I tend to just pop on here for support and to discuss things that are going on in the thread. I post my calories & food on FitDay so I don't repeat it over here except once in a while.

I'm just glad to be in the cyber-company of such great people! :carrot:

Calejo 12-30-2006 12:00 PM

I did it!!! I made my goal (for December)! Without starving, or crash dieting, or anything but eating right and exercise!! WOOT!!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Oh! And I got another cheerleader! I love this! :cloud9:

OnePerDecade 12-30-2006 12:13 PM

Calejo -- That is SO cool!!!! Congrats on making your goal!!!!

To everyone who asked "Is it too late to join?" all I can do is echo everyone else and say "It's NEVER too late!" Welcome!

THANK YOU to everyone who has had a good thought for me and my family. We have had some wonderful news...JT 4 (he's James Thomas Griffin IV and no one is quite sure what his nickname will be, so we've started calling him JT4) has shown miraculous improvement!!! His brain & organs are functioning normally & the doctors are now talking about him being sent home instead of preparing for a second funeral! I respect that not everyone believes in God or a Higher Power, but I absolutely do. While we're all heartbroken over the loss of Becky and I know how difficult it will be to have 3 small children without a mother, I am choosing to take comfort in JT4's survival and be grateful for that :)

LittleElectron 12-30-2006 02:41 PM

Paula--That is *wonderful* news.
Calejo--Congratulations!! It's so impressive you stuck to your goal during a time when most people are gaining. :)
Everyone who just joined in--WELCOME.
Bobbolink--Haha! I chose the name LittleElectron because that is what my boyfriend calls me. We were both in the same physics classics, and he decided for complicated reasons that I am like an electron. It's cute (albeit nerdy), I promise. How did you choose your name?

I skipped breakfast today because I woke up late, but had fish and salad for lunch. I will try to get some snacks in later so I don't get super hungry and eat more than I want to at the party I am going to tonight.

Bobbolink 12-30-2006 05:30 PM

Calejo...I can't wait until tomorrow to congratulate you!:high: I knew you could do it! That puts you in the lead on our Valentine's challenge, 6 pound gone. :cheer:
1PerDecade...My heart and prayers go out to the daddy and his family, what a miracle little JT 4 is. Cute nickname for him.
Electron... Do you still have the same boyfriend that gave you that name?
Bobbolink was a last ditch effort for Bobbi. That name was already taken so I just added to it. (Bobolink is actually a North American song bird) My two grandsons had so many grandmothers on both sides so they started calling me Bobbi which means grandmother in Czechoslovakian. My DH even calls me that so I guess I'm stuck with it.
How about the rest of you, care to share your user name and why you call yourself that?
Bobbi

ennay 12-30-2006 05:35 PM

Bobbi- A long time ago before I got married I used my name backwards as a character name for something in school. Enna is my first name backwards (Anne) and the Y is the last letter of my maiden name.
It used to be EnnaY, but I kind of like Ennay as a name. I've used it on so many forums now that I just respond to it.

Hi y'all!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am feeling all kinds of Valentine's Day love!

Paula, I am so sorry that your family is going through such a hard time, but I am glad there's been some hope and the baby is fighting strong. I didn't know things like that happen these days, either.

Calejo - you ROCK! That's a great accomplishment anytime, but ESPECIALLY during the holidays! Um... I think I found some of the weight you lost.

And to everybody else, keep up the good work!

My first day was pretty good. I did write down everything I ate, and while I didn't do a strict tally, I did a quick rundown of the list and I am pretty sure I ate at or under what I should have. (I do WW points, they're just easier for my brain than calories are.) I'm trying out an intuitive eating program, coupled with points, maybe with a little low-carb thrown in here and there. Sort of a diet buffet, if you will. ;)

And I also did forty minutes of cardio, which is pretty great for my couch potato self. But my best accomplishment was going out for Mexican food for dinner and only eating HALF of my dinner. I brought the rest home for lunch tomorrow. Also, I did not dive into the basket of chips and roll around. I ate four of them, and then drank a LOT of water to try to convince my stomach that it had more than four chips.

Not sure how well that went over. I think my stomach is onto me.

Anyway, thanks for listening... I just wanted to recap my first day. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Good morning!

Well my user name is pretty obvious. The biggest problem I have is eating too much. I can't have a little of anything. I think quantity is way better than quality and eat tons of fat free stuff like oleo chips. I do this because I can't walk away so at least pick a low fat low calorie item. I've been doing this since I was 12.

I am going to add a counter for exercise. I did really well for a few days but haven't exercised the last two. Some major changes going on in my life with employment and it has really distracted me. But I am determined to get back on track today.

tamibeep - What a great day you had yesterday! It's great when one day turns into 2, 3, 4, etc.!!!!

1perdecade - I am praying for your family. My son was born very early in life and has faced many challenges. He has cerebral palsey and uses a wheelchair. He has had many surgeries over the years including 10 this past summer and in August he took his first steps at the age of 17!!!!:carrot: :carrot: Prayer works!

srmb60 12-31-2006 09:50 AM

I'm in Alabama, where I went outside in a tank top to dry my hair in the breeze. It's gorgeous here!

Happy New Years Eve everyone!

OnePerDecade 12-31-2006 12:35 PM

My user name is just an example of my warped sense of humor. It refers to my children (born 1986, 1996 & 2004) AND my spouses (married 1985, 1993 & 2004)...For the record, I am DONE adding children/spouses each decade :)

ennay 12-31-2006 01:42 PM

bwahahaahahah Paula! love it!

srmb60 01-01-2007 08:48 AM

45 days folks ... what a nice number to think on!

Happy New Year!

ennay 01-01-2007 12:19 PM

Did not do well last night. ugh

par12199 01-01-2007 01:46 PM

Just wanted to post and say I am down 2 lbs. I weighed on Friday and started the challenge on Sunday, so not bad. :carrot:
Will check back in next Friday!

SmartButt 01-01-2007 02:15 PM

I was terrible last night, totally lost count of calories. It's a good thing we got in a light 45 min. workout yesterday before the "binge".

The problem is today I am TOTALLY craving junk/fast food. I am locking myself in the house and refusing to give in, though!

Scale hasn't budged and it's time to kick into V-Day challenge mode.
