I weigh every Sunday morning.

jillybean720 12-13-2006 01:16 PM

Like most, it seems, I weigh every morning. I step on the scale with no clothes after peeing and before eating or exercising--to me, it makes sense that this is the absolutel most consistent I can be. Then I log my weight each day into Fitday (this is a new habit that just started in the last 2 weeks or so) so, like Mami, I can see the overall trend over an extended period of time.

I also go to TOPS meetings once a week and have my "official" weigh-in there. It's Thursday evenings, so I wear the same thing every Thursday (well, I go straight from work, so I wear the same black skirt and a tank top, but the color of tank top varies, and the shirt or sweater I wear over the tank top varies, but I take that off before I weigh). I weigh in at about 6pm, so I try not to eat anything after 2pm and not to drink anything after 4pm in order to have the most consistent results.

That is what I do too. I record my weight on Friday. The calendar is right beside the scale.

 I'm a daily "naked and starving" weigher!

I weigh myself twice a day--right before I go to bed and just after I get up in the morning. I consider that restraint. ;)

I'm also a naked, starving (in the morning at least), and pee-free weigher! In fact, if I exercise in the morning, I'll weight myself naked, starving, pee-free, and all sweated out from exercise. I sweat A LOT (sometimes more than two pounds of water) so I see some great lows when I do that!

For those of you that weigh yourself daily:

Do you really gain weight temporarily when on your period or just before from water retention OR does your weight just stay the same, only showing weight loss for that week after your period is over?

I have heard that you can gain up to 5 pounds during TOM. For me, I can not use it as an excuse. I have not seen any gain whatsoever during that time. Very strange as I have fibroids and am a heavy, heavy bleeder with horrendous, debilitating cramps, hope that wasn't too much information.

jillybean720 12-17-2006 07:41 AM

I have my TOM right now. It started on Thursday. I have mu TOPS meetings on Thursdays. Thursday night, when I weighed in at TOPS, I had lost 5.75 pounds from the previous Thursday. Here it is Sunday, and I haven't lost any additional weight, but it's only been 3 days. I think it is a very highly individual thing, as hormones can affect us all quite differently.

I used to use TOM as an excuse to eat more or to eat junk food. After all, it was the hormones making me want bad food  I think a lot of women do this, and it therefore becomes an excuse to gain some additional temporary weight before/during TOM. But me, I'm done messing with excuses, and it didn't affect my weight this time around.

Apparently I am the only one that weighs myself multiple times a day?? Like every single time I go in the bathroom (which is where my scale is)

I only 'record' my weight once a week - first thing in the morning after using the potty while I'm still naked.

But I can tell you how much my weight varies all day long, after eating meals, getting dressed, using the bathroom, putting my shoes on and off, having my TOM, etc (on average I "gain" 3-4 pounds from first morning weight til evening weight)

Thats kinda pathetic, isn't it :o

webweevil 12-17-2006 01:31 PM

Wolfena - how much weight do you gain when it is that time of the month? I know I retain water during this time, but I don't know just how much.

I do gain over TOM. when I used to be on the pill af started on a monday. I would be up from previous fri-mon, then super low on thurs, and by following monday be back to normal

I do find that how much I fluctuate (from TOM or normal fluctuations) decreases significantly if I am exercising and eating well. Just not prone to bloat.

I weigh in just my undies every morning after going potty. I do not eat or drink any coffee before weighing in. It's surprising what one 8 oz. cup of coffee or water will do. I did a little experiment a while ago, weighed myself as usual, than drank a 8oz glass of water. Weighed myself again and I was naturally up 1/2 pound, so weighing yourself first thing in the morning is much more accurate.

I weigh myself in the morning (naked, after going to the bathroom and before eating or drinking anything) and then w/ my pajama's on right before i go to bed. I sometimes weigh myself throughout the day too, but not often.
At night i can usually tell wat ill weigh in the morning based on wat ive eaten that day (i usually weigh 3-5 pounds less when i weigh in the morning compared to wat i weighed the night b4).
Its really weird, ive gotten really good at knowing if ive gained lost or stayed the same. Ive started predicting wat the scale will say b4 i get on and ive never been more than a pound off. Its really weird cuz i can like "feel" when i gain, loose, or stay the same. Idk if that makes ne sense but i think its cool.

ennay 12-17-2006 04:19 PM

I can USUALLY tell too, I can tell if I feel bloated or not. Like this morning I am way down, but only because i havent worked out in 5 days, so I am way down on water weight.

Tara D 12-17-2006 04:40 PM

I can feel when I've gained/lost, too, and can predict my weight usually within 0.2-0.4 pounds! It's so weird isn't it! It's really shocking! I guess it means we've learned something about our bodies and that we're more in tune with our bodies! I guess if you do anything every day for a few months, you get good at it!
