Whew!

I made it through the post-vacation "I don't wannas!" :carrot:

Monday: AM stretches and crunches, got up the stairs at school without having to stop (woot!), PM stretches and 30 minutes on the elliptical. I had to really make myself stay on for the last five minutes, though... the bottoms of my feet REALLY hurt for some reason...

Happy Tuesday!

Hi, ladies! Good going with the exercise!! :hat:

I'm a little behind on my exercise. :( I didn't run on Monday (was too tired and cold after my two-hour walk), and I missed my exercise class last night.
I've got to get myself back on track and run today... :running:

dgpebbles 03-22-2006 08:24 AM

yesterday was great for me...I worked in the yard for 3 hours and worked out at the gym for 4 hours...I have passed up my march goal of 1000 mins...I'm at 1155 mins..

ellis- get those feet moving today

Lala-I'm with you about the elliptical.after about 15-20 min my feet start feeling numb and hurt some

Happy Spring to all! Here in Nebraska, spring brought us the first major snow since December. It hurt -- we had been having such a mild winter that we had pretty much forgotten where we were! Stores had to dig their shovels and salt out of storage. People acted crazy on the road, just like they usually do the first snow day of the year. But today the sun is out and the Big Melt has begun. Hopefully winter has departed for this year (ah, but this IS Nebraska!). Here is hoping to see March go OUT like a lamb next week!

As for exercise, here is what mine looks like:
March 1 -- 55 minutes functional fitness (TLT workout)
March 2 -- 60 minutes step aerobics
March 3 -- 50 minutes weight work w/aerobic intervals
March 4 -- 85 minutes (72 step/hi-low, 13 stretch)
March 5 -- intentional rest day
March 6 -- 54 minutes hi-low aerobics (48) and abs (6)
March 7 -- 60 minutes The Firm vol. 1
March 8 -- 60 minutes Firm cardio
March 9 -- 60 minutes functional fitness (TLT video)
March 10 -- 60 minutes step aerobics / Cathe
March 11 -- 84 minutes (35 step aerobics, 49 The Firm sculpting/weights)
March 12 -- scheduled rest day
March 13 -- 55 minutes step aerobics
March 14 -- 70 minutes circuit -- step/stability ball sculpting
March 15 -- 58 minutes step aerobics
March 16 -- 56 minutes (10 dance aerobics, 46 The Firm sculpting/weights)
March 17 -- 54 minutes step aerobics
March 18 -- 84 minutes (35 hi-lo aerobics, 49 stability ball TLT)
March 19 -- scheduled rest day
March 20 -- 49 minutes floor aerobics
March 21 -- 55 minutes functional fitness (TLT Strength in Movement)
March 22 -- 56 minutes hi-lo aerobics

Enjoy your sweating sessions!

Hi, girls!!

Donna, thanks for the kick yesterday... I really needed it.
I dragged myself onto the treadmill and did my run, and tonight I've got an exercise class.
You're doing GREAT! Lucky you doing yard work! I think spring is finally coming here. It's going up to 7C (45F) today, and I am THRILLED!! :)

I hope everyone has a great day... keep it up, girls!! :cheer: :cheer:

dalai_lala 03-23-2006 11:06 AM

Weeeellllll... a little bit of a wimp out yesterday. I did my morning routine just fine, and did a two mile walk with a friend in the afternoon, but completely skipped the PM stretch and the elliptical. :( I was so depressed and binge-y yesterday. I won't rehash it, I put up a little whiney post in the Chicks in Control forum, hehehehee...

Today seems better, though, already did my AM stretch and really didn't feel like eating at all (but I made myself have a little breakfast).

Happy Thursday!

ellis 03-23-2006 06:59 PM

Just got home from my weight class. I'm so crabby...

Ellis -

Tomorrow will be better!

ellis 03-24-2006 08:44 AM

Lala, thank you for the hug... you're such a sweetheart. :)
I'm still a little cranky because I weighed at the clinic last night, and no surprise, I haven't lost anything this week.
This morning I'm going back to the "sample sheet" of three days of meal plans that I was given at the start of my program. I've been slowly but surely getting off track with my food choices.
Lots of veggies and fruit and good things in store for me today.
Oh, and exercise. This IS the exercise thread, right?
Thanks again, Lala.

Let's get exercising, girls! :running:

dalai_lala 03-24-2006 08:44 AM

Thursday recap

I did very well yesterday (as a change from depression Wednesday!).

AM stretches, crunches (I bumped up to 120 from 100!), and dumbbells in the morning. PM stretches and 33 minutes on the elliptical in the evening. Boy, I felt the extra crunches by bedtime, though. Felt like I'd gotten punched in the ribs! Oh, and I added another thing to my morning routine... I don't know what it's called, but you get on all fours and raise a leg out to the side then pull it in as if you were sqeezing a thigh master (i know, i know, trademarked name, yada yada). I didn't feel much while I was doing it but when I got on the elliptical I could sure feel it in my glutes! Wow...

Happy Friday (woot! Friday!) everyone! :carrot:

-Lala

ellis 03-24-2006 08:45 AM

Lala, we do those leg thingys... my gosh, they are GREAT!! Good going, hon!! :cheer:

plb@m 03-25-2006 05:04 PM

Lala - Great job with the crunches!!!! I do some stretches after my crunches to help with the pain .

I'm going to start doing 200 crunches 5 days a week in April. 100 just isn't getting it done for me.

Glad to see everyone is doing so good with their exercise :cheer: :bravo:

dalai_lala 03-25-2006 06:54 PM

plb - Yeah, I'm working my way up. I started with just 50 back in February, can do at least 100 most days now, and try to push further when it doesn't feel like my ribs are going to pop! And you're right about the stretching. I do full body stretches just before, and sometimes during if it gets too painful, and then afterward too... since I'm lying on the floor anyway, right?

Let's see... Friday wasn't bad, but I had some... intestinal distress, so I took it a little easy. I did AM stretch and 100 crunches (I felt like barfing, though, so I stopped a lot), walked a couple of miles at school with a friend (thank goodness for Pepto!), then then did PM stretches and weights last night. I usually slack off on the weekends, so today I just did the AM stretch only, but I did have to spend about a half hour or so out in the yard digging up the sprinkler line (broken pipe). Hubby and I were talking about taking a walk later on tonight, so that'll be nice too.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

-Lala

ellis 03-26-2006 07:30 AM

plb@m, 200 crunches. Woof!!! :hat:
You should see my 10 year-old son's stomach. He's practically got a six-pack. He's all muscle, and it's because he NEVER stops moving! He loves sports, and does a lot of them, but even when he's just watching a movie or something he's in motion. I think that's our problem... we stopped moving.

Lala, I hope your tummy is better today.
Did you go for your walk with DH? I haven't walked with mine for a few days... he's got a terrible cough and cold, and he's been huddled in bed half the week.

I went to my exercise class yesterday. :) My ribs and legs are nice and sore. My shoulders and arms are no longer sore after I work out, and I think it's time I moved to a heavier weight for some of my exercises.

Today... I've got to do my run/walk. :running:

Have a great day, everyone! Happy exercising!! :lol3:

dalai_lala 03-26-2006 08:30 AM

Morning, everyone!

Nope, we didn't get to go for our walk last night. Hubby is trying to sell his car, so he was working on trying to get the last couple of things cleaned and fixed up. Just when I thought he was done and we were heading for dinner he pulls into Lowe's and has to buy a bolt for the seat and fiddle with that for a bit. It was 9 pm!!! before we had dinner, and of course I was starving... So, I'll be doing extra elliptical today.

-Lala

dgpebbles 03-26-2006 11:44 AM

went to the gym late last night after work and did 60 mins on elliptical and weights....I'm going to work in yard again today..I need to pull weeds for flower beds....I will go to gym later this afternoon.

ellis great job sticking to your classes..

Lala wow 200 crunchs...makes me hurt thinking about it..you go girl

ellis 03-27-2006 05:45 AM

Great job on the elliptical, Donna! :hat:
Hey, spring is here, too! Finally! I was able to do a little yard work on the weekend. It was SO good to be out in the fresh air. :)

I did my 20 minute walk/run yesterday. Ran 10 minutes straight!
And NOW I have a bad cough!! aaaaaaaaaaaargh!! This is so typical... I always get sick when I start doing well with exercise. Curses.

Lala, have fun on the elliptical today, hon. ;)

plb@m 03-27-2006 06:53 AM

WOW ! This month is flying by.
I'm thinking of new exercising goals . I'm getting sick of the elliptical and thinking of going down to 20mins 5 days a week ,but a need to come up with something else to take it's place .I need somethings that will keep me moving.

ELLIS-I hope that cough goes away and you feel better soon.

dalai_lala 03-27-2006 09:47 AM

Bad Lala!

Well, I kind of blew the weekend, exercise-wise. Saturday all I did was the AM stretching and some yardwork. Sunday I at least did the full morning routine: AM stretch, crunches, 5 lb dumbbells. And even though I promised myself I would, I never did my evening routine, even the stretching, and especially not the elliptical. Sigh...

Anyway, it's a new day, a new week, and I am getting back on track. I've already done the morning workout and am scheduled for an hour walk with my friend after class. I got my pedometer this weekend, so that should help. I am kind of hung up on beating previous numbers when I am counting something... or, at least, on pushing myself to the next round number.

Happy Monday everyone!

-La

FishWoman 03-28-2006 09:41 AM

I did the elliptical Friday and Sunday - took Saturday off and got some sleep in between running errands.

Yesterday I just walked. I am going to try to get to the gym tonight for some cardio, but I did 20 pushups and 100 crunches this morning before my shower!

Monday recap

Good job, fishwoman! I usually take Saturday or Sunday off... unfortunately both a little too frequently... but I do like to at least do my morning stretch 'cos it makes me feel good.

Monday-
AM stretch, crunches, 5 lb dumbbells. Afternoon walk for an hour at school. PM stretch, upper body weights. And now that I have my pedometer, I logged over 15,000 steps for Monday. I take short steps, apparently, so that works out to a little over 3 miles (at least a mile of it running to the bathroom, ;) if I had to guess)...

Happy Tuesday!

-Lala

ellis 03-29-2006 07:53 AM

ugh! I've been in bed for two whole days! :yikes: I'm still really sick with this cough, but my exercise for today is getting out of bed, walking to the store for some detergent, and throwing in some laundry! Gotta start small!

There was no way I could make it to my exercise class last night. I had no idea my DH was so sick when he had this. When he laid in bed for days, I thought he was just being sensible. I didn't know he couldn't physically get OUT of bed!!
I know this cough is one of those "lasts for weeks" things, but I'm crossing my fingers, and hoping I can get to my exercise class tomorrow night. :crossed:

Good going with the exercise, girls... keep it up!! :cheer:

plb@m 03-29-2006 08:26 AM

Ellis- I hope you feel better soon.

My exercise has been a little off lately because of asthma and back pain , but today is a new day!! Time to make my goals!!!:cb: Albuterol in one hand pain pill in the other and away I go !!

dalai_lala 03-29-2006 09:23 AM

Tuesday recap

 to Ellis! What a bummer... I am prone to terrible coughs and it can be so hard on your body... sore ribs and stomach... take good care of you!

And plb, good luck to you too, and don't OVERdo it! You don't want to get stuck in bed, too!

Me, I've got no excuse. I actually sat here on my big butt last night, bored, wondering what to do... and never got up to do the elliptical last night. How lame! We had family in, we were heading out to 7 pm dinner reservations, but I had hours... hours, to get up and do something. I'm pretty disappointed in myself. Sigh... I did do my morning routine, stretches, crunches, dumbbells, etc, so at least I did something, plus 6920 steps.

Well, there's always today...

Happy Wednesday!

-Lala

FishWoman 03-29-2006 10:40 AM

Thank you, girls! I had the most wicked headache yesterday, along with my cough. Suddenly, around 8pm, this bell went off in my head. Caffeine! I'd had none all day! I swigged a couple (okay, four) glasses of diet pop, and BINGO! Headache gone.
Unfortunately I was awake until 3 in the morning. :lol3:
I'm feeling pretty peppy this morning! Still coughing and sneezing like crazy, but at least I have energy! :hat:

You're all doing so well. Hey, it's almost April!!

plb@m, I'm sorry about the pain and asthma. :( I hope you're feeling better soon.

Lala, come along, my dear. Let's you and I do a little exercise today, eh? :grouphug:

Fishwoman, looks like this is going to be a big-number month for you, girl!! :cheer:

Going to do laundry and look at my treadmill... :running:

dalai_lala 03-30-2006 09:31 PM

Wednesday & Thursday recap

Weds was better, yay! I did AM stretch, crunches, dumbells, then PM stretch and the elliptical.

Today wasn't bad, either. I missed the morning stuff because I got a call from the person who is going to come appraise our house for our refinancing. She's coming tomorrow, so I had some work to do! :D But this evening I did PM stretch, crunches, and the elliptical.

Thanks for the encouragement Ellis! And I'm glad you're feeling better... woo hoo for caffeine! :coffee: I have no less than three shirts (plus a coffee mug!) with the caffeine molecule emblazoned on them.... why? 'Cos I'm a nerd...

Good work all you hardworking chicks!

-La

ellis 03-30-2006 10:36 PM

Lala, I'm so glad you got your exercising in! It feels so good (afterwards), doesn't it? :)
I'm with you on the java. That's one thing I refuse to give up!! :coffee:
Good luck with the refinancing. Money is such a headache. I could use about 40 grand right about now.

I went to my exercise class!! :hat: I accidentally got the time wrong, so I had to wait around and do the harder class. I did 20 minutes of fast walking on the treadmill while I waited (still a bit too wheezy to run). The class was SUCH a killer, but I did it, and I feel fabulous! :)

dalai_lala 03-31-2006 08:10 AM

Wow, Ellis, so you did the harder class and still felt faboo! That's great... especially since you weren't feeling completely better yet..

dgpebbles 03-31-2006 08:46 AM

hello everyone....I'm doing great...I missed the gym on wed cause of work but I made it yesterday...I have an appointment tomorrow with a trainer...It's a one time free session where they go over goals, food and they show you how to do a few of the weight machines correctly...ALSO they will messure your body fat %....Thats the main reason I'm doing it..kinda scary to find out but I still want to know....I will let you know how it goes..

ellis- great job going for the harder class and congrats on making it through it...and 20 min on treadmill too...I know when your sick it's hard to get moving...great job just don't do too much till you feel better....we don't want you getting worse...

Lala- great job keeping you your routine...Maybe I should start doing some stretching too...I only do very little right before I workout but I bet that AM stretch really gets you feel ing good and ready to start the day...

Fishwoman- Your doing great with those crunches and all that walking...keep it up

dalai_lala 03-31-2006 09:43 AM

Hi Donna- I love, love, love the stretching. I feel sooooo good, plus it acts as a bit of a gateway to real exercise for me. It's easy to make myself get up and stretch, then, I'm already in my workout gear and moving, so I might as well exercise... I got a good book, Stretching by Bob Anderson. It's been out forever and is a staple of the exercise section in bookstores, but you should be able to find it at the library too. It's good to stretch properly so that you don't hurt yourself.

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I will have my grand total tonight, after whatever I do to work out, but this is going to be a hard month to beat!

Although, I just realized the other day that my alleged 40 minutes of walking was not accurate - it only takes me 15 minutes to get to the subway, not 20. I am going through and dropping all those times down.:o

Fishwoman - Maybe you are making better time to the subway now than at the beginning of the month? Maybe it's easier because your stamina has improved? I dunno, just a thought!

Congrats everyone on all of your hard work! Let's have a fantastic April!
