Our super walmart has both 8th continent and silk unsweetened. The silk unsweetened comes in a green carton if that helps.

A lot of times the unsweetened soy is located in the market in one of the shelf areas. It does not have to be refrigerated. Look in the natural food section if your market has one. If it doesn't I ususally have success in the cooking and baking section or in the same section where cartons of rice milk are located.

in the book it says you can have unsweetened soy milk..does that mean the original one?..in the past before the low carb diet I used to buy the vanilla one. I was at the grocery store today and I didn't pick any up because I wasn't sure what they meant by unsweetened.

If your asking is the "vanilla" soy milk "unsweetened"...I'd have to say...I don't think sooo...but not sure. I'm new to drinking soy milk, but I do know that Silk makes unsweetened (green carton) and regular soy (red...I think). To be sure though...check the carb count on the back of the carton...if it's more than 3 carbs...then it's a no-no! Hope that help!

All soy milk, even the plain, is sweetened UNLESS it specifically states on the face of the carton that it is unsweetened. Therefore, vanilla soy milk is sweetened. Read the ingredients for the drink. Westsoy [the brand I get for my kids] uses cane juice [liquid sugar] to sweeten it's soy milk. I know Westsoy makes a unsweetened version. Also, try Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Fresh Fields, if you have those stores in your area. Trader Joe's even has their own brand.

My kids have been on soy milk since they came off breast milk, that is why I know this.

I made that decision for my kids because both my husband and I are lactose intolerant and so are all of their grandparents. Therefore, the likelihood that they are lactose intolerant is very high. I didn't need for them to get diarrhea and stomache aches to prove it to me.

SO I bought Silk Unsweetened and 8th Continent Original. OMG the Unsweetened was soo gross. LOL But the 8th Continent (2carbs) was pretty good. Today I found a choc. one with 3 carbs and it is sooo good. Its by Hood.

The Hood one isn't soy milk. It's a "dairy beverage". It used to be called Carb Countdown-now Calorie Countdown. My perception of it is that is it somewhere between milk and half&half. You will need to "doctor" your unsweetened soy milk to make it drinkable-read previous posts. I don't think any of us drink it out of the carton.

My protein powder has sucralose in it to sweeten the powder--so it makes the soy taste sweet I don't use it for anything else beside the shakes, so I can't comment on how palatable the unsweetened soy is all by itself
