Default Hi all!

Is it okay for me to just say hello? This is my first post here. I have been on Atkins before but have been off for a while and I weigh 30 pounds more than I did when I went off it a few years ago. I started again - this is my 3rd day. Any of you out there who have been off Atkins for a while and gained a bunch of weight back? Did you do as well when you got back on it after a long period of time? Thanks! I'm so glad to have found you all!

Welcome Becky!!! Sounds like you're off to a great start. I haven't been "off" the plan totally. I've gone off it for like a week, then hopped back on. It was a struggle (even before I went off the plan) and yes, I gained weight. Discovered 3 pounds in just that week! Amazing isn't it? Join us on the daily chat and keep up the good work!!

Welcome Beckie. I've been on Atkins' WOE (way of eating) for 4-1/2 years now...faultered for a while that turned into what seemed like an imperfect year. Now I'm back on for a couple of months like I never missed a beat. I can say it's been the easiest plan I've ever been on, and to get back on.

Glad you're here!

Welcome, Beckie! I have never been off of Atkins for a long period of time, but I have been off for a week or two. It's always easy to hop back on plan and start losing weight again. I look forward to getting to know you.

Hello Becky,

Just like you I went off Atkins for a long period of time. I actually was off plan for a year. Also the second time around, everything is different. The first time I was on Atkins I lost like 10 lbs my first week & I had so much energy I was driving everyone nuts. I normally am a pretty high strung person anyways so to be more so they all wished I could be on Riddalin !! Now I have been back on Atkins for almost a week now. I am encountering a slower weight loss this time, the energy hasnt come yet & a couple other things I didnt have first time around. I was a little upset thinking that it wasnt going to work but alas today I have noticed that I did drop weight. I wont weigh myself until day 14 of Induction. I plan on staying on Induction at least 3 months. I am so glad though I found Atkins. I have tried diets of all kinds, pills, weight loss centers, but it was all short term loss. Atkins is a great lifestyle. Its the only thing that has never made me hungry, or feel like I was "missing" out. The energy is so great to once you have it. After Induction the first time around I could have cared less about carbs. I also read a few of the books. That helps more then you know. Please feel free to IM me anytime. And welcome back to Atkins !!

Default I'm new,too Beckie Boo

Hey there,
I did Atkins years ago, and after I had my gall bladder removed, under the direction of a doctor who told me to do straight induction for a month. I lasted three weeks and lost fifteen pounds! I have been on and off again for years because I have no will power, even though the diet totally makes sense when compared to all the others. I recently realized it's a frame of mind. Thank you, Dr. Phil. You have to 'chose' to lose weight, and 'chose' to stick with it. It's only day three for me, but I avoided comfort food during a crisis today because I really really want to reach my ideal weight, once and for all. One of the reasons I didn't stick with it before is because I have no gall bladder and had severe heartburn and abdominal problems. I have started taking Nexium for it and fiber supplements and so far so good. We'll have to stick together and go the whole way since we're starting approximately the same time.
Oh, my mom lost fifty pounds this year doing Atkins and is on her way to losing fifty more, so we know it works if we stick with it.
Glad to find others in the same sitch!

Hi CoCo!

That's so great that you passed up the comfort food today during a stressful time when you would normally eat it! That's awesome! That's exactly what we have to do - take it one day at a time and make good choices and we'll get there! This time, I am not going to get obsessed about weighing myself every day. I read a great article about why the scale lies. Have you read it? It really explains a lot.

You're going to do great! Let me know how you are doing.

Dawn,

Are you really planning to stay on Atkins for 3 months? Have you done that before? I think it's a great idea to not weigh yourself until day 14. I would have a hard time waiting that long but it then we could focus less on the stupid scale and more on the way our clothes fit, etc.

I'm losing weight more slowly this time as well and having a bit less energy. Maybe our bodies will adjust and we'll do better than we did the first time(s).

I'm really looking forward to talking with all of you more as I travel down this road again. The support here is so nice! I think I will take you up on your offer to IM you. I'll have to add that info. to my profile. Thanks again!

Hello again Becky,

It looks like we are in the same boat with slower weight loss & energy. The first time around for me I had energy sky high by like day 3. I also lost weight faster. I have lost weight, just slower. Yes I plan on staying on Induction at least 2-3 months bc I have alot of weight to lose. Everyone tells me I do not look like I weigh 220 pounds even though I am short. I am kind of "endowed" in the front so everyone thinks my weight is there. Its funny to them but not me. I would love to lose half of what I have !! But I know the truth about my weight. When I battled a disease, the doctor told me the heavier I was, the chances were high I would get it again. Its a little frustrating things are slower this time, but thier happening. Actually I can get up easier in the morning. I use to hit the snooze like 10 times. Now I can wake up at 6:30 am no problem & thats only hitting snooze twice.

I look forward to hearing from you.
