Default Weight vs. size

Hi all - just need to rant a little. It's occured to me today that maybe part of my problem stems from this association between weight and size. As you can see from my signature, I'm at 160 right now and comfortably into a size 9. What you don't see is that I'm 5'3" and beginning to wear size 7.

This was so terribly exciting for me, but the response I get from people is "how can you be that short, weigh that much, and get into that size - it's impossible." Isn't it possible to be thin without weighing 110 pounds?

Every time I hear those kinds of discussions - like "she says she's thin, but she's 5'5" and weighs 150? She's not thin" I want to scream and yell and jump up and down until someone wakes up and gets the real picture. If I listen to what they're all saying, then I'll be a skeleton before I'm "thin"

Just had to vent.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

People often times don't take into consideration just how much more muscle weighs than fat, and how much leaner you look with it! I had a friend who was 5'5", 140 pounds, and a size 4, when I was 5'4", 140 pounds, and a size 10. It's definately the inches that count, NOT the number on the scale!

That said, lucky you [[though I'm sure you must exercise, etc!]] I'm currently 166 pounds and a size 14...but I'm a wimp

Thank you so much for your support! I got chewed out by another member on this forum and told I was a liar because there's no way a person can weight what I do and wear what I do without squeezing into the clothes.

Argh! I've been working so hard to lose the weight without the laxatives and without throwing up that it just really pisses me off to get that kind of attitude from people.

Needless to say - dinner was difficult tonight.
