    9. Suck it Up or Stay Fat
  • Quote: Its pretty long but it really inspires me...

"I Will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I CAN condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am NOT lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person. I WILL ACT NOW!" -OG Mandino

  • "Get comfortable with discomfort." It does wonders when I'm exercising.
  • "nothing tastes as good as lean feels"
  • "Your body is the baggage you must carry for life. Having excess baggage, the shorter the trip!" - evilwoman

This one made me think of the baggage fees they charge now, so not only shorter the trip, but the excess baggage will cost you more!

    I love quotes, I could read them all night...but I shouldn't...

  • Well, this isn't so much a quote as it is a thought.....when I am about to eat something that I know is bad for me and I'm in the middle of that moment of temptation, I ask myself: "Will you regret passing this up by tomorrow? Will you look back and wish you had eaten it?"

Clearly the answer is always "no". It reminds me that outside of that moment is the future, and my future self is always happy that my present self has made a good choice.
  • Quote: There's no such thing as an ugly woman, just a lazy one

This one always motivates me to work a little harder! (:
That's really good, I'm going to remember that when I'm on the treadmill!
  • I thought this thread was really worth resurrecting. Take the time to read. One quote was all I needed to prevent a binge.
  • This is a great thread!

So, this first one I got from a beloved family member and I think it is so true in terms of weight loss:

"Life is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration!"

This one I learned in grammar school,

"The only difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is the way that use them."

I adore quotes and I hope you like those.
  • Well THE phrase that set me on a successful weight loss journey of 100 lbs (after being overweight and never trying to lose the weight for 17 yrs) was Albert Einsteins:
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

That alone was an epiphany (DUH) and a light bulb going off in my head and i got the courage to change my eating habits.

Right now as i am in maintenance, someone posted on 3FC:
    "I am not a victim!"

So i'll pull that one out and tell myself that if i want to eat something junky on my none cheat day and am feeling rather sorry for myself or if i want to eat and am not truly hungry
  • Thanks
Quote: My favorite quote is from Dr. Phil. He was talking about overeating at the time. "You are not four years old. You can tell yourself NO!"
THIS is the one that helped me cut my binges 6 days ago. Thank you!
  • I saw this one the other day and it really relates to my journey.
"This is not about going back. This is about your life being ahead of you and you run at it!! Because you never know how far you can run UNLESS YOU RUN!!"
-Diane lane in the movie "Secretariat"
  • I really liked a couple of these quotes. I am going to try to read something in this website once a day. I keep looking for a quick, easy way to loose weight and keep it off and while I hold out hope for this in the future I don't know of any solution that fits these criteria now. So, that is my short term goal, just today on this website and grateful for all the posts.
  • Subscribed. When I really struggle with sticking to it this time hopefully I'll remember to come back and look at these inspiring quotes
