The concept escapes me on how one gets used to that. I think I'll remain as I am

Well, guys, I went to my post op yesterday and I read the 20/20 line! I have never been able to do that - even with contacts. OMG I almost started crying right there! What an amazing thing!

Star, that's too cool. I plan on (or at least hope to) have that surgery done one day. I'm practically blind in one eye (I can't even read the "E"!). Pain sounds scary though. Like many guys, I'm just a baby when it comes to pain

Ah, Hoot, don't be scared! If you qualify for Lasik, it's practically painless. It's just a little itchy the first day. My left eye didn't qualify for that because of too much correction needed with not enough tissue to work with. And that was painful, but only for about 2 days. Totally worth it!

True, Princess. I know I should get it done, and I plan to in about a year or so. And it's not like I haven't experienced pain before (heck, I'm only 30 and have had 4 kidney stones already ), so if I have to go through more pain, I may as well get something positive out of it, such as never having to wear contacts again.

Kidney stones? OMG you poor guy! I had a roomate in college that had those. It was terrible for her!

This is nothing compared to that!

Yeah, kidney stones are bad, but I can think of at least ONE thing that women have to go through that's infinitely worse.

Yes, but babies are more fun than little pieces of "gravel"

OK.. how did that happen! I had a huge post...and now it is gone...

WOO HOO Star!! I am so excited for you! I am such a big baby with pain I dont know if I could ever do it! DH needs it badly... some day...

Out of sheer curiosity.. how do they keep your eyes open through this. You should see me with the glaucoma test.. the doctor laughs at me every time! I just cannot keep those eyes open!

Oh, they give you no choice! They tape your eyelashes back and then put some sort of a ring around your eye to keep you from blinking. It sounds gross and freaky, but they also have you on valium or something similar and it really does go fast. I think I was in and out in under 5 minutes.

I don't know. Being blonde and unable to wear eye makeup for a week or two makes it impossible to see them anyway.

I HATE not having eye makeup on!
