Hi Purple! That's great that you are stepping up to the challenge!! LOL life is full of temptations so we do have to learn how to cope with them... but soooo hard when it is right there in your own home! Keep it up!

hi misti how are you doing?
Today I am home sick from work, I have a fever, came out of the blue last night, I feel very flu-like. I work with alot of sick kids and had one cough on me last week, he had strep. Figures, although my throat isn't sore, my glands are. I don't have time to be sick!
I am doing easter dinner this year. I still have to shop and cook. My husband just called, he is coming home early from his trip... he caught no fish, although he sounded ok on the phone I know he is disappointed.

Here's to a in control day!!

Hi all..I'm feeling better, but weak, the illness turned into a stomache thingy, did that keep me from eating those easter mashmallow eggs? nooooooooooooo, still did....LOL
Grrr nothing worse than a big ol 17yo kid.. coughing in your face.. ( i'm a pediatric nurse) while I know he was sick... he could have covered his mouth, while mom sat and watched and offered no direction.. typical of what I see.. ( sry I'm venting) at 17 he should know to not cough in someone's face!!!and now i'm sick!
Well it is monday and a new day, it is chilly-willy here in upstate NY, my pansies are doing wondeful and most of my other flowers are peeking out of the ground. I love to gardening ;a true labor of love for me.
My goals for today are to drink my h20, journal.
Have a grand day all!!

Hello Pink! You seem like you are doing great already. ^^ Keep up the good work, we are all here rooting for you!

I have alot of the same problems as you. I've found some solutions that work really nicely. I've replaced Chips & those other crunchy or bready snacks with LowFat Pretzel Sticks. I always hated Pretzels but being on a diet, it felt relieving to try something that reminded me of my evil Chip obsession.

The thing is, it works for me because I don't crave them, instead I use them to get over my cravings for something that is unhealthy. Whenever I'd eat something bad, like Chips, or Cookies.. etc, I would end up spoiling my whole day because I felt like "I've already cheated, so why not..". This way, I end up satisfying my craving and feeling like I am still on the right course! You can have 45 sticks for only 100 calories, but I usually only eat around 20 in a day. I just grab 5 when I'm feeling a craving and suck on em a bit. It really does help alot.

Just find something you're not nuts about, or a healthier version of what you are nuts about, and use it as a replacement for your favorite (and evil XD) snacks. You'll still feel good about yourself and your body will too.

Another thing that helps me from going nuts is getting a glass of water. I hate water, so it's differant for me to try and drink it. When you're not really thirsty though, water really tends to fill you up. Sometimes when I want something else and I feel like I've really eaten enough, I get a glass of water (16 oz) and just drink it while I am working or playing around, and try to get busy doing something like chatting on the internet. Eventually I forget I even wanted to have something.

Something I heard once I thought was really smart, was that you should try and remember that you've been putting the weight on through years in your life, it isn't going to go away in one day. So when you feel like it's taking forever, just remember to keep at it.. there will always be people here at the boards to support you. ^^

(feel silly since this is my first post.. so.. hi!)

Hi everyone!!! i've miss you all so much. i caught a cold and wasn't up for being on the computer at all. i hung out with the couch for about a week - isn't that sad? I am feeling better though. it was so nice to come on here today and read all of the posts. i was so leary of posting something at the beginning since i was new, etc. but boy, i sure am glad that i did. its so great to have a place of support to come to when you are feeling down.

getting sick was a good thing in a way - ha ha. i still haven't binged. can y'all believe that?? no binge for the girl that was at a really low point. AND i feel better about myself. it's liek a miracle just happened to me. i feel better and i feel like i have such a healthy outlook. i think that another thing that has helped me, besides you girls of course, was just accepting myself and emailing kristin. i guess i'll always skeptical of talking to strangers because you just never know how genuine they are, but she has been so nice and helpful to me. it just feels good to have so much support.

hope everyone had a really nice Easter! mine was really good. glad you are feeling better purple and tomei - thanks for the suggestions you have found that have helped you. i always like hearing new things - and it's so true what you said aobut there always being an alternative to the things that you love that aren't good for you. i have found a lot of weird varieties of fav foods.

i also love what you said about it taking a long time to put on the weight. in the past, i think that one of the reasons that a "diet" never worked was bc i felt motivated, but after a few days of not physically seeing any changes i would start to get discouraged. i try to remind myself of that every day.

have a great day girls!
