Angry anger binge

I haven't given in ... yet. But, I really wanted to. I got angry, it doesn't matter why, and my immediate thought was to eat anything I could get my hands on. I have a small box of good chocolates that I keep because for the occasional craving I can eat just one and be satisfied. I have only eaten one out of the box up to this point. I am seriously considering just giving it to the kids and letting them eat it so that the temptation isn't there tonight.

Hopefully posting this will give me the accountability factor I need to make it through this. I am also cruising the maintainers and goal pages to remind myself what I am working toward.

Wish me luck. This is the first time I have felt a strong need to binge since I made the commitment to lose the weight this time. If I can make it through this one, I'll have the confidence to make it through any others that come up.

Don't do it. Just don't! You'll just feel more angry.

It is hard though, when something makes me mad sometimes my first thought is "screw this, I'm going to eat junk food" - and then it's like talking a suicidal jumper off a ledge for a while.

Thank you. I think I've made it. I'm going to bed in a few minutes and I didn't give in. I ended up going to the grocery store. I know, it's a weird thing to do when you're wanting to binge. But, it got me out of the house. I decided to treat myself to a salad bar style salad. I really love those. I don't have them very often because I'm the only one in the house that eats them and most of the stuff goes bad before I use it all. So, I went to the store to get all the stuff I needed and while I was there I bought myself a new water bottle as a reward for replacing the need to binge with a healthy alternative.
Yay me! I did it. Now I'm full from my big 'ol salad and have no desire to binge. Happy dance!

Kudos to you for resisting the urge to binge AND finding a way to subsituting it with something healthy. And on top of that, realizing that when you do subsitute, the binge cravings go away. That is WONDERFUL and you should be so proud of yourself!

Now, get rid of those chocolates!

I'm glad you got through this & feel good now that you're on the other side of it.

Now the next step is not turning to food at all -- no, not even a healthy salad -- but rather doing something completely unrelated to food & groceries. Or perhaps doing nothing at all except white-knuckling it through.

I have binged on healthy food & on non-caloric food, so I know the problem for me is the behavior, not the stuff consumed.

Personally, I just don't want to keep seeing food as the solution or the distraction. Any kind of food at all.
