I have absolutely no idea how I did it, but good golly I'm down 1.4 pounds since last Monday, despite the roller coaster between then and now! Who cares, I'll take whatever I can get. Have to admit the other gals are right, sometimes the weekly average is a lot more positive than the daily ups and downs! Unless this week turns into a real major miracle the monthly goal is toast, but hey, anything is better than nothing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

kappy, 1.4 pounds is great! Sometimes you have to take your wins where you find them, but a victory is still a victory.
Elegant, great job on making your monthly goal early! I think jeans are the ultimate symbol of weight loss. A nice pair of jeans shows off your butt like nothing else! piggin, I think your salt rinses could definitely have something to do with the weight. Salt can sabotage the best diets. Lekhika, the cherry crisp and ice cream sounds too good to be true. I'm salivating just thinking about it. I better stay a long way away from that! |

Congrats on all the losses ladies! My life has taken another turn (as usual) but I'm just going to keep chugging along. I really have no choice. It's either that or sleep eternally.

I have been MIA but am happy to report that this morning I met my goal of 10 lbs for August. When I initially decided on 10 lbs I thought that it would be a piece of cake. The weight came off quickly when I was heavier but the closer I get to the 200 lb mark the slower it goes.

TOday is totally on plan. Boca burger with egg white omlette for breakfast. A great big salad for lunch + a chicken McNugget (my daughter's).
Full on cardio inthe morning coupled with weights in the evening. PLus it's Laundry day and i have to vacuum the 2nd floor of the house! I am a rock star today. Funny thing....the days I don't exercise...it's almost like I'm an addict who hasn't gotten her fix. I feel mopey and depressed and go the entire day thinking something is missing and feeling generally icky. My body needs exercise to feel good...how strange is that? How marvelous! |
Being my first time in a challenge, I have to ask a really odd question. The goal was how much to lose in the month. So exactly when does the month end? My weight as of the morning of the 31st? Or as of the morning of the 1st? I'm having one of those days where I could honestly argue the point either way and convince myself! While I could use every possible minute in the month to count I seriously doubt it's going to matter between Friday or Saturday morning!

I'm not going to weigh-in until the 31st. I am not even going to use the bathroom that the scale is in (my mother-in-laws) so that I won't be tempted to peek! I didn't eat that great last weekend..while at my mom's with 2 of my 4 kids, but I didn't go crazy either, so these few days before the end of the month are totally devoted to doing the best I can.
Lekhika...I feel the same way about exercise....I feel like I have not finished my day until I do something. |
I'm still hanging there at 150 (a few tenths up, a few tenths down). I've eaten only lean meat and vegetables today. Maybe if I run and jump on the scale when it's not expecting me...

You and me....it's a date then for the 31st weigh in? That's my last August weigh in and I am working super hard to have a nice number then....hope the scale gods have mercy on my exercising butt and there's a decline in the numbers...Usually I don't hope for more than a pound a week but I am really hoping that there's more of a downward trend. We may be going to India at the end of October so that sort of makes a change in the goal weight...I'd like to be closer to 100 by then so that there's a cushion because there's no scope to do anything other than yoga in India and that's not nearly enough calorie burning for the (likely) extra calories I'll be injesting. I think I need to reassess my program and work to the new goal. I am kind of worried about my body image problem. I mean, I see that the rest of me is getting sort of thin but....why does my everloving face still look fat? |
..sigh....well, this morning I was back up 3 pounds, but hopefully its TTOM (which I seem to have like 3 weeks out of 4 anymore!).
I've been exercising pretty regularly and will weigh in on the 31st for the final total! Good luck everyone! |
Ok i have a scale question, do scales have a short shelf life do you think?! Mine are about 3-4 years old I guess and over the past week I have flucuated between 211 and 218!! Its driving me insane, each morning the weight is just flying up and up, and I have been exercising and my eating has been reasonable, certaintly not enough to gain so much!!
Its really depressing me I was just wondering if anyone else has had something similar with their scales or if it is simply me gaining at a rate of knots. Im still doing my final weigh on friday. |
Yeah about the scale...I don't know about the shelf life, but I think something is wrong with mine too LOL. Gaaaaaah I HATE getting stuck! I know it's good I am not gaining, but geeez I want to see atleast one more pound gone before September...That would put me one pound shy of my goal. *huuuuuffffff puffff*

I can't beleive it's wednesday already, the time really is flying! I took the scale out and lost 1lb (of the 3+), well at least it's something but had I been more on plan I beleive those 3 and then some would of been gone. All in all, it hasn't been a great month for me planwise and I am so eager for a fresh start. I promised myself by sep.1 to be fully on plan and do things to my liking....back to planned dinners 2 days in advance and my fish, etc. No more floundering for me. I plan on working hard during the fall months before all the holiday festivities and come Saturday I am not allowing myself any sidetracks. Ladies, your doing great! Congrats to all of you on the weight loss and to those who may have not had a loss or a gain....hang in there! We have a few days left to our month and then we start a fresh month! I am already getting geared up for it and mentally going through my plan, etc. I am going to go to the market and get all of the ingredients I need and the house will be void of anything not on plan. pigginpodgey, I use an analog scale and have for a very long time. I have been through quite a few of them. My dh has told me that they don't last that long and are not as accurate because the springs get worn, etc. When my previous one got old it was all over the place! Though my weight fluctuates quite a bit it was way off.......even on a daily basis or rather checking it several times. You may want to get a new one just to be sure. Keep on truckin girl. Lekhika, regarding your previous post....yes my mom and I are extremely close. I am upset though, she came over yesterday (her day off) and we had such a nice time getting some sun and hanging out and then last night I got a call from my parents, she had a fall outside of her house and broke her hand! She's going to have to be out of work for a while. I think you look fantastic girl! I was admiring your pic and those absolutely gorgeous colors (the blue top with lime green scarf) which really compliment your skin tone! nice! I don't see your face as fat, I see you as h aving lovely features with a beautiful face. As for the cardio, keep it rocking.....right on girl. Readingyour posts and how you talk about the cardio and how good it makes you feel etc. is really inspiring me to get off my slacker butt! lol I love that feeling too and just didn't feel the same or as good if I missed a day.....I feel more sluggish now and I can clearly see how much the exercise helps! ANyhow, your doing great! : ) Well ladies, not much else to report on my end. It has been extremely busy here. We have had people working in the driveway past couple of days and dh stuck around to oversee it and tell them where the cement goes. The weather has been incredibly beautiful! The August countdown is underway! I weighed 149.6 this morning. So close, so close. If I can lose just .2 more, I can round to 149 and meet my goal for the month. I've used a body fat scale for the last couple of years and I think it's reasonably accurate. We've got two in the house--the other one is a balance-type scale. They seem to stay consistently about a pound different, though I can't remember right now which one is heavier. I got the body fat scale after I got rid of my old mechanical scale, because that one was acting weird. Sometimes I'd weigh myself first thing on it, then weigh again after eating or drinking something and I'd be lighter! I think you have to check the calibration on all scales from time to time.

Lekhika, it the food you'll eat in India anything as good as they serve in Indian restaurants here? I just love the stuff. I'd have a hard time maintaining my weight if I had that around me all the time. I can see why you'd want to lose before you go. FullSteam, I see you've started the September thread. I'll be over as soon as I figure out my goals for the month. Maybe it'll just be to lose another six pounds. |
If the fattest place on your body is your face I envy you! Maybe you are just one of those folks with a round face, in which case there is nothing you can do about it except accept it.
Good golly if the final weigh in for the month is tomorrow than I'm toast. Oh, well. Lesson learned, always try to figure out where TOM will be when joining a challenge! Like the Thanksgiving one I joined, and good old TOM will be right there at the finish line again. I did do something incredibly anal yesterday . . . I graphed my weight for the month with a running 7 day average. I might not be able to see the weight loss (up here, down there, steady, back down, no up!), but that running average sure does show it all. So I'm staying focused and keeping on keeping on. I'll get there eventually! |

I wouldn't say that my face is the fattest thing on my body...I have jiggle to spare...but I feel like my face has lost the least now...after the initial santa clausyness roundness left that is. I know deep down that it will never be angled and mysterious...that my face is round...I have to deal with it....I just like to complain! :p seasoning It's funny you ask. The food served in Indian restaurants here and in England is largely North Indian fare. This is the same stuff we get when we "eat out" in India. My problem isn't with that....it's just that Indians eat a FULL lunch...I tend to eat a heavy breakfast, a lighter lunch and a super light almost snack like dinner. That's going to pretty much go out the window when I'm there... Plus when you go to a relatives house...you're practically forced to eat...it's their quest in life to feed you.... :( Yeah..maybe I should think about losing 10 pounds so I can gain it? |
With August winding down I am proud to report I met my goal of 9 pounds this month. I started the month at 202 so I had to be 193, and this morning I was 191.6. Congratulations to everyone on all the losses this month, even if you didn't get your entire goal it is still progress and that is awesome...off to September goals, see you all there!

Well I don't know how I did it, but today I weighed in at 134. The scale was tossing and turning between 134/135 but settled on 134. I'll take it! Yesterday at work was insanely busy which resulted in me having to walk an additional 3k on top of my regular walks, and even though I was exhausted when I got home i still managed to push out my strength session. I lost a total of 9 pounds this month, which actually is my biggest monthly loss yet. Weird considering i'm so close to my goal, I guess adding more fiber/strength training and doing 6/7 days of cardio instead of 5 did the trick!
Tomorrow i'm going to try on a new pair of jeans and for the first time I'm rather excited! I'm currently wearing a size 7 with a belt(which is also on the last hole!) and can't wait to see what my newest size will be. Probably a 6! It's been a long time since i've seen that number (5 years, and even at that, the size 6 thing lasted a couple of months). Everyone did a fantastic job this past month, congratulations to you all. Kappy- I used to make those graphs, I found them very motivating for sure! I luck out that TOM always comes for me mid month so my initial and ending of the month weigh-ins are never ruined. But man that TOM week always gets me a weekly 'plateau' Seasoning- congratulations on reaching your goal. That's awesome. I remember hitting 145-149 was when I started to get the most compliments on my weight loss. It's a good feeling! Lekhika- Better to have a round face then a sunken in skeletal one! If it weren't for my obsession with sometimes cutting my hair short I think i'd absolutely love to have a round face. While you're having trouble with your round face, my flat butt is frustrating me to no avail, while I've gained a little lift I have succomb to the realisation that I am forever stuck with a flatass. Oh well! Jordan- Congrats on the 9lbs! You and I both had the same weightloss this month. Doesn't it feel good? I was lifting my 8lb weights this morning and thought to myself "i lost more than this one weight in a month". It made me pretty happy I must admit. Can't wait to read how you do in september. I hope you all have a tremendous labour day weekend, and those of you who are part of the labourday challenge, I can't wait to hear your final weigh ins on Monday! I hear ya Lekhika, I'm a round face as well. Sometimes I really wish for a "real" jawline. Then again I also suffer from the infamous "flat butt" like Elegant Departure! I swear my parents got together, figured out which were the least desireable genes on both sides of the family and gave me the lot. Huge bones, short stature, thin hair, acne, round face and flat butt. I got it all God bless them!
For those of you who met your target, I'm jealous but congrats! I know you all worked hard for it. I "officially" can only report a 0.4 loss for the blessed month. Not happy does not begin to describe it. However. It was what it was and we're moving on to September and the new goals/targets. Sooner or later I'll get it figured out and make real progress like the rest of you! |
Well I took a chance and weighed today, even though the dreaded Aunt is in full fury, and I am still down a pound for the week...So 188.6 puts me only 1.6 pounds shy of goal of 187...And I am sure I will get another pound drop Tuesday or Wednesday after Auntie leaves me be!

A pound loss for this month, not good but better than i thought so I will take it!! Need to concentrate next month, my goal for next month is 4lbs.

well....I met my August goal....on to September....and another goal!!
I find that as I loose, the weight seems to be harder to loose. Those last couple of pounds did not just drop off!! congrats everyone on a really great month!! I can't believe it is September already....back to school, fall clothes (in smaller sizes this time), cooler mornings. I love autumn, but I am really going to miss the summer! |
