Morning everyone. We woke up to snow here in Denver - only about 4" but I hate the stuff. My normal 12 minute commute was 40 minutes.
I think this cold is slowly going away. I have a vacation day scheduled tomorrow since Monday is a holiday at work - I work for a national bank and we're closed. I have dust bunnies of my own to get rid of. My cute adorable little kitty has a new habit -- she chews on the newspaper and shreds it all over the house. So I have a lot to clean up.
I'm hoping by Tuesday to have the cold gone enough that I can go back to the gym. A week off has been too much for me!
Morning everyone. We woke up to snow here in Denver - only about 4" but I hate the stuff. My normal 12 minute commute was 40 minutes.
I'm up in Longmont, and we got about 6 inches. I love the snow though.. My husband works in Commerce City, and his usual 40 minute commute was nearly 2 hours.
Enjoy your vacation day off. The weather should be warmer by Tuesday, if I remember right. I'm going to suck it up and go to the gym later when he get's home.
Falon: Welcome Congrats on stopping the dust bunnies!!
Robin: Ok. You're not going to let that one go are you?
Susan: Glad to hear the cold is almost gone. The drive sounds nasty--glad you made it ok!
Lacey: Cool quote. Hard to think of shorts season when I'm looking at "blizzard warning" signs flashing!! Just tucked the kids in their snowgear for the 5 minutes they'll last "playing" outside.
Decided it's time to make an appointment for the chiropractor. It's either that or lose weight Ok. Seriously....realized that when I had lost weight the tension in my shoulders/neck disappeared due to the exercising. So even though I'm stiffer than a board (not funny as I really canNOT move my head and even sitting up causes pain) I'm going to do the 1 mile WATP as it's not super strenuous and will hopefully stretch the kinks out. So I imagine I need to get dressed (still in my pj's) to do that On a down note--didn't get water in. And I ate a bunch of carrots. But DH didn't take the candy to work so it was either the carrots or candy and this time I DID make the wiser choice
no, and you know why? Cuz I can picture you and I in a change room someplace arguing over whether or not the bras we have tried on make our boobs look pointy!! Makes me giggle just thinking about it.
Hockey~ feel better soon....hopefully it wont drag on like it did for me. My dh got over it in about a week. Feel better
Brenda~ the chiro, is probably a good idea. Even if its just once to get the kinks out.
I just got back from the gym, did my work out........but Im too tired now to clean gonna have to show dh how to use a vacuum!! ya right!!
No time must go meet PT but Welcome fallon!! had to laugh at the fornicatin bunnies in your house.
I have at work many birds and I have two placed right out side of my office and they go at it every day. and well yesterday my boss was there and they started, and I know the sound well and right in the middle of our conversation they started. she who is very proper was amazed OOOHHH theat is how they do it. HHHHHMMMM she is up right too. Look at them they make such funny noises. WOW I almost pped my pants i was laughing so hard. So here I am imangining you and your dust bunnies
Robin: WTG on working out. The cleaning'll get done and ya know it :P And that is too funny about arguing about who's pointier. You can win
Leenie: How's it going?
Lacey: I read the quote but didn't read who did it. I've heard great things about that lady but have never read her works (and she has a tv show, yes?)
Sue: Oh too funny about the birds. Did you laugh in front of her or wait until she left?
Yesterday was a so-so success. Stayed away from the chocolate but DID eat a bunch of carrots. I just needed something crunchy. But now remember WHY I don't eat tons of carrots. lol. Need to work on that and the water. I exercised though 1 mile WATP...PLUS I went outside and shoveled snow. I didn't give up soda like I said I was going to. Trying SO hard to figure out how to do it. Seems every time I go to a store I buy one. ARGH! Well, we'll see what exercise does to the mix. Maybe if I get the exercise in AND water (I know, gotta work on that as well) it'll be ok. Time will tell. But I FEEL better having done better yesterday than before. So I'm on the right track. Neck is a little better but still needs a good "crack" if you know what I mean. School delay today so I'm off to go get the kids ready for school now.
Snowing here again today, and I swear I want a big 'ol cup of hot chocolate! It's a whopping 5 degrees out, and I would love nothing more than a steaming cup. Guess i'll have a cup of Lady Gray tea instead.
Sue: So birds are fornicating outside your office window eh? I can only imagine what it was like with your boss' facination at the process. I would have peed myself too! LOL
Yesterday I picked up my calorie count, and worked on measuring. Man does that suck, but gotta try and get myself kicked back into gear. Still no dairy, and it kills me because I hate black coffee. I also cut out veggies other than salad. I'm gonna give it another few days, and if nothing changes, i'll do the fat fast.
Ever have those times when you think you might be losing inches (not measuring yourself) and then you believe it's all in your head? LOL
Ok, and a 1 second gripe here:
My husband started back to low carb 1 week after me.. and has exceeded me by 6 pounds! Ugh! I hate male metabolism.. at least his anyhow.
Brenda~ I truly believe, we have to work up to 100% op. So getting at least one of your goals in a day, makes for a better day the next. You're doing good.
Falon~ sounds like you're doing good!! Shouldnt be too long now
Sue~
Super windy here today, they are calling fore hurricane gust winds today So we wont be going too far. Then the snow is suppose to come in behind it. Right now it looks like a beautiful spring day with lots of wind. Its amazing how fast the weather changes around here.
Not much happening around here today.........have a good one ladies
Well here where I live in California, I've never really seen it snow, other than once when we could see it coming out of the sky, and could catch the flakes on a blanket, but couldn't see them on the ground (ground was too warm and they melted immediately). But they are saying we might get some this weekend. Temp is down to about 36 and it is raining so maybe... Normally when it gets cold enough to snow there is no rain and when the rain comes, it warms up. So I'll believe it when I see it. I'd LIKE to see some, but not holding my breath.
Falon, you mentioned thinking you are losing inches and then wondering if you are imagining it? I do that too. In fact even when measuring I sit and worry that I'm not measuring the same spot as I did last time. With our bodies not being cones, but more like round pyramids, it is easily possible to measure just a little above or below where you measured last time and get a false reading. Talk about being perfectionistic! I even do it with the fat calipers. I suspect that I'm pinching differently or in a different spot than before.
One thing that doesn't really lie is your clothes though. You can definitely tell when you are able to fit in something you couldn't before, or when something that used to hug you tightly is now looser.
That's funny about the birds. The first time I saw two birds going at it, I was fascinated. I was in junior high on my way to school and I saw these two birds on a porch railing. I stopped to watch, and the male was dancing around the female, making all sorts of showing off motions. When she finally thought he had shown off enough, she lowered herself so that her back was flat and he jumped onto her back. It was only then that I understood what they were up to. I couldn't figure out what the male was doing before that.
Falon I think you should relax and trust the process. You have to be losing fat if you are in ketosis. The one thing I might do is to check my salt levels. Maybe you are taking in too much salt. If not then just keep your food volume reasonably low and keep grains out of the equation. And just confidently wait. You'll probably have a big whoosh all at once when that water you are holding onto decides to leave.
I used to always mess myself up when I would start on Atkins. I would be doing really well with the process, but be extremely frustrated with the results. As a result, I would start stressing, wondering what I was doing wrong, and before long I would just want to throw in the towel and give up. This time I told myself I wouldn't do that, and every time I got to where you are, I would just hold on a little longer. I've been rewarded several times for that persistence. The weight does eventually decide to leave.
I am passed the change this time though so I think that makes it easier. It was much harder to tell myself to just hang on when Tom started creating those female hormones to add into the mix. I would always go higher before my period and usually reach a new low, just after. Men are lucky. They don't have to deal with such stuff. Don't ever compare yourself to a man or try and compete with him in the weight loss area. That is a sure recipe for frustration.
My scale is up again today. I think it will go back down in a couple of hours, but I went to bed without dinner last night, so I expected to see a better number today.
My daughter is getting ready to start high school, and they have all these weird new options for what she can learn. Plus the high school she will be attending is right next door to the Junior College, so she can take classes at the college too if she wants to. So here with her 14, we have to decide what sort of career path she may want to embark on as she gets older. Talk about being thrown a curve at a weird time. We went last night to an orientation at her high school, to ask questions etc. It took like 2 hours (from 7 to 9) and so I didn't wind up making dinner like I would have. It is a neat school though. The oldest in the city, been there since the 1800s. Old brick building. I think the school has been featured in a lot of movies, or looks like a lot that I've seen on movies anyway. Peggy Sue Got Married was filmed partly there I know, probably others too.
Some of the programs and options they have for educating the kids were way more than I've ever heard of for a high school, so I was pleased. They even have an agricultural program and have live animals on the campus. I thought that was interesting. I am glad we went to the meeting. I learned a lot more about the school, and it made me glad that is the one she'll be going to.
Sherry, I'm sending you my snow. When I lived in Arizona, it snowed one year right before Christmas - same as yours. I still have the video tape of it falling on the cacti in my yard.
I had a bad day yesterday. I ate chocolate at lunch and then had McDonald's fries for dinner -- that was it -- only fries. Back to the drawing board today! I'm using being sick as an excuse and I can't do that.
I found a way to get my chocolate in... Viactive multivitamins they are little chocolate squares which is perfect cause I hate pills especially vitamins.
