YES, that is MSG! I have ended up in the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack, the doctors thinking the same...all to end up from sensitivity from MSG. I do still eat at chinese buffets now and then, but drink alot of water before during and after. The reaction is at its worse when your hydration level is low. Mexican restaurants do the same to me, in fact that is what put me in the hospital, a plate of chicken burritos.

I noticed last week when I went to China Buffet that even tho I made good choices I just felt like crap afterwards, for like 24 hours. My body has adjusted well to primal and does not want to be messed with!

Sandy, get the DH an "I love you" gift! get a carb count book, and a journal or a little notebook. Maybe even his own copy of the Primal book!...wrap it all up pretty then tell him. "I love you dearly, but I need you to take control on this if you want to do it. I have my hands full babysitting myself. I know you can do this, and you will feel great, and in time we will feel great and be healthier together, but right now it is every man for himself!" Share with him that this WILL make your journey easier, but right now you cannot be distracted.

My DH is doing primal too, and he loves to blame ME for things he cannot have. LIke he will ask if he can have ice cream and I will give him the look, then he calls me diet natzi. But what ever, if he wants to blame me I really dont give a rats butt.

So let me clarify, do we want a seperate forum for "Whats On Your Plate" or within this forum? Im game for either.

Yesterday:
8am-10am 3 cups black coffee
10am bowl of veg curry soup,
2pm bowl of veg curry soup
7pm steak, roasted cauliflower
8pm Iced Americano 6 shot with a shot of cream

although the veg curry soup has fat in it from the coconut milk, and protien, it was not enough to keep me satisfied, but as soon as I had that steak I was fine. Part of the hunger during the day could have been stress, but I think was mostly becasue of not enough protien. I have rarely been hungry for the last 3 weeks

For the day I had 1457 cals, 32 grms carbs I dont track every day, I have been tracking every 5-6 days just to make sure I am where I think I am.

BOB, we are thinking about you! Hoping you are feeling better. Remember we are here NO matter what is going on, we are here when you are shedding 20 pounds in a month, we are here when you are stalled, here when you are sick, here when you are feeling your best!

MikkiJoe,

You are right, of course, and I will try it. I used to have a carb counter around here somewhere. I guess I needed to vent. When I am just holding on myself, I feel that I cannot hold up another. It wouldn't be any good anyway. DH is very disciplined in many ways and I think if I show him the improvements in my numbers (when they come) that will do more to motivate him that any "tracking" for him that I could do. We all have to do this for ourselves. There is no blame here.

PS - I sent Bob a pm a while back but he did not respond. I do not want to bug him as he may be on to another solution for himself but I am actually worried he's in the hospital or something.

It might be easier if we keep the "what did we eat" in this thread as MikkiJoe just did. What do you all think?

Hello all. Have not posted in a bit. DS is still having a hard time. All the meds & not enough calorie intake. I feel like I am force feeding him today. He has eaten more this morning then he has all weekend. Its a bit difficult to take care of him while taking care of the daycare kids. I am looking forward to the long weekend. With the stress I have dropped down to 139.

Tyma -- Stress makes you lose weight? Makes me gain

Bob -- Hope all is well

MSG -- SUCKS!!! I wish I could be allergic to more foods, then maybe I wouldn't have this weight problem....

I think incorporating what we eat in this one thread is a better idea... Then we don't have to toggle from one thread to another...

Today so far:

-- peach, whey protein, coconut milk shake ... that was really, really good
-- peach, walnuts, whey powder
-- chicken leg, broccoli, coleslaw...

Today I have eaten and plan to eat...
6 strips of uncured bacon, plum, black coffee, water
taco salad (shredded lettuce, yellow peppers, onions with taco-spiced grass-fed ground beef and hot sauce), mexican cheese, 6 strawberries, water
cod fish-sticks (homemade using almond flour) and asparagus in butter, water
evening snack of yogi tea/green tea with stevia

Sandy, oh trust me girl, I hear your pain! I have my own issues with DH and weight loss....I get furious when he loses faster than I do! But it is often easier to see the big picture when someone else helps you paint it a little!

Almond four--did you make it yourself? DH bought a small bag the other day and it was over $10! holy crap. Then he did not even use it. He ground almonds, and a little unsweetened coconut and used as a coating for chicken strips, with egg and coconut milk first. They were good....ehh kinda

I did use some alm flour, egg, agave necter and coconut milk to make a cobbler topping ontop of some fresh peaches simmering in butter and cinnamon in the cast iron skillet, then popped it in the oven, it was .......ehh OK. I think I would rather do without.

I am perfectly happy with a cup of mint tea and a square of 83% chocolate!

I am using the Honeyville Grain flour recommended by elanaspantry.com. 29.95 for 5 lbs. online from Amazon. I have Amazon Prime so everything ships in 2 days free. (I buy a lot from Amazon as I do not like shopping anymore.)

Elana is a gluten-free pastry expert. I want to try out some treat recipes for DH. He loves cake but hates artificial sweeteners so that may be a challenge. Even if I use evaporated cane-juice for him it might be better than what he is eating now. I am happy with stevia.

I have eaten some 85% chocolate, Lindt brand. It tastes sweeter and sweeter everytime. The first time I tried it, I spit it out. Oh how our tastes buds are changing. I used to put sugar on my strawberries 'cause they were not sweet enough. Not any more! I love it!

Just for clarification, corn is usually a no-no on primal, isn't it, since it's a grain?

What did you get at chinese buffet? My partner and I used to go way more than we should've, but I always got breaded and/or sweet-sauced dishes. I'm trying to think of what primal options would be. He'd be happy with being able to go to chinese buffet once in a while. I didn't think there'd be anything primal-friendly.

This sounds goooood. Can I have the recipe? One thing I would love to figure out how to imitate is the Amy's Thai Coconut (Tom Kha Phak) soup. Love loooove that soup (minus the tofu, even as a vegetarian. The cats loved it, though.).

Holy moly! I've always gotten Trader Joe's almond flour for $4-something for a 1 lb bag.

Yum! I get the Lindt 90% cocoa. Oh, and I found some 85% dark cocoa bars at Aldi the other day, for a little over $1.50 per bar. I think the Lindt ones are about $3 per bar.

Oooo it's September!

First I'll tell ya what I made for supper last night and then I'll see about the new thread.

Chicken breast cut in chunks, half an onion, a handful of sliced mushrooms and as much swiss chard as I could fit in my fry pan. Lot's of bacon grease, butter and garlic. I sauteed each until it was pretty much done and then mixed it all together to heat through.

Here we go!

I had baked chicken, oysters boiled in black bean sauce, bok choy, boiled shrimp in their shells, etc., olives from their salad bar (which somehow seems like a sidedish to me - their taste is a nice counterpoint to the meats for me) and salad veggies. I did have maybe 5 small bites of other things which was my MSG downfall, I think. Or else the bok choy had MSG in it.

Chinese buffets CAN be primal if you're careful not to get anything sauteed because they undoubtedly use industrial seed oils. I always avoid all breaded things like the plague.

But -- as with buffets everywhere -- it's easy to overeat with all that food staring at you in the face.
