I love green tea and did not know this. Thank you for sharing this! I am definitely going to start drinking it starting today. Next time I go to the store, I am going to buy some. Next time I go grocery shopping, which will be tomorrow or the next day, I am going to buy some more and buy some lemon and try that in my water to be able to drink more water. Thanks for the tips!

When I'm bored and feeling munchy I like to use hot drinks like green tea to fill up instead, but I haven't noticed if it works differently than other hot drinks.

I'll have to give this a try. I love tea, and tend to binge after work when I'm home alone. Maybe I can replace that with tea to help avoid the trigger!

I just got on here because I am having as I write an urge to eat pretzels. I decided to see if there was a post on cravings, and I found this.

I will go and have a cup of green tea and see if that helps.

Could other people list other things that have worked for them to remove cravings?

I have to do a lot of work that requires sitting. It is also tedious. This is one of my times that I start craving food. I think I hate having to sit and do the work, so I am trying to keep myself pacified through food.

Do any of you ever break free from cravings? I would love to. I feel like a junkie.

My weakness is chocolate so I just grab an apple of and orange when I want chocolate. The sweetness of the fruit seems to satisfy my craving.

I make bottles of green tea once a week, I add lemon and no sugar. I drink a bottle of that green tea a day.

I don't drink green tea because it tastes horrible to me lol, but I do drink peppermint. I don't use it to stop cravings/urges to overeat (I just sit through my urges as they are, I don't do anything to try to get rid of them). But I do find that if I drink tea while I'm having an urge it makes me feel more calm so they're easier to sit through.

In my opinion trying to "remove cravings" is the wrong approach. You can never count on removing cravings 100% of the time (if ever, because for some people I'm sure the green tea thing doesn't work) because they're an automatic conditioned reaction from your brain in response to stimuli.

It's a much better strategy to learn how to sit with your cravings until they pass without fighting against them. Plus this works every time rather than just sometimes, and requires no external remedies.

I am seriously glad some of you have found that green tea works for you. I cannot drink the stuff at all. I cannot get past the taste, which is what I imagine old lawn clippings and yard waste would taste like after a month in the compost bin.

I am having a bear of a time with cravings and the only thing I can do is stock the fridge with healthy food to binge on. I have several large cucumbers, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, strawberries, kiwis, lettuce and maybe some other stuff floating around in there. I know I will binge at some point, but if I have fruit and veggies at hand, I am not doing nearly as much damage as if I attack the boys' Easter chocolate.
