.

Have a great day everyone. Only 91 days till Thanksgiving. ;)
